"President Bush Honors Top Teacher"

In honoring the nation's top teachers on Wednesday, President Bush [news - web sites] was reminded of how he once disrupted his fourth-grade music class by drawing sideburns on his face and mimicking Elvis.

Subject: Famous First Words [Paul Wolfowitz quotes]

The notion that the invasion of Iraq has been on my agenda since 1991 is simply wrong.-- Paul Wolfowitz, to Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy, hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee on the U.S. military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, 2004

[The foreign strategy of the US must be]... unapologetic, idealistic, assertive and well funded. America must not only be the world's policeman or its sheriff, it must be its beacon and guide. Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival. This is a dominant consideration underlying the new regional defense strategy and requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to generate global power. These regions include Western Europe, East Asia, the territory of the former Soviet Union, and Southwest Asia... We must maintain the mechanisms for deterring potential competitors from even aspiring to a larger regional or global role.-- Paul Wolfowitz and Lewis Libby, draft Defense Policy Guidance, 1992

Given the magnitude of the threat, the current policy, which depends for its success upon the steadfastness of our coalition partners and upon the cooperation of Saddam Hussein, is dangerously inadequate. The only acceptable strategy is one that eliminates the possibility that Iraq will be able to use or threaten to use weapons of mass destruction. In the near term, this means a willingness to undertake military action as diplomacy is clearly failing. In the long term, it means removing Saddam Hussein and his regime from power. That now needs to become the aim of American foreign policy. -- Paul Wolfowitz, signatory, Project For The New American Century: Letter to President Clinton on Iraq, 1998

We agree with Secretary of State Powell's recent statement that Saddam Hussein "is one of the leading terrorists on the face of the Earth." It may be that the Iraqi government provided assistance in some form to the recent attack on the United States. But even if evidence does not link Iraq directly to the attack, any strategy aiming at the eradication of terrorism and its sponsors must include a determined effort to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq. Failure to undertake such an effort will constitute an early and perhaps decisive surrender in the war on international terrorism. The United States must therefore provide full military and financial support to the Iraqi opposition. American military force should be used to provide a "safe zone" in Iraq from which the opposition can operate. And American forces must be prepared to back up our commitment to the Iraqi opposition by all necessary means. -- Paul Wolfowitz, signatory, Project For The New American Century: Letter to President Bush on The War on Terrorism, 2001

Subject: Bush Takes Few Questions at AP Luncheon

The whole issue of questions from the audience at the Associated Press annual luncheon was a running joke for the president during his talk. He opened his speech by saying, "I kind of like ducking questions," and said he would be "glad to duck any questions like my mother once told me to do" following his remarks.

Subject: It will get worse if we don't all act now

Things in America are already horrific. If Bush is re-selected, it will be the end of democracy as we know it. The new world order will definitely commence! The rest of the world is depending on us to do the right thing. Our children's future depends on it. We must all do our part.

Yesterday I distributed to those in attendance at a bridge tournament, my "Bush Lied....Soldiers died" postcards. It was a great success. People seemed genuinely glad to receive them. I asked the participants to join me in mailing them out. It was just a small gesture, but it was something! Let's get busy. Kerry was not my pick for the Dems, but I must support anybody but the poor guy who imagines himself to be "chosen by God.....if not the people."

P.S. Since the media has been bought off by the Bushes, it's difficult for me to believe the polls. Is it possible that we are being lied to with these poll results? I just don't believe that the 50% of people who voted against Bush, are now supporting him.

Subject: Shirley's Granddaughter

Dear Shirley,

I am sorry that your granddaughter is having such a hard time. I know that you are all worried about her. I am a retired Clinical Social Worker and I have some ideas about what could be going on with her.

She may be experiencing symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Sometimes people are fearful and hypervigilant and other times they feel depressed. Sleeping goes with depression. Sometimes people are very active because they know if they stay busy then they won't have time to feel their feelings.

Both ways are ways to deal with unwanted or disturbing thoughts and feelings. For instance, even though she is glad she is home she may be feeling guilty about not being there with her comrades in arms who are still in danger. Not knowing is hard -- in fact, this is why most of us are hooked on the BUZZ. These are normal reactions to violent and abusive situations.

I suggest that you make it possible for her to see someone who is experienced with PTSD. The VA or your local crisis center may be able to help you with an appropriate referral.

I want to thank you for helping me through all of this. I think with a Grandmother like you she'll get through this in no time. I'll be looking forward to hearing what happens.

Subject: God

You know what terrifies me most about George Bush, it is his God Complex...He thinks he has been sent....he really does, folks! He thinks a higher power has told him to invade Iraq!  In my life, growing up in a small rural town, with no other race other than pure lily white, and no other religion but protestant, I have never been this frightened of a person running this country. I have a feeling sometimes that what we were told as kids, that there would be an anti-Christ, is coming to pass? Please convince me that I am wrong!

Subject: Mail From Down Under (forwarded by sender)

Dear Ambassador Schieffer [The American Ambassador to Australia],

As previously mentioned, I am sensitive to the need to be courteous & respectful to visitors to our country, whether they hail from the land of our great & powerful friend & ally, the United States of America, or anywhere-else.

Even when such visitors exhibit rude & ignorant behaviour, by attempting to meddle in our domestic affairs, I try to remain calm & ensure that my response is carefully measured, so as to avoid the possibility of any further injury being wrought to our deep & enduring friendship.

Today you saw fit to "warn" the Leader of our federal Opposition, the Hon Mark Latham MP, that his timetable for the withdrawal of Australian forces from Iraq "could harm Australia's alliance with the United States".

You then suggested that such plans could "send terrorists the wrong message."

Now the last thing I want to do is cause you, an honoured guest in our country, any undue embarrassment.

But the fact of the matter is that our great & fearless leader: our man of steel; the keeper of "core" truths in this nation; the great protector of Australian values; our country's foremost intelligence authority; that master of "spin", your deputy sheriff, little "Bonsai" Howard, has emphatically & repeatedly assured the populace of our country that our involvement in Iraq has nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.

Indeed, at the risk of stepping over the mark, there are a good many great & powerful leaders & high officials in your own country who are currently voicing the same suggestion to your Senate, with some of those luminaries even being so bold as to suggest that your "war" President [ the one in the flight-suit ] sabotaged his own declared war against terror by pursuing an unrelated war of aggression against Iraq.

Anyway, I won't pursue those issues, as I wouldn't want you to get cross or anything. Besides, that's an issue I'm more than confident that the citizens of your great country can sort-out for themselves, without any external interference from me.

But given that your assertion about messages to terrorists might be "a bit light", I can only assume that the real reason our continuing presence in Iraq is important enough for you to "warn" Mr. Latham against an untimely withdrawal, is that it might cause unwanted credibility problems for your President Bush, particularly given the recent defection of Spain from the great coalition cause?

So it seems to me that you may have chosen to interfere in our domestic affairs, in order to try & secure & protect the domestic standing of your President.

Now I know that our relationship has been such in the past that you might be encouraged to think that you can readily do something like that, without causing offence: particularly given the slavish behaviour evidenced by our current government in supporting every action or position taken by your administration, regardless of how obscene, dishonest, deceitful, corrupt or illegal it might be.

But, as one of the greatest Ambassadors ever produced by this country once said - using the best but plainest diplomatic language he could muster, so as to avoid any risk of possible offence being caused: "You, your mates & your barbie can bugger-off!!"

Most Sincerely,

John Richardson

Subject: June 30 turnover...?

I have no way of checking this, but my suspicions are high.

The reason that the June 30th date for "turnover" of power in Iraq is so important, is that international law forbids the selling off (read privatize) of the assets of an occupied country, and I would surmise that the time frame for the so-called government to ratify the asset forfeiture and sale is one year. I'm sure there is a BuzzFlash reader who has the ability and knowledge to check this.

Suspicious of anything the bushies deem important...

Subject:  How Does He Get Away With It?

In today's BuzzFlash recommendation piece about Bob Woodward's new book on Bush's war it says... "Unintentionally, Plan of Attack turns out to be a Bush self-indictment, only he doesn't realize it." Neither do his supporters. They simply don't comprehend what is happening to the country... too undereducated, too self involved, too lazy to get it.

It seems most Bush supporters just don't understand what's happening to the country. They distrust those of us who don't support Bush more than they distrust him, and they simply can't or won't try to figure it all out. We may be outvoted by Morons, which is all the more reason people like Kucinich and Nader (right or wrong) need to get on board with Kerry and leave their egos at the station!

And the Democratic Party needs to get its promotional and marketing ass in gear to counter the Bush machine. It isn't a question of money as much as it is a question of creativity and attitude.

