Subject: 'Perspective' Wolf Blitzer, How many times will we hear that Nick Berg's murder will put Abu Ghraib torture (and murder) 'in perspective'? Every pundit, every GOP spokesperson on every news channel has propagated the phrase this morning. According to the Red Cross, 70-90 percent of the prisoners in Abu Ghraib are guilty of no crime. THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MURDER OF NICK BERG! This is not perspective. It is White House smoke and mirrors. From Bush's anus to our 'press corps' lips, I guess... Chuck Van Wey
Subject: "Why Media Stood Silent When Torture Cases First Came To Light" Dear Sirs, I have just read Mr. Schechter's...opinion, which is posted at www.commondreams.org [link above]. I agree with Mr. Schechter's view that the mainstream media has for too long, been timid in getting factual information to the American public. Journalists, news commentators, editors of newspapers and reporters must, as individuals, find the courage to accurately inform the public, or risk losing further credibility until no one anywhere will believe that they are not all supporting the government's agenda. My hope is that there are more who will find their sense of responsibility and ensure that accurate and complete information gets to us, and let us decide what, and whom, we want to believe. And with that information we will, as adults who are well-informed, make up our own minds about who is the best candidate for public office. Isn't that our right and responsibility in this democratic republic? Respectfully,
Subject: Inhofe, Limbaugh & Hannity et al Good ole boys Inhofe, Limbaugh & Hannity want us all to get over this outrage over the prison photos. If that's the case I say release the rest of the photos and let us all have a hearty belly laugh over 'em. I mean after all, we know them thar eye rak keys are all just a bunch a terrorists at worst or ungrateful liberatees who just don't can't appreciate that we have to burn the village to save it. So release ALL the photos and videos I say. look at the murder & rapin' hijinks of 6 people and after we wipe the tears from our eyes go back to the things that matter. Voting the next million dollar winner of Survivor. Because if anybody has it rough and deserves a million bucks for their pain & sufferin from us good ole Mericuns it's a Survivor contestant. Prisoners at Abu Ghraib have NOTHING on them. That's for sure. So reparations be damned. They should be happy when we round them up and dump them outside of town. Good thing honor and shame will cause the majority of them to never admit what happened and once we confiscate all damning evidence, seize troop computers and ban digital cameras, good ole Mericun sheeple never have to get outraged ever again. And after all is said and done all don our white robes and hoods, never mind I'm black and a woman, I'm a loyal Mericun I know my history. And have a nice bonfire of those pesky pictures to the tune of a cross. After all them eye rak keys don't believe in our gawd and won't appreciate the warm glow a good ole cross burnin can bring. Subject: CNN experts claim voice on Berg's beheading video is NOT Al-Zarqawi's Dear Buzz, Yesterday while watching "CNN Headline News," the reporter announced after showing pictures of the Berg beheading video: "CNN experts familiar with the voice of Al-Zarqawi say the voice on the video was not his". Interesting. Especially after considering there is a strong possibility that Al-Zarqawi may be a character made up to justify Bush's lies about the Saddam, Al-Qaeda connection. Creepy Nancy Lynn Nagy
Subject: Two Questions Dear Buzz, Omigod: Is Karl Rove's losing Thomas Friedman the same as Lyndon Johnson's losing Walter Cronkite? (Reference: Dancing Alone). Also: if Monica's blue dress deserved a special counsel, doesn't the weird tangle of Bush administration lies and fog surrounding the death of Nicholas Berg deserve one as well? Jon Krampner

Subject: Berg's death There are so many suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr. Berg's murder. How did he go from U.S. hands to the terrorists? And since there are few Iraqi police, how could they have been holding him? It is fair to ask if this wasn't staged by pro-American Iraqis to draw attention from the detainee abuse scandal. Making it look like the job was done by "crazed terrorists" could have been easily faked. Even the timing, the first day of hearings, is suspicious. It was cited immediately by Republicans to prove how much worse the "enemy" is than us: therefore implying the abuse was justified. Rob Johnson
