Subj: Most of Iraq is stable...

Dear BuzzFlash,

Again, Condoleeza is out there spouting the spin point, "Most of Iraq is stable." Again, my analogy, "The doctor told me most of my brain doesn’t have a malignant tumor."

Or why not, "Most of the soldiers in Iraq are not being blown to pieces." Or, "There are several helicopter flights a day and most of them don’t get shot down. No one gives a shit about the stable part of Iraq because brave American soldiers aren’t routinely leaving there in "transfer tubes."

BTW, has anyone ever figured out what Condi’s bona fides were that would suggest she would be a competent, effective National Security Advisor other than her willingness to lie?

just a short time back people were all over every channel telling us that the military was just two to four hours behind saddam............shouldn't we be catching up to him by now?

Subj: 3000 Dead

Here's what's happening:

Sneaked into a budgetary authorization, hidden inside a procedural disguise as part of business as usual, President Cheney and The Busheviks are surreptitiously changing the way we live.

This bill was PASSED by both houses of Congress.

No public debate. No dissent. No awareness.

More insidious flagrant manipulation of 9-11.

Lewis Carroll is running the country.

Did YOU hear about it ?

F.B.I.'s Reach Into Records Is Set to Grow [LINK]

Hello

Reading the story below ("Government Outgrows Cap Set by President," which I found on Yahoo news), I was struck with this thought. This is an issue to bring to Republicans, not in a sense of partisanship but in a sense of saving our country's future:

"How would you react if you read this story and there was a Democrat in the White House?"

The obvious answer is that they would be going ballistic. This is getting beyond partisanship. We are talking about the future of our nation, and the Republicans need to start acknowledging that. Attacking them is not going to get their attention. No sane human being would find anything comforting from this article, especially a member of a party that up until 3 years ago spent twenty years screaming about the need for a balanced budget amendment to stop out of control government spending.

We need to do something.

Sincerely,

Steve Wolfson

Government Outgrows Cap Set by President [LINK]

By Jonathan Weisman, Washington Post Staff Writer

Confounding President Bush (news - web sites)'s pledges to rein in government growth, federal discretionary spending expanded by 12.5 percent in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, capping a two-year bulge that saw the government grow by more than 27 percent, according to preliminary spending figures from congressional budget panels.

The sudden rise in spending subject to Congress's annual discretion stands in marked contrast to the 1990s, when such discretionary spending rose an average of 2.4 percent a year. Not since 1980 and 1981 has federal spending risen at a similar clip. Before those two years, spending increases of this magnitude occurred at the height of the Vietnam War, 1966 to 1968.

Subj: Neil Bush

Dear Buzz,

Now why would anyone pay a MILLION dollars to visit the presidents brother?...... unless he passes info thru the back door so w can do favors worth MILLIONS without it being obvious.

This is the most corrupt leadership in American government ever.

What a wonderful example we are for democracy and "Christian values".

The fools that vote for these thieves are as much to blame as our air head president.

loyal Buzz reader

Subj: Not a Crusade, per se!

I guess the thinking must go something like this: If we manage to plant the seeds of democracy in the Middle East, which will bloom across the region, bringing the flowers of freedom to the oppressed, they will be so thankful to the freedom-loving, freedom-giving Americans that they will forsake centuries of adhering to the teachings of Mohammed, and upon seeing the error of their ways, embrace Christianity as the one true religion.

Democracy = Christianity

GWB = Charlemagne

Except of course, Charlemagne actually led his soldiers into battle.

Subj: Nice rip on Bush

Nice rip on Bush as only the Brits can do.

Indeed, today's Washington has a whiff of Soviet ways; suffocating internal discipline, resentment of even reasoned, moderate opposition, and a refusal to admit even the tiniest error. For imperialists, read " evildoers". With their condescending "we know best" attitude, Messrs Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the rest offer as close an impersonation of the Politburo as you will find. As was said of the pre-glasnost Kremlin then, so with the White House now: you know nothing, but understand everything.

Subj: Karl Rove is a genius

Dear Buzz,

Everybody keeps saying that Karl Rove is a genius, the way he has taken W and the rest of the corporate, fascist cronies into the heights of power. But I have a different take. It doesn't take genius to be a first class jerk, to win at all costs regardless of how many lies you make, or how many bribes you take, and how many lives you leave in your wake.

Karl Rove and his minions win because they have no morals, no sense of fairness, no sense of compassion. They are bullies, pure and simple. And that's all they are.

Subj: Honoring those who died

Hi BuzzFlash

How disturbing it is to us, that our soldiers who gave their lives in this make believe war of GWB ( the resident thief of our White House), are not honored on their return home to America, and their grieving loved ones. . Like so many throw away objects, they are hustled in and out of Dover, without their leader, to HONOR them on their return, in death.

