Subj: To the victors belong the spoils Dear Buzz: BuzzFlash reader Arne asked in Monday's BuzzFlash Mailbag (Dec. 22) "Someone ought to find out who's in Morrell Consulting." Here are the principals: LINK: http://www.morrellconsulting.us/bios.htm Their website lists a conference to be given in Salt Lake City in January 2004 on "How to Capitalize on the Reconstruction of Iraq". One of the speakers at the conference--Richard Robison, President of the Mideast Forum Inc.--worked for the CIA during the Iran-Iraq war. LINK: Mideastforum.net In his book, THE MIDDLE EAST WAR PROCESS: The Truth Behind America's Middle East Challenge: A Book of Answers, he states: "The three great global power centers—The European Union, The Peoples’Republic of China, and the United States—all rely on the oil resources of the Persian Gulf. With a powerful move into Iraq by the Americans, the strategic marginalization of Europe, and Saudi Arabia, will continue on schedule. Given strong regional military dominance lucrative markets—the spoils—are naturally more easily captured. Global economic success, more so hegemony, is the heart of national security. These primal issues driving American Middle East policy are, by design, veiled. Not that President Bush and his team of specialists are executing the sinister and nefarious. On the contrary, they are not only exceedingly skilled, they are acting in America’s best interest, and more generally, the world as well." LINK: Mideastforum.net One of the meanings of hegemony is "aggression or expansionism by large nations in an effort to achieve world domination." Another BuzzFlash Reader Subj: BuzzFlash Two Years Ago December 18, 2003 is a great time -- while you are calling readers' attention to the fact that Joe Lieberman is actually a Republican -- to revisit a BuzzFlash link from 12/18/01. The article you linked to two years ago today, "Lynne Cheney-Joe Lieberman Group Puts Out a Blacklist" (Roberto J. Gonzalez, San Jose Mercury News), should be required reading for any Democrat who would even consider voting for Lieberman. Here's a working link to the article. http://www.commondreams.org/views01/1213-05.htm Here are links to ACTA's newsletter and report that followed 9/11. http://www.goacta.org/publications/newsletters/acta_2001_fall.pdf http://www.goacta.org/publications/Reports/defciv.pdf. Here's
proof that this isn't a dirty rumor about Lieberman. Here's
an excellent response to the ACTA's charges from the Democratic Underground. And another
article from Common Dreams. It is no mystery to me why Gore did not endorse Lieberman and why he didn't feel he owed him advance notice that he was endorsing Dean. Thanks for all the important work you are doing. Libby Hicks Subj: Neocon Bombshell in NY Times ...Conrad Black & the Neocon Hollinger honey -
David Subj: Warning Does anybody besides me find it unusual that the increased alert was not mentioned until after the Sunday morning talk shows were aired. Could it be just a coincidence that the warning which proved that Governor Dean was correct about Saddam was delayed until after the various guests had a chance to bash Dean? Tom Subj: Halliburton memo I don't know if authentic...but bet it is. Tone is exactly as was in the full page Halliburton ad in the San Francisco Chronicle...over the weekend. It made me want to hurl my cappuccino. What else are they going to say/do. While racking in billions (including at Brown & Root) to steal Iraq oil for Cheney......The ads will have the opposite effects with Demos than is their intent -- they are warprofiteers plain and simple. Take care, Suzanne SF I'm getting desperate! I have supported two different candidates to oppose Bush/Cheney (Dean & Clark). Since I am actually for candidate "ABB" (Anybody But Bush), I need to know who stands the best chance of defeating him. If anybody has substantial ideas of who can best do this, I need to know about it. I don't really care who it is (with the exception of Lieberman). With Bush in power another four years, the USA is DOOMED!! D. Turner Subj: Make a Comparison Buzz, Here's another idea from my wish list for someone who has the time and know-how. How about a comprehensive chart comparing Republican and Democrat Administrations over the past ...say 50 to 60 years. List all the accomplishments and failures being honest and fair to both sides, that is, call it like it was. List how the economies were, if there was War, how the Stock Market reacted, employment figures, legal actions against it's members, bad decisions, polices that helped the public, cronyism, THE WORKS!! Might be real interesting to compare the two sides and get a real overview of just who did what. This could also be great for someone to pick up and use during the election. Somehow I think I know what the results will look like. Buzzers are the BEST!! Phil Rowland Re: 9/11 and the death of Payne Stewart Hi Buzz, I think it's time that we take a look back at the death of golf pro Payne Stewart in 1999. According to information on the NTSB site, air traffic controllers lost communication with the lear jet he was traveling on at 9:44 a.m. (EDT). At 9:52 CDT (10:52 EDT) An USAF jet was within 8 nm (nautical miles) of Stewart's plane. So the air force was able to catch up with a wayward plane, traveling across the country, flight path unknown, within 1 hour and 8 minutes. It would seem to me that with at least 4 wayward passenger jets, KNOWN to be hijacked, The USAF would've been scrambling jets left and right. For more info go here: http://www.airsafe.com/stewart.htm So the question isn't "why didn't our government do anything to prevent 9/11?" The real question should be exactly how much work went into preventing the USAF from doing anything on 9/11? As always I'm......just asking. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: "Massive Redeployment" Dear BuzzFlash Folks, There's been much talk in the media lately of a "massive redeployment" of US forces in Iraq scheduled for the next few weeks. As I heard it described on one of the Sunday talk shows, this operation will involve 230,000+ troops. New units will be sent over, but units currently in theater will be kept there until their replacements are "ready". My between-the-lines reading of this maneuver suggests not a massive redeployment, but a MASSIVE INCREASE OF FORCES. Our media capons will only describe this sham in the terms approved by their masters, but my bullshit detector was calibrated during the Vietnam Era... It's very sensitive... During the first year of a second Bush term you can bank on a reintroduction of the draft. There's no way the Pentagon can sustain a 250,000 troop deployment with current force levels, and reenlistments are down. In Solidarity, Chuck Van
