Subject: Casey Sheehan

To the Sheehan Family,

Thank you for your son's fight for freedom. How proud we are as a country for his sacrifice he gave. My husband is over there. I saw you on TV. and watched it with such sadness. Because he did not want to serve our country by going to his duty station he was assigned too. You said he did not want to go over but volunteered to go????????? You should be proud of your son. I am sorry that he was called up in the draft. My husband is retired and went over to serve with his friends and serve our country. I pray he does not lose his life. But I also am very proud of him. I would not go on TV and say he did not want to go. Because he is a proud AMERICAN and MY HERO. SORRY YOUR SON WAS DRAFTED. At Least my husband volunteered.

GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND THOSE WHO SERVE.

Apparently, the same firm is also operating here in Oregon. If this is true, Kerry must bring it up tomorrow, and Bush must be made to condemn this.

Subject: Re: Civil Rights Panel to Wait to Discuss Bush

This is just further proof that the Bush regime has failed completely to carry out its leadership responsibilities. Too much criticism is withheld until after the election is held. What good does it do then? Before we know it, the release of any derogatory information will be against the law in an election year!

Civil Rights Panel to Wait to Discuss Bush (AP)

By ERICA WERNER
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights voted Friday to wait until after next month's election to discuss a report critical of the Bush administration's civil rights record. Republican members had objected to the report's timing. The report remains posted on the commission's Web site, however, despite objections from GOP commissioners who sought to get it removed.

"I think it's an unfair report, and I think it's a politically biased report, and I think its release at this time is politically motivated," Commissioner Jennifer C. Braceras said after the commission voted to postpone discussion of the report until Nov. 12....

Subject: Stem Cell Research

Why is the Kerry campaign allowing the STEM CELL debate to be framed by religious fundamentalists such as Bill Frist, George Bush, etc? 48 Nobel Prize winning scientists endorse Kerry and I would assume almost every other scientist in America. Please start trotting out these scientists so that Americans can understand the damage done by the current administration. The republicans have somehow painted Kerry and Edwards as being "shameful," and "crass" for talking about Chris Reeves, etc... But this is so blatantly absurd that many people actually believe it.

PLEASE send emails to the Kerry Campaign, etc., urging them to start rolling out these scientists and let them start slamming the administration. You surely know that PR is most believed when it comes from the mouth of "independent" sources. These scientists are your independent sources. Most of the population simply has no comprehension of embryonic stem cells and their potential. This should not even be a debate.

You probably already know that the stem cell research would not even destroy new embryos as the embryos used are "left-overs" from fertility clinics. Yet the Kerry campaign allows Bush to twist this into a winning issue for him; which if even 10% of the population opposes stem cell research then Bush is winning.

Get these scientists and doctors onto the talk shows etc. and hammer Bush. In terms of pseudo science, stem cells are only the tip of the iceberg for Bush, per distorting condom studies, abortion etc. For god's sake all you have to do is Google "Bush Science" and there will be article after article explaining the cataclysmic disaster that is the Bush science policy. This needs to become a MAJOR issue, as almost any moderate or even right-tilting person who is made aware of these things will most likely begin to understand how important it is to vote for Kerry.

Thank You.

Subject: Sinclair Exec is a spook

A lot of media execs are straight out of CIA black ops. Here's another: Mark Hyman - Vice President for Corporate Relations for Sinclair, the company that plans to openly air an inflammatory anti-Kerry movie on TV stations nationwide right before the election.

I looked him up on Sinclair's site and here's Hyman's company biography:

He served briefly in the Army before attending college on an Army ROTC scholarship. He was later accepted to the U. S. Naval Academy from which he graduated in 1981. He served as a naval officer on ships assigned to the East and West coasts and he served in the U.S. Navy's European headquarters in London. He has conducted worldwide travel with extensive time spent in the Middle East. He left active duty in 1989 and became employed as a civilian in the Office of Naval Intelligence, which included assignments with the U.S. On-Site Inspection Agency as a disarmament treaty weapons inspector in former Warsaw Pact countries. A Captain in the Naval Reserve, he has served in leadership positions in CIA's National Warning Staff, the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office and he is currently a Commanding Officer in the Naval Reserve's Space and Network Warfare Program....

The military organizations in which he has served have been awarded four CIA National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Commendations during his service, and he has been awarded the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award, and several Navy and Joint military awards.

Bottom line is Hyman is an active member of the Naval Reserve, like many broadcast execs has an intel background, broadcasts commentary to 4 million people a day and is still promoting the proven-false anti-Kerry Swift Boat lies.