These brave men and women were sent to fight, only *because GWB said so?* Then to be tossed aside like so many numbers, when they lost their precious lives. All for nothing! Like a bunch of toy soldiers a child would play with. When you really think about it, isn't this what GWB is doing, only he's using real live soldiers?

It hurts our heart.

Seniors who support BuzzFlash in the wonderful job they are doing.

Subj: Some may feel . . .

that he isn't up to it, but Gore should reconsider a run for the Presidency. A lot of people don't want Bush to get re-elected but they don't know how to cast their votes. The Democratic candidates are mediocre at best. Dean or Clark will probably get the nomination but neither is a serious contender against Bush and Big Business. How about Gore and Clinton? I'd consider voting for that ticket.

Subj: Cheney Administration

Regarding the link entitled, Newsweek Covering For George "The Buck Stops Everywhere But Here" Bush; Cover Story is "Blame Cheney for Iraq." Who's The President: Bush or Cheney? Just Asking. 11/13--Cheney is the president, always has been, ever since that so-called election. You didn't know that? Jeez, and I thought you guys were smart. The cranky little cowboy is way, WAY to stupid to be president. He's got an attention span of about a nanosecond. I think they keep him sedated somewhere except when they need to trot him out for a speech for a soundbite or something, which he blows half the time anyway. Darth Vader is definitely in charge.

I can't believe you didn't know that!

In the past week, computer users at 30 other colleges and universities have broken the law by possessing more than 13,000 potentially damaging memos written by employees of a national voting machine corporation, all following the initial example set by a student at Swarthmore.

The (cease and desist) orders demanded the removal of more than 13,000 memos taken from an internal Diebold Web site that was accessible to the public. Diebold, in the order, claimed that possession of the memos constituted copyright infringement.

Subj: Bremer

Dear BuzzFlash:

A few minutes ago I saw a wire-service story in which Paul Bremer describes the Iraqi insurgency as a low-intensity conflict.

Have I missed something here? Eighteen Italian coalition soldiers dead today, and hundreds dead since Mission Accomplished? And this is a low-intensity conflict?

I agree with the writer at today's bartcop page who says we live in "the United States of Irony".

Unbelievable!

Subj: A Campaign Against Hypocrisy

Dear BuzzFlash Readers,

I am writing to ask you to join me in something that could have a positive and direct impact on our country - and should be good for a few laughs as well.

In case you haven't heard, Rush Limbaugh, noted hippo-crite and the man who puts the "ugh" in "Limbaugh," will be returning to his job on Monday to poison our great country's airwaves again. I would like to implore all BuzzFlash readers with access to a telephone between 12:00 and 3:00 Eastern Time to start CALLING HIM on Monday. The mainstream media seems unwilling to ask him the questions that we all want answers to, so we'll have to do it ourselves. We’ll get our response straight from the horse's mouth, as it were.

It's time to flood his phones lines with calls from people other than dittoheads. Every day. Taking phone calls is a big part of his show. But what if every single call he answered had one of us asking him hard-hitting questions on the other end? What would he do? Keep cutting people off? Come apart at the seams? Who knows, but I'd love to find out. Maybe he would be so afraid of what the callers had to say, that he would stop taking calls ALTOGETHER. And how would his advertisers react to a barrage of honest, intelligent, probing callers - something his show has never seen? Probably not well. So what I'm suggesting here is that we do something almost the opposite of a boycott.

Let's call him and ask him what it was like to be whacked out on enough Oxycontin to kill an elephant. What it's like to be able to return to a well-paying job instead of being thrown in jail, like would have happened to the rest of us. Where did his housekeeper score it from? Narco-terrorists? How did it feel to send another person into dangerous situations just to feed his habit? How have his opinions on the war on drugs changed from this experience? Will he now call for the release of all people incarcerated for drug-related offenses? Does he plan to start eating more to fill the hole in his life that drugs can no longer satisfy? How does he feel about Courtney Love facing FELONY DRUG CHARGES for the same drug and for drastically lesser amounts of it? Does he see that as a sign that there is perhaps more of a War on Culture than a War on Drugs? How does it feel to be a hypocrite? Does he think that he himself deserves to be behind bars? How do his sponsors feel about supporting a drug-addict? Does he plan on doing any commercials for Oxycontin? Does he feel he is a good role-model for the children of America?

I already know that if he responds at all, his number one response will be that he can't talk about it because there is still an investigation pending. But even if that’s true, it doesn't mean he can't still answer GENERAL questions about drug addiction and policy. I'd like to know, for instance, if he feels that Oxycontin addiction supports terrorism. Or if you don't feel like asking a question, just call to let him know that you will never ever EVER buy a product from any of his sponsors until they withdraw their support for him.

I don't know how easy it will be to get through on his phones - I guess that just depends on how many nitwits are clamoring to call in and agree with his every word. But I, for one, am going to give it a try. And if enough people follow suit, we can have a real impact on the way conservative talk-radio dominates the fabric of our national discussion. Oh wait, I forgot - we have a LIBERAL media.

