RE: Is Kerry behind the push polls and dirty tricks? Dear BuzzFlash, I just read that Bu$hCo has already spent $33.6 MILLION on his campaign! More than Dean, who is running an active campaign. Maybe some of this went into the “dirty tricks”budget. If the mainstream media was truly independent, someone would be investigating this. It would be very interesting to see how this money was spent. Thanks for your help. -Alan Dear BuzzFlash, I think in honor of the great job CBS did with broadcasting the Super Bowl, people should contact them and let them know how we feel. Just go to CBS.com and scroll down to the "feedback" link. It's fun and easy. Here is a sample.
Who knows if anyone at the network will even bother to read them, but if they do, maybe we can fill their inbox with similar letters of support. Thanks for all you do, BuzzFlash. -Jason Subj: Bush's Budge Here's a headline for you: So Bush's budget came out today. Here's a fun number for you -- if absolutely no additional spending is added (which let's be honest, he is especially fond of doing; re: Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.), then Bush's budget spends $991,000.00 per MINUTE more than it takes in. "It's your money" Yeah, it's our debt, too. What a jack ass. Brad Subj: The Dean Story Buzz, Love you guys. Was surprised to see you posting the lie the Washington Post is putting out there about Dean's financial condition. Actually, the situation is much brighter than is being portrayed by the nuts over at the WP and at the NYT. Dean has raised more money than Kerry since Iowa and ended the year with more money on hand. Furthermore, he is raising money at a rate of at time as high as $20,000 per hour just on the internet, and he is debt free. Kerry on the other hand borrowed against his home, and those funds must be paid back by his campaign. Kerry is essentially in the hole going into Feb 7. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Just curious If CBS couldn't air "controversial" ads from MoveOn.org and PETA, why is it ok for them to "accidentally" show us Janet Jackson's breast? Seems to fly in the face of traditional conservative views that we know the folks at CBS have. Melissa Subj: Scratch a conservative, find a racist An article from the San Francisco Chronicle about a local high school boy who has recently appeared on O’Reilly. He has been ranting against immigrants. Perhaps the real story is to ask why he is lionized by O’Reilly as a “conservative.” http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi George McLaughlin Walnut Creek, CA Subj: Curious Dear BuzzMasters... I have been anxiously awaiting your take on the story about how the RNC broke into the DNC computers and accessed highly sensitive information. This certainly smells a lot like the original Watergate issue, so I am wondering why you guys aren't all over it! Did I just miss it, or are you not commenting for some reason? Regards, DJ Davis Subj: MoveOn.org's Ad You need to organize a e-mail campaign so your readers can e-mail CBS and thank them for showing us Janet Jackson's breast instead of a controversial ad. MT Lee Subj: Apologies are Deafening BuzzFlash, It's not only apologies to Scott Ritter (Charlie DeLuca Feb 2 mailbag) that are deafening: What about apologies to the father and son who were thrown out of a New York mall in March 2003 for wearing shirts that said "Peace" ? What about apologies to all those citizens who were labeled traitors for daring to question Bush's "intelligence ?" What about apologies to France and Germany from GW ? What about apologies from the idiot at the government cafeteria who invented "Freedom Fries ?" Larry, [BuzzFlash Note: The "Freedom Fries" idiots -- plural -- are congressmen. Silly, wrong, and ignorant congressmen, but congressmen nonetheless.] Subj: How many chances will we get? RE: A BuzzFlash EDITORIAL What a travesty: "Bush, Now to Allow an Investigation About WMDs" The Democrats and honest Republicans (yes, there are many of them) shied away from thoroughly investigating the first President Bush (the one who was legitimately elected) for crimes and malfeasance committed in the Iran-Contra debacle. If not for their timidity, it's doubtful we would have ended up with Junior snatching the keys to the arsenal and treasury and all the pain and misery he has caused. There must be no retreat this time. If Junior slips through the net and gets away with his misdeeds, we may as well repeal the entire Constitution and install him as Dictator-for-life, which by his own admission, would make his job a "whole lot easier." To quote Maggie Thatcher: "This is no time to go wobbly." FC Hey Buzz, I totally agree with Shirley from St. Louis about Rudy Giuliani (several mailbags ago). He had his few months of heroism, and yes, he did deserve praise for his handling of 9/11, especially since our commander-in-thief was no where to be found. But that doesn't make up for the 8 years of racial polarization and Gestapo police