It's amazing that anybody would deny that the right wing runs the media.

Subject: About trashing registrations

When people go to vote and are told they are not registered (and after the checking, the fuss, the screaming, the being evicted because they are a security danger, etc.) they should have a place on the web - or elsewhere - to WRITE:

Someone has to set it up so it works ON THE DAY and people know about the contact - to write in immediately and give a kind of SOS - in Hollywood FL they are not letting people vote, in Las Vegas they couldn't find my registration, like that.... so at least the hot spots can be identified and brought to attention.

It's really important, especially in those states where ethics are not part of the morality and the Republicans will stop at nothing to win.

Any way for all the altenative press to unite in some kind of project to save us from the Bushies? (Because if anyone thinks that it's just "four more years" they are living in never never land - it's the Supreme Court, all the other courts, the laws taking away our rights and our privacy, the no fly lists getting longer and longer, the social security getting smaller and smaller (and by the time YOU reach the age, you'll have to wait till 80 to apply!!), our environment, and of course, what they will do to destroy the parts of the world they haven't destroyed already.

Subject: Tax Windfall May Not Boost Hiring Despite Claims (WSJ/smartmoney.com)

(for those of you w/o WSJ subs -- this is a front page story (Wednesday)...

By GLENN R. SIMPSON and GREGORY ZUCKERMAN Staff Reporters of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

October 13, 2004; Page A1

WASHINGTON -- Big companies long lobbied for a tax cut on their overseas profit as a way to spur U.S. job growth. But now that it has been granted, much of the windfall won't go toward hiring but for such uses as strengthening balance sheets, buying back shares and making acquisitions.

The one-year break, included in a sweeping tax bill that cleared the Senate and went to the president this week, will allow hundreds of billions of dollars in overseas profit to be brought home by dozens of U.S. companies at a steeply reduced tax rate. By some estimates, U.S. companies have parked as much as $500 billion in profit abroad to avoid taxes back home.

Companies say the repatriated money, which would be taxed at a 5.25% rate instead of 35%, will provide stimulus and better position them for hiring in the long run. Software company Oracle Corp., for instance, likely will use some of the billions it will bring home to help finance its aggressive acquisition strategy. Computer maker Hewlett-Packard Co. says it may devote a substantial portion of the several billion dollars it plans to bring back to paying down debt from its purchase of Compaq Computer Corp. -- a transaction that led to layoffs.

The Bush administration has been lukewarm about the tax bill, though President Bush, who has been attacked by Democratic opponent Sen. John Kerry over sluggish job growth during his administration, is expected to sign it. The repatriation provision is among the most far-reaching of the many business tax breaks included in the sweeping bill, formally dubbed the "American Jobs Creation Act of 2004." It was an amendment to legislation that began as a corrective to an export tax break for U.S. companies that caused a rift with allies and was ruled illegal by the World Trade Organization....

Subject: Undeniably Courageous - W. Leon Smith -Publisher of Crawford, Tx Lone Star Iconoclast

I already knew the "Lone Star Iconoclast" in Crawford (Bush hiding hole/bunker), Texas, had endorsed John Kerry. When I first read the endorsement my first thought was, "Wow! Here's a guy who really believes in freedom of speech and a free press. Right in the middle of an election battlefield facing one of, if not the most, merciless political cabals in recent history. And he dares to speak his mind? To me, he's a genuine hero."

I figured he'd face some retribution. As standard practice the neo-con culture would try to destroy him. The publisher exercised his right to free speech; the predominantly Republican business population exercised their right to not advertise with him. All well and good, but in reading an article in the Salt Lake Tribune, I note the opposing forces have brought their economic power to bear with the goal of destroying him at least economically by pulling all advertising. Others are canceling subscriptions.

I can only sit in comfort in my rear echelon area instead of being on the battle line with him. Then, it occurred to me, even from here I can fight alongside him by at least subscribing to his paper. Then, a further thought, if people like those at BuzzFlash, Moveon.org, Truthout, etc., would publicize this situation, perhaps we could give some valuable aid by encouraging your readers to also subscribe. If anyone is interested, the Lone Star Iconoclast subscription page is at:

My subscription check will be in the mail tomorrow. I hope you can alert your readers and other links and show their support for a true American hero.

