I was pleased to find that by going to Google and typing in my [county, state, followed by the word "ballot"] up came the board of elections. At their site, was a button to click that would verify whether or not you were registered to vote. After filling in my name, address, and clicking, another page opened and it verified that I was registered to vote. Not only that, it verified the precinct ID number and the address of the building in which the poll was located. To be on the safe side, I printed out the page to take to the polls with me on Nov. 2. Additionally, the board of election site showed the actual ballot for my district, along with party identifications of the candidates. I report this because of articles appearing in newspapers telling of registrations being torn up or dumped...also polling places being changed or reportedly changed. Cathy Subject: Missing Weapons The administration is now denying that the first troops to contact the munitions site found any explosives. The first contact American troops had with the munitions site was on April 4, 2003. But the administration states that the troops found no explosives there at the time. This claim is flatly contradicted by a number of reports that occurred at the time. For example, see this CBS report dated April 4, 2003: U.S. troops found thousands of boxes of white powder.... But a senior U.S. official familiar with initial testing said the materials were believed to be explosives.... "'Initial reports are that the material is probably just explosives, but we're still going through the place," the official said. Peabody said troops found thousands of boxes, each of which contained three vials of white powder, together with documents written in Arabic that dealt with how to engage in chemical warfare." U.S. Searches 'Suspicious' Iraqi Site (CBS News) This report seems to flatly contradict the claim that no explosives were found on April 4, 2003. The report appears to be an Associated Press report by Kimberly Hefling. You should publicize the truth, and point out the inconsistency between this contemporaneous report and the administration's current claim. Subject: Another big Bush KABOOM is YAWNSVILLE to Main Street Media USA Bush's latest criminally incompetent FUBAR has resulted in 760,000 pounds of high-tech explosives gone missing. These materials have enough kill-power to equal tens of thousands of attacks like the US Embassy bombings in Africa. One single pound was used to blowup Pan Am 103. Enough explosives are missing to blow two-thirds of the US population off the freakin map because Bush Inc. was busy ravaging the Iraqi Oil Ministry instead of giving a rat's ass about the lethal cache they'd been repeatedly warned of by the UN. Just like they ignore our vulnerable ports and chemical facilities in the US. Yet even literal dynamite can't rouse the god damned media to report on this unbelievably consequential security breach. Perhaps if Paris Hilton could don a bikini and hold up a stick drawing of the heist at a press conference the media would wake-up. Because it certainly isn't enough from them that the head of the Nonproliferation Project at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace said it's as if the insurgents "knocked off the Fort Knox of explosives." Good Morning America? NBC Nightly News? MSNBC? Sinclair? Rush? O'Reilly? Savage? Clear Channel? Fox News? Anyone give a damn that the Fort Knox of explosives has been cleaned out by terrorist-insurgents? Didn't think so. But mention Kerry's "French manicure" and they're on it like firecrackers on the Fourth of July. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Suzanne Subject: It's a little topsy turvy (as sent to "Today" and others) How the pluperfect hell does Bush think he can reach out to Democrats in Pennsylvania if he doesn't allow Democrats to his events? I think it is a good idea for Bush to go to Pennsylvania and reach out to Democrats, is he going to do it with telepathy? They have even attempted to arrest the mothers of kids killed in Iraq. Take a look at his strategy; he is going to invite only Republicans and then play sound bites for the Democrats to hear? There is no way he will speak to a crowd of Democrats. If I were a Democrat in Pennsylvania, I would show up at the event and say Bush said on the Today Show that he is going to reach out to me and I am here. Now the Bushes are saying the weapons were never there. It seems a little look at that very detailed assessment of weapons that Powell presented to the UN might have reference to those weapons, or maybe not. So now there were not only never any WMD, but the Bushes are saying there weren't any conventional explosives. Cheney says there never was proof the weapons were ever there. Interesting, will he next tell us there is no proof of a connection between Saddam and 9/11? I especially like the part this morning where Bush says Kerry has never led any army to victory. Ask the kids fighting in Iraq if they feel victorious. There have been nearly 1000 more kids killed since Bush declared Victory, than before. During Vietnam Bush didn't even lead Blunt to victory in