tactics that were so present under his reign. And I've always wondered where all those homeless people went. They just seemed to have disappeared when he took office. I don't think they went to shelters, and I know he didn't give them all homes! Just wondering. And yes, he did parade around town for about 2 years with HIS MISTRESS! His wife first found out he was filing for divorce on the 6:00 news! He's a real charmer. But it's ok. He's a republican and they're allowed to do that - I mean he was married and no one seemed to have a problem that he had a girlfriend too - on exhibition for all to see. Seriously, I don't think we need to worry too much. He's a social liberal - pro-choice, gun control, etc. I don't think Bush's "base" would tolerate him as a VP. Of course, Giuliani is a hero in America. It would be real bad news for us if he did take the VP ticket. But somehow, I just don't think so. Barbara in NYC Subj: ABB D.Turner...I have belonged to the ABB club for a long time...you just put a name on it for me. Did you know, that there are now pins , I saw someone the other night on one of the campaigns with an "ABB" pin on, and the host asked what it meant, and they told her. I wish I could remember who it was...if there is anyone out there who saw this or knows where you can get that pin...please inform us.. Thanks................Shirley..........St.Louis Subj: Bush on Super Bowl Did anyone notice, on one of the preview shows before the Super Bowl, there was George W., speaking to the CBS sports hosts for about 5 minutes. MoveOn.org didn't get its time, because it was too political. But 5 minutes' worth of the Wit and Wisdom of George W -- worthless. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: More Bush Cover Up Hi Buzz, It is an outrage to allow bush to appoint the people on the panel to investigate the intelligence cover up on Iraq. The republicans think this is a dictator. Thanks, Save democracy A BuzzFlash Reader Dear Buzz: Paul Wolfowitz isn't completely stupid. During his visit to Iraq he was quoted as saying, "It's not that elections themselves will settle things,'' he said. ``What will settle things is when people believe they have a system that will treat them fairly, no matter who wins the election.'' Gee, I know EXACTLY how the Iraqi people feel. Sharon Andrews Subj: Schwarzenegger OKs Execution of a Man Whose Case is Full of Holes Clemency for Kevin Cooper has been denied by Gov. Schwarzenegger. The execution can still be halted. The State of California plans to execute Kevin Cooper on February 10, 2004. Thousands of Californians are appealing to Gov. Schwarzenegger to grant a stay and stop the execution on Tuesday, February 3 with a Statewide Day of Protest in a half-dozen cities (for details at bottom) Sites for protests include Schwarzeneggers home parish in Santa Monica. Also on Tuesday, February 3, the New York Times (Western Edition) and the San Jose Mercury News will carry a full-page ad by those opposed to Coopers execution. The LA Times reported 1/31: Cooper's defense attorneys already have filed an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, and said they will aggressively pursue a stay of execution so a judge can review their allegations of police misconduct and evidence-tampering. They noted that six members of the jury that convicted Cooper also have raised concerns and support delaying the execution. KEVIN COOPER: A CASE FULL OF HOLES A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Vets against Bush . . . Just have to tell you........ A neighbor of mine, a vet from the Vietnam era just stopped me as I drove past his house to ask if he had to re-register as a Democrat after all these years of voting as a Republican. He wants bush out...........I guess being AWOL doesn't set too well with the vets. God Bless them all. Paula Subj: Montana Republicans are having their pork and eating it too Givers and Takers. Giver states get back less than a dollar in spending for every dollar they contribute to federal coffers. Taker states pocket more than a dollar for every tax dollar they send to Washington. Thirty-three states are Takers; 16 are Givers. Republicans are having their pork and eating it too. Voters in red states like Idaho, Montana and Wyoming are some of the country's fiercest critics of government, yet they're also among the biggest recipients of federal largess. Meanwhile, Democratic voters in the coastal blue states —the ones who are often portrayed as shiftless moochers —are left to carry the load. Jackie
Subj: More pro-conservative media bias Check out this line from today's Novak op ed in the Wash Post (an op ed that, so far, you can't find on the Post Web site):
Now, why is it ok for Novak and a "prominent Bush supporter" to talk about Bush's AWOL status (or whatever you want to call it), but Stephanopoulos reams Terry McAuliffe yesterday over this same issue, and Peter Jennings reams Wesley Clark over the issue, saying that it's unfair for Democrats to question Bush's military record? Apparently only conservative columnists and prominent Bush supporters are allowed to question Bush's military record. John Subj: MoveOn Ad and the Super Bowl I don't watch sports on TV, but I had planned to watch if the MoveOn ad played during the Super Bowl halftime show. However, consider what DID "show" during the segment, it may have been best that MoveOn wasn't associated with it. Mike Curtis Greenbrier Ark Subj: WORDS OF MASS DECEPTION (AS USUAL) Dear BuzzFlash Isn't George Bush appointing a commission to investigate why he misled the nation with false information regarding WMD's in Iraq, like O.J. Simpson trying to find Nicole's killer? It will obviously go nowhere. He is going to appoint the officials himself (supposed to be bi-partisan, ha!), and you can bet folks that this so called investigation will be stalled (Big time) and will be completed only after the elections. As for the timing of these latest terror threats and recent flights being cancelled, I may be wrong, but it sure is funny that this came up conveniently at the time that WMD's were not found in Iraq. It's time the Bush administration stopped insulting our intelligence and duping our nation? What a totally dishonest bunch. A BuzzFlash Reader P.S. Halliburton is at it again. The Pentagon is investigating why millions of dollars were overcharged for meals supplied to the troops. They are bilking this country, and we have the biggest deficit in our history. We have crooks in the white house and it is time they are held accountable, and kicked out. Subj: Gas, erections and a boob Dear Buzz, CBS refused to air Moveon.org's 30 second spot during the Super Bowl. Yet they DID air a commercial about a gassy horse and at least a half dozen ads from a new hard-on drug for men. In fact, during one of these ads, the voice over warned potential users that "...while rare, erections lasting over 4 hours require immediate medical attention..." Viacom-owned CBS also allowed MTV (also owned by Viacom) to produce a halftime show in which every song preformed was about sex and ended in a display of full frontal nudity. Yet the moveon ad was deemed inappropriate. Conclusions: 1)Farts are funny, 2)getting it up for your younger trophy wife is a matter of life and death, 3) if there's no sex, people will change the channel and 4)liberal politics on national TV are offensive. Eric Subj: A Deserter or Not? LET'S SETTLE THE MATTER OF BUSH'S MILITARY SERVICE As all BuzzFlash readers know, anyone interested, and even journalists, may decide for themselves whether the currently available evidence supports the claim that George Bush was a deserter. Documents obtained through the FOIA that show Lt. Bush was unavailable for annual review, refused to take his flight physical and was grounded, and signed a reprimand acknowledging his poor attendance, are readily available on the Internet for review. So is the famous nameless, dateless Xerox, the only known document purporting to show that Bush did any guard service in the disputed year(s). If the scrupulously fair-minded find these documents inconclusive, the question of Bush's service, or lack of it, can be readily, and finally, settled by other means. If George Bush cannot remember a single person who might recall a single day he spent doing a single ANG activity during the period in question, then let the press find that person. But if the press won't do its job, we shouldn't feel stymied. To locate ANG members posted where Bush claims to have done service after 5/72 (with the 187th Tac Recon Group in Alabama and the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in Texas) should not be difficult. With the help of a few of them it ought to be possible to compile a sufficiently complete roster of those whose service overlaps that of Lt. Bush to enable a credible search for an eyewitness to any ANG duty performed by Bush from May '72 on. National Guard service is not a solitary activity. George Bush cannot have performed the service he claims without the participation of fellow service members. Let them come forward. If no eyewitness can be found, Bush himself can still settle the issue. No one goes through a one-to-two year period of military service without generating lots and lots of paperwork. So far, none that has been made public supports Bush's claim that he met his obligations. He, of course, both as the serviceman in question and as President of the United States, has unprecedented access to any and all relevant documents. Let him produce any that support his claim of service in the disputed years and put this matter to rest. But if no documents obtained by others support Bush's position, if no witnesses support his position, and if Bush himself cannot or will not produce any service records to support his position, then let's feel fully justified in concluding this: All available credible evidence supports the claim that Lt. George W. Bush was AWOL from one or