Subject: Simple Solutions to Bush's Bulge Mystery

If I was John Kerry I would pat Bush on the back right where the bulge is supposed to be as soon as we came onstage, and if I felt something I would say loudly, "Hey, what's that on your back? Hey Bob, he's got something on his back." If I was Bob Schieffer, my first question would be, "Gentlemen, in order to dispel any internet rumors from spreading, would you please remove your jackets and turn around for the cameras?" When Bush protests I'd explain, "Mr. President, with all due respect, this is in your best interest to disprove those scurrilous rumors floating in the press and on the internet." If Bush absolutely refuses, then people are free to infer what they want if another bulge is seen.

Subject: On Nevada Dem Voter Registration forms trashed

Enjoyed your site for years now, but to the point...

After seeing the local KLAS-TV story by George Knapp on this, I did some quick internet research he thanked me for as it saved him much time.

Turns out the Director of Voters' Outreach of America, "A.J." James, is hired and PAID by former Christian Coalition leader and Ultra-conservative executive director of the Arizona Republican Party, Nathan Sproul... As we all know in fighting what is today a fraudulent and treasonist political party found in the GOP, we are also fighting the religious right because they are one of the same.

Source 13th paragraph down:

According to several sources, two of the contractors Sproul hired to oversee petition gathering for No Taxpayer Money For Politicians -- Aaron "A.J." James, who directs Voters' Outreach of America, and Diane Burns -- were also paid by Sproul to get as many signatures as possible for Nader.

Nader's Dubious Raiders (American Prospect)

Sproul & Associates is Project America Votes which is Voters Outreach of America. Project America Votes intentionally misuses the "America Votes "name to give themselves a nonpartisan legitimacy.

http://www.americavotes.org/

Sproul & Associates, aka Project America Votes, intentionally misusing the America Votes name, commonly hires Kelly Temp workers to do actual voter registration. They've been defrauding Democrats or anyone not interested in voting for Bush in many other states by simply throwing their forms away or not giving them forms from the start. As noted in the link below, they tried to do this in Oregon, but were caught by a smart librarian. They've succeeded however in other states besides Nevada, including West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Oregon Librarian Thwarts Voter-Registration Fraud (American Library Association)

http://www.nifl.gov/nifl-womenlit/2004/0201.html

Most important is from above site address: "An Internet search shows Sproul has received some financing from national Republican groups" showing they can be linked to primary GOP officials. This is confirmed by staff writer Tom Searls [ tomsearls@wvgazette.com (WV AC)348-5192] who wrote the copy pasted article at above addy citing this internet search showing proof of GOP funding to Sproul & Associates.

Did find money going the other way from Nathan Sproul to GOP Congressman Trent Franks's campaign as well..

http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/campaigns/trent_franks.asp

Sproul, NathanSproul & Associates/PRESIDENT apparently lives in Chandler. Close enough from Las Vegas for Mr. Knapp to embarrass him on camera in an interview which hopefully he may do;-)

Another political petition signature drive organization Sproul runs owns or manages is called "No Taxpayer Money for Politicians."

http://www.azkeepitclean.org/news/dspnews.cfm?id=4

Sproul's No Taxpayer PAC [correct term?] has raised $479,250, with all but $742 of it spent on the campaign so far. There are also 'questions' about where this money has gone to....(not at below link though)

Subject: Sinclair broadcasting

I live in a state where Sinclair broadcasting does not have franchises. I am so appalled by their behavior that I felt I had to do something. I contacted the FCC and that did not feel good enough. Looking at the list of affiliations of Sinclair properties I noted the most (with 20) were FOX (no surprise). However, the second on the list (with 19) was the WB, so I wrote the local WB and told them that I was going to regretfully have to boycott their programming because of WB's affiliation with Sinclair. I even referenced my favorite WB programming. I'm sure many of your readers feel as hogtied as I did - - maybe the WB can talk some sense into the fascists at Sinclair.

Subject: Could I really be delusional, now

Reality Check:

I have had the feeling for awhile now that the News Media are watching the wrong groups of people, because the ones who are going to make a difference have been off the 'dar for a long time, or they have never been on it.

The Younger Generation, the Grandchildren of the 60's generation will be headed to the polls in great numbers, all feeling the Draft that any idiot, who can count to 500,000, knows is coming.

Old Lefties, who got disgusted with the corporate/politician waltz years ago, see the importance in this election. This is not just a little influence peddling or a little quid pro quo. This is a hellish situation, one for which we will pay for generations; talk about sins of the fathers. Ethics have been literally thrown out the window in Corporate/Politician land. We did not see this kind of unabashed greed, even in the 80's.

We are talking about the Death of any semblance of Democracy in America!