Wey Subj: Kucinich for Peace Dear Friends at BuzzFlash: Thank you for your efforts toward keeping the public informed about the disaster which is George W. Bush. I appreciate the opportunity to join your efforts in getting Bush out of the White House. Another important way to assure the defeat of Bush in 2004 is to support the candidacy of Dennis Kucinich. Dennis offers the clearest contrast to Bush, so he is the best candidate to beat Bush and lead our country toward a more sane, just, peaceful, compassionate, sustainable future. Please see below for more information about the best candidate to lead and serve our country. Thank you again, Joyce Stenberg (Kucinich campaign volunteer) * * *
Subj: "Countdown" covers Kurd capture Keith Oberman on MSNBC showed Cronkite-ian integrity tonight and did the first major American media story on the reputed Kurd capture of Saddam Hussein! A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Limbaugh the Drug Lord!! Limbaugh contends that he has done nothing wrong, and that he hasn't been doctor shopping. So let me ask all BuzzFlashers, "How many of you buy your legally prescribed drugs from more than one pharmacy?" Bear in mind, Limbaugh now says that his maid was "blackmailing" him, but the tapes of their clandestine meetings indicate he was asking for her to supply him with more drugs. So I guess you might say that Rushbo just wanted to continue to give the maid an opportunity to "have the opportunity" to blackmail him. And I thought all this time he bragged about how smart he was. Geez! And to think it was I thinking that only the "Ditto Heads" were the stupid ones in this misguided "lovefest." But back to my original question about legally prescribed drugs! How many think that Ol' Rushbo, the Righteous One, was getting "all" his prescriptions filled at the same pharmacy as I would guess 99.9% of the rest of us do? Would anyone dare to say that he was trying to cover up his illegal activity if he was not only doctor shopping, but also drug store shopping? Ol' Rushbo, the newest version of the DrugStore Cowboy. The cowboy that is all hat and he rides from drug store to drug store with his DittoHeads in tow! Cary Subj: Thank you BuzzFlash Good morning BuzzFlash, Just a note to thank you for persevering and hanging in there. Everyone else seems to have taken a holiday...Mediawhores seems to have taken a sabbatical. Some days, even pretty, pleasant, holiday days I really appreciate an antidote to the rightwing drivel on television, radio and in the newspapers. Thanks so much and you have a very happy holiday knowing you are keeping up the spirits of many people. God bless! Nancy Brown
Supler Subj: Those Damnable Polls You've seen those damnable polls, the ones that ask which political party is better able to keep America secure. And, of course, majorities respond, The Republicans do. That's because the Republicans keep saying that is what they do. But do they? That is another question, and another answer. The pollsters are asking the wrong question. No big surprise at that, is there? The proper question is: Which political party is scaring the shit out of Americans for no discernable purpose, except to keep Americans' minds off the economy, their jobs and futures, the education of their children, crooked allies of the Republicans on Wall Street and in the lobbies of Congress? Now there's a polling question where the Republicans can get 100% positive responses. I hate those polls. I have been polled thrice in my lifetime (I'm 66 years old). I lie. I would not tell the truth to a pollster if his, her or my life depended on it. I am not alone. Forget the polls. Ronald E.

Chewgababy Adding Color: Looks like the COLOR added to the Saddam story is ORANGE! We went on orange alert to divert attention from the growing "true" story concerning the Saddam "capture" by the almighty US. Thanks for printing my email below requesting we watch for the "color" in any story from the BushCo. ======== Have we pulled the beige truth from the "color" BushCo likes to provide with their photo ops. Remember the British Airways "color" concerning the turkey prop, the Jessica Lynch "color" and the Flight 93 "color". Something tells me they have not abandoned "color" for the very bland "truth". I am sure there is a great rainbow in this Saddam capture story. PJOnes Subj: Who's Evil? I saw the funniest/weirdest thing on CNN-Headline News today. Of all people, the hated-evil often referred to as whakey, Khadaffi was walking with Mandela. They both looked happy, smiling and very cordial walking through some very green backyard type area. As I recall, Mandela LEFT his country as not to be caught in a BushCo Presidential photo-op. Now, when Mandela thinks you are so evil that he would rather be seen with Khadaffi than you Mr. Bush, that says a lot about the current state of this administration and the character of Bush overall. PJOnes That Saddam and Rumsfeld MET is hardly the point, but that Rumsfeld KNEW that Saddam was gassing his people and gave him the okay to go ahead is the despicable and abhorrent part people should know. A BuzzFlash Reader Hey Buzz- Why are the Democratic presidential hopefuls acting like a bunch of winos locked in a closet? You know, p*ssing all over each other and lifting wallets in the dark. The following is a quote from "Fear and Loathing: On the Campaign Trail '72": With respect to making outrageous claims of your opponent-
The "Wino Club" doesn't even need to make up anything, just lay the guy's record out and that alone should beat him into a screaming coma. But no, they go after each other -- sad indeed. Brent |
