Subject: Suggestion: Re: Spam

I don't know if anyone suggested this but one way to defeat a server's insistence that certain email is spam is to add the address of the "emailer" to your contacts list.

I have 'SBC/Yahoo' and no matter how many times I had marked emails from "The Nation" as "non-spam", they would still send it to my "bulk mail" folder. I simply added "The Nation's" address to my contacts and it no longer is marked as spam.

Subject: Bush and Nukes

Earlier this week, during his interview on PBS with Jim Lehrer, President Clinton informed the public that Bush is in the process of changing this country's nuclear policy such that he, Bush, has commissioned the manufacture of small nuclear weapons because he, Bush, intends to be the first to use nuclear weapons and be seen as justified in using them.

At least this was my take on what President Clinton said. You might want to get a tape of that interview and check it out for yourself.

My point is: Since hearing this in that interview, I've not heard another word about this -- anywhere! Why not? I would think this is EXTREMELY important news and everyone in the United States should be made aware of this new atrocity being foisted upon the world!

Could this be why the U.S. is now reporting a much higher level of insurgency in Iraq than had previously been reported?

Subject: It's almost like a James Thurber story collection.......

Dear Buzz,

The numerous "Alarms and Diversions" of the Bush administration as pertaining to terror, and bogeymen of various sorts, plus the increasingly mythic status of Osama bin Laden and the administrations hysterical screaming to capture him right away, seems a sort of pointless political runaround. It would be comical if it weren't for the numbers of our troops, i.e. our children, who continue to die for Bush and Rove's political games.

Buzz, we know that we do not know where bin Laden is. Many suspect he is dead, others claim he is in Pakistan, still others claim he is in the Azad area of Kashmir. But, we don't know. The administration has telegraphed this lack of knowing in recent news stories coming from Pakistan. So, playing some weird game of "Where's Waldo" when we have already been searching high and low for bin Laden looks to be as big a charade as the Saddam trial in Baghdad.

What we do know about bin Laden is that al Qaeda is not an Arabic version of the Gotti/Gambino crime family! It is not organized that way. Al Qaeda is not run in that manner. Al Qaeda seems to be more of an idea than a group. In reality, these terror masterminds are highly decentralized, loosely confederated, and drawn by a set of principles rather than a western style organizational scheme. But hey, the mainstream media has to put the issue into understandable forms for the public, right?

So, when I see the calls for Osama's head, and how al Zarqawi is a big-time bogeyman that can be blamed for US failures in Iraq, and how Pakistan is being pressured to produce Osama, and the brazen use of the terror alert system for political reasons, I am reminded of the increasing crescendo of mayhem that accompanies a James Thurber story like, "The Day the Dam Broke."

Buzz, Bush, his entire corrupt administration, and as many useless rubber-stamp GOP enablers as voters can possible send out of Washington, must GO! When they do, like Thurber remembering the burial of Mugs, the dog that bit people, let us erect a little sign reading "Cave neo-con-um" to remind us of the dismal, blundering record of Bush and his grisly gang of amateur thugs!

Thanks for the time, and for BuzzFlash,

Steve in Syracuse

Dear Senator McCain,

Most Americans fear the loss of their souls, those who read and think fear the loss of reason. At the end of the McCarthy Red Scare, Senator Joe was asked, "At long last Senator have you no sense of decency?" Your desire to be portrayed as a Maverick has sighed its last breath.Your endorsement of Bush for anything less then impeachment only confirms you lack the capacity for judgment of an individual who treats the Constitution and Bill Of Rights with arrogant contempt. The question that begs to be asked is when an individual possesses an office of honor but lacks soul, reason or decency, what can his constituency or the Nation hope for?

Well in reality, he may be the next President or possibly he might open a Savings & Loan.

Respectfully yours,

Subject: Bush Cartel Trial Balloon To Cancel The Election

Dear BuzzFlash,

There are several ways we could lose what's left of our democracy in November: the most flagrant, which you outline in your editorial today, is that elections could be postponed "temporarily" -- until conditions are better. And who knows when conditions will be better? Why, the paternalistic, self-serving Bush Cartel, that's who.

