THIS IS PART 2 OF THE JULY 14, 2004 BUZZFLASH MAILBAG. CLICK HERE FOR PART 1. dick, go f--- yourself cheney said someone mentioned to him that edwards got his job because he was so good looking and sexy, then cheney said "HOW DO YOU THINK I GOT THIS JOB?") UM, didn't he pick himself? :) so i guess dick thinks he is good looking and sexy. :):) A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: Buzz, please help publicize this Said by Teresa Heinz Kerry at recent fundraiser:
Leslie Smith Subject: ANOTHER FOUR YEARS OF THIS BULLSHIT Here is what another four years of Bush/Cheney will bring: A depression 100 times worse than the one that happened in the 1930s; The end of free speech; Dissenters hauled into jail for disagreeing with the government; Poor people starving in the streets; No left-wing radio shows, no left-wing TV talk shows and no left-wing magazines; War, war, war. All of this will be a reality if Bush/Cheney are allowed to steal another election. The Republicans are depending on those faulty voting machines to keep them in the White House so they can further terrorize America. Unless somebody gets rid of all these machines, this country is in a shitload of trouble. Shirley D.
Jackson Subject: Terror Let me get this straight. According to lying George we are safer now that Saddam Hussein is out of power. According to Tom Ridge we could have a major terror attack that could kill a lot of people and cause the need for the suspension and postponement of our election. Is it possible that the next act of terrorism will be home grown planned and executed by Conservative Radicals to keep lying George in power? Just wondering. Scott Subject: Bush still insisting upon links between Saddam Hussein & Al Qaeda...
15 Saudi hijackers and 4 other Arab terrorists were residing in the U.S. prior to committing the 9-11 attacks, so if we're being asked to support Bush & McLellan's inane correlation, should it not then be automatically be presumed that this fact is ALSO the smoking gun which inexorably links Bush & the US government with Al Qaeda? Does this mean that Bush & Co. supported terrorism and aided and abetted those terrorists operating secretly on US soil for YEARS prior to their successful attack on 9-11? Does this mean that because there were terrorist cells operating in Germany that the German government supported terrorism and should have been bombed as well? Or because there are definitive reports of terrorist cells operating in Canada, Britain, Spain & Indonesia, that the Pentagon ought to pre-emptively attack Toronto, London, Madrid & Jakarta???? Why didn't the journalist follow up on that silly WH statement with questions like the ones posed above? What a bunch of MORONS! Why isn't the press stomping all over this administration's back-pedaling & out-right lies? Is the public still buying their rhetoric? For SURE they are, based on the uptick of support for Bush since the recent Ridge 'terror alert' but which amazingly didn't even raise the color coded "alert level"... Reading stuff is just sad to me, just more of the same bulls**t we've been handed for 3 1/2 years now... Like someone recently mused, Bush could publicly behead someone, and he'd probably still win re-election... MP in Vancouver Subject: New BuzzFlash plug-in for Mac users Hi, I'm a Mac user and a daily reader of BuzzFlash. Thanks for all you do! I recently requested a software developer to add your site to his offerings in a little Mac program called MacReporter. This morning he sent me an email to announce he had finished it. You can see the software at http://www.inferiis.com/products/macreporter. It adds your feed to a slick applet that runs in the Mac OS X toolbar. I'm all kinds of happy now. MacReporter with a BuzzFlash plug-in puts all your links in at my fingertips. I thought you'd want to see it. Pass the word onto my fellow Mac/BuzzFlash addicts! Regards, David McNally Subject: Liars Bush-Cheney and their nest of vipers have lied to America - and only liars will vote for them! An avid BuzzFlash reader Subject: Gay Marriage I have the solution to the whole gay marriage issue. I know it's right because it came from my son. I told him about the vote coming up in the Senate to amend the Constitution to deny Gays the right to marry. My brilliant son said, "If someone doesn't like gay marriage, then they shouldn't marry a gay person." Exactly. Meantime, lines I wish the Dems (or Kerry Camp) would use: When Bush attacks Kerry as not wanting to protect women because Kerry didn't vote for the Laci Peterson Law, I really need to see Dems out there pointing out that the Laci Peterson Law has absolutely NOTHING to do with protecting women. Not one woman will ever be saved by that law. It's only purpose is to protect right-wing Repugs running for re-election, in a sick attempt to pander to women's fears and play on their emotions by exploiting a horrible tragedy. When Repugs bring up the $87 Billion Iraq Appropriations Bill that Kerry voted against, we really need to be bringing up the fact that it originally had an amendment that would have made war-profiteering in Iraq illegal. The Repugs took it off. Why aren't we talking about that? Why didn't this whole country rise up when our