Subj: Election Technology Council "Protects" Your Vote This article seems to represent the first salvo from the big DRE manufacturers. The gist of the story is that there are concerns about evoting but the Election Technology Council has it all under control. Boy, I feel a lot better now. Or maybe we should just... Subj: FAA Warned of Violent Suspects Travel Two Weeks Before 9/11 http://archives.californiaaviation.org/airport/msg17563.html This is basically a shortened translation of an article that appeared in Cambio, a Mexican magazine. The Spanish full version can be found here: http://www.revistacambio.com/web/interior.php?idp=49&ids=4&ida=2077 The basic thrust is that Michael Canavan, head of FAA security, sent urgent memos to a number of airports warning of terrorists attempting to board passenger airliners. Again BEFORE 9/11! We never heard about this in the U.S. and Major Canavan resigned shortly after 9/11. There was another article that week in El Deber, a Bolivian newspaper, about 6 Pakistani suspects, one of whom had been identified by the U.S. as the brother of a known terrorist, who were expelled from Bolivia and " stopped in Miami where they attacked a North American federal agent". Pretty strong description, "attacked". The 6 suspects are the SAME NAMES as those in the FAA memo published in Cambio Magazine. A similar article in the Miami Herald back in the days BEFORE 9/11, discussed an incident that occurred in Miami on August 24, 2001, which seemed to be describing the same incident -- a plane with deportees aboard bound for Pakistan, was forced to turn around and return to Miami after some sort of fight broke out. Alas, all but the Cambio link (above) have disappeared from the Internet. Perhaps some intrepid researcher in Miami can go through the August 2001 back issues and find this. I wrote a letter about this back in the fall of 2001. I still find it incredible that there was this level of alarm about terrorists and airplanes in the weeks immediately BEFORE 9/11, and yet no one in the administration, according to Ms. Rice, could possibly have imagined 9/11. Regards, BC Subj: When did we land in a Buffalo Springfield song?
and so on ....... I am frightened and I am appalled. Confused, too, come to think of it. As a forty year old woman, I wasn't really aware of Vietnam much as it was going on, nor did I pay much attention to the mess with Nixon. But in the last couple of years I have made it my business to look back and learn. That's something our administration desperately needs to do and frankly we desperately need them to do. Or we need them to leave. I will start with what is frightening me. We are moving rapidly into an Orwellian form of fascist government with the rabid dog, John Ashcroft, leading the pack. The pack is keeping up very well though. Today, I read once again, that the secret service is making sure that protesters are far away from Mr. Bush whenever his handlers allow him out to mangle English in front of the common folk. Now, not surprisingly, they are calling protesters terrorist sympathizers or, even worse, actually terrorists. Soon, Ashcroft will be finding more direct ways of silencing dissent. He'll come into our homes, without our knowledge and look at our computers and our books, magazines, talk to our neighbors. Geez, when does this stop! I am appalled about more than I care to write here. It is hard to believe just how far this once great country has gone down the path of fascism, corporate greed, government corruption and many other slithery things. It's happened so quickly. I long for the days of interns and blue stained dresses. Now, about the confusion. Remember I mentioned that I went back and learned about Nixon. There have been at least ten different things done by this administration that are at least as criminally malfeasant as what Nixon and his administration were involved in. Why no whisper of impeachment? Why no actual impeachment? Have we fallen so far down the rabbit hole that up looks like down and down, up?
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Apparently, in usual American form, we the people have not done our homework. Teresa Avalon Subj: An Open Letter to CNN: Stop Your Propaganda Campaign Against Democrats Jim Walton, CNN News Group President Eason Jordan, Executive Vice President and Chief News Executive On behalf of the 250,000 readers of Democrats.com News, I am writing to find out why CNN refuses to report the results of YOUR OWN latest CNN/Time poll, which shows Bush's lead over Howard Dean dropping to only 5% (51%- 46%), down from 12% in November. Since this poll has a margin of error of +/- 4%, Dean is nearly tied with Bush. Suppose the 2004 election for president were being held today and you had to choose between Howard Dean the Democrat, and George W. Bush, the Republican. For whom would you vote?