Of course, the the Bush Cartel has other methods at its disposal, such as stealing the election with the crooked electronic touch-screen and optical-scan voting machines.

As one person put it on Bev Harris's website, www.blackboxvoting.org, if you take away my right to vote, you take away your right to govern. Given the supine and passive manner in which they rolled over for the Rethuglicans in 2000, the Democrats can not be counted upon to stand up this time either. It's gotta be good, old we-the-people.

Not just progressives and liberals, but centrist Democrats, apoliticals and moderate Republicans need to start thinking out loud, mapping out potential courses of action if there is another Bush putsch in November. The most logical idea that occurs to me is some sort of general strike and massive civil disobedience, but perhaps there are other, better ideas.

Now that the Bush Cartel has shown its true colors regarding democracy in this country (never mind Iraq), American citizens must begin contingency planning in the event of a second Bush putsch.

Hi Buzz,

Did you see this from Dan Froomkin on June 25, 2004 in the Washington Post? (scroll down)

"Tomlin said the AP has been informed that the microfilm in question does indeed exist. Tomlin said that because paper records can vanish and be tampered with, the microfilm "would erase any questions"

So does, or doesn't the microfilm exist? "Who informed the AP that the microfilm "does indeed exist?"

IF the' wishy washy' DEMS like Lieberman, and old Miller, another Republican in DEM clothing cave in, then we are truly doomed-they better get their act together and vote NO on this one if it even is permitted to come to a vote. Moreover does the Bush Cartel have something lined up re an attack from his old 'bail me out" Saudis-wouldn't be surprised. Just asking?? Subject: Kerry should announce that nothing the terrorists could do will cancel election!

Kerry should throw down the gauntlet and accuse the Bushies of being so afraid that they will be intimidated by the rumors and try to cancel democracy to save us from Al Queda. What a coward! John Kerry will stand up for America and Democracy....come hell or high water.

George Bush is already anticipating retreat in the face of these terrorists. Bush is a pussy.

In response to the Bush Cartel cancelling the election-

Because Karl Rove and the Bush Cartel are so very, very good at propaganda and pre-emptive propaganda, nothing they do should be taken as chance. I do not think they should be underestimated. If they are planting the seeds for future terrorist attacks, and suggesting there may be the need for postponing the election, let us not forget the possibility that they may orchestrate such an attack themselves. Having already told the American People such an attack is coming, when it happens as predicted, no one will dare ask unpatriotic questions, until months or years later, long after it is too late. Then the truth of who planned the attack will be swept under the rug, just another conspiracy theory like JFK or 911.

Also, with all of this talk of terrorists and the Democrats helping terrorists with their liberal ways, and on and on, anyone with a bit of common sense might come up with the following logic;

- If the Republicans, and thus George Bush, make better war presidents and we all know George is tough on terror,

- And if the Democrats and thus John Kerry, are soft on war and terror, as their critics like to portray,

- And if there was a terrorist attack before or during the election, it would frighten the American People and like good sheep they would all jump on the patriotic bandwagon and start waving their flags

- And then they would vote for George because they want to feel safe

- So the terrorists are HELPING George win the election

- So, wouldn't a vote for George be a vote for TERROR?

Since Osama's mission is instability and breeding more hatred and recruiting more hate filled members, isn't he winning already and wouldn't he like things to continue as they are? So why aren't the Democrats saying anything like that?

Subject: No Election

Dear Buzz,

I have been saying for months that the repugs won't EVER give up power -- they are too afraid (and rightly so) that they would all end up in jail. Now we hear they are exploring ways to postpone (i.e. "scuttle") the election.

It's time to be afraid........, to be VERY afraid. I have never lived through a time which felt so frightening to our way of life. I'm very seriously thinking of buying an inexpensive place in Mexico so we will have an escape hatch if things go terribly wrong here. At this point, I don't even trust the banks. In any emergency, the banks shut down --- ask the people of Argentina!