Congress said, in effect, that war profiteering in Iraq was just ducky? Because our media let that one slip thru, that's why. Let's start bringing this up, frequently. When Repugs demand the tape of the fundraiser, tell them, sure, as soon as we get the Energy Task Force papers, the name of the felon who outed Valerie Plame, the rest of Bush's missing National Guard records. Every Dem talking head should be out there saying, yeah, we'll release it if you release, ________, and insert something different every time. Actually, forget all that. Just say that we'll release the tape of the fundraiser as soon as the Bushies agree to play, on national TV (how 'bout at the Repuglican National Convention?), the ENTIRE tape of Bush looking stunned and guilty in that classroom on 9/11, with a split screen of people at the World Trade Center dying while he sat glassy-eyed and impotent. Roll on, November! Ruth Lopez Subject: Silencing a Nation . . . Remember the Duct Tape ? BuzzFlash, Do people realize that if we have another "attack" regardless of who does it, that any attack will be a "giant" affirmation that the Bush administration cannot and will not protect this nation from terrorism . . . that the Bush administration has been concentrating all of their efforts toward their own agenda? I am stressed out by the latest news that they (the Bush regime) are thinking of postponing the election. Of course, they will want the cooperation of the Democratic members in Congress. I can't help but feel that "the bully on the block" will not stop because there is no one stepping up to stop him. We cannot allow this administration to steal another election regardless of how they scheme to do it! Yes, they will stop the election if people just sit back like we did when the Supreme Court "stopped" the election in Florida. The threats alone will probably stop many people from voting. That is what they want. I remember that many people took the duct tape advice from this fraudulent administration and a few people were smothered because of it. This is another "duct tape" ploy to silence people. I believe the Bush administration will continue to threaten Americans up until the day to vote and by then, if people are not too scared to stay home, yes, they will kill some of us. If lies started a war that are responsible for the deaths and injuries of thousands, why do people think death matters to this administration. How many deaths are too many? Whatever it takes . . . they will do! Unless there are some strong American leaders out there somewhere, we have a lose, lose situation. When is enough going to be enough! When are our Democratic leaders going to say . . . stop already . . . stop . . . enough is enough! Weapons of Mass Destruction? Shock and Awe? What exactly does that mean? Whether they use threats towards our members of Congress so they will vote to stop the election, duct tape advice for a citizen's protection, or constant threats of terrorism that strike fear into the hearts of many Americans . . . so fearful that they will not leave their homes . . . these tactics, too, are weapons of mass destruction used to shock people into non-action . . . nonvoting . . . a silencing technique. Actions, such as these used by the Bush administration are WMD that can hold a nation hostage then . . . tranquilize and exterminate Democracy as we know it. The silence is deafening! Thank BuzzFlash, Shirley Smith Subject: Nader Running for President - Backed by GOP Regarding "Nader Running for President - Backed by GOP" which has been receiving much press lately; especially in Michigan: I just reviewed the CNN polls regarding the November election and it shows that when Ralph Nader is put into the equation of who you would vote for there is a significant tendency for the Bush/Cheney ticket to lose more votes that the Kerry/Edwards ticket. This is not just a recent or one time anomaly; but, appears a trend since January. I realize that pollees have learned how to sway polls so that results are skewed; however, I find this an interesting analysis. CNN is a valid, legitimate polling group. Does this mean that Nader pulls more of Bush's support than Kerry's? Explanation, the Republican moderates want someone they can vote for. Could this backfire on them? Bill Wheeler Subject: Guess Who's Going to Dinner with Diebold, Sequoia, and Electronic ES&S? The Groups Responsible for Insuring Electronic Votes Are Secure. Dear BuzzFlash, Guess Who's Going to Dinner with Diebold, Sequoia, and Electronic ES&S? The Groups Responsible for Insuring Electronic Votes Are Secure. When speakers from the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) attend the August 24-28, 2004, Election Center's conference for federal and state election employees in Washington, DC, they will be participating in a huge conflict of interest as they eat, drink, and make-merry at the Diebold, Sequoia, and ES&S (voting machine vendors) sponsored events. Sequoia Voting Systems is co-sponsor for a dinner cruise on the Potomac and a monuments by night tour. A welcome reception compliments of Diebold with ES&S throwing in a graduation luncheon and awards ceremonies. It being Washington, members of the House and Senate are also invited. Supposedly