You can call Rush at 1-800-282-2882, between Noon and 3 Eastern, starting Monday. I’m sure he’d love to hear from us.

Thanks for your time,

Subj: More on Lynch's Rescuers Dropping Like Flies

On the story about the lies they tell, my question is: why isn't a mainstream media source compiling all those quotes from Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, et. al, and putting them out there? We have the tape of Jim Leher asking Rummy the question. Get the facts and lay them out to the American people - AND some journalist needs to say, when Rummy gets his back up: "I'm sorry, Mr Rumsfeld, but I do have the day, time and place where you made those statements. Are you now saying you were lying then? or now?"

SOMEONE PLEASE DO IT!!!!!

Subj: BUSH: A MAN WITHOUT A CONSCIENCE

Dear BuzzFlash,

I really don't know why Paul Bremer came so hastily to visit the white house, but I am betting that he did not have any good news for Bush. Unless you are suffering from major denial, it is VERY OBVIOUS that things are beyond a mess In Iraq, and that we are in a very perilous situation over there. Despite the pathetic assurances of things going quite well over there, and the ridiculous statements coming out of this administration, like the more progress is achieved the more the insurgents will attack us, I really don't think many americans realize the gravity of the situation we are in.

First and foremost, Bush and his cohorts should BE IMPEACHED for blatantly lying and taking our nation into an unnecessary war. Saddam Hussein was a tyrant, but due to UN sanctions and being boxed in, he was a TOTALLY IMPOTENT enemy. As the world can see, we have not found any discriminating evidence of WMD's, or other harmful weapons that would have been a threat to any country, and certainly he was not an IMMINENT threat to the USA. SO WHY THE HECK DID BUSH START THIS BLOODY WAR? We cannot preemptively start attacking another nation because we "Think" they have WMD's. Although the number of our troops being killed is unacceptable, no one seems to address the fact that thousands of innocent Iraqi's are paying with their lives, and not accounted for, indicating perhaps that their lives are of no consequence. Just as we mourned the deaths of nearly 3000 on 9/11, no one seems to care that thousands more than that have been killed over there in Iraq. Doesn't that make us terrorists too?

Isn't it ironic that George Bush gets bent out of shape when he talks about abortions and a woman's right to choose, but yet can sleep like a babe when he is responsible for the ongoing terrible deaths in Iraq??

Subj: SOMEBODY WATER MY PLANTS!

I am reading stories about CNN "planting" a question in an audience, and all I can say is, "so what" because FAUX and our other "mainstream" news services do this all the time.

Have none of you ever seen the end of Crossfire where people read their "questions" straight off a card?

Just last week, I was watching, "Dayside with Linda Vester" and Ms. Vester overtly admitted that the "question" a male "guest" asked her was, "Not the same question they had discussed before the break". Linda seemed genuinely perplexed and highly amused that the man had "thrown her off" with his new variation of the question.

I realize that the professional propaganda spin-doctors at FAUX would surely say something like, "Discussing a question with our audience(s) during commercial breaks is a common thing on our talk shows!" And I realize that CNN's spinners would surely say, "We make people sign releases and put their questions on paper so they do not swear on T.V.!" to throw you all off as well, but WHO in the world with a real brain would really believe that dribble?

Certain guests on most (if not all) shows like the ones above are hand-picked to ask certain questions that will "steer" their conversation (and YOUR thoughts) exactly the way they want it to.

The other day, I also saw some coverage about businesses "planting" pre-paid people in movie audiences to scream out slogans during those commercials that are typically played before the movie to make you more receptive to what they want as well.

This is no real news "revelation".

The "mainstream" media almost always lie to us America! (And worst of all, they "steer" the conversation off the IMPORTANT things in America like our little old ladies ((and men)) eating cat food to talk about STUPID stories like, "was Elizabeth Smart raped", "was Laci murdered by Scott", "did Kobe rape the girl".)

If you ask me, I say shame on them all.

Dean

Subj: Trickle Down Economics

Dear BuzzFlash,

Guess what! Bush's tax cuts are working... [for Bush.]

The tax cuts for the wealthy are [trickling] down to his campaign funds in the form of healthy campaign contributions and $2000 a plate dinners. Bush will have raked in almost over a hundred million dollars for his '04 election by the end of the week and is still going. He told us the tax cuts would help restore the economy. He just didn't tell us whose economy.

Subj: Courtney and Rush

Courtney Love is at this moment under investigation for exactly the same thing that Rush Limbaugh did.

Possession of Oxycontin.

In her case, only a small amount.

But she is being dragged into court.

Rush is, for some reason, still under investigation for possession of HUGE amounts.

If Courtney is indicted, this will put much more pressure on Rush. Hopefully.

