Subject: The Bush War

Dear Buzz,

I have a suggestion. There are a lot of us who never believed George Bush had adequate justification for invading Iraq.  Why don't we  identify it by the proper name: "The Bush War." From now on when we talk about Iraq call the war what it is.

Subject: Clinton's book

If the New York Times thinks Clinton's book is not up to scratch, then do not let Bush "W" write about his time as president. God help us all if he does get a book offer. It is bad enough trying to figure out what the hell he is talking about every time he speaks. Having to decipher his ravings in written form would be far too much for us all to cope with.

Can you imagine it?  The opening paragraph would begin with: "Them bad Arab Peoples, they tried to kill us good Americans, I told em all, I gunna get you and kill you dead to make you free."

Subject: Attack on Michael Moore-Fahrenheit 9/11

Yesterday (6/21/04), I read a BuzzFlash Mailbag letter from Claire telling about writing a letter to the Little Theatre Group and thanking them for showing Fahrenheit 9/11 and their gracious response to her by quoting the First Amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Claire listed a web site -- http://www.moveamericaforward.org/MichaelMoore/ --
and noted: "This is an anti-Moore Web site, but it lists all the theaters who intend to show the movie."

I went to that web site and was astounded at the angry, vicious attack on Michael Moore and the movie Fahrenheit 9/11. The "STOP MICHAEL MOORE" movement is urging everyone to write the listed Theater Groups that will be showing Fahrenheit 9/11 and demanding that they NOT show the movie. THIS IS CENSORSHIP.

I hope other BuzzFlash readers will join me in writing these Theater Groups, congratulating them on taking a stand for freedom of speech.

Subject: numbers

According to the Washington Post and Pew research polls this morning.....Dubya's numbers are down....all of them.... Handling Iraq...the economy....etc.  Just last week he had a small upward trend after Reagan's funeral.

But, alas, down he goes again!!  After Ron Reagan goes on with C. Matthews Wed. night (C. Mathews is not my favorite person), I look for them to go further down.

Unless Cheney and Bush can get to him and threaten his very life, he will say things that, while not really nasty, could be not so complimentary.

Subject: Cheney the serial liar

Dear BuzzFlash:

Has Dick Cheney ever met a lie he wouldn't tell?

This man has no scruples whatsoever. He's now blaming the press for interpreting his inferences that Saddam and Al Qaeda were collaborating against the United States as Saddam was working with Al Qaeda.

He's now asserting that he knows things that the 911 Commission doesn't know. What the hell does that mean? Doesn't everyone know things that the 911 Commission doesn't know?

Dick Cheney was the front man from the get-go for the Bush administration's deception over Iraq, WMD and the Saddam, Al Qaeda connection.

Who believes this man anymore? Next he'll be telling us that the Big Bad Wolf was in cahoots with the three little pigs to smuggle yellow cake out of Nigeria, that Red Riding Hood and Osama are surrounded in the hills at Tora Bora and that the WMD have been found in the shoe where the old woman and her kids live.

November 2, 2004, is ELECTION DAY. BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Subject: Pathetic critique of Michael Moore: more NYT shame!

Philip Shenon writes:
Mr. Moore may also have to defend his portrayal of Mr. Bush's presidency as sinking prior to Sept. 11...  Mr. Moore said that his review of news coverage before Sept. 11 shows that, with or without the tax cut, the Bush presidency was floundering before the terrorist attacks. Mr. Moore said, "I've read what other people wrote and said at the time, and he was definitely on the ropes."

Well, to stoop to the level of discourse your paper deserves: DUH. Shame on Philip Shenon and the NYTimes. It seems your paper has not learned the lessons of its promoting false pretenses for the preemptive war on Iraq. Not satisfied with misleading the public then, you are continuing to grasp at straws with the thin arguments Shenon manages to scrape together against Michael Moore.

Hello? Some of us were alert in those days and retain our memory because we don't submit our brains for washing by the mass media, including the NYTimes. Bush WAS on the ropes. We remember. Anyone with access to the Time Magazine and Newsweek covers that week can verify. Check it out. Was Shenon too feeble to do so? Has he heard of those magazines? Does he think the minds of the entire populace have been cleared? What's your excuse THIS time? Your paper is a thorough disgrace.