Subject: Endless War

It's becoming more clear that there is a holy war beginning in the Middle East. It's evident that Iraq, whether in two or twenty years, will become a fundamentalist Islamic state just as we are becoming a fundamentalist evangelical state. And to prosecute this shameful war, that thing in the White House needs more cannon fodder and will do whatever he has to do to get it. Never in his life has he had to suffer the repercussions of his actions and he still doesn't have to. The stupidity, indifference and selfishness of half of this country is going to doom the rest of us. But the most shameful part of this is that the bloodthirsty liar in chief will institute a draft to fight his endless wars that God told him to fight. What I want to know is which God. The one God or satan. We must make our voices heard. BuzzFlash now commands a following of at least two million. Everybody must fight this proposed draft - howl around every council fire you can find, whether in congress, newspapers or anywhere else there are people to listen. The youth of our country must not be further wasted on this sham of a war fought for personal vengeance and personal gain. Let them send their children for a change.

Subject: more troops

Dear Buzz,

If we have between 2 and 3 million troops in uniform, spread out at bases in 140 countries, why can't we send some of these soldiers to Iraq? What are all these troops doing around the world that is more crucial than backing up our men and women who are being killed every day?

Just wondering......

Subject: "I'll hold your coat..."

I think Charlie Rangel, Dem. NY, is a great American. He is the one saying the draft is more equitable than the volunteer army. What he basically says if Bush is going to be in a "generational war" is that EVERYONE should be ready to make sacrifices and not just people who really, really need a job and an education and see the military as their only alternative. His argument is much more involved but is somewhat similar to the one during Vietnam that said people who could afford it didn't fight and the people who couldn't afford it did. ANYWAY...( he served himself of course)...

What I loved was what he told Bob Novak:  "If you want to fight, let's go, I'll hold your coat."  It was great.

Subject: supporters of GWB

Dear Buzz,

I often listen to C-Span's Washington Journal in the morning. They have callers divided into those FOR Bush and AGAINST Bush. I have noticed a pattern among those who call in support of the pResident. They all say, "I support the pResident 100 percent."

No one but a mindless idiot supports anyone 100 percent. No one is perfect, and no one deserves 100 percent support. It just proves that these supporters can't think for themselves.

With all these programmed robots heading off to the polls, is there really any hope?

I try really hard to remain upbeat, but at this point I don't think they need to bother rigging the electronic voting machines. The sheeple are so completely programmed by the constant drumbeat of repeated lies that these thugs will win the election easily.

Please tell me I'm wrong!!

Subject: Patricia....and the buzz reader who wrote about Timmy Hutchinson

Perhaps, Buzz reader, you don't remember, but Senator Tim Hutchinson was in the senate when Clinton was impeached. He voted for it, and all the time was having an affair with his young office aide...which caused a divorce between him and his wife, and he then married the office aide. In the process, that is why he lost his senate seat in Arkansas. So, it sounds like little Timmy is following father's footsteps. He does not have a good example for a father. Republicans love bashing Bill Clinton, but he saved his marriage.  Tim Hutchinson, Newt Gingrich and a number of other Republicans found to be cheating did not!

Thank you Patricia, and just keep a watch. I fear we cannot help. I was so against her going in the first place, and she, as all soldiers, marines or whatever, who go to a war like this are so brainwashed you would not believe.

DI's on training bases are paid dearly to teach them to Kill, kill, kill!  That is what she said, and her father admitted to me that she was brainwashed. I think he (my son) always thought I was finding fault with the girl, but that was never the case. I just thought no matter who was over there, that it was a trumped up war for Bush and Cheney, and I still do and will always!

You get it from the e-mails they send, when they do. They discuss a certain General that they were having dinner with, how much they hated to see him go...how loyal they were to him! Loyalty is one word you will hear a lot!

I think war in general messes people up...and the generals, nor the people like Bush and Cheney who send them, never have to worry about a bullet....they hide behind the poor kids that go! They are yellow-bellied cowards.!!!

I had an uncle who was in the second world war....and the death and destruction is the same, no matter the cause. But he came home, lost his wife to divorce because he could not stop drinking. He killed himself at 42.

There is nothing good about war. Most times, likely 98% of the time, it can be handled peacefully. But politicians like Bush love it, because they have so many nutty followers who love it...NRA...a number of followers of George Bush do so love war!!!

And it is entirely likely that they will never go, either!! Mostly, they hide behind the shadow of young men and women of 18-20!!

