THIS IS PART 2 OF THE APRIL 1, 2004 BUZZFLASH MAILBAG. CLICK HERE FOR PART 1. Subj: March 30 Mailbag I'm a daily visitor to BuzzFlash, who has passed this invaluable link on to many others. I am also a veteran who served proudly in the Navy during the height of the Viet Nam adventure. I wish that every American could read some of the e-mails you have received, March 30 in particular. I have become extremely saddened that the country I have loved has become what it is, and that the majority remain blind of indifferent to what's happening. A lot of the blue collar unemployed I have talked with still feel Bush is one of the best presidents in history (I'm missing something) I live in the Cambridge Mass area, one of the few pockets of thinking and questioning souls, who are for the most part outraged by the lies, deceit, greed, etc that have become the rule of the day. I've spent a lot of time talking to random people; at work, in the street, in cafes, book stores, etc and they all agree that if Bush gets in for a second term, then this country is done for, except for Fundamentalists, who firmly believe he is anointed by God. In one conversation with a couple of guys who working in the law enforcement/security field, one said that the Bush mob appear as obvious as villains from an Austin Powers movie, and wonder why so few others see it. There has been a common thread in all the conversations I've had, that people feel the BFEE has so totally stacked the deck in their favor that nobody can possibly extract them from power. They've done a great job of hijacking Christianity to suit their agenda. Another common thread that has come out in most of these conversations is what will happen during Bush's second term. The feeling has been that the internet will be gutted, even more social unrest, violence, and probably martial law. Everything he has said and done, makes me a little sicker to my stomach. His recent "make funny" joke about the weapons of mass destruction...well I'm even more convinced now that he and his 1000 closest friends have no soul, or have sold it to the highest bidder. He may as well just piss on every dead vet's grave. And I thought Nixon, Reagan and Bush 1 were bad. The current admin makes them look like a bunch of choir boys. Lord God, deliver us please! Shalom, Ray Subj: bush/cheney who in the hell do these guys think they are....they will testify but not under oath and together to tell one lie after another... i am so disgusted with the lax newspapers reporting....i have asked the local morning paper to print a box on the front page of the tragic loss of our soldiers...it seems no one likes to remind the public of this tragic loss of life let alone how many innocent iraqis are also gone but a box on the front page of paris hilton supporting the seals more important...i love america w/all my heart but this is no longer the america i have known for 76 years....if everyone would vote absentee we could get around the black box hack and we really need to wake up to the hazards of this corrupt administration... suzy in tucson Subj: The Horror of Violence in Iraq On my way home today, I heard that four american construction workers were murdered, then dragged through the streets ....then hung from something. I cannot believe, I am seeing nothing on television when I got home. Also, 4 American soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb. We got the news over the weekend, that our granddaughter is on her way home. She is sick.....it is horrible to thank God that she developed a cyst on an ovary...and they have absolutely sent her on a tour of the world, in the process of getting her to the best place...so as to not have to be responsible. He mother says that she was immediately sent to Frankfurt, Germany...and kept there for a few days.....with the time change from Iraq to here, it is hard for her to call. She gets her mom up at 3:30 am, to try to keep her abreast of what is going on. Ovarian cysts are nothing to fool around with...but, yesterday, she left a message that they are flying her to Texas.....?????, we are confused. They had to give her an allowance to buy clothes...because she cannot wear her uniform, out of the unit. So....she is a civilian, I suppose, for the next 30 days, then she will rejoin her unit in Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo... We absolutely know nothing. But, she missed the violence today in Falluja......they are going to kill all Americans....the radicals do not want us there, and never have..They are killing Americans no matter what they are doing. Kara (my granddaughter) told her mom...that