Good day all, Well, I guess Karl Rove has now learned what other uses there are for cameras. No Karl, cameras don't only exist to provide you with opportunities to attempt to make the idiot-in-chief look good. You must be slipping Rove - didn't you know anyone can have a camera? On a happier note, I got to see my hero (WJ Clinton) in person Tuesday night through the generosity of my cousin, who had tickets to the Voices for Working Families/MoveOn event at the Apollo Theatre in NY. She and her husband could not go at the last minute, and gave them to me! (The only way I could afford to get into one of these things is if someone else pays!) It was a pretty star-studded show, and you could tell he really didn't want to upstage anyone and didn't want to make the night about him. So he didn't speak for very long. It really left me wanting more. How great it was to hear the brilliance of his speaking (of course, without notes), his sense of humor, compassion, intelligence. And speaking of brilliance, he actually does light up a room! It made me miss him so much. This was quite a thrill for me. This guy is so loved. He's a rock star! Screw the Clinton-haters. It's so obvious why his enemies despise him. Because they've got nothing comparable. No matter where he goes, he's flocked by thousands of people, gets 10- minute standing ovations, people reach out to touch him like he's a god. It just kills the repugs that this man is revered so much. They tried so hard to destroy him, but I think they did the opposite. He's adored and respected all over this world - not to mention filthy rich (also thanks to the repugs). It's interesting to hear him speak now that he's not in office or running for office. He's much more light and funny, as if a big weight has been lifted from his shoulders (well, in fact, it has been). He's quite a stand-up comedian also. He just tosses out those one-liners. He's got a wit so sharp he could slice GWB in half with one word. Gee, do ya think GWB will get paid $100,000 per speech when he's out of office? (Hopefully, in 2005.) Anyway, the importance of BuzzFlash grows stronger every day. I don't know how many of you there are at Buzz, but it's mind boggling that you can put together this much information on a daily basis. Thanks for keeping us from being lobotomized by the mainstream media. We've got to keep hope alive. Hell, even Hastert is pissed off at Bush! I'm willing to bet that there are republican senators and reps that will vote for Kerry. I think even they can't take it anymore. Barbara in NYC
Subject: Chickenhawk Karl's nose Buzz et al., I thought that surely the Washington Post misunderstood something when they wrote in an article on Karl Rove: "President Bush's chief political adviser told graduates of Jerry Falwell's Liberty University on Saturday to judge leaders on the basis of character." After reading that lead-off line I was expecting a revelation that the WP was simply getting an early jump on April Fools, 2005, or at least a "just kiddin" at the end of the article. But then I realized who they were reporting on. You just have to shake your head at the gall. And just as surely, the stunning and sobering irony of that admonishment by Karl was completely lost on the idiots who voted for the Bush/ Cheney ticket in 2000, the Fab Five on the Supreme Court, who foisted this bunch of lying hypocrites and their horrible policies, deeds and actions on the entire world, and those with negative I.Q.s who can still support this lying, conniving, arrogant, and amoral assemblage at the White House. I can see the eager faces in Karl's audience as the coming American Christian Extremist Theocracy was contemplated. But I say good for the little Catholic girl down the street who pounded the blood out of Karl's nose for having a Nixon bumper sticker on his bike!! You have to wonder, would anyone with more than two neurons ever have had a Nixon bumper sticker in the first place, or, more laughable, actually admit these days to having had one? It's hilarious that he would relate this episode to anyone, much less to a large audience. And with reporters present to boot, taking notes, no less. People refer to this guy as a genius? Obviously he learned nothing from Justice Scalia. My guess is that the young lady down the street from little Karl was just "blowing off some steam during a stressful situation." Perhaps her whupping up on Karl's nose is the underlying reason for his avoiding Viet Nam. Up close and personal violence really is hell, isn't it, Karl ? Just as well. Who can imagine being in a foxhole with this chickenhawk anyway ? Or with any of the rest of them for that matter (http://www.angelfire.com/ok5/pe...). On my very best days I am an Agnostic. Maybe this is a good day because all I can think about, considering the past 3.5 years, and especially the horrible, horrible revelations of the past few months, is: God Help America. In fact, thanks to the Bush/ Cheney Junta, God Help This Entire Poor, Sad Planet. As the signs in so many yards suggest, don't quit blessing America, of course, God, but, PLEASE HELP US!!!!!! Moreover, God, while I'm at it, though we have all now been assured that You have been talking to GW about what to do (though obviously not how to go about it), many of us are beginning to have a few second thoughts on how our Commander in Chief may have interpreted Your conversations with him. Perhaps You could inform him in the future encounters, along with some guidance, instructions and suggestions on how to be a human being, that "the buck stops" with him, not with You, or with anyone else, because, I've got to inform You, God, that since George has attributed his actions to his guidance from You that this is tantamount to passing the buck right to You. A BuzzFlash Reader in South Dakota P.S. Sorry, just one more request, God. It's a small one. Could You, if necessary, rig the next election to somehow offset the immeasurably evil practical joke played on us and the rest of the world by the Fab Five in the last election? I know they are still slapping their knees over that one. I apologize for straying so far from Karl's nose. PLEASE HELP US!!!!