Alabama. There is not now, nor has there ever been, Victory in Iraq and there is no Peace in Iraq, either. Bush has now painted himself into a Blue corner. I want to see Bush in front of several thousand Pennsylvania or any other state Democrats. Come on Bush, reach out to Oklahoma Democrats. I will be there with bells on. He has never reached out to Democrats because he has spent all his time and capital on trying to keep his base. Karen Webb Subject: Lies upon lies Every day there are new revelations of the Bush administration's deceit and deception associated with the war in Iraq. A news article from today's Independent/UK claims that the U.S. gave Britain war plans for Iraq five months before the invasion. If they gave Blair the plans five months prior to the invasion, they must have been working on those plans far earlier than that, which is one more confirmation that this was not a war of last resort, but a conspiracy to invade a sovereign nation for political and strategic purposes. Bush and his thugs have lied about every aspect of this horrific international blunder. If, God forbid, W wins or steals the election next week, the Democrats in Congress better have articles of impeachment written up and ready to go the day after the inauguration. JPA Subject: "American Values" I am sick and tired of hearing conservatives -- not only unchallenged, but often validated by the coverage -- referring to the middle of America as being the "real America," or being the source of "real American values." Real American Values can be found in the 50 states, not just those acquired in the Louisiana Purchase. The Purchase was a value, yes, but let's not confuse the two. Mike C. Subject: Republican Caging List In Florida (sent to news outlets) Ladies and gentlemen: Yesterday, BBC News broke a major news story concerning a Republican "caging" list which targeted black voters in Jacksonville, including some 40-50 people living at the Naval Air Station. This morning, Indymedia.org, charted out the address contained in this list on a map of Jacksonville. Perez Subject: Missions may be accomplished Kenneth Blackwell, who has orchestrated hoops for Democrat voters to jump though, says that provisional ballots may be filled out by the challenged voter. Excerpt from the Cincinnati Enquirer: Blackwell's order followed the Ohio Republican Party's challenge of the registrations of 35,000 voters last week, after the GOP said mail sent to the voters came back unreturned. Rejected voters allowed to cast provisional ballots (AP/Cincinnati Enquirer) "Came back unreturned?" That phrase is a direct contradiction of itself! Did the Enquirer and its editors make a grammatical error or did the GOP purposely phrase doublespeak to protect itself in the event of a court challenge? So many questions...too few answers. Regardless, 35,000 names have been put on a challenge list. If they show up at the polls, GOP representatives will challenge them, holding up voting lines, which would encourage many voters who function in a fast-paced world to leave without voting Wha-la, mission accomplished! Cathy Subject: better: Even the way they lie is dishonest Dear Buzz, It's the way they do things. We can't take another four years. No matter who you are, what you think, know they want our kids. No Child Left Behind was -- I would bet my soul on this -- formulated slyly with the aim to bring down the public school system. Hand and hand with vouchers, it's brilliant, something that can be and has been put over as progressive, choice-ey, an answer to dissatisfaction that will work to uncover and correct problems. But not so. If your school doesn't measure up, vouchers will let your child go elsewhere with tax money. Overwhelmingly that means straight to the local Heritage/Christian Academy. The ready, waiting alternative. "Left Behind." An inside joke worthy of Goebbels. If that seems fine to you, you'd better ask yourself where that leads, where it ends, because you give up all control. Think about it, follow it through, back to the wisdom of separation of church and state and why our founders thought such things so important. The Right hasn't been able to bring down the NEA and get around the call for fairness, tolerance, religious freedom central to public schools and necessary in a Democracy. (You can't pray at school? Absurd! People pray all the time, quietly and with true reverence. They simply aren't allowed to climb up on the table in the lunch room and spew forth. Mass and Sunday School are there for all at the tax-exempt church of your choice.) They haven't been able to get their fists around Fed money for private indoctrination of the future dreamed-of Ashcroft Youth. So they devised this. Bush made nice, selling No Child to Kennedy. He didn't let on it wouldn't be funded to succeed, that schools could only fail. And when it all rolls over all of us, the Repugs will point to Kennedy. (See that little smirk? Bush can never get to the punch line without laughing.) It's the way they do it. Even the way they lie is dishonest. Vote them out. Strength, Deborah Conner Dear Buzz, The first time that I took my son with me to vote, he