CNN/Time Poll conducted by Harris Interactive. Dec. 30, 2003-Jan. 1, 2004. N=604 likely voters nationwide. MoE +/- 4. The obvious headline should be: "Howard Dean is Nearly Tied with Bush." Time included this poll in this week's magazine http://i.timeinc.net/time/covers/1101040112/poll/images/poll_1.gif but it does not appear on CNN's web site, and it was not highlighted in any political reporting over the weekend. We have no doubts why CNN did not report its own remarkable poll: because reporting this clear and simple fact would incur the wrath of Karl Rove, who wants you to convince the American people that Howard Dean is " unelectable" - in direct contradiction to the truth. The fact that you refuse to report the results of your OWN poll confirms what all Democrats know - that CNN is just one more propaganda arm of the Republican Party, barely distinguishable from FOX News. If you believe this criticism is unjust, we would welcome a meeting with your political editors to discuss your thoroughly biased coverage of the Democratic Party. Sincerely, Bob Fertik,

Nate It is a sad America, from Democracy to Dictatorship in three years. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: to the media re: msnbc's question bush and his administration send us into a war that was not necessary, claimed they had wmd, they answer to no one. Limbaugh was popping 800 pills a day, bush says he is a good man. kobe bryant says it was consensual. then msnbc wants us to vote on their question is Brittany out of control because a 22 yr old on a lark got married..............what is the long distance rate to mars? shorty Subj: another whistleblower punished in the war on terror First they came for the gay Arabic-linguists... Then they came for the Canadian ABC News correspondent... Then they came for the wife of the US ambassador... Then they came for the Park Police head who admitted she didn't have the staffing to protect our national monuments... And by the time they came for me, our sclerotic Democratic Party leadership was so busy missing golden opportunities that the nation re-elected George Bush for 4 more years of the same bs. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sent to Matt Drudge: Subj: I'm confused So Matt let me get this straight. The RNC and apparently you also are outraged that moveon.org has 2 out of many ads on their web site done by the public that compare Bush to Hitler. I don't seem to remember you guys getting your panties all in a bunch 2 years ago when the Republicans were running ads actually on TV morphing Dems into Saddam and Osama. Where was the outrage when war hero Max Cleland's patriotism was being impugned on behalf of Saxby Chambliss? Oh the Hypocrisy. Keep up the good work for your right wing reich. Goebbels would be proud. thank you, stevie gardiner PS-why no link to the latest Cnn/Time poll that has Dean only 5 points behind Bush 51-46? here's the link: http://www.pollingreport.com/wh04gen.htm Subj: Clark to Rove - you don't have to read my lips

A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: July date for authority handover Buzz, A thought has occurred to me which I haven't seen mentioned anywhere. Everyone with a brain knows that a real July 1st handover or authority in Iraq isn't realistic in any meaningful way. Could it be that the July 1st date given for the handover of Iraq governance has a hidden reason-namely so that the Bush administration can set up a July 4th photo-op with some silly, repeating backdrop and that we're not only celebrating our independence but also "Iraq Independence Day"? Yes, the republican rule (certainly not governance) over the past three years has made me very cynical (and I believe that I have every right to be), but is it being too cynical to believe that they have planned to turn OUR Independence Day celebration into some kind of cheap campaign trick? A BuzzFlash Reader [BuzzFlash Note: One other possibility is that the 2004 Democratic National Convention is July 26-29. What better way to take the wind out of the convention coverage, and the anticipated anti-Bush, pro-democrat rhetoric, than to have the major networks talking about -- regardless of it's a fact -- democracy in Iraq.] Subj: NY Post editorial compares Dean supporters to Nazi's NY Post editorial compares Dean supporters to Nazi's -- Where's the outrage? Will you post a link? If its wrong for Moveon.org isn't it wrong for the Post to publish this? Select quotes: "I can predict with certainty that Dean's Internet Gestapo will pounce on this column..." "These are the techniques employed by Hitler's Brownshirts. Had Goebbels enjoyed access to the internet, he would have used the same swarm tactics as Dean's Flannelshirts." "Dean was already practicing the Big Lie. Montreal was just a stop on his journey from Munich to Berlin. He was already looking around for his Leni Riefenstahl." link: http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/4965.htm thank you, stevie gardiner Subj: US troops KIA I was reading at electroniciraq.net that there appears to be discrepancies between reported US troop deaths and what Iraqi's claim they saw. And this made me wonder why I've never heard of a soldier that was initially reported as wounded, eventually dying say after a day or a week. It's always just reported that they were ambushed and "one dead, two injured." Do they all recover? Un-fucking-likely. Dave Send our troops care packages: www.AnySoldier.us David Subj: And what about the death penalty? Buzz,
-- and executions by crucifixion? PWM Subj: Bush and Hitler It's laughable for the right to chastise MoveOn.org for the ads likening Bush to Hitler. Where was the outrage when Cleland was morphed into a terrorist? Dale Subj: Lieberman bashing Dean FOXNews this morning had Lieberman on, again talking about the safer with Saddam in custody stuff. What is wrong with Lieberman? He's bashing Dean on FAUX & he's got to know full well that IF HE GOT THE NOMINATION, THEY'D BE BASHING HIM! Does he really think that if he plays nice with them he'll get their endorsement, over Bush??????? George