Maybe I'm only having a very bad day, but right now I'm feeling really pessimistic -- maybe because Kerry/Edwards are leading in the polls and I know the repugs will never let them win.

Keep up the good work, (I don't intend to give up just yet either),

Subject: American Values vs. Free Speech Zones

Thanks again for your work!

You have covered many stories about people being arrested at Bush events for wearing anti-Bush T-shirts and carrying signs but it has yet to catch on.

But, this would seem to be an ideal "value" issue for Kerry. Freedom of Speech is about as basic (and non-religious) an American value as one can get.

To dramatize this point I can see dozens of young polite Kerry volunteers going to Bush events and getting arrested. I would personally welcome the opportunity .

If you think this issue has any merit I hope you will advance it.

Thanks.

Subject: What about the service records archived in Texas under state law?

Reuters notes that the microfilm in question was kept in Denver:

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N09498668.htm

The records allegedly damaged in 1996-1997 restoration were reportedly moved from St. Louis to Denver in February

http://www.kmov.com/localnews/stories/kmov_localnews_040210_bushrecords.7909d13.html

The New York Times article quotes the Pentagon saying "Searches for backup paper copies of the missing records were unsuccessful." Note that this statement refers only to paper copies and not microfilm files.

Will Bush deliver the Texas library microfilm copy, or has that been "destroyed" too?

http://www.kvue.com/news/local/stories/062204cccakvuebushmicrofilm.28aa79d7b.html

By Texas law a microfilm copy of these records must be found in the Texas archive in Austin. Bush has refused to sign a release of the Texas library records and the White House appears to deny that the Texas records exist. Did it disappear while Bush was Gov?

Subject: Fahrenheit 9/11

To Whom It may Concern:

My name is Dolores Dryden and I live in Harrison, Ohio. On June 25th, after work, (Yes, I am a tax paying citizen of this United States and have been for many, many years), my husband and I went to the movie theater to see Fahrenheit 9/11. What can I say: It was the best. The audience applauded at the end of the film - how cool is that! I can only thank Mr. Moore for doing what comes naturally to him and that is to let the truth be known.

I am so grateful for people the likes of Michael Moore, who have the courage and stamina to make sure that people like me can view the facts of what is going on in a country so special. I am also grateful to the Regal Entertainment Group, for showing this documentary. Although, in spite of the many people coming to watch, the film was dedicated to one screen in the back of the theater. I can only guess they did not anticipate many viewers. Boy, were they wrong.

I cannot wait until the first Tuesday in November.

I already made up my mind as to whom I would vote for, so this documentary did not sway me - I will vote for the Kerry/Edwards ticket. It excites me just to think about getting the criminals out of the White House. God is good. He has given us both Michael Moore and faith in trusting that good will overcome.

My prayers are with the soldiers who have lost their lives in fighting a war based on greed. My prayers are with the soldiers who have lost their limbs, their lives being turned around forever.

My prayers are that we NEVER have another administration the likes of the Bush and Cheney mob. I truly believe that The Truth Shall Set Us Free! The wheel has been set in motion.

Thank you for listening.

Dear BuzzFlash

Your analysis of Ridge studying ways to cancel the election had 3 serious omissions:

It needs links to contact every member of Congress and remind them they have taken an oath to protect our Republic from internal threats as well as external ones.

It needs links to contact every editorial writer in the US.

It needs the phone number of every call in show in the country.

My resources for these are clumsy and dated, but I beg you to please update your analysis per my suggestion. This obvious plan for a coup d'etat is not a fantasy. There should be no other topic in the press until these scumbags back off and back down.

Where the hell are Kerry and Edwards and Clinton and Daschle and Pelosi on this! Talk about values--how about the value of defending America at home?

I know the Repubs polled for that answer. The fact that they are making noises about provisions for postponing elections tells me their proprietary data indicate a terror act would hurt his chances. Ergo, maybe they won't be recreating burning down the Reichstag after all ...

Subject: Is this for real?!?

I am dreaming, right? Are they really talking about postponing the elections??? The US didn't even postpone the elections during WWI or WWII ...

Have the Israelis ever cancelled an election because of a terrorist attack?