Subject: Definition of insanity

One common definition of insanity is to repeat the same action over and over again expecting a different result. Insanity...trying to defeat terrorism by killing innocent civilians. This does not work for the so-called terrorists or the so-called combatants of terrorism. Israel has been attempting to solve terrorism this way for 30 + years...Hasn't worked to the point that they are trying to build a 28 Ft. wall around their country, trying desperately to keep the terrorists out.

Now we are attempting the same tactic in Iraq. Doesn't work. For every innocent man, woman or child killed, many terrorists are created. As was put so succinctly many years ago, "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." So the Palestinians have declared war on the Israelis and the Iraqis are declaring war on the US.

At some time in every war, one side or the other must sue for peace, and one side or the other must offer peace.  In other words, they must pursue peace with a vengeance, and you cannot pursue peace through war...another insanity. It is also the responsibility for both sides to openly discuss and negotiate IN GOOD FAITH, the opposing viewpoints and find a consensus. The solution is win-win...not win-lose.

No one in the Middle East has yet either negotiated in good faith or pursued peace through negotiation, discussion, or compromise. Israel has one key to the peaceful resolution, the U.S. has another one, the Palestinians have one, and the Iraqis have one...It will take all four keys to unlock the door to peace, and force is not the answer.

Subject: Dudley Bush?

Buzz,

In her column today, Maureen Farrell commented on Peggy Noonan invoking Snidely Whiplash as a simile for the media at Bush's 4/13 press conference.

Snidely Whiplash was the nemesis of the handsome but ignorant bumbler Dudley Do-Right, who rode his horse (named "Horse") facing the tail, was unable to communicate and wreaked havoc in his attempts to rescue his love, Nell.

Peggy may have stumbled imagery that fits G. W. Bush to a T.

Subject:  A President Kerry

Hi BuzzFlash,

In 2004 we will have a President Kerry!

Don't even think the Thief will be there in 2004. This thief has stolen our votes, murdered innocent people. Over 700 of our loyal troops died because he lied, and lied, and lied, about everything we feel near and dear to our hearts. Then he has the gall to say God told him to do it!

Just what God is he talking about??? Not mine! My God is a God of peace, and love! From what hat did he pull his God? No, no, no, this man will have to face a God one day, and justice will be served by this God.

This thief was hand picked by real live hateful people, who felt he was the best man, the only man, not man enough to be truthful, to do the right thing for America and the rest of the world. A man with no conscience, a man with no heart, a man who would serve their purpose. Their evil purpose, and damn the world! This is THEIR voice he is hearing!

So you see, this is why there will be a President Kerry in 2004, because We Americans won't have it any other way. Common sense tells us that.

President Kerry will have a tough eight years, because these terrible people who hand picked the thief, will never rest. It is not in their mean hearts to do good at all.

I believe this.  (Count me as one of BuzzFlash, a loyal reader since BuzzFlash was just a little guy. We all came a long, long way.)

Subject: Bush Address to Editors

Dear BuzzFlash,

Bush addressed 1,500 editors and publishers at the Newspaper Assn. of America's Annual Convention on Wednesday (4/21/04).

You must see this. Bush gives a long rambling push for permanent tax cuts, pre-emptive war, tax-zeroing for broadband, free-trade, you know the drill.

He was very warmly received, and at the end thrown a couple of softball questions. In his speech he said things like [paraphrased] "we inherited one policy toward North Korea. And we spent a long time trying to get the right policy. And we finally got everybody in the neighborhood to talk." Also "we've had France, and Britain and Germany, civilized nations, talk to Iran..." Nothing. I imagine the Iranians are surprised that they aren't a civilized nation.

At one point the applause reminded me of Stalin, where people would be afraid to be the first one to stop clapping. Finally, Bush says "okay, long enough" and the applause stopped on a dime!

If these are the editors and publishers of America, we are screwed. See for yourself. It was on C-Span. I don't know if this RealPlayer location will work for everyone rtsp://video.c-span.org/15days/e042104_bush.rm

If it doesn't work go to C-Span.org and look for something titled Pres. Bush Luncheon Address at the Newspaper Assn. of America Annual Convention (04/21/2004)

You can read a laudatory story about the speech from the horses mouth at http://www.asne.org/images/2004reporter/ where the story ends with "'I think that everyone has the right to avoid questions,' said Marcelo Rech, editor of Zero Hora, a Brazilian newspaper. 'If he was open to questions, it might open the gates of hell.'"

PS the knot on his tie was crooked, pulled off to the right, and poorly formed. Might be a scoop for the NY Times or Washington Post in there.