an independent bipartisan agency, the EAC was appointed by President George W. Bush following the Election Fiasco of 2000, and is authorized by the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) to serve as "...a national clearinghouse and resource for the comparison of information" on various matters involving the administration of Federal elections. Apparently, he EAC wants to be more than a clearinghouse -- EAC Chairman, DeForest Soaries**, recently authored a letter to Homeland Security czar, Tom Ridge, requesting his agency be "the statutory authority to cancel and reschedule a federal election" if a terrorist attack is launched in the U.S. As a result, Ridge's office has requested that the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel analyze what legal steps would be needed to permit the postponement of the election were an attack to take place. **Note: Soaries, a Bush appointee and Baptist pastor, two years ago was an unsuccessful GOP candidate for Congress. The Election Center is a nonprofit organization, which trains election workers and advises Congress and government agencies on election process issues. The Election Center also provides staff services to the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED) for the voting systems program. NASED is responsible for the testing and certification (through independent laboratories) of voting systems hardware and software manufactured by Diebold, Sequoia, and ES&S Disturbing! -- It could not be more inappropriate for this non-profit, non-partisan organization to accept money and funding from Diebold, Sequoia, and ES&S whose machines they are tasked to monitor. The Election Center executive director, R. Doug Lewis, confirmed in March that the Center has taken donations from all three vendors. The Sequoia donations surfaced on the Center’s latest 990 IRS filing. It revealed donations of $10,000 per year from 1997 through 2000. According to the conference schedule, one of the big topics of the day is "The Media: Fighting Back--Getting the Story Straight." Is the Election Center suggesting that it is now the responsibility or duty of election officials to influence media coverage and reporting that has in the past, been highly critical of the many documented failures and flaws of these companies voting machines? (One analysis reveals that votes were not recorded for one out of 100 votes using the new ATM-style machines -- eight times more than pencil marks on paper ballots in the same election!)? Write, email or call the EAC and the Election Center. Ask them to seek other sponsorship or funding that does not reflect such an egregious conflict of interest. Ask your representatives or senators in the 108th Congress to get off their butts, and practice a little oversight. Maybe they could even pass some legislation that would actually secure that most basic American right –the right to vote and be counted. A Faithful and Thankful Reader, Amanda Lang Augusta, GA Subject: Who do you believe us, or Michael Moore: Tom Brokaw of course! Yeah, right! The attacks against Michael Moore, (they can't attack the movie, its been fact checked by 12 lawyers, and Michaels' offering $10,000 to anyone who finds an untruth), are because he exposes the corporate media for the whores they are, and the attacks just keep coming, as the reporting on the war was complicit with bushes war crimes. Developing! A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: postponing the elections hi all: all this talk about the november elections being postponed is freaking me out as much as it is everyone else. i can just see this happening. i don't believe that bushco will go quietly into the night. bush will only leave the white house leaving big claw marks in the carpet. so, what if.......what if....since i for one am chomping at the bit trying to figure out something to DO about all this....what if we were, as US citizens, to start writing letters to the UN? saying, we believe that our country has been overtaken and they're already saying they're coming up with plans to call off our elections and we as citizens are protesting? i mean, would it be possible to go over bush's head? Jan Royston Thanks so much for the fabulous service you do each day--you have become my main source for news and info! I wanted to let you (and your readers) know about an exhibit that is touring the country. It's called "Eyes Wide Open" and it chronicles the war in Iraq. Below is the link to their website. I haven't seen it yet, but it will be in my area next week. I hope you can include the link on the website. Thanks, Lyn Willard Subject: Osama is smiling July 13, 2004 Dear Buzz, Last night I watched the most trustworthy and skeptical news show at 10:00 p.m. –The Daily Show with John Stewart. Stewart’s guest was CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. Stewart asked Blitzer if they (meaning the real journalists and news readers) were intimidated by the Bush Administration and that is why they all got it (meaning WMD, and the threat posed by Iraq) wrong. Blitzer bluntly said, “No.”He further stated, rather matter-of-factly, that they were all just not skeptical enough. Oops. Oh well. It just infuriates me to see so