Subject: Santorum article Hi, My local newspaper printed an AP clip two days ago about Rick Santorum giving a commencement address at Cheyney State University in Pennsylvania, wherein half the graduates turned their backs on him, and there was some booing as well. I should not ever be surprised by what Senator James Inhofe says, but I am every time he opens his mouth. His statements in the last week concerning the Iraq prisoner abuse scandal have been outrageous and shameful. Brent Wilcox
Subject: How deep is the slime in Bush Hi Buzz, I think the timing of the tragic beheading of that young man is very curious. How did the man get detained by U.S. authorities? Why was he detained? How did he end up getting kidnapped and beheaded? Why did that happen just after the exposure of our military intelligence abusing, raping, and killing inmates (90% of whom were innocent)? Is that just a Bush campaign ploy to let this guy get captured so that the news media would take the focus off of the prison abuse in Iraq? It seems like he let 911 happen (which Rumsfeld referred to as a blessing in disguise)? A BuzzFlash reader
Subject: AWOL / Beheaders / Congress I thought whoever wrote the piece on Bush being AWOL on so many things was right on. It made me think of an acronym for AWOL......America WithOut Leadership. Is there any way that someone can verify the people in the video of the beheading are actually the people they say they are? If these terrorists are smart enough to down the WTCs then they probably aren't dumb enough to do this video without thinking ahead to what the ramifications would be, how detrimental it could be for Americans against this charade of a war. The Congress was in dereliction of their duties when they allowed Bush to invade Iraq. Is there any recourse like impeachment with Congresspersons who screw up, and in this instance isn't the screw up almost criminal? Maybe we bring that to the sleeping public's attention. Somebody write articles for impeachment or whatever against the congresspersons who slept on duty. ACWC
Subject: Re: Nick Berg I thought I was seeing things. Those "terrorists" standing behind Nick Berg. The body language was so...American. I lived overseas while in the military, you could tell an American a mile away by their body language. These guys behind Nick Berg look American. Too big, too heavy. They stand like American military, ex-football player types. So, I watched the video. I am so sorry for the family of Mr. Berg. But I will say this: having watched the video, I believe that Mr. Berg was already dead when this atrocity was committed. There is a lot of cutting in and out but at the end, right before it is done, he sits with no discernable movement, even when his head is viciously grabbed and he is pushed to the floor, his face shows no change of expression, no pain, no flinch, no surprise. The camera goes badly out of focus through the beginning of the actual act, but, from what I could see, there was a complete lack of any reflexive body movement at all. Minimal blood. All the "terrorists" are grabbing at him and he's not moving at all. I respectfully suggest that the Berg family have an independent medical expert view the video. They may derive some comfort from knowing that Nick Berg was already gone before this was done, if I am correct. This smells so bad. The fact is that Berg's name was on a freeper website "enemies" list that hard-core right-wingers use to put out to government agencies to destroy people. Keep in mind that the CPA office in Iraq is staffed with hardcore GOP operatives like Dan Senor and Jim Wilkenson - who just happens to be one of the GOP staffers sent to the Miami Elections Office to disrupt the counting of the votes in 2000. Then he showed up in Kuwait; he was there for the Jessica Lynch propaganda extravaganza. Now he's in Iraq, disseminating more propaganda from the CPA offices. What qualifies these people to represent us at this office in Iraq? Was the Berg name flagged when he was picked up at Mosul? Why was he held for weeks and questioned? The FBI (what the hell are they doing in Iraq? FBI is Federal, not extranational) questioned him three times. Again, for what? Why was he held and questioned? The fact is that the government has lied about Nick Berg being held by the U.S. They claim he was held by Iraqi police. Yet the Berg family has emails from a U.S. consul, stating that he was being detained by the U.S. Why? As soon as the family sued the DoD and Rumsfeld for his release, Nick Berg was let go. And turned up conveniently and graphically dead, just in time to save the Bush butt again. And this time, the Bushies needed something really gruesome to deflect form the growing scandal in the prisons in Iraq AND Afghanistan AND Guantanamo AND Diego Garcia. And who is crying the loudest for the martyrdom of Nick Berg? The freepers. Oddly enough, the Bush Administration has claimed that Nick Berg was killed by an Al Qaeda man who was reported dead back in March (note the date http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4446084/ ). I guess the man can't disavow the act, if he's DEAD. The Bush Administration has a history of destroying people to cover their butts or achieve something they want: Remember the anthrax scare? Anthrax delivered to the offices of Democrats - just when they were studying the Patriot Act. After the Anthrax was cleared from their offices, virtually every Congressperson voted for the Patriot Act. The only person ever brought in for this crime was America's preeminent expert on MOBILE BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS LABS. A man who could discredit the Bush Administration lies about Saddam's so-called weapons labs. He was later released and charges were never pressed. But his career was trashed. And people died. Whatever happened to the Anthrax investigation? Nobody has been caught, or charged. People died, Congress was threatened, where's the investigation? Remember the Muslim chaplain in Guantanamo arrested for spying? They said he was taking Secret, Classified, stuff out of the camp. If I remember correctly, that was right around the time that the heat was on Cheney for something. All of a sudden we were all paying attention to the chaplain. All of the charges against him were eventually dropped too, except for adultery and watching porn. His career was trashed too. Remember Joe Wilson's wife? Another career trashed, to cover up for Bush's lies, but beyond that, this was a woman with a lifetime career and contacts devoted to TRACKING WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. What weapons have we lost track of because of this? How many lives overseas were endangered by this? But the heat was deflected from Bush. And that was the intent. I could go on with the list, but do it yourself. Every time Bush starts to get hit, someone else is sacrificed as a distraction. Anyone who thinks that Al Qaeda are the only animals out there, isn't paying attention. Ruth L.