the last hotel blast was one block from their camp. And, she lived with the pain of the cyst, thinking that she was just nervous...likely, their resolve to obey their commander (Jesus Christ Bush) has caused a lot of people in the military to die from natural causes. I will be glad she is home. The other grandson, who wanted to join the marines....has been told "Not a chance" by his Dad (who is not my son). This kid, while one of the smartest kids I have ever known, and who is one of the best, and sweetest people I have ever known (many times I have told people he is the best grandkid I have)...would not make it in Iraq... and the father has enough sense to know that! They get three months training and over they go!! His father pays his tuition and always has, says he is going straight to college, if anywhere! Smart man!!!! I pray that my sons get their minds straightened out about this war....if that happens I can ask for nothing else! I feel that Kara will not have to go back....but, who knows, I could be wrong. I think Bush would take anyone!!! Shirley......St.Louis Dear BuzzFlash, The nine eleven commission needs to ask bush one particular question. If Clarke was so out of the loop and so inept, why was he kept on and who would have organized everything after the attacks that awful morning? Who would they have put in charge if Clarke had not been there on the morning of September 11, 2001? Condi couldn't do it, and Cheney couldn't do it and bush was reading to kids in Florida. So who could have done what needed to be done to try to bring control amid the chaos? pissed off patricia Subj: A Suggestion {SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1}A suggestion I am so tired of the Bush Administration and their lies. How many more have to die before we get of these un-American fools? Today was the final straw. I am sorry, it is time to do something. I have a modest suggestion: every time you hear one of the chock-full-of-lies advertisements (on TV or Radio) turn the damned thing off for ten minutes. I am pretty certain that if we did nationwide, the effect would be chilling. Since no one seems to be enforcing the truth in advertising laws, isn't it time we did? Veritas Subj: 600 SOLDIERS HAVE DIED - HOW CAN BUSH SLEEP AT NIGHT? Dear Buzz It was a terrible day for our nation. FIVE soldiers killed, and four american contractors killed, burnt and mutilated in Iraq. What horrible deaths. My heart goes out to all their loved ones, and cannot for one minute even imagine what they must be all going through. Every time I hear awful news like this, my anger against Bush and his war mongering administration just rises. How dare they send our sons and daughters to fight a war of choice, for their greedy, unreasonable purposes. There is absolutely NO JUSTIFICATION for this war. Every bloody reason they gave to fool the nation has turned out to be false. I blame this incompetent moron in the white house, his scheming and crooked VP, Rumsfeld, CONdi Rice, Powell, Wolfman, the Black Perle and others for the BIGGEST BLUNDER in our history, I also blame the congress for being so submissive to Bush and giving him the authority to do whatever he wanted, I also blame the spineless media for continually being used by the white house to spin and mislead this nation. They are being manipulated and controlled by the neocons and they don't know it. I have one thing to say to George Bush - CONGRATULATIONS, you have unleashed unholy hell in Iraq, you made a bad situation worse, and after your pathetic landing on an aircraft carrier that said mission accomplished, today the total number of precious american soldiers that gave their lives for your disgusting Bush Doctrine, the pre-emptive attack on a weak country, now stands at 600 and still counting. You have been the most incompetent president in our history, and you will be remembered in history as such, especially when our children and grandchildren are paying down the biggest deficit in our history. I guess he will not be reading this, but it sure makes me feel good say it! A BuzzFlash Fan. Judith Foster, Subj: Lou Dobbs Some of us at DU have been worried about what has happened to Lou Dobbs. We haven't seen him much since he took on the rightwing corporate whores with a vengeance. Sadly, we are well aware of what can happen to those who dare to confront the 'machine'. Anyway, have you heard anything about Lou lately? Melinda Subj: Out of gas, Out of jobs, Out of touch Hi Buzz, So many subjects, so little time. Keep the fire to their feet. =========================================== Wednesday, March 31, 2004 George W.