Subject: Jack Ryan's romantic getaways

Dear Buzz,

One just must appreciate and marvel at the poor reality-testing skills of this man. Ryan's getaways are to romantic as conservatism is to compassionate.

One does not have to strain too hard to know that these activities fit well with the personality type of the man -- an egocentric control freak who has little, if any, respect and empathy for others. His stunt with stalking Barack Obama with a hired cameraman is another good example of his character. But then just looking at Ryan and hearing him speak gives the more sensitive among us serious heebee-jeebees -- for good reason.

The guy is a creep, not to use too fine a label. Which makes him well qualified to represent GOP and their famous family values. Not only he lies about his activities and tries to hide his serious character flaws, but he shamelessly uses his son as an excuse for doing so. He needs to grow up before he seeks public office (but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting). You're right, he is toast. Can't wait to see Obama in office.

Subject: "Calling All Nasties"

Hi Buzz,

Yo, Clinton's book is coming out!

Remember how "Nasty" the gop crowd was looking high and low (especially low) for evidence of misdoings? Anything, anything to impeach. The relentless crowd is not gone away. They just tucked away for a while and took to counting their oil and loot profits. But Clinton's book is smoking them out, and the Grover bunch is itching to do a replay. They so badly need a national distraction, any crumb, any crummy tidbit to rev up the national ire against the perceived liberal enemy and take up the page one columns. Heck, all the gwb mob lies and deceptions can continue to be swept aside or hidden in small blurbs on the inner pages, because no true real American cares about lies that destroy and kill. True real Americans just want to follow behind the mob, cheer for the 'war' and they are only satisfied if gwb "has a good time."

Oh, and Fahrenheit 911 is coming out! Call out the crazies too! Rejoice media, the crazies and the nasties are hitting the streets and they will put the liberals in their place! The media will have its choice of corporate friendly lies to hit the headlines for days and weeks to come.  Remember to pray for gwb and you too can watch and be a part of his wealth building initiatives for the few and maybe you will be allowed to participate in the Great Armageddon to come.

Best,
Cole...

Subject: O'Reilly the Disrespectful or the Disreputable . . .

BuzzFlash,

O'Reilly, as usual, spouting his ignorance with his disrespect for Iraqis. The truth is, he disrespects Americans. He disrespects his own audience. His tyrannical outbursts of arrogant, asinine idiocies are insulting to any intelligent person. I sometimes wonder if people watch O'Reilly for some odd type of entertainment . . . or maybe just curiosity . . . certainly not for factual information or for his opinions . . . he really should get out more!! Walk in an Iraqi's shoes!! Then tell America what you think.

We attack and kill families in Iraq and for those who are injured, we see to it that they have no medicine or care. We don't want to know how many people we have killed in Iraq . . . shock and awe or hit and run . . . what is the difference? We have bombed their water, electricity, media, and food supply, pilfered their libraries, records and treasures . . . O'Reilly, with all due disrespect, I think the Iraqi people know what the Bush administration thinks of them. To tell the American people that this culture of intelligent people are "prehistoric," is a remark that I would expect from a Neanderthal. I understand why the Fox News is a Bush Administration favorite. What is it that they say about "like minds" . . . "They walk the same swaggering walk and talk the same swill-full talk."

If this country (US) has so many human resources . . . how does that explain O'Reilly in his position, if not to lie, create prejudices through disinformation for the GOP . . . spreading hate, paranoia and fear? Such an honorable job. O'Reilly should brush up on other skills . . . most Americans will eventually catch on to this dysfunctional game show channel known as the GOP Faux TV . . .

Just a thought . . .

Thanks BuzzFlash,

Shirley Smith

Subject: Re article on Is NC Winnable? Bush lead slips from past (newsobserver.com)

Dear BuzzFlash:

NC is definitely winnable for Kerry.

Textiles and furniture industries (core of good manufacturing jobs in NC) have tanked. (That's why suddenly Bush is talking about tariffs on Chinese furniture imports.)

The largest single voting blocks in NC are the retired military and the active military. While CA may have greater numbers, they are far less in terms of a voting percentage. If Kerry put a task force of retired military stars together and campaigned in NC, he can win, regardless of Edwards.

Subject: Possible Billions Wasted

Hey Buzz,

In the Palm Beach Post article, Possible Billions Wasted in Iraq, I noticed the following:

Also Tuesday, Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff was told in 2002
that Cheney's former company Halliburton would receive no-bid work to secretly plan restoration of Iraq's oil facilities, but the information wasn't given to the vice president, a White House official said.