more of his Air National Guard postings, and, because his unlawful absence extended beyond thirty-one days, that George Walker Bush was and is a military deserter. Albert Clark, NY February 2, 2004 An open letter to Laura Bush and the Today Show, I suppose heart disease in women is a worthy focus for Mrs. Bush, but it was her last statement that really hit home to me. She was asked if the twins will be on the campaign trail and responded that this will be the first time they are old enough because they will be graduating from college. They were old enough to vote for their father in 2000, but they aren't old enough to campaign? I have faced down 5 year olds with signs saying, "God hates fags" or "You are going to hell for voting democrat" or "If you are pro-choice you are murderer." I march in the MLK parade in OKC and their was a woman using children under 10 to hold signs declaring "Gays are going to hell." But, the Bush girls, daughters of God's chosen one can't be bothered with the troubles of the rest of us. They were both old enough to use fake IDs and Laura blew it off as being like all the other kids their age. That would be all the kids who don't have to make good grades to get scholarships or the ones who have to work fast food to pay for their college. Or the ones who made the mistake of believing the ads for the Guard in order to pay for their college, if they live to go to college. It isn't like they are going to become patriotic enough to sign up for a couple years in Iraq. The "What me Worry" Bush girls are completely oblivious to the fact that of the 519 killed in Iraq, 317 are under 30. The twins turned 22 on November 25, 2003 and 193 kids, 22 and under, who, like the twins would prefer not to have become involved in political matters until they finished college are now too dead to go to college thanks to a pre-emptive war waged by their father on false pretenses. Their father said nothing kept him from having a good time during his carefree high school and college days. Oh to be a Bush and not have to worry about money for college or anything else. I worried everyday when I saw how many were dying in Vietnam and in the Civil Rights protests of 63-64 when George and I were seniors in high school. How many Phillips Academy grads were in Vietnam, anyone know? Their dad brags about becoming socially conscience enough to work a few months in an inner city youth center in Houston when he was 26 or 27, he doesn't exactly remember. By the way, he didn't work in any centers before or after that time. I appreciate the Bushes protecting their children from the world they will never have to deal with, unless they campaign for office. The Bush girls have to get their fun in now because after college they have to work by putting their names or their spouses names on as many boards of directors as possible. It's hard labor, but someone has to raise money for all those foundations. I think Mrs. Bush's time would be better spent trying to shorten the 6 month waiting period for veterans to see a primary care physician or maybe shorten the time the injured from Iraq have to spend waiting for surgery. Or maybe she could rush that trickle down thing and get some of the Bush contributors to create jobs here that pay more than minimum wage. Or you could see if George could raise the minimum wage. When I think of the Bush girls, and their parents, the word shallow comes to mind, but they make wading pools look like the Mariana Trench. Please girls wait until after college to start bankrupting, junk bond selling and cozying up to Saudis. Is the Patriot's quarterback married? With all the time at the White House you'd think they are trying to interest him in one of their girls. He is a millionaire and certainly not going to die in Iraq so he is fair game. Speaking of games, "How about that super bowl I didn't watch?" They wouldn't do the move-on ad, but the one where the dog bites the guy's crotch in order to get his owner a beer got the most votes. That is deep and socially consciousness if I ever saw it. Karen Webb Subj: WMD Coverup Thanks for linking the Mother Jones article reminding us of the "Special" Pentagon intelligence unit. The shape of the WMD coverup appears clear now: blame the CIA. David Kay will be leading the charge in that direction, while the mainstream media quietly consigns the Rumsfeld/Cheney/Wolfowitz intelligence-cooking kitchen at the Pentagon to the memory hole. It should bear repeating as often and as loudly as possible: the CIA did not make the case for WMD in Iraq. It was precisely because the CIA analysts would not produce the desired results that the stovepipe unit for the Chalabi-created crap had to be created. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: impeachment no - election yes Hi BuzzFlash - Keep up the great work - you d best! I heard Kucinich today say that impeachment is not the way to go right now, it would just incur sympathy for the prez. Better let's just run him outta town on a rail in Nov. Let ALL our combined efforts go toward exposing GWB for what he is to the masses whose votes matter. Then let's get out the vote, even if we have to babysit and drive people to the polls in Nov. Let's do it! Judy Dennis Kucinich is ELECTABLE! To see why, go to http://www.kucinich.us Subj: Poetic Justice in the Form of Janet Jackson's Right Breast Even after 400,000 American citizen's contacted CBS and cried foul to their censorship of the moveon.org ad, and 28 members of the House of Representatives wrote a letter condemning the decision, and groups like the National Organization for Women and the American Civil Liberties Union spoke out against it, and several major newspapers around the country ran editorials denouncing the network's stand, CBS stubbornly stood by its ridiculous reasoning and chose not to run the ad. Well, as most of us witnessed on Sunday during the half-time show, sometimes the Karmic wheel turns mighty fast indeed. All I have to say to CBS is three words: JANET'S RIGHT BREAST. Sincerely- Joel Ancowitz Subj: Tora Bora Read you energetic editorial of February 2, 2004 with amusement. How does Bush get away with it?! Because even alternative sources of news, like BuzzFlash, don't go for the juggler when it's exposed! Tora Bora, dummies! Bush had the Air force bomb three sides and leave the back-door corridor to Pakistan unscathed. Fact! Why? Because an end to Usama bin Ladin would have been an end to the "War on Terror," so-called. It's about oil for Halliburton and its cronies, of course. Never mind the blood on our hands and the shame on our faces. Pitiful. If you really want Bush impeached and imprisoned, start screaming about Tora Bora; and don't let up about it until the mainstream press is obliged to acknowledge the groundswell. Congress is always happy to feed the sharks if its own toes are in danger of getting wet. Bob

Mick Subj: The ill effects of having a Nazi regime. Mr Bush, The appointed President by the Radical Right Wing Supreme Court, even though you were a deserter and AWOL, Had nothing else to think about but Iraq, and getting to them. You have torn apart our Constitution and Bill of Rights. You tried but failed to make a Cemetery of Iraq. Our young people Fighting are Backed by all American,S! Let me tell you a bit about myself. In 1949, I took the oath to protect our rights and Constitution. I did that very well, Fighting The Korean war from start to finish, Then spending 20 years on Submarines. You know what the Submarines did on their own. You should. Because your Daddy sent us to those places when he was head of the CIA. We never received medals as it would show we were on special ops. George, you do not know how long and dangerous those. When you left Yale in "68", There was not a military base you wanted to be near. After you were appointed to that position. It still amazing to me that Americans do not drag your yellow ass out of there and try you for TREASON!!!!!! Jerry
B. Falls Subj: Investigations...Janet Jackson...but no Valerie Plame, no Anthrax deaths??? Does anyone out there think it odd, that Michael Powell was all over television yesterday ranting, threatening an investigation into the "Jackson/Justin" showing of a boob, with a pasty?...at the Super Bowl half time show???? I didn't even see it, but might as well have...I heard nothing but, all day long! Now, there are six people dead from anthrax....no delving at all!! Mostly left wingers, too, no great loss to this administration!!! The outing of CIA agent, Valerie Plame...Joseph Wilson's Wife....and no investigation? It is hard to understand how any administration can get away with this stupidity...oh, yeah, this is the Bush administration. It was Bill Clinton whom they spent 90 mil. on investigations that brought to light.....NOTHING!!!!!! Is there any justification at all? Shirley...........St.Louis Subj: Finally, an Investigation! Wow! With breathtaking speed Chairman Powell of the FCC nearly killed himself getting before the microphones to promise an immediate investigation of the baring of Janet Jackson's breast during Super Bowl half-time ceremonies. You can bet that punishment will be swift and very severe. This from an administration that is being dragged kicking and screaming to an investigation of 9/11. An administration that just refuses to allow anyone to investigate the meetings of the Cheney energy group. An administration that still hasn't produced the culprit or culprits in the illegal outing of a CIA agent for political purposes. An administration who grudgingly acceded to the idea of an independent investigation of the intelligence failure on weapons of mass destruction. Man, it took these guys to get into the swing of things, but they are in gear now. IMMEDIATE investigation. Swift and severe. Could the death penalty be involved? Who knows? For the record, I am 56 years old, I volunteered for the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, I vote Democratic and I think that she has a lovely breast. I don't know about George Bush. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: We are the boobs We are denied seeing the body bags and morbidly wounded. We are denied seeing the notes from the Intelligence briefings BEFORE 9-11. We are denied seeing the Cheney Task Force meeting memos. We are denied the record of which Congress members voted for or against laws that have changed America profoundly. We are denied the full facts about how Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld KNEW 9-11 was coming. But the Federal Government jumps IMMEDIATELY to investigate a tit, because its- OBSCENE. The hell with these people, and all of the people who are aiding and abetting the ingestion of all this soporific camouflage that is keeping us from discussing the REAL SHIT. We have sent our brothers and fathers and sisters to KILL and BE KILLED in the name of profit and greed. Half of us are without health insurance. 1/4 of us are under the poverty line. 1/3 of us have someone we know involved with PRISON. The Ice is melting, and the air is filthy, and the weather is broken, and your burgers are poisoned. And our Government is looking up everyone's asshole, and into our bank records and library accounts. And the Federal Government is spending time on this crap ? If you spend a minute on it, that makes you an accessory. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
David Rubinson Subj: Dr. Dean Dear BuzzFlash: I realize John Kerry is leading in the polls but I vote for Dr. Dean and I will tell you why. Dr. Dean saw through the lies that Bush was telling about invading Iraq and starting a war? Why did John Kerry did not see those lies and why is he, along with all the other 535 members of Congress who voted to go to war are not held accountable along with Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, and others? Who will be held accountable? George Tenet? Howard Dean hasn't had any young men and women killed with his vote? Arlene
Carlson "Ricin Incident" Dear Buzz: Maybe I am old, tired and paranoid, but doesn’t it look like “ricin terrorist”is actually the same dude as the “anthrax terrorist”? To me, it looks like the Repugs delivered the ricin to themselves, to divert people’s attention from what REALLY is going on. Now the nation is supposed to feel sorry for the poor Repuglicans, and give our moronic unleader all the votes he needs to win in the next election. Yeah, right. Keep up the good work; you’re my source of true information. Ms. Stringer Subj: Staged Ricin Scare Anybody who's really interested in the finding info on the deadly poison ricin, can easily find data on it through web searches and various publications past and present. It is featured in the much touted "Terrorist Handbook" said to be published by Al Quida and in various American right wing publications such as those published by Paladin Press, and the warped, if not informative, Series "The Poor Man's James Bond". Ricin is a very lethal poison, when used appropriately, and it is reasonably simple to come by the ingredient, castor beans, and to manufacture in any kitchen. Anybody, who has gone to the trouble, to learn how to manufacture ricin, would also know that mailing the powder around anonymously is not an effective way to poison their victims, even if random contamination was the goal. Lots of ricin would have to be inhaled to cause death, but very little is required if injected in some way, mixed with explosives, or placed on bullets etc.. I don't believe for a minute that terrorists, or psychotic criminals, are to blame for the recent ricin mailings to the Senate Office Buildings in D.C. Unless, of course one considers the sorts of "intelligence" operatives who would mail anthrax, and ricin in staged events to garner public fear. The motive for these mailings, I suspect, is and was to further the panic initially caused by 911, and to bolster support for Bush's irrational policies. American's should never forget, that the Anthrax spores mailed around immediately after 911, were manufactured in America, at U.S. military biological weapons research and production centers. I'm fairly sure the ricin would come from similar sources. As Bush's approval ratings continue to plummet, the White House, and corporate media, must be desperate to change the subject and once again rally public support based on fear. The Anthrax scare helped seal the fate of many American's freedom, by reinforcing the panic and anger, leading to popular support of the now infamous Patriot Act. This new ricin scare, will distract many people's attention from following the Democratic primaries. Along with Janet Jackson's entertainment blunder at the Super Bowl, we should expect to hear quite a few other irrelevant types of news stories. The corporate media, stands as much to loose as the Bush Bluebloods do, when Bush is booted out of an office he didn't win in the first place. Sincerely, J.P.R.