Bush Mr. President, Bad day, Sir? Have some tea. Take a break. You've earned it, heaven knows. Sir? I have something to ask you. Yeah, I know. When didn't I? I know you don't drive your own vehicles on the public roads anymore but has anyone told you about the price of gas? It's all over the papers and the TV. This is very hard on people, especially the poor and unemployed, as well as creating an even larger burden on those already overtaxed and oppressed owners of multiple SUVs and town cars. It doesn't look any better for the future, either. OPEC says they are lowering their production levels, tightening the supply even more. I understand that you're working on that problem in Iraq right now and I know that there are long-term plans for the control of more oil, now languishing unused under Central Europe and some sections of the old USSR. But I've also seen research that says the world is running out of oil, including those fields that we don't yet control. This will happen within the lifetime of people alive today. If that's the case, shouldn't we be doing something to plan for the time when it is all gone? You know, like supporting R&D for alternative fuels, subsidizing solar energy installations, funding wind, water and methane generation capabilities? Sir? Sir? You should sit down. Your face has gone the most alarming color! Should I call someone? Drink your tea, Mr. President. That'll help. Are you feeling well enough to chat while we're waiting for the Surgeon General? No, I promise. No more horror stories. (I feel bad, Sir. I'm sorry for jacking your blood pressure like that. No more alternatives to oil talk.) Thank you, Sir. Your color's much better now. While we're waiting, I really wanted to thank you for this job. It's made all the difference. I now have a reason to get up every day, a direction to my life. Since I was a long-time unemployed person until I landed this gig as your Tea Czarina, I am very sensitive to the subject of the unemployed. Are you up to a non-oil-related-activity question, Sir? Why wouldn't you extend unemployment benefits for the jobless? Mr. President! Respectfully, Sir, I personally know that's not true. Just because someone gets unemployment money doesn't mean that they will sit on their duff watching TV all day. You've never collected unemployment, have you Sir? I didn't think so. It's really not that much money. Are you afraid that they're going to squander it all on food or shelter or medical care? I've seen several analyses that say we should all be retrained for the mad flush of jobs that are just around the corner - and they would be materializing around end of November, early December, would you say? My only problem with this is that there appear to be only a few industries that will be growing enough to provide jobs for us after we get all this retraining. No, it's true, Sir. They are: 1.) Service industries. Service jobs that cannot be physically transferred overseas like fast food servers, street sweepers, gardeners, and babysitters. (The problem here is that you have already proposed allowing in braceros who will do these jobs at very depressed rates, so no joy there.) 2.) The health care industry. Your big-time contributors look forward to an even greater fortune that the one you gave them with the Medicare bill, what with all of those Boomers getting old and ill. What we must prepare for in addition is all our brave men and women in uniform who will be maimed fighting our coming wars of dominion (see #3). Won't it cut into their profits to pay people a living wage? Did I say something funny, Sir? 3.) The arms industry. I'll venture that this is the biggie. This was the biggie during the Cold War and this will be the biggie now. It's still the same guys, isn't it, Sir? Your dad would know. You should give him a call. Or Mr. Cheney. He was involved, he could tell you, too. I'm truly glad to hear that you're working on creating jobs. While that's very noble of you, isn't that going to take some time? What are the long-term unemployed going to eat while they are waiting? Scones? How will they afford the airfare to Haiti? Most Sincerely, Barbara
A. Rittiman Subj: Advice for the President The Honorable
George W. Bush Dear George, Hi, It’s me again, Richard from out here in Washington State. I have been watching the news lately and it looks to me like you are getting some bad press. I have some more free advice for you if you are interested. I can tell that you are feeling bad about some of the fibs you have been telling people for the last couple of years. I figure that your advisors are the ones to blame for the little white lies you have told. Well, actually some of them have been real whoppers but they are still not really your fault, right? I can tell you are anxious to tell the American people the real truth but you just can’t figure out how to get started. Well, I have an idea that might work. Since you are such a regular guy and people really like you and all, I think you would be forgiven by the people if you just came right out and admitted that you lied about the WMDs in Iraq and whatever else you were forced to lie about because your advisors made you do it. I think if you sincerely ask the people to forgive you and admit every lie you have told, they might just go for it. Well, maybe