was about eight years old. This was in 1992. I reasoned that this was the proper thing to do in our democracy; before you know it kids are no longer kids and should know something about voting. So one must instill a respect for the process in the children even if it was somewhat flawed. I showed him the ballot and explained to him why I was voting for Bill Clinton and not George H. W. Bush, saying, "Bush wants to let the billionaires run our lives; I don't think that Clinton will do that... As much." An oversimplification to be sure - but how do you explain politics to an eight year old? Regarding the school board election, "I won't vote for the Republican, Joe Schmoe, to make decisions about your school. He thinks that you should learn about HIS religion in your school. If you want to learn about Jesus, we can take you to a church. Do you understand, Patrick?" My spousal unit, Robin, has also taken him to the polls a couple of times over the years. So, Patrick was pleased when he registered to vote here in Arizona. I took him to the board of elections a good six weeks before the deadline; there should not have been any problem. But he registered as a Democrat. And here it is, six days before the election and he has received no confirmation of his registration. His Republican peers who registered at the deadline date have not had this problem even though many have changed their minds to vote for Kerry. These young people have no desire for a military draft - understandably so. I called the board of elections, but I am prohibited from making inquiries for him because we do not share the same address. He has not been able to call the Board of Elections because of his job. My Republican Senators and congressman "can't help." So my son will not be able to take part in his first election because he has the "wrong" political views; that is the Republican concept of "democracy." He has learned a valuable lesson. Never, EVER trust or vote for a Republican. Peace and Unrest, Michael J. Fowler Subject: Good ONE!! General Wesley Clark released the following statement [10-27-04]: Today George W. Bush made a

Dear BuzzFlash : The following is a copy of an email I sent to Jeb Bush. Even though I do not live in the State of Florida, I think it is imperative that we contact people and hold them accountable for the deeds and misdeeds. Dear Governor Bush: I am completely dismayed by the myriad of news articles in regards to rampant election problems in your state. I am also dismayed by your lack of attempting to do anything to alleviate the problems. When you took office, you swore an oath of public service. However, you have failed miserably at that oath. You have done nothing to ensure fair and honest elections. In fact, it appears that what you have done is to disenfranchise voters once again. Your continuation to undermine the elections is completely undemocratic, unconstitutional, unpatriotic and definitely un-American. Your behavior and actions as Governor of the State of Florida are appalling and disgusting. Your lack of an attempt to secure fair elections this year is an indication of your attempting to rig the elections. The same can be said of your behavior in the 2000 Presidential election. I wish I lived in Florida so that I could vote you out of office in your next attempt at re-election. I want to tell you that you should be ashamed of yourself, but I do not think that you have any shame. You are not worthy of the position of Governor of the State of Florida. Sincerely, John Bogeman Subject: George Bush's gift to the War College The more I hear about the missing explosives from Al Qaqaa, the more I learn about the disastrous mismanagement of the Iraqi invasion, a disaster which began before we ever even got to Baghdad, the more I fully appreciate George Bush's gift to the War College. You can bet the family farm on the fact that his folly of a war plan will be taught for decades to come as the perfect example of how NOT to plan for a war. Why, it'll be the gift that just keeps on giving for years to come and all the wars to come. It looks as if more and more Americans are finally opening their eyes and they see what a disaster the Bush Administration has been to the country. Let's pray they all show up at the polls. REID, Associated Press Writer (Yahoo) Bush can't break the dead heat nationally, and is looking shaky. It's time to get people to rally 'round the President. My guess is that they'll go into full attack mode by Saturday. Mike Kilroy Subject: Cherry Picking Sins Dear Fellow BuzzFlash Readers/Supporters: Greetings from the Christian Liberal. I know, I know, we're a week away from either certain disaster (GeeDubya) or Regime Change (Kerry). But while we are gearing up for the brouhaha that is a near certainty to follow cause whoever loses is most certainly going to contest the results, we need to remain ever so vigilant, not just with the current President, but his successor as well. To that end, I've contemplated quite a bit of issues, and I'm still coming up with the same conclusion: YOU CANNOT CHERRY PICK THE SINS YOU WILL CONDEMN! For four years, we have been abused