Subj: They Don't? Huh.
Laurie Manis Subj: Muslim chaