Hitler was decisive, Charles Manson was decisive, Ted Bundy and Jeffery Dahlmer...George bush is decisive. We think Kerry must have been pretty decisive on that boat in Vietnam, and even better...HIS DECISIONS ARE CORRECT! A BuzzFlash Reader
Subject: Your News Analysis Made an Excellent Flyer @F 9/11. Learning of the Administration's trial balloon to postpone the elections got me really mad.I printed up your news analysis "Bush Cartel Talks of Steps to Potentially Cancel ('Postpone') the Presidential Election: This is for Real Folks!" along with phone numbers of my senators and representative, and drove downtown and passed them out to F 9/11 viewers. I have been doing a lot of registering and canvassing this summer and I received the most powerful response to date. People's jaws dropped. Keep following this story and I'll keep passing out your articles. R. David Goldberg BuzzFlash Note: An update... Bush Cartel Suddenly Decides It Won't Seek Power to Postpone the Presidential Election. Yeah, Sure, Right. Wait for a Slow News Friday to Announce That They Have Assumed This Power. 7/14
Subject: Re: Matt Drudge, A Gay Who Backs Gay Bashers Hiya BuzzFlash! Matt Drudge's headline "Can't Keep Their Hands Off Each Other" gave me quite the giggle. This "developing" article was such a desperately low blow that it's highly unlikely anyone with a maturity level above third grade gave it any merit. Honestly, I look forward to more Kerry-Edwards love-collages and find it quite endearing that these two men are comfortable enough in their own sexuality to be so openly affectionate with one another. For the past four years, I've often felt isolated in my despair over the appointment and advancement of the Bush banana republic. Seeing these candidates embrace gives me hope that we're finally accruing the safety in numbers necessary to stand up to this international bully and his global network of loyal toadies.Your pal, Erin Ferdinand
Subject: News Tip Bush Schedules Last Minute Trip to All White Upper Peninsula of Michigan for Tuesday July 13, Having Said He Couldn't Attend NAACP convention in Philadelphia This Week for "Scheduling Reasons." Bush is the first President since 1920 to not address the NAACP convention, which happens this week. He declined through his scheduler in early July to attend NAACP this week, citing "scheduling" problems. http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/nation/9132823.htm?1c However, it was only this past Thursday July 8, that Bush confirmed a trip to my home turf, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, scheduled for Tuesday July 13, right in the middle of the NAACP convention. He will address up to 11,000 at an indoor dome, with tickets given out free only on Sunday. See: http://www.miningjournal.net/news/story/078202004_new01-n0708.asp The UP of Michigan happens to be the whitest area in America, or very close to it. ( Iowa, the whitest state at 95% white; Eastern UP has 5.3% African Americans. See: http://www.michworks-upnorth.org/BSP.htm.) The UP also figured into the affirmative action debate at the Univ. of Michigan that went to the Supreme Court, because UP students get points at U of M, and these will all be white students. Bush's schedule was "too busy" for the NAACP, but he had time to fly to the remote and virtually all-white UP and do a rally that no one had even thought of until a couple days ago. Incidentally, Bush was in lower Michigan on Wednesday, July 7, so this will be the second trip to Michigan in less than a week. http://www.freep.com/news/politics/bush8_20040708.htm Paul

Subject: November surprise I'm extremely concerned about the current "discussion" about postponing the general election in November. The matter has already been referred to the Department of Justice for a "legal opinion." Ahem. A truly legal opinion from John Ashcroft and company? That's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.I think it would be wise to start alerting all groups via the internet that huge protest rallies MUST be organized around the country IMMEDIATELY to make our voices heard. We will need hundreds of thousands of people in all the major cities to create a groundswell against this abomination-in-the-making. Yesterday (July 12th) CNN, of all sources, ran a poll with 81 percent voting against possible postponement even in the event of a major attack, so there are plenty of people willing to take part in massive protests. But we need to start making our preparations right now -- before we get railroaded again -- by alerting blogs, forums, etc.! Sharon Andrews