don’t tell them every single one of your lies, just the big ones. You wouldn’t want to make too big of a production out of it and people might get bored and loose interest if you talked for hours and hours. So lets just go for a few of the major lies and tell the people how sorry you are and how you want to repent and you want to be forgiven. One thing that would really help your cause is if you fired all those advisors and hired some new ones. Like I told you before, you need to get some advisors with a sense of humor. It would also be good if they were at least a little bit honest and also if they had some compassion for the plight of people less fortunate than themselves, they would contribute more to your chances of not being tarred and feathered and ran out of town on a rail. I think you should get started on this idea very soon before things get so bad that the people get into their mob mentality and come looking for you. You know how hard it is to deal with a mob. You would have to call in the army and start shooting your own people and that would just make things a lot worse for you in the long run. That’s it for now but I have a few other ideas that I would like to propose to you. I think you will like them. I will be in touch in the near future. Good luck and if you need any help or advice, I am here for you. Just drop me an email and I will be happy to help out as a service to my country. Respectfully Yours, R Franklin
Stencil Subj: Richard Clarke on The Daily Show I had only seen portions of Mr. Clarke's TV interviews until last night. As I watched Jon Stewart interview him I got a chill when I realized what Clarke was trying to say. I'm not the most intuitive guy in the world, but my girlfriend got the same message from it so it's not just MY imagination. Do you remember that old newsreel from the Hanoi Hilton with the American prisoner blinking-out T-O-R-T-U-R-E in Morse code? Well I got something similar from Clarke last night. I think he was sending out a warning. Stewart is a good interviewer and a great guy, but he runs a comedy show and has to keep it light so he couldn't get too direct. But he did ask about two things in succession: the WH attacks on Clarke and information that was removed from his book by the same WH (who reviewed it in mid-2003). The way Clarke talked about the attacks and then the look on his face when he said something like, "some very important stuff was removed [from the book]" gave me a chill. I felt Clarke was linking the two and saying something like: 'my public story is just the tip of the iceberg.' I think he is doing the 21-century equivalent of screaming DANGER from the rooftops - through the fog of the biased corporate media. In the corporate media's present state, he is screaming as loud as he can. Derek in Phoenixville, PA Subj: We Need to Keep Up the Heat on John Kerry Dear BuzzFlashers: 'Tis me, your loyal BuzzFlash reader and Christian Liberal. I just visited that website, WhiteHouseForSale.org. I urge every reader of this webpage to visit that website and find out how the neo-cons have managed to infect our government with it's sickening lust for global domination. Many members of Congress and other elected officials, such as Haley Barbour, Dennis Hastert, Jennifer Dunn, are on the list of "Pioneers and Rangers". And other notables, like Roger Staubach (of Dallas Cowboys' fame) are also on that list of elite fundraisers that have taken control of the Government and claim they're doing it in the name of Jesus. I don't know about you, but nowhere in my Bible I have found that Jesus is co-signing on: - Robbing the poor to give to the Rich (in fact, Jesus' ministry was about the exact opposite; that's why the government leaders ordered His death) - Polluting the environment, and upsetting ecological balance (the land is equipped for our very survival); - Lying and refusal to take responsibility or have accountability (in fact, the Bible constantly admonishes us to take responsibility for our actions, and be held accountable) - Character assassinations for those who dare to tell the truth (in the book of Proverbs, there are several scriptures that cautions us not to "bear false witness against our neighbor."{Leviticus 19:12} Let me move on, for I get depressed reciting such examples. Now for John Kerry. BuzzFlash warned Mr. Kerry to define himself before the Bush Cartel does it for him. It appears Mr. Kerry hasn't paid heed to BuzzFlash's warnings. I've posted letters on this very website stating that if John Kerry wanted to supplant Howard Dean as the Democratic front runner by usurping his message, he must also be willing to finish what Dr. Dean started. Apparently, neither Senator Kerry, nor his campaign staff (which features an African-American Congress member as one of his national co-chairs) have paid attention to the basic fundamentals which will lead to a win for Kerry in November. So what do we do about this dereliction of duty? I never identify the problem without proposing an action plan. 1. We need to bombard Kerry's website with emails, his campaign offices with letters, faxes, phone calls, and tell him and his campaign to stop being nice, and view this campaign from the concept of going to battle. While some of Kerry's comments indicate that, we need to see a concerted