Subject: ARE THESE WAR CRIMINALS GOING AFTER SYRIA OR CUBA NEXT? Dear BuzzFlash, Don't you think that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, Wolfowitz, and the rest of this administration, are beginning to look very much like WAR CRIMINALS? Now the Human Rights organization is claiming that prisoner abuses were reported in Afghanistan too. The way they lied to the nation and dragged it into this senseless war, the way they covered up about false intelligence, and the way they disregarded these terrible prisoner abuses seem to point to this conclusion. The question is will Bush for once in his life, acknowledge the fact that he has failed miserably, and take the responsibility for the awful mess he and his administration have made in Iraq? Chances are, he will not, and will just shrug his shoulders and be in total denial, and "stay the course," even though it is the wrong course, and will try to maintain his steadfast bullheaded image for the rest of his term. The recent sanctions made against Syria, and the recent rhetoric by the Bush administration against Cuba, makes me think that this is the groundwork laid by these war criminals, to attack one of these countries, if by some chance (God forbid!) Bush is elected (please note, I did not say re-elected) this November. FRIENDS, WE SHOULD ALL BE TERRIFIED! A BuzzFlash Reader
Subject: Strange Americans BuzzFlash, Strange Americans... A President gets a little oral sex in the oval office, lies to his wife, the press, and everyone else, and gets impeached. Who did he really hurt? As I see it, no one but his wife. A president lies about why he is going to war. He claims it is because of weapons of mass destruction, then claims it is to promote regime change. Then he claims that Iraq is in league with Al Qaeda. Then, on top of that, he claims it is to promote democracy and to free the Iraqi people from the despotic Saddam. All of these so-called reasons for war have proven to be grotesques lies which have caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, a great many who were civilian, and the death of 700 plus American soldiers (to date). This president also continues to lie about his National Guard record, has the American economy in a deficit that some economists say will take 20 to 30 years to come out of, and if it continues, could cause a depression greater than that of the 30's, and has the value of the dollar on the International monetary market worth 30% less than it was 3-plus years ago. Today food prices, gas prices and health costs are sky-rocketing, and nearly every nation except Great Britain is looking at us with amazed wonderment and contempt and scratching their heads. But, through it all this president is still looked at by many Americans as a GOOD OLE' BOY! Yep! Some American people are a strange bunch. Strange did I say? Maybe the word should be stupid. Strong word! Yet, many Americans looked upon the German people of the 1930's and 40's as stupid and naive for allowing Hitler to blind them with his lies that led up to WWII. Well now I ask the following question. Where is Bush leading us? As I see it we are rocketing down the road to perdition and gaining speed every day. If America ever needed God's blessings we certainly need it now. Wynn Spell
Subject: Rumsfeld truly is a mad man! Dear Buzz, Yesterday in a PR interview with Rummy during his visit to Baghdad he brazenly stated that the Geneva Conventions were open to interpretation. Many nations can interpret it differently, he said. What gave them the courage, one wonders? The greatest surprise are the (ever-so-gentle) criticisms coming from Billy "The Creep" Kristol and his pal, Bob Kagan, the Neo-Con Duo Supreme: http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public... Hm. What does Colson blame Watergate on, "Spy vs Spy" from Mad Magazine? We can blame Iran/Contra on "Let's Make a Deal"? What a crock! Let's never lay the blame where it belongs, on the Patriot Act and an arrogant administration that thinks they are above international law. What do we blame all the Bush cover-ups on, "The Liars Club"? Mary O'Reilly, St. Louis, Missouri Subject: More Pissed Off Than Pissed-Off Patricia Dear Loyal BuzzFlash Readers: 'Tis me, your proud, Angry and yes, pissed off Christian Liberal, again. What, a Christian can't get more pissed off than Pissed-Off Patricia (another loyal BuzzFlash Reader)? Think again. Here's some of the things this Christian is royally "pissed-off" with (including anyone who wants to call me on using the term "Pissed-off" because I'm a Christian). First of all, I try to be an honest Christian and say what I truly mean, so sometimes saying it nicely loses the meaning, and only a word or phrase like "pissed-off" will