I hope all those undecideds out there in LaLa land, the moderate, nervous or the overly blissful, who actually believe there is a choice, are not too shocked when all hell breaks loose in the streets.

If this election is close it will be tainted in the eyes of half the country, at least, and not without good reason. Everyday there is something else in the news about attempts at voter registration fraud. Then there is the disinformation campaign by the Bushites, the likes of which I do not believe I have ever seen. We cannot possibly over-estimate the influence this has on people who only have time for sound-bite News.

The Polls are all over the place and are clearly being manipulated and often by forces unseen, for the purpose of manipulating public opinion outright, or by those of us who are sick-and-tired of corporate-Political predictability when it comes to our elections.

From what we are hearing and from some unbiased sources, this thing could be a blow-out for Kerry.

That is not to say that we will not have to work our butts off for it. We can expect at least two major hits, in the weeks after the debates. They can expect a few, too.

But the focus now, after tonight, must be on the election, its fairness, and possible election fraud and get out the vote and every horror in Iraq and the failure in the "war on terror."

Are any of us going to put up with a Bush Electoral win against a Kerry Popular win? My God, look what happened the last time we allowed that to just happen, pretty much unchallenged. Can we afford, in any way, to allow that again? If we do, Democracy is done in this country. It will evermore be a facade.

We are calling for massive Civil Disobedience if Bush even appears to have stolen this election. If, God forbid, he wins it, might want to have passport in hand.

Subject: Voter Registration

Had to let you know, here in the U.K., we are legally obligated to register every year to vote. This is done by the local authority delivering registration forms to all households. The head of each family has to make legal declarations on who is resident there and of an age to vote. At an election everyone entitled to vote is issued a card which, when taken to the polling station, is checked off against an electoral roll. Before the voter receives their voting sheet, it is punched with a special marker to identify the election to which it applies. No one is assailed by firms soliciting their voter registrations, etc. ALL voters are recorded by their local authority, unless they choose to break the laws relating to registration. This then puts the onus of none [sic] registration on the individual concerned. Most people follow a lawful course because there is no point to not to, save when a right wing Thatcher government brought in a totally unjust poll tax (that is, taxing every person on the electoral roll the same amount whether employed or not, retired or wealthy, disabled or fit to work). Then some decided to break the law and not to register, thus causing massive amounts of disruption trying to find them negating the benefit needed to support the rubbish policies of the government at that time.

Why the leaders of the free world in America find it justifiable to leave voters in a position of being disenfranchised by underhanded methods beggars belief.

Subject: Germany may send troops to Iraq if Kerry elected

Why is this not the top story today? The mainstream media has shown Bush mocking John Kerry's Iraq solutions for a month - over and over again. Now, we have a major traditional U.S. ally basically saying that Kerry's proposals make sense and Germany may send troops if Kerry is elected. It is only fair to cover this since you have spent so much time showcasing Bush mocking Kerry's concepts on this subject.

Germany might deploy troops in Iraq if conditions there change, Peter Struck, the German de fence minister, indicated yesterday in a gesture that appears to provide backing for John Kerry, the US Democratic presidential challenger.

...Mr Struck also welcomed Mr Kerry's proposal that, as president, he would convene an international conference on Iraq.

Germany would certainly attend, Mr Struck said. "This is a very sensible proposal. The situation in Iraq can only be cleared up when all those involved sit together at one table. Germany has taken on responsibilities in Iraq, including financial ones; this would naturally justify our involvement in such a conference."

Subject: the great divider

I find it amazing that some of my republican friends are still so blindly following this administration without any questions, objections, suspicions and with a total disregard of the facts. We have discussions about the republican attack machine, dirty tricks, lies, spins and misleading statements. But I am the one that always gets attacked as the loony uninformed liberal. Even when the true facts are put in front of them, slap them in the face and are presented so there can not be any doubt, they will spin and spin and repeat the daily republican talking points.

Every day, and I do mean every day, there is an article about a GOP- controlled company or group that destroys democrat registration forms, pre-checks the republican box on registration forms, loses forms that have been filled out or have questionable tactics with the election process. Again, every day, the news has stories about Kerry lawn signs stolen or defaced, Kerry bumper stickers removed, people losing their jobs because they display a Kerry sign, refused service or access to stores because they wear an anti-Bush button or t-shirt. A Bush audience is pre-screened and pre-selected while any opposition is forced into a "free speech" zone far away from the event. All this seems just fine with half the voters. Can you just imagine how the GOP would SCREAM if the democrats did the exact same thing?

George Bush has not just divided the country and divided the world, he has most sadly, divided my friends.