Subject: My take I read the 7/12 mailbag and the possible cancellation of the '04 election was top dog reading. Well, here's my take on the subject. These clowns won't be so blatant about cancelling the election. I look for Rove to float [so-called] chatter that Al Qaeda is talking about terrorizing the Democratic convention. A-ha! There 'ya go, bingo! In steps Bush the savior, and he tells the country that he will not allow this to happen, thus postponing the '04 election. Bush comes out a hero. Americans say that they don't want to see Americans killed over an election and go with the flow. Yep, this will all be done in our interests and protections by the King. Think it can't happen? Would you have ever guessed all that happened in the 2000 election? Would you have ever guessed all that Bush has gotten away with in the last 3 1/2 years? This crowd is capable of anything and everything. ~ Cathy
Subject: before the bombs... Bush's attitude toward the NAACP is the same attitude he had before bombing Iraq. If your opinion differs from what I want to do, then I will refuse to listen to it. If you do not fawn all over me and treat me like a king, then I want nothing to do with you. There were plenty of dissenting opinions out there. Bush just refused to hear them! DA
Subject: matt drudge, gay republicans and the atocha I once asked an acquaintance why his flamboyantly gay -- but successful -- friend was an outspoken Republican. His reply, as if it were a reasonable explanation, was, "It's just about money." Yes, people are willing to die for money. Sometimes they call it "freedom." Sometimes they call it "democracy." Sometimes they call it "morality." But it's about money. In other times, when rich Europeans were traveling to colonies here and there around the world, in order to protect their wealth they hired craftsmen to make the gold and jewels into long chains which were then worn wrapped around the body underneath their clothing, invisible to robbers and thieves. Unfortunately, when -- as often as not -- a fierce storm sank the ship on reef or rocks, most of the passengers and crew could swim in the shallow waters to shore and safety. But the rich, under the weight of their immense wealth, were pulled straight to bottom where they drowned. It's a story I heard in the Caribbean from those who salvaged the wealth of a well-known Spanish wreck, the Atocha. Bob D.
Subject: Thank you for today's headline: Matt Drudge, a Gay who backs the Gay Bashers Dear BuzzFlash: I have been an avid reader of your site since January of 2004. You have provided me with valuable information I would not have been able to find elsewhere. I must also commend your staff on its open support of the GLBT community. As an out and proud gay man in America today, I am humbled by the support I receive from my straight family and friends. I include BuzzFlash in my category of friends. Yes, I'm sure there are openly gay people working for the site, but as in society, gays are in the minority. When your site takes up the issue of equal rights for gays, you are helping society to become a safer place for gay people. You might not hear this enough, but us gay people really need straight people like you on our side. We need your support and encouragement, and I thank you from the bottom of my bleeding liberal heart for your ongoing openness toward the issue of equal rights for gays. With that said, I am so proud of you for stating the obvious in regards to Matt Drudge. It is quite obvious that he is a self-hating person, as well as a closeted (still to some degree) homophobic homosexual. The homophobic homosexual is a very dangerous person in society, more so than the homophobic straight person. To hate one's self so much because one is gay and to turn that hatred against other gays is deeply troubling for me. I cannot understand the deep level of self-loathing that people like Matt Drudge subject themselves to. Of course, one is tempted to blame any number of sources for this hatred. Ultimately, it comes down to how one reacts to these sources, and Drudge has chosen to direct his hatred of his gayness toward other gays. Regardless of the source, one is always responsible for one's own actions. I think we should, to a degree, feel sorry for queers like Drudge. However, we should not put up with his homophobic attempts to spew even more hate. In times like these, let's remove the kid gloves and call a queer "a queer." I, for one, am fed up with this kind of crap, so please allow me to voice my anger: Matt Drudge, you are a disgusting individual, a self-hating and homophobic homosexual who should seek immediate psychiatric help for your many character flaws. Because of your past deeds, I'm not even sure you are worthy of my pity. You are, however, most deserving of my scorn. There, I feel much better. Thank you for allowing me to vent. Please keep up the great work with the website. As soon as my finances allow, I will be making a donation to the site for its continuation. Sincerely, John