effort from his entire campaign. We need to reinforce the urgency of Kerry developing a platform of the issues, NOW! Those who are planning to campaign for Kerry, make yourselves known, right NOW, because the summer will be too late. 2. If Kerry can't figure out his platform, we need to develop it for him, and deliver it to him, so he can get practice, do the homework and research, and articulate it in a manner that clearly serves two points: (a) defining him as a Commander-in-Chief and (b) give Democrats, Independents, Greens, and disgusted Republicans a reason to turn out in droves in November to vote for him. 3. Lobby the FEC and tell them to stop fooling around with trying to change the rules in mid year to shut up any non-profit organization that is critical of the Bush Administration by redefining them as campaign finance groups. There is a hearing for public comment in Washington, DC April 14-15, 2004 where they will be accepting public comment on the rule changes. The rule changes are a way to get around the Supreme Court's upholding McCain-Feingold. Can you imagine what this rule change does to free speech? Make yourself heard; better yet, tell Kerry to challenge the President on this issue! 4. Tell Kerry not to wait until he's nominated for the Presidency; start planning those debates with Bush NOW! And contact independent media to act as moderators, and no major network should get the privilege of broadcasting the debates because if Bush starts to look bad, they'll conveniently insert a commercial and viewers will miss the nuts and bolts of the debates; they will only show the parts that are favorable to Bush and put more media spin than they already have. 5. Donate to MoveOn, People for the American Way, BuzzFlash; any outlet that's devoted to truth, justice, and the American Way! This is my challenge to you, my fellow BuzzFlash readers. I'm taking it up; will you join me? Leutisha
Stills: loyal BuzzFlash Reader, and Proud Christian Liberal Hi BuzzFlash, President Clinton, was forced to answer Questions under oath, and all he did was miss use the Zipper on his birches, no one was killed and the only people who were hurt was his wife and Daughter, and apparently that has been forgiven. Bush and Cheney. were instrumental in causing 3000 People to die a horrible death on 9/11, and over 500 of our Troops have died in this phony Oil war, and both of them refuse to testify under oath. Am I missing something here, or are the representatives of American People dumb enough to let them get away with this? A long time supporter of a GREAT website A BuzzFlash Reader Well, I have to weigh in on the Air America debut of Wed. I caught Randi Rhodes -- she was great. The evening stuff was pretty poor- I am afraid ieAmerica was better format for getting the liberal message out. Too much of the long, never-ending personal interviews was really boring and I'm afraid turned off many people. I hope Franken was more targeted and fast moving than the evening program was. Pass on the message to Air America as there is nothing on their web page for contacts, etc. Jean Legge Bring back Mike Malloy. Subj: Deborah Norville / Al Franken interview Dear BuzzFlash; Be sure and get the transcript of this evening's Deborah Norville Tonight interview of Al Franken on MSNBC. G. Gordon Liddy was also on the show and stated that Bill O'Reilly was "an embarrassment to my side." I hope you will check this out and post it on BuzzFlash. Thanks for the great work. Greg Smith [BuzzFlash Note: 'Deborah Norville Tonight' for March 31 transcript.] Subj: Your editorial on If Kerry Wins, Bush... I expect if the Bush/Cheney back is against the wall, and if the paperless voting machines cannot bring them the election, to expect the elections to be suspended. What horrific act would they do to accomplish this, I will leave to your imagination... I am not generally a conspiracy theorist; it is just that since the US Supreme Court selected Bush/Cheney, I and this country have not been the same...and the 50% and above approval rating for Bush/Cheney shows how Hitler was able to grab power. We are awaiting the same fate...maybe. Karen/Platteville, WI Subj: The OPEC Production Cut To The Editor: Something to contemplate about OPEC's decision, led by the Saudis no less, to cut production and thus increase the price of gas at the pump. Given the closeness of the House of Saud and the House of Bush, a likely scenario is that this is really a prearranged deal between the two. If OPEC had decided to increase production now to reduce gas prices, it would have long been forgotten by November. But if they make much noise about cutting production now and then in a few months the dolt in charge harrumphs about how he will go mano a mano with the Saudis and jawbone (his word) them into increasing production and thus reducing prices, the political benefit could be substantial. Remember: this administration does EVERYTHING for political benefit. Armando