Farago Subj: You print a lot of letters for Dean, but Kucinich makes Dean look pale as a Democrat What puts people over the edge to solidify their support for Dean? Is it because they support the death penalty? Is it because they yearn to pay more money into a private health insurance corporate handout that'll leave 10 million Americans uninsured? Is it because they can't find it in their heart to hold the Pentagon accountable to the taxpayers? Is it because they think having a "west bank" full of suicide bombers worked out so well for Israel we need one of our own, so we should stay in Iraq for years? Is it because they think a candidate with a record of beating ZERO incumbent Republicans might finally pull one off? All those positions are great, they're just not particularly Democratic positions. But all these things get shrugged off by the people who want to play "you're either with us or against us" for the nomination/coronation of Dean. And maybe Dean'd be fine, if we didn't have a candidate who: 1. Is against the death penalty. 2. Will end Halliburton sweetheart deals and get the UN in and the US out of Iraq. 3. Knows that NAFTA screwed us all and the WTO bans fixing it so will get us out of both. 4. Knows we're already paying for universal health coverage but not getting so will implement single-payer to fix it once and for all. 5. Has beaten three incumbent Republicans already, including taking a seat away during the Gingrich revolution when seats were going the other way. That candidate is Dennis Kucinich. You might remember him, he came in second or third on your own poll, yet you never mention him. He's got the best plans of any candidate to heal the illness the BFEE brought down on us. Do yourself and everybody else a favor and check him out. Dan Brown Subj: Pakistan, our "allies" and WMD

I made a video recording of their testimony. What are we doing with our kids for our $400,000,000,000 ! Juls Subj: At least its not comparing Dean to Hitler http://michnews.com/artman/publish/article_2210.shtml I know that if you linked to every ridiculous independent right wing media story ever written, we'd be up to our ears ten thousand times in pure BS, but this one really managed to take the cake for total vitriolic incoherence. It is almost a parody of the right wing media, because not only does it suggest that Dean will command his followers to commit suicide attacks against the country should he not win election, it also suggests that Osama Bin Laden didn't fly a plane into Vermont based on the legality of civil unions, which Osama apparently supports because it helps destroy America. There is also a paragraph I enjoy that links Dean with the editorial board of the New York Times and implies that they were behind OJ Simpson's acquittal and would seek to do the same for Osama Bin Laden. Highlights:
I am sure Ed Gillespie is already writing his condemnation for this article, and sending it for publication in the Washington Post. Eryk Subj: Pray for our soldiers to come home My neighbor's boyfriend recently returned from Iraq. He visited me a couple of days ago and had lost so much weight that I didn't recognize him right away. He was of average weight when he left, now he's quite thin.....and very bitter! Talking to this young man makes you weep for all of the troops. He is distressed at what is taking place and feels that the public doesn't know the truth and doesn't care to know. While there, he says the average temperature was 145 degrees, food and water were barely fit for consumption, and one of his buddies committed suicide while on guard duty outside of their tent (he had been denied leave to attend to his sick mother and again refused leave to go to the funeral after she died). This once jovial guy, despises the Bush administration and is upset at what will happen if Bush is re-elected! We couldn't talk for very long because the young fellow began to weep while reminiscing over his time in Iraq. I wrote to a local columnist (one whose articles are often printed in BuzzFlash) about this young man and suggested that more -knowledgeable- columnists interview and reveal the true feelings of these young service men and women. It will be difficult because we know what happened when a few of them spoke out right after the Iraq invasion. Let's pray for these service men and women who are being USED by our government to do Cheney/Halliburton/Wolfowitz/Karl Rove's dirty work. ( I intentionally left off Dubya's name because he is just a puppet. They have him thinking that God is using him, when we all know whose bidding they are doing ). D. Turner Subj: "We Live in Fictitious Times"-Michael Moore said so, I believe so. Hi Buzz, Strange fictitious goings on seem to pass for honest and real. There is a painting by Rene Magritte, on the canvas is a pipe and written words " Ceci, N'est Pas Une Pipe"---("This is Not a Pipe"), much has been written about this artwork. Much has also been written on the words of gwb which in two items are coupled together in a way to deceive the listener /reader and thus leave the impression that the two are linked. Saddam and 911 linked thus invasion was justified. Can you not just see gwb and Rove having side by side smirks? Fictitious and brazen lies to some. What brings this to mind is a recent Opinion page cartoon (Sunday 01/04/04-Ventura Star) by G. Markstein. Depicted is Gadhafi carrying what looks like three bombs to a trash bin, in which what appears to be three bombs already dumped, on one carried bomb are the words "Weapons Program". Recall in the recent Diane Sawyer interview gwb responded to a question of actual WMD and thoughts if WMD--his answer "What's the difference?" I thought gwb lost his trousers on that one. Rove must have thought so too. Thus, the quick fixit. Couple the two items and they become one and the same. A bomb is a bomb, words of Weapons Program on a bomb and it becomes a bomb--the distinction is blurred. Just the start, there are going to be concentrated efforts to continue to blur the difference. Why not just get the kid a belt, Karl? We live in fictitious times which border on becoming surreal times. The question is, how does Karl get these folks to create the lies so quick?