Subject: Re: Report Questions Values of Tom Ridge's Color Coded Alerts I have to say that this absolutely useless alert system is one of the biggest dumbass ideas this administration has had. I think it's a perfect example of what happens when you try to dumb down society to match some so-called common denominator. Usually it's consumer product manufacturers trying to reduce life to what's safe for a child -- remember child-proof lighters that adults couldn't use but kids could? Only in this case, the color coded alert system is trying to dumb down the nation to match dubya's first grade grasp on the world around him. Oh, I'm sorry, "My Pet Goat" reads to a slightly older age, more like fifth grade. In any case, I figure the top administration officials liked this system because they only need to shout "Yellow!" at the shrub so he knows what's going on, and they'd call that a presidential briefing. If they shout "Orange!" he heads for the bunker. Heaven knows what he'd do if they yelled "Red!" If they don't dump this idiotic system before the election, I sure hope Prez Kerry does something about making protecting this country a serious, adult matter. Sue
Subject: Postponing elections Dear BuzzFlash, Lost lately in the news about postponing the elections here in the U.S. is the REASON that the Spanish voted Aznar out of office. It wasn't fear of terrorism -- indeed, the bombings drove people to the polls, with turnout at 76% (see Voters Oust Spanish Government -- CBS News) -- rather, the voters were miffed at Aznar's party because they felt they had been lied to in the immediate aftermath of the bombings. It was the government's response and perceived lies, not fear of Al Qaeda, that drove the results. Furthermore, it is not at all clear that Al Qaeda was responsible for the Madrid attacks. An article printed in the NYTimes yesterday (and reprinted today here: Talkative bomber sheds light on terror operations --The Straits Times) profiles the alleged mastermind. Nowhere is there a discussion of any ties to Al Qaeda or Bin Laden. He's just another garden-variety jihadist whose hatred and efforts have been stoked by the Iraq war. Finally, frankly, if Al Qaeda had planned the Madrid bombings, the plan likely backfired. It could not have been foreseeable to whomever planned the bombings -- if affecting the election was the goal -- that the government would lie about the identity of the bombers. Rather, it was likely the goal to have Spaniards scared into voting for Aznar, so as to maintain the strength and resolve of the coalition in Iraq, whose business there is VERY, VERY good for terrorist recruiting operations. Clearly, Al Qaeda would adore a Bush re-election here, as the fundamentalist Muslim freak vs. fundamentalist Christian freak world war only helps their cause -- and hurts ours. In fact, if a greater role for religion in government, fewer rights for women, hatred of homosexuality, and blind, unquestioning worship of a vindictive and violent god are Al Qaeda's goals, then they are succeeding wildly in transforming our nation to their liking. Subject: A crazy thought about McCain Hey Buzz and Fellow BuzzFlash Patriots, I've been thinking a lot about John McCain's supposed support of Bush the Lesser. And here is a crazy idea that I just can't seem to get rid of: McCain survived a five-year ordeal as a POW. None of us knows what types of deprivation, not to mention torture (mental, physical or emotional) that he had to endure. Regardless, not only did he survive with his mind and body in tact, he took that experience and became one of the most respected leaders of our time. Regardless of whether you support his issues, he is widely known for integrity and doing what he believes in. That does not happen by accident, and I think it is a clear indication that this guy has a mind like a steel trap. All the more reason why his about-face seems so shocking to us. Now, along the way to becoming a successful politician, he built a beautiful family, and adopted a child (children?) who were themselves most likely victims of poverty, oppression or war. My feeling is that you just don't MESS with the family of a man like McCain....NEVER, EVER do you mess with his wife, his kids; especially kids he has taken under his protection and given a new life. How dare Bush mess with an innocent child like that??? I think that McCain despises Bush, that McCain KNOWS what a weasely cowardly spoiled morally corrupt intellectually challenged wanna-be dictator he is. I think that McCain has declared war on Bush, in his heart, for the despicable and devastating tactics Bush used on McCain's FAMILY during the 2000 election. Just as McCain will never forget the hurt he suffered as a POW, the MORE SO he will not forget that his precious family was hurt by Bush. McCain is biding his time. He is putting his reputation, hard-won and the core of his power, on the line. Why? Because McCain is using this time of Bush's plummeting support and respect to get closer and closer to his enemy Bush, getting Bush to trust him, and in fact, NEED him. And when Bush is dependent on McCain for gravitas, respectability and VOTES, McCain will go in for the political kill. He will act on his conscience, his beliefs, and on his integrity and back out of supporting Bush and may even blow the whistle on BushCo all together. I just don't believe McCain has really changed deep inside; he is playing a powerful game, and I believe that those life-changing personality-forming POW and family experiences are much more powerful than any bullshit GOP platform they could tempt him with. And for those who think BushCo may "have" something on McCain.....I am sure McCain has MUCH MORE on the entire GOP including Rove Bush Rumsfeld, etc. than they could ever have on him. He will teach Bush and Rove: Don't mess with the family. This may be a crazy concept, but anyway, thanks for listening!! elaine in Petaluma