do. So, while the Lord deals with me on my word usage, I want to deal with the things coming out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue that are pissing me off. I'm pissed off at/with: GeeDubya with his "in your face" hypocrisy, the praising of Donald Rumsfeld in the midst of the torture of Iraqi prisoners, and how his handler, Karl Rove, manages to "conveniently" float rumors, innuendo, flat out lies, or take positions on issues that are meant to distract the American people from continuing to call him on his stuff (the protests against gay marriage are starting to fire up again) and how he smirks at the American people like we're a bunch of nincompoops like he is! When will the rest of America wake up and tell him he's going back to his make believe ranch in November? Donald Rumsfeld - for admitting he's incompetent, then telling us, as well as the troops in Iraq (in their face, no less) that he's not going to resign, no matter what people say. I don't know about you, but I don't like getting pissed on and being told that it's raining. The convenient focus on the decapitation of Nick Berg by the Administration. Now the White House wants to use the murder of this young man as a means to whip up anti-Iraqi sentiment, while at the same time, trash this young man to his family by stating it was his own fault that he was in Iraq in the first place and it was his own fault that he didn't leave Iraq when he was advised. This smells worse than a rotting corpse, and while GeeDubya wants to denounce this, he's not above using it to further and advance his own ends. And they only started to trash Mr. Berg after his father called out Bush in the Media. Aren't you tired of a wimp, a bully and coward running this country? This is being pissed off to the highest. The lack of accountability in this Administration. Yeah, but we sure as hell wanted Bill Clinton to be accountable for that DNA he left on a blue dress, only that didn't lead to the war that this country didn't need and the alienation of all global support we had after 9/11. I am also pissed off at the muted silence coming from Congress, save for Senators Ted Kennedy and Carl Levin, Reps. Jim McDermott, Jay Inslee, most of the Congressional Black and Latino Caucuses (DLC members are excluded 'cause they are toting this Administrations' water). Where's the outrage now?! Where's the calls for impeachment?! I'm not looking for them to come from the likes of Rick Sanatorium, Orrin Hatch, and especially James Inhofe, who showed his horses' patoot on Tuesday. Likewise, Rush Limpbaull, Sean Hannity and Dennis Miller have also showed their horses' patoots collectively with their comments of likening the torture of Iraqi prisoners to "blowing off steam", "frat pranks" etc. Yo, Dennis, Sean and Rush - ever had a broomstick stuck up your anus as a "fraternity" prank while you were in college? If you had, you would have had more sympathy for Abner Louima, as well as the Iraqi prisoners. Your attempts to collectively drink cans of "kiss a--" with this Administration instead of breaking out the cans of "whip a--" are truly nauseating. Even Bill O'Lielly knew when to get off this band wagon, so why haven't you brilliant morons figured it out?!! The attempts to trivialize the most profound horror (torture of Iraqi prisoners), while maximizing the most insignificant (gay marriage). Only the RepubliSCAMS have managed to get this down to a fine art. They have had control of the government for 10 years, and this current mess is what they have to show for it! Do they get pink slips in November or do we give tacit approval by allowing them to get re-elected? The women in this Administration who would not have the advantages they currently enjoy were it not for liberals like us fighting for their equal rights (Condasleezza Rice, Karen "Ten Minutes from Normal Amazon" Hughes, Laura "Stepford Wife" Bush, Lynne "Equally as Dangerous as Dick" Cheney, Elaine "Nuke Labor Rights" Chao, and others. What, do they think they actually got where they are on their MERITS?!!! I don't know what to be more pissed off at them for: the fact that they are women being used by the Bush Administration to co-sign this mess, or the fact that they themselves would not be amiss at being thankful for the right to choose, and equality. It's more of them getting in the door and slamming that same door in the face of the rest of us. Feel free to pile on to this list, fellow BuzzFlash Readers. This is one day that I just might be more pissed off than my fellow BuzzFlash reader, Patricia. I want to thank Patricia for keeping me fired up, and the rest of the BuzzFlash readers for encouragement and letting me know I'm not alone in my "pissed-offness". My name is Leutisha