Starting on sunday with #1 whore Russert bringing up some "questions" about Kerry's military records manufactured by a dittohead operative, and quickly picked up and punted by CNN whores Wolfgang VonBlitzer, and Judy Woodruff. The media cannot be allowed another free ride on their anti democracy behavior. All readers of BuzzFlash should e-mail media outlets daily and show them how many people are aware of what they have been doing for almost 4 years. For instance - some advice to the people who are advising John Kerry - have the man stand erect with shoulders back! Be verbally bold, aggressive and in your face! Utilize cynical and caustic humor:

" I fully intend on reading my own PDB' s and they won't have to be explained to me. You see, I very much enjoy reading and I even comprehend those things I read."

Subject: Chimpeach is the Word. Spread it.

Hi Buzzy, freewayblogger here.

I was up the other night painting signs that said "Impeach" to put on the freeways, as is my patriotic duty, when I noticed two of them fallen together to make the word "Chimpeach". After laughing a bit, I wondered if I was the first to come up with it, and if it's promotion would ultimately help or hinder the fight against the Unelected One. Then I thought what the hell, painted it in three foot tall letters and stuck it over the Santa Monica Freeway. You can see it here:

Right now if you google "Chimpeach" it shows up on one website. (now 29) (I was the 2nd guy to think of it, apparently...) I think we can do better than that. Bumperstickermakers: Go Wild.

"It's no surprise, then, that these bills remain stuck in committees with no sign of budging. The House version has 13 co-sponsors; the Senate version, none. The Democrats are trying to make the point that Bush's War is being fought by cannon fodder: young men and women from poor and rural areas.

But a BuzzFlash warning to Congressman Rangel, who we admire: you're playing with fire. Come January, if Bush is sworn in again, he'll tell Tom DeLay to run with your bill and then say it was the idea of the Democrats to reinstate the draft. "

The Rangel and Hollings bills are totally irrelevant and will never be passed. This is just confusing the issue as people will think the Dem bills are needed for the draft and that the Dems are the only ones pushing the draft!

The SSS draft already exists, no new legislation is needed. JUST A TRIGGER RESOLUTION TO REAUTHORIZE CONSCRIPTION is what Congress has to pass, rather than the usual wrangling over new laws. Bush will not want to draft women and he'll just ask for the trigger vote on the current system, which as you say will be ready to go within 75 days of March 31, 2005.

Subject: CNN

As a Canadian , the question of Republican good/Democrat bad seemed largely irrelevant. But there was something unseemly about what I was hearing.

Judy Woodruff sounded like a passive-aggresive bully pedaling minor (and always democratic) indiscretions as though she expected me to be morally outraged.

With each unfair, arrogant, unbalanced, insidious, smarmy, suggestive remark my rage grew.

I found myself responding with mild profanity followed quickly by louder, cruder profanity. Soon I was making rude gestures at Robert Novak. This is News?

CNN sounded just like the village gossip and I knew for a fact that the village gossip was a chronic liar.

I thought of an old saying. "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear." I went to Michael Moore.com

There was one other rare picture that surfaced in the Seattle Times, that one had about 20 flag draped coffins in a cargo plane and somehow made it's way past the state run censors.

Well, the George Bush totalitarians found out about it and the person who took the photo has been Fired!

And just for good measure, they also fired her husband too.

Folks, this is living proof that we do NOT have a free press or a free country!

"Silicio was let go yesterday for violating U.S. government and company regulations, said William Silva, president of Maytag Aircraft"

So not only do we have no freedom of speech, Americans cannot even keep their mouth shut and just show a photo.

This is incredible, just unbelievable.. No, its outrageous, infuriating.

Please call your congressman and ask them if Americans are not allowed to speak freely, can we just silently pass photos to each other?

Tell your congressman that freedom of speech is too much to ask for under George Bush, is it ok for Americans to have the freedom of eye SIGHT?!?

Woman loses her job over coffins photo
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/200...

A military contractor has fired Tami Silicio, a Kuwait-based cargo worker whose photograph of flag-draped coffins of fallen U.S. soldiers was published in Sunday's edition of The Seattle Times.

Silicio was let go yesterday for violating U.S. government and company regulations, said William Silva, president of Maytag Aircraft, the contractor that employed Silicio at Kuwait International Airport.

"I feel like I was hit in the chest with a steel bar and got my wind knocked out. I have to admit I liked my job, and I liked what I did," Silicio said.