Gutierrez, Ph.D. Subj: Gas Boycott I am trying to start a nation wide Gas boycott. This will bring the prices back down and hurt Bush and Cheney. They are the main reason gas prices are going up. I need you your help. Thank you, Gregory A Reece Dear BuzzFlash, I was so pleased to read your editorial this morning regarding jail time for the gangsters in the White House. We can only pray that the Kerry and his cohorts will wake up and fight this snake and his poisonous deceit as if his, and our lives, depend upon it. Indeed the entire planet hangs in the balance at this juncture in history. Do we face a future to be determined by fundamentalist preacher wanna be and his gang of thugs or do we stand and say enough is enough. There are so many questions that need to answered regarding the attacks of 911, and although it may be hard to accept that the Bush elite would even contemplate attacking our own country, when one begins to track back the events that led up that day and the reactions and lies that have followed, it becomes hard not to believe that the Bushies and their subspecies were at the heart of the entire episode. If the Democrats really want to win this ‘election’they need only to take off the blinders and the gloves and start asking the real questions surrounding this issue. Blatant treason and criminality are staring us straight in the face and we are too polite to say it. A couple of weeks ago a book was released by Olive Branch Press titled ‘The New Pearl Harbor; Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 911. The book is authored by David Ray Griffen and rather than pursuing a single theory it simply lays out the questions that are being avoided by the Government and glossed over by the Bushies. The question of complicity is looked at in some detail and is broken down into 8 levels ranging from the government is totally incompetent to this was a brilliantly executed black operation carried out by the highest levels of US intelligence. Many things regarding the whole issue of 911 from the day it happened to the news yesterday that Frau Condi will testify and inside deals that have been cut to prevent the rest of the Bush crime family from having to answer any questions begin to make perfect sense, when taken in the context of the incongruities presented in this book. It is a must read for anyone really seeking to expose this fraudulent government for what it truly is. Again, if the Democrats really want to win this government back they need to begin to promote this book and to strike at the heart of the matter. As hard as it is for some folks to accept it, we as a nation are in a serious crisis and our future as a people hangs in the balance. What has made 911 so easy to get away with has been the fact that the crime was so atrocious that reasonable people are reluctant to allow themselves to even suspect the true perpetrators would be the very people we entrust with the security of the nation. It’s just too much to fathom, but to ignore it will define us as a nation for the future and will make it only easier the next time these thugs decide they want to create a reason to pursue their twisted agenda. Honestly this is serious stuff, we have got to face up to the truth…… Most sincerely, Audie Wilson Subj: Seen the news I still cannot believe after the biggest FLIP FLOP in recent HISTORY concerning the Condi Rice fiasco, the President is still going to FUNDRAISERS using the line of how much of a FLIP FLOP John Kerry is. They are beyond arrogant. They really don't give a F*ck what you think! To them, most Americans don't think any way which works to their advantage. PJOnes Subj: Backs Against the Wall Editorial I think you are correct in your thinking. I recall a time, not so long ago, when a Vice President had his back up against the wall over serious corruption charges. However, he was spared ever having to face justice when a coup d'etat took place in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. No, don't fear that your thinking about 9/11 might tend toward paranoia. You are most probably correct in all your assumptions. This is an evil, treacherous, dastardly cabal of American Fascists. Don't be afraid of that word either. If you want something more contemporary, you can use good ol' Harry Truman. He'd probably call them "a bunch of goddam, greedy liars." How's that? And if we are to prevail this fall, we all need to put a little "Harry Truman" into our collective spines, or it's good bye Constitution; good bye American Republic and "hello" Fascism. God help us all. Tom Sciamanna Subj: I Couldn't Agree More Hi gang, I read your editorial and I don't ordinarily subscribe to conspiracy theories, especially with this bunch of slugs, they're too incompetent to put together a really intelligent plot to take over the country. What they've succeeded in doing, however, is getting everyone who thinks like them, went to the same schools as them, to act like them. So, no, I don't think they ever had to have a sit down somewhere to discuss the things that have come to pass. Just by thinking and acting the same, the same result has happened. And yes they will do anything to remain in power, just look at Spain in the '30s -- Franco didn't hesitate to invite Hitler's Condor legions in for a dress rehearsal of W.W.II. So no don't look for anything remotely resembling a fair fight and good loser should they go down in a fair fight because it ain't going to happen. What Kerry needs is the "Ragin Cajin" on his payroll. Carville is the kind of Liberal who won't hesitate to get down and dirty with Anti-Christs like Rove and Cheney. Just another Liberal perspective. Daniel |