Let's see....back when 9/11 happened, Bush says it was important that we continue our daily lives, that we shop, otherwise the terrorists win. Now that we're going to "postpone" elections--the most tell-tale characteristic of a democracy--I guess that means the terrorists win, whether or not they actually attack. The most important thing for our country, according to this administration, is that we live in fear, act out of fear, and I guess fear "fear" itself........

Suspend elections would not change the Constitutionally mandated date of their exit from office.

Vote early and hope they count it....

Subject: "postponing" the election

Hey Buzz

You called it. Doctor Strangelove. I've heard several pundits say that US can't allow the terrorists to ever win in America like they did in the Spanish election.

Why not? Maybe the American people would be furious that the bush cartel allowed an act of terrorism to happen again (after the draconian measures of the Patriot Act, Homeland Security, the wasteful diversionary war in Iraq, and the rest of the "war on terrorism") and wanted to turf them out.

I've always wondered at the elaborate plans to save American government officials in the event of a nuclear attack or other great catastrophe. Do the members on the "save" list really believe they would have any moral authority left to govern? What if there were no one to govern? Do American citizens really believe that the bastards who eventually crawled out of the tunnels would try to reconstitute any kind of democracy?

From what I've read about the Spanish election, the Spanish people were livid that their government lied and tried to blame the train bombings on the Basques instead of telling the truth. The Spanish people were also overwhelmingly against Spain's membership in the "coalition of the willing." The voters' anger was reflected in the results.

Hell, if lying to the electorate was enough to get rid of a government in Spain, what would it take to finally wake up American voters to do the same?

Buzz readers, start screaming blue murder against any talk of postponing or cancelling the November election under any circumstance.

Subject: Postponement or Cancellation of Elections

When I saw what the BushCo machine, with the media in one pocket and the Supreme Court in the other, did in Florida in 2000, I knew then that they were capable of anything. In the weeks following 9-11, more and more alarm bells went off in my head. Before the year was out, I gave a friend even money odds that sometime between then and November '04, we would see an attempt, at the very least, to cancel or "postpone" the elections (I kid you not) due to "national emergency."

My friend thought I was paranoid.

When the first faint rumblings about an invasion of Iraq were heard, he was highly skeptical when I told him that he was in more personal danger from his cat than he was from Saddam Hussein.

It's a bitch being right.

This year, my friend finally started taking me seriously, and wondered where I'd been getting my information. I told him it's all been out in the open for anyone to see, if they're willing to look. I told him about BuzzFlash and dozens of other web publications. I'd told him many times before, but this time his eyes and ears were open. "How have they gotten away with this stuff?" he asked. "Easy; who's been stopping them?" said I.

I'll go on record right now: if the current group of fascists-in-the-making manages to hold onto power, "Martial Law! Coming soon to your city or town."

Obviously, the choir needs no preaching-to. But, fellow choir members, it's up to us to make sure that everyone we know is clued in. There's already a battle going on, and it could well become the most important one our country will ever face. The enemy is right here (and I ain't talkin' about Al Queda).

OK, i said i quit but here's one more blog. It has nothing to do with sex, drugs, rock'n'roll, brittany spears or kobe bryant. (those are things that get people to read blogs i guess). Nope. This is just a letter to Karl Rove.

.Mr Rove,

Congratulations Karl, things are going just swimmingly on the media front. Employing your own journalists and news broadcasters was a flash of brilliance. Keeping sixty six percent of the American public in the dark is no mean feat. Well done

I figured I’d write directly to you Karl (there’s no point having someone read this to little Georgie). It’s time you got a little more credit and appreciation. It must irk you sometimes to have to sit in the background while your little mannequins Bush and Rumsfield mouth your words and get all the attention. But don’t worry Karl there are a bunch of us who know you’re really the one running things, so just hang in there.

Karl, if you can swing that new UN sanction deal then you’ve really proved yourself a champion. If those wimps agree to an American run UN coalition, after you rubbed their “old Europe”noses in their greasy potatoes and bratwurst there’s no telling how far we can go.

I like how you took those ideas from that Milo Mindermender guy in Catch 22 and really put them to use. Hell both sides of every war going on have to buy stuff from our conglomerates. Nice going.

Just a few things Karl:

How are we going to hide all those wounded guys and amputees returning from our wars?

Do you think we could get the big guys ( Haliburton and those other guys) to sponsor their own army divisions?

Maybe this isn’t a good time to call those European guys “chocolate makers”.

How are you going to cancel the next elections?

Subject: Its That Homophobia That's Come Over Ya.

Hi Gang!

I was cleaning out my garage today and I was recalling how the Neo-Conning pundits all are yabbering along about how Kerry and Edwards can't seem to keep from touching each other. Butch Limburger likes to make it a daily topic.

I'm not gay nor do I concern myself with anyone's sexual orientation. Shoot, some of the most fun people I've known are gay.

But what is so funny about my reminiscing was how homophobic the Neo-Conning pundits keep making themselves sound.

That brings me around to the joke of the proposed Constitutional Amendment banning Gay Marriage and the perfect debate ammunition for the Democrats.

"Our society simply is not ready to accept the idea of gay marriages. They are, however, more receptive to the idea of gay unions. What our society is not ready for is the idea that homophobia is being used as a wedge to divide and create an atmosphere of discrimination.

If this amendment is allowed to pass...and it won't...who is to say that some individuals won't pass laws, under some court's interpretation of the proposed amendment, to attempt to ban homosexuality?

The issue of legally recognized gay unions is just another step in the long history of civil rights in our country. Child labor laws, emancipation of the slaves, women's suffrage, civil rights laws - passed in the face of certain political backlash - giving african-americans full rights as citizens, and anti-discrimination laws, regardless of race, color, physical disability, age, sexual orientation and religion were all steps in civil rights.

If this amendment passes...and it won't...it will lead us backwards down the road to the past - a past that some still wish to return to.

The Constitution should only be amended when such circumstances arise when, to borrow a line, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. It was never meant to be amended when the fears of the few outweigh the needs of the many.

Our nation would be better served in ceasing this foolish endeavor to pass moral judgment on a portion of our society that requires more of our understanding and acceptance rather than be greeted with such a hostile act."

Subject: Bush Moving to Steal Election Again

The Bush administration is moving to steal the election again by postponing the election in case of an attack around election day. If this passes and Bush is behind in the polls - there will be an attack to delay the election.

A president who is crooked enough to go to war with Iraq based on lies is crooked enough to fake a terrorist attack to usurp the election process. Bush has already stolen one election when he got the Supreme Court to halt the vote count and appoint him president. This time the people should choose our own president.

Keeping us safe from terrorism is a test of the presidency and if Bush can't figure out how to keep America safe then he doesn't deserve to be president. The Constitution is clear on the subject and it doesn't provide an exception to move the election if Bush decides to create a fake attack. We need to resist tempering with the election process and prevent Bush from stealing the election again. Bush can not be trusted with any process to delay the election for any reason. And we sure don't need to give Bush a reason to blow up buildings if he's behind in the polls.

Subject: postponing the election -not even during cold war

Dear BuzzFlash,

The Bush Administration's rationale for New York State's postponement of the 2001 Democratic Primary on September 11th is not a precedent for a national federal election cancellation, especially called by the Executive Branch. Terrorism, even simultaneous multi-state atomic attacks, do not need to cause a national election suspension due to a state of emergency.

This is partly why the USA is made up of states. We have diversity and different conditions from state to state. Al Qu'aida or Timothy McVeigh's Militias does not pose such a threat.

Interestingly, during decades of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) policy during the Cold War, I don't recall hearing about National Election State of Emergency Postponement. During that period hundreds of nuclear missiles were trained on the US with overkill capability.

Last month, I wrote in my blog about how a skunkworks counter-counter-terrorism special operation could provide enough of a smokescreen to get the elections and the constitution suspended indefinitely with some vague justifications and the momentum of daily routines combined with fear of a Depression or unemployment without an effective safety net.

Thanks for keeping your eye on this.