many who failed at their job act like it was just a little mistake, now let’s move on to John Kerry’s hair. Excuse me! Just over 1,000 coalition troops have been killed (almost 900 of which were Americans). Somewhere around 16,000 American troops have been seriously wounded, losing arms, legs, eyes, and worse. And let’s not forget the “collateral damage”that we don’t keep track of –the estimated 10 to 20 thousand innocent Iraqis who have been killed by our mistake. The US government may not count them, but organizations like the International Red Cross and Human Rights Watch do, as do their families and friends, and God. Oops. Oh Well. We all make mistakes. Yes, we all make mistakes. But most of our mistakes don’t kill and injure thousands of other human beings. Most of our mistakes don’t cost future taxpayers billions of dollars. And most of our mistakes are forgivable. The war with Iraq was not just another minor mistake. And the war with Iraq is not forgivable. It is proving to be one of the worst mistakes ever made by our country. The USA is supposed to be a great beacon of bravery, freedom and hope for the world. And just look at us now. As a recent poll of Europeans proves, we are seen as a stubborn and arrogant bully posing the greatest threat to the world. And as our forefathers roll in their graves, somewhere in a cave in Pakistan Osama bin Laden is smiling. Brent Wilcox Subject: FBI non-investigation of itself If you'd like to view the letters to the FBI, from Senators Grassley and Leahy, and to read the transcripts from CBS' "60 Minutes" that covered Sibel Edmonds' revelations about the FBI's handling of problems within it's Translation Department, please go to: http://www.thememoryhole.org/spy/edmonds_letters.htm. I believe Ms. Edmonds has proven to be a loyal and patriotic American citizen who has tried to perform her duties in an honest and competent manner. For that the FBI fired her. How can we protect ourselves from terrorists when we have such incompetence within our own intelligence agencies? Why isn't this news presented as a part of our national security issues as much as Tom Ridge's recent "terror alert"? After you've read the posting, please share it with others before it's no longer available. Thanks for your hard work to keep the American people informed and for trying to learn more about how the attacks on September 11, 2001 were allowed to happen. Sincerely, Neb Conner Subject: Jim Lehrer/Clinton Dear BuzzFlash Readers: This is in answer to the person who asked about why Clinton would be stating what he did to Jim Lehrer.... according to:
hope this helps. Mary in Indiana Subject: RNC - Controlling the message Anyone note the way the Bush administration put the Whoopi Goldberg commentary of Bush at the Kerry fundraiser. She made some jokes and used some of the same language Cheney used. I am not sure exactly what was said but it was all over the news papers the very next day. A repuke induced "controversy". AND Kerry was FORCED to RESPOND to the right, AGAIN. It was very crafty the way one Bush operative put the matter " HE WRAPPED HIS ARMS AROUND...<pause>....THIS". This group is despicable. On top of that Mr. Hunt at CNN's the Capital Gang called Ms. Goldberg A FOOL! I let out the biggest Cheney F-bomb. My son's friends wondered what was wrong. My son just shook his head and responded she's watching the news. They are teenagers. Now, these are reports about how the Kerry's have PHOTO OPS and reports on how their wives deliberately dress down, and how Kerry and Edwards are touching each other to get the gay vote. These articles are supposedly from legitimate REPORTERS. I wonder where all this vigor in reporting was during the lead-up to the war or as it relates currently to the BILLIONS we have been spending as taxpayers for BUSH PHOTO-OPS to Ireland and the Vatican. Kerry and Edwards will get no where catering and responding to "controversies" classified as such by wingnuts. Also, as a black woman, Mr. Kerry and Mr. Edwards are walking a very tight line with me. One more attempt and TRIANGULATION and you will have initiated a STRANGULATION as far as this voter is concerned. PJOnes Subject: Ken Lay on Larry King Live Surely someone will write an article on this show (7/12) as it is an almost comical attempt by Ken Lay to defend himself to the American Public just days after he has plead not guilty to 12 criminal acts. He considers himself "innocent until proven guilty." Larry asks him if he is financially "ok." He answers it depends on how one defines "ok." Come on. Ken Lay's wife's closet is likely bigger than the average home of the average American. Ken Lay's automobile is worth more than the average American's annual income. He knew his company was about to fall, he allowed it to fall into the hands of all it's investors while making as much money as he personally could just moments before the fall, and now he is being held accountable. Surely someone will write an article on this pathetic attempt to find a warm spot in the media and public eye. James C. Subject: Postpone the election? Dear Mr. Rove, Would you please explain to the American people WHICH SPECIFIC ACTIONS you and your despicable Bush dictatorship would PREVENT by postponing the November election? How EXACTLY would a terrorist attack, let's say a bomb going off in a mall in the Midwest, create a nationwide security breakdown in the 49 other states, thereby requiring the cancellation of the national election? Would the voting machines across the country spontaneously explode, thereby placing millions of voters at risk of imminent bodily harm and requiring the immediate cancellation of all voting? Would swarms of terrorists storm the thousands of precincts across the country and prevent voters from participating in our democratic process?? Would Osama Bin Laden take Sean Hannity hostage, commandeer the Faux News airwaves, and brainwash the sheeple into performing mass gay marriage ceremonies, eating French brie and drinking French wine while listening to the Dixie Chicks full blast, thereby destroying the very fabric of our God-Given White Anglo Saxon Christian Fundamentalist Corporate-Owned Gun-Totin' Republican American Family Values Way of Life Itself and hence the only way to save that Way of Life Itself would be to CANCEL THE ELECTION?? OH, that's right...I forgot. The ONLY thing that postponing the election would accomplish would be the landslide defeat of your puppet George W. Bush. And the only way he can "win" is to cancel the game. Well Mr. Rove, why don't you go "Cheney yourself!" WE the People are not going to let you do this. Signed elaine in Petaluma PS On Lou Dobbs tonight the poll question was: "Should the issue of gay marriage be settled by an amendment to the Constitution?" 93%, that's
NINETY THREE PERCENT, said NO Subject: Phony Terrorists Hey again Buzz I just read, "Fury over Pentagon cell that briefed White House on Iraq's 'imaginary' al Qaeda links." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtm... Buzzers, print and show the above article to everyone you know. Just when you think it can't get any more bizarre, that there must be a limit to the evil of this administration, we read that the Pentagon set up a phony Iraqi terrorist cell to "sex-up" the intelligence to start a bloody, costly war. Did they try to pass themselves off as Muslims? It would be ludicrous, except that they really are terrorists. If the US went to war based partly on their "intelligence", they're directly responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of human beings: men, women, children, soldiers and civilians. More than were killed at Ground Zero, the theme park of war profiteers, if you let it become that, the centrepiece of the Republican convention. Phony or not, the Justice Department should arrest these murdering assholes, including their boss, for treason under the Patriot Act, and then get rid of the Patriot Act. If Feith was in on this, I can't imagine that Rummy and Wolfie weren't. I can imagine them chuckling as they played with their toy soldiers. They should glue American flags to these guys and drop them off, unarmed, at the gates of Fallujah. I've been a pacifist all my life but I'd like to introduce them to al-Zarqawi and his butchers. Every American family that has lost a loved one in this stupid, immoral war, and those who grieve for them, should march on Washington to demand justice, and any remaining sane Americans should join them. (I include all the loyal readers of my beloved BuzzFlash.) How many more innocent people (American and Iraqi) will have to die to satisfy PNAC's bloodlust? Resignations are not enough. It's time for a new American revolution before the November elections are POSTPONED. Down with King George. Time to start the war crimes trials. Think how this will add to the hatred and derision of the United States abroad. How can the US government have any credibility at the Iraq trials? Is this American freedom? Could a loving Jesus really approve of Bush, Cheney and their buddies? If there is a Hell, they've bought themselves one-way tickets. Write and let them know they are damned and cursed. Do as much as you can to stop Bushcorp. Volunteer or send a cheque to the Kerry/Edwards campaign. I can't because I'm Canadian. Boycott Walmart, Home Depot and all the other huge corporations that support the Bushies. Be sure to let them know why you'll no longer be doing business with them. You may even help to save local businesses. Flood the congress and the senate with emails and snailmail. Tell them not to be afraid, that you'll stand up with them. This technique has been very effective for Amnesty International. Subscribe to right-wing newspapers, then write letters to the editors to explain why you are cancelling. Try anything. This might be the most important thing you'll do in your life. P. Coombs Subject: Morality? From this regime? After reading today’s (July 14th) BuzzFlash lead by Maureen Farrell, I sent the following letter to the people on my email list; I’d like to share it with you who read BuzzFlash -
Norman Weinstein Subject: Bumpersticker? Hey fellow Buzzers: Let me float an idea: what would you think of being able to slap on a bumpersticker with the Roosevelt quote, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself"? It just came to me in a flash as I was thinking about the insidious plan of Bushco. to disrupt the election process. A BuzzFlash devotee |