and subjected to watching the Bush Administration do exactly that; cherry pick the sin they, and their ilk (aka the Religious Right) are going to condemn, and use as election "wedge" issues. It also underscores what has to happen, despite Bush returning to office, or John Kerry assuming the duties of Commander-In-Chief on January 20, 2005. But, allow me to return to the subject of the Bush Administration's "cherry-picking" of sins to condemn and the ones they are allowing a free pass, especially if it's one of their own. Boy, they sure know how to beg for forgiveness if they get caught sinning, but let one of us do it! Lock them up and throw away the key! Better yet, give 'em the needle on a gurney (especially if you're incarcerated in Texas or Florida). Yet we are to allow Rush Limbaugh to complete drug counseling, after he's condemned similar individuals who had no money to buy themselves justice in the court system? Sins identified here are addiction, false witness against your neighbor, hypocrisy and unforgiveness. Now why isn't Rush Limbaugh being condemned, but John Kerry had to take a hit because he made a comment that was respectful of Mary Cheney, Dick and Lynne's gay daughter? Let's take gay marriage. Both Kerry and Bush were identical in their views. Yet Bush broke with his party this morning and began to take Cheney's position that the government should have nothing to do with the legislation of gay marriage; leave it up to the states. But up until last night, he was introducing constitutional amendments and whatnot, in an attempt to ban gay marriage. Additionally, he's managed to convince 18% of Black America to give in to their homophobia, and have their Pastors shouting support for Bush from the rooftops. However, I suspect Black Pastors are supporting Bush with their hands out for the faith-based money pie, and not because they believe in the positions he's taking, because those positions are way detrimental to minorities overall (you think Bush would stop at gay marriage?). So why are they getting riled up over same-sex marriage, while it's okay for poverty rates to skyrocket, while the rich get richer at the expense of the poor; the environment to be raped, and the economy in the toilet, complete with outsourcing of jobs and elimination of health care coverage benefits for workers? Isn't ALL of it a sin! Then why is one (same-sex marriage) more egregious than any other (poverty, destruction of the environment)? Another example of cherry picking sin. Stem cell research - well now, according to Jesus (and Bush <sarcasm>) all life is valuable and precious, and a person should have a chance at a whole, healthy life. Yet Bush is blocking all types of scientific research funding, including funding of research that may provide a quadriplegic with the ability to walk again, or the deaf to hear, or the blind to see - or for those suffering with Parkinson's disease, Sickle Cell Anemia, leukemia, HIV/AIDS. Where is the righteousness in denying a sick individual the resource that would make him well, or, at most, improve the quality of his/her life? Is it a certainty that all the stem cells would be from aborted fetuses? What are the facts here? Shouldn't all aspects of debate be presented before pronouncing judgement? To deny healing through scientific research, be it stem-cell research or other research, and to not relate all of the facts for individuals to make informed decisions, which may cause them to sin, by another's actions, is sin all around, don't you think? To slander your opponent by lying about his wife, his family, his friends who served with him in Vietnam on a Swift Boat - isn't it a [sin] to bear false witness against one's neighbor? Yet, we've been treated to Bush lying to the American People for four years, and about issues that are punishable by impeachment, expulsion from office and federal prison (consider WMDs and the loss of nuclear bombs that Bush now says he knew nothing about). But Congress nearly castrated Bill Clinton for a blow job not given to him by his wife, and it cost you and me, the tax payer, $70 million dollars to probe into something that was no one's business but Bill and Hillary's! How many children could have been caught up in education and Not Left Behind with that $70 million dollars that was wasted in trying to destroy Bill Clinton mentally, emotionally and physically, because of the Right's rabid hatred of him? Let's stop cherry picking the sins we want to condemn. At some point, we all do it, but in this Administration, Bush and the gang do it more than others, and as American citizens, we need to call them on it and hold them accountable beyond November 2nd. My name is Leutisha Stills. Subject: A Question not asked . . . BuzzFlash, Remember before Bush's invasion of Iraq and Dan Rather interviewed Saddam Hussein? I watched as our satellites zoomed in on Saddam's castle in the sand. The detail was so remarkable and I cannot believe that the US shut down those satellites. So, as your readers point out, it would take 20 or more trucks to move 390 tons of explosives. Another point to the complicity of the Bush administration with