Subject: Kerry and Edwards innuendo Hey Buzzers,While I was reading BF's editorial about Matt Drudge's insinuation that Kerry and Edwards are not "manly men," I got an email message from RightMarch.com. They're soliciting money for an ad in Boston-area newspapers asking Kerry and Edwards to resign because they've missed so many votes. But I think they want to say more than that. Check it out for yourselves: http://www.rightmarch.com/contest.htm Jaw hanging in disbelief at the SLIME of them all. Shannon in Lexington
Subject: This ridiculous issue and a waste of time While
my memory on history is not always good, I remember that marriage
historically was about property, not religion. This "debate" over
same-sex marriage is getting a bit tiresome. Less than 100 years ago, children were considered the property of the father/husband. A father could sell a child to a craftsman to be apprenticed. The reason society condemned a woman who had a child out of wedlock was that no man could claim ownership of the child. Any
assets a woman had became the property of her husband on marriage
to spend however he thought fit. No one is forcing any church to conduct same-sex marriage ceremonies. So please, those who think they have the right to be the moral conscience for other people, just butt out. This is much ado about nothing. Bonnie

Subject: Ballot Signatures Hey Buzz, When I read a few weeks ago that Governor Jeb Bush of Florida, my home state, had removed the requirement that absentee ballots have a witness signature, I couldn't figure out why (FLORIDA ELECTION LAW: Bush defends dropping absentee-ballot witnesses (Miami Herald). I mean, it just didn't make any sense, at least not until I read the following from an article you posted from Florida Today. The following quote discusses how military ballots were handled in the 2000 election: Knowing many of the military votes would go for Bush, GOP lawyers pressed county canvassing boards to count as many of the ballots as possible. The Republicans in Florida will now have one less obstacle to overcome regarding military ballots. Never mind the fact that witness signatures are a tool that election officials use to detect voter fraud. Looks like the Bush brothers have struck again! Tom

Subject: my letter to CNN After seeing endless speculation on various CNN programs about terrorists attacking America in order to affect the election, I've sent the following letter to CNN. There has been much talk lately about terrorists striking in the US in order to affect the election. It makes me wonder about a couple of things. First of all, what effect would a terrorist attack in the US have on the election? Would it cause Americans to rally around their president, and thus benefit George Bush, or would it cause them to further lose confidence in President Bush and his ability to protect them? The answer to that question is eminently debatable. Jack

Subject: A Constitutional Abomination Congress is voting in 48 hours on a Constitutional Amendment about denying same sex marriage. This is MONSTROUS legislation. If we allow this administration to deny the rights of just ONE American, we all lose. I can feel the heat from the ovens already. This proposed amendment of hatred and discrimination has no place in our Constitution and certainly not in our beloved America. God does not discriminate, God does not preach hatred. This administration's beliefs and past actions show how little respect they have for anything or anyone. They wrap themselves in our flag while hypocrisy spews from their polluted and perverted minds. They have no honor, no humanity -- they are Spoilers. They are nothing but empty and cold, black holes. We must take back control of our country and vote these monsters out of office. Protest! Protest! Protest! Americans -- stand up for your rights and find a way to make your voices heard. If you love your country -- protect her. America is worth fighting for. Carol

Subject: Minute Maid Park Just got back from the All Star Game festivities. Was shocked and sickened by the Halliburton Bush Cheney lovefest. Pictures of Cheney, Bush the father, KB, dumbya everywhere. There is actually one section of the premises called "Halliburton Park." I was definitely looking for my anti-war protestors. No one made the connection on any reports I have seen thus far. One thing I noted was how Halliburton, and KB etc. have been involved in highway and STADIUM CONSTRUCTION for many years. They know where to get guaranteed money, in large amounts, very quickly, with very little oversight. P JonesMesquite