Wait a minute. 2002? A secret plan to restore Iraqi oil facilities? I thought the administration's decision to go to war to steal Iraq's oil wasn't made until 2003, after the UN votes and the inspection "failures." Could it be that they were lying?

Subject: JESUS GOD! DID YOU SEE IT?!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus God!!! Did anyone catch it? Hardball, Tuesday night, Pat Robertson said  before Bush went to war in Iraq he told Bush in a private meeting that he should warn the American people of the casualties we will endure. He said Bush just said, and I qhote, "That's something we don't need to worry about, our troops are too well protected." Christ almighty! We have a mad man running our country! What? Did he think since God told him to go to war that God would protect them? Jesus God! We have a nut case at the helm! If Bush says he did not say that, then he is calling Robertson a liar, and if he did say it, than he is a grave danger to our country and the world!!

Subject: A Timely Quote

Does the government fear us? Or do we fear the government? When the people fear the government, tyranny has found victory. The federal government is our servant, not our master!

It's time for our present government to fear us!

Subject: Jack Ryan

It's not the fact that he has an unconventional concept of marriage and the marital bed that's the problem. Go for it if you both enjoy that kind of thing. It IS the fact the she said "no thanks." She said it again. She said it again with tears in her eyes. She said it one more time, then filed the papers. Stupid, mean man.

The fact that he doesn't get that, and didn't think his backers, the Family Values Sex Police Alliance, might need to know, this speaks volumes. What a self-serving, logic-impaired, delusional twit.

Subject: War on Terror: Are We Winning?

The report which Repubs claimed showed we were winning the war on terrorism has just been adjusted to show just the opposite -- that 208 terrorist attacks killed 625 people last year, more than twice the number previously reported. In addition the AOL polls indicate 63% think we are losing the war against terrorism, and 62% believe the war against Iraq was wrong. The war against Iraq will likely cause the war against terrorism to be lost.

AOL News - War on Terror: Are we Winning?
The Terror Factor
A new report shows 625 people were killed by terrorism in 2003 -- a sharp increase over the number first reported by the State Department. Meanwhile, a new poll shows a drop in the percentage of Americans that approve of President Bush's handling of the war on terror.

U.S. Adjusts Report, Shows Rise in Terrorism
By BARRY SCHWEID, AP

WASHINGTON (June 22) - Significant acts of terror worldwide reached a 21-year high in 2003, the State Department announced Tuesday as it corrected a mistaken report that had been cited to boost President Bush's war on terror.

Incidents of terrorism increased slightly during the year, and the number of people wounded rose dramatically, the department said.

J. Cofer Black, who heads the department's counterterrorism office, said the report, even as revised, showed ''we have made significant progress'' in the campaign against international terror.

The corrected report shows that the Bush administration is ''playing fast and loose with the truth when it comes to the war on terror,'' said Phil Singer, spokesman for Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign. The administration ''has now been caught trying to inflate its success on terrorism,'' he said.

Combining the two categories of terror attacks - those with loss of life or serious injury and major property damage and less serious attacks - Black said the overall number of terror incidents was at a 34-year low.

Still, there were 175 ''significant events'' of terror last year, he said, the highest number since 1982.

Subject: rightwingnut radio

On my way home from errands today, I had the local "Rush Limbaugh" on the radio...he is a newsman here...and while I have never really liked him, I never really hated him, either. But, today, he had the question on about how we are not held to the Geneva Conventions rules for prisoners.

Okay, every person who called was a rightwinger and I was literally sick to my stomach
when I got out of the car. Their responses ran from, "Why are we even having this conversation....these people are animals, they deserve what they get," to one idiot's answer to the question was, "I do not care if we saw both legs off, if it saves one American soldier's life"!

Now, in the first place, that is not humane, it is not American...and it certainly is not correct. In the first place, we invaded their country...and likely killed or maimed at least 10,000 innocent Iraqis in the process. Every person who called was like that, except one and he was talked down!

How in the world do intelligent people in this country get away with this drivel on the radio...I expect it with Rush Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Hannity...but, this is local, and as soon as I get this letter off to you...I intend to send a letter to Larry Conners, at KMOV-TV and radio...and maybe all of you should, too!

Thanks for letting me rant, once again......