this missing tonnage, is the fact that they (Bush) had lists of where the inspectors had been and everything that Saddam possessed. Bush wanted to find WMD with almost a feverish madness so he could invade Iraq. Now, to tell us that they don't know about this cache or they have never seen it is so unbelievable and I am left with the question . . . Why the lie . . . why such an obvious lie . . . Thanks BuzzFlash, Shirley Smith Subject: Response to the "Wolves" ad I have read a lot about Bush campaign's "Wolves" ad. The Democrats could counter that ad by recounting this: There were only a few wolves in the form of al Qaeda in 2001. The U.S. effort in Afghanistan helped reduce the number of wolves and wound a few others. Then Bush let up on that effort to contain the wolf population, by diverting resources to Iraq, thus giving precious time for the wolves to not only mend and multiply, but also find new breeding grounds in Iraq. So, if we have a serious "wolves" problem now, it is mainly due to the botched efforts of George Bush and his administration to deal with the problem. R. K. Subject: voting irregularities I loved the suggestion that everyone possible should register as republican for the next election, let the idiots try to sort out who is who. Secondly, there must be a law about interfering with someone's right to vote, so if I were denied my absentee ballot or any trouble at the polling place, I would report it immediately to the authorities, police and election board, and the secretary of state. If they have to sort out 50,000 complaints per state the next day it will put pressure on them to have paper trails and better voting next time round. If I were black, I would register republican and vote as early as possible. Also get to know the people at the polling places by voting in every single dogcatcher race. That way people at the polls will recognize you and KNOW you are eligible to vote. This is something we all should work on the next four years even if Kerry wins in a landslide. Look at what the republicans did when Clinton beat them. A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: The Contract On America . . . BuzzFlash, Regarding your news alert article, The Bush Campaign Playbook: Step One - Filter . . . talking about the Republican National Committee requiring voters to sign "Loyalty Oaths" before they could attend a rally . . . those two words, whenever I hear them coming from Republicans, are regurgitorical words to me and two words that Bush the Younger and Bush the Elder are fond of using. Actually, they are really asking people for Conditional Loyalty. In other words . . . if you are loyal to us (the Bushits) and accept whatever we do, then we won't do anything to you. Signing oaths of loyalty reminds me of the sales training by corporations. In sales, just getting the customer to sign anything . . . mentally commits them to something. In other words, it is a "Contract." Remember the Republican Contract with America. Maybe the Republicans failed to "sign it." Or maybe it is just another example of the Bush Crime Family putting a nice sounding spin on what they really intended to do, and that was to "Put a Contract Out On America." The only people that have benefited from Bush being in the White House are those same people who have been "Loyal" (the Wealthy and the confused Right Wing Christian Base). The rest of us are left paying huge amounts of debt and suffering the loss of loved ones. As far as signing an oath . . . Bush took an oath when moving into the White House and I don't mean the ones he probably uses under his breath . . .I know that I have used plenty of those myself since he has been in office . . . that oath was to protect America's citizens and their Democracy and under his reign, Democracy has been beaten, shot full of holes, dragged through the mud, slandered, abused by the Justice Department, Supreme Court and the Republican Congress. Our Democracy has been wounded so badly under the Bush administration that, today, it is in need of severe repair and is probably on a gurney somewhere in a room adjacent to a morgue. Bush took an oath of loyalty or a Contract as President and Commander in Chief of our Military for America and has not done one single thing to better the lives of the citizens in this Country. Bush works for us. Congress works for us. The Supreme Court is supposed to be a bipartisan group who works for us. What about their oaths? Instead, the people are asked for their loyalty. How backward is that? It is time for Americans to hold Bush accountable for his four years in office. He signed an oath and dismissed his duties to all Americans. Where was his loyalty to America when he lied us into invading a helpless Country . . . an invasion that has killed and maimed thousands, including Americans, that he was supposed to protect. Americans need unconditional loyalty from their leaders and we also need to bring accountability back into all three branches of our government, or our Democracy will be removed from that gurney and placed in the morgue for good. The Contract on America fulfilled! Thanks BuzzFlash, Shirley Smith |