But Courtney is not a Republican.

Bad news for her.

Hi BuzzFlash,

THE NERVE!

This morning Katie Couric was asking Jessica Lynch if she didn't feel a little bad that other soldiers with her the day she was captured are still there and not getting the attention that she is getting. Jessica came back with the right answer - she is not the one who put herself in this position - she did not ask to be famous. We all know who put her in this position. I wish they'd now shut up because Jessica's absolutely right. Rove & Co. came up with the story and the media blindly followed without checking, as always. Now they want to blame her for it. My god, she enlisted, got sent to Iraq, drove into an ambush, got captured, was gravely injured - what do they want from her? Oh, that's right. She forgot to stand up and thank George W. Bush for giving her the opportunity to do all that.

Keep up the good work. You guys must never sleep! It's a wonder any of us do.

Subj: Shhh, The CIA has a Secret.

This morning I decided to look up the definition of "insurgent" when I heard Tim Russert, the Bush's PR mole at NBC, use it this morning as ordered by the people he is supposed to be objective about. I was incorrect about my interpretation of the term. According to my dictionary it means to rise up against your government or organization with the intent to take over. I do think I am correct in saying that the resisters in Iraq are not insurgents because you must have a government or some semblance of organization to insurge and they have none. They are fighting against invaders, which is what we are. We are attempting to take their country.

According to a CIA analysis there are more and more civilians supporting the resistance. The Bush Administration is said to be "deeply frustrated" with their handpicked Iraqi council. They don't appear as upset as the Iraqi populace is at not being allowed to pick their own council. Someone said that the Bushes are upset with their council's "infighting" and "nepotism". They aren't even close to being as upset as I am at the Bushes "nepotism". Pot, pot, pOT, POT!!!!!! For the Bushes to even suggest anyone is more into nepotism than they are is not only the "pot calling the kettle black", but it seems they are blinded by a boulder the size of the Astrodome. Powell, Scalia, who knows how many others? And then there's all those Pioneers and ENRON execs.

According to the secret CIA report, the Bushes want to reduce the U.S. military presence. They probably want to replace it with Cheney's energy policy team. Remember when Bush said he was a uniter and not a divider, how were we supposed to know he was planning to unite the Sunni and Shiite Muslims against us, which, according to the report, he is accomplishing. Of course he has divided this country like it hasn't been since the Civil War.

"The CIA report also said there was no way to completely seal Iraq's borders with Syria, Turkey, Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to infiltration by foreign Islamic extremists bent on killing Americans." We can't prevent our government, lead by Christian extremists, from their seemingly un-Christian technique of evangelism by "shock and awe". Why can't they understand that killing 300 plus Americans is worse than our killing tens of thousands of Iraqis? We are admitting that the biggest and best equipped military on the planet can't protect Iraqis from Turks, Jordanians, Saudis and Kuwaitis? Aren't they supposed to be our allies? We protected the Kuwaitis and Saudis from the Iraqis, but we can't do it the other way around.

We really need our military back over here to protect us from the Bush Administration, or better yet, protect themselves from the Bush administration. We are required to wholeheartedly support the Bush Administration no matter where they want to send our kids. I know this is like a broken record, but when are the Bushes going to start sending their own kids to fight for their right to be paranoid. Attacking people because you think they might attack you isn't self-defense it is a self-defeating offense.

If the only way to get our kids out of the nation-building, evangelism by coercion, robber baron hands of these imperialistic bullies is by getting Bush out of office, then that is what we must do. The alternative is to let them continue forcing our kids to do their dirty work while their kids get to party and inherit the spoils. I guess I should say "your kids" because mine isn't going to be over there. She will be here voting against Bush.

Karen Webb, Moore, Ok.

Subj: Ding dong the witch is dead

Oh man, the fundies are going to go ballistic over this. We really ought to be defending OUR side on this whole thing, lest they keep the story spun their way. Namely, the fundies hate our democracy, they loathe the Constitution, and they have utter disdain for the separation of powers and the independent judiciary the framers created to protect us from another tyrant hell-bent on imposing HIS version of religion on all the rest of us. It's high-time we started asking them why the hate democracy so much.

Ten Commandments Judge Stripped of Office [LINK]

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Reuters) - The Alabama chief justice whose refusal to obey a U.S. order to move a Ten Commandments monument fueled a national debate over the place of God in public life was stripped of his office by a state judicial panel on Thursday.

"Finding no other viable alternatives, this court hereby finds that Roy S. Moore be removed from his position as chief justice of Alabama," said a statement read by a member of the nine-member judicial panel.

The panel found that Moore "willfully and publicly" defied the federal order, placing himself above the law in doing so. The 5,000-pound monument was removed on Aug. 27. The U.S. Supreme Court (news - web sites) last week refused to hear appeals from Moore in his bid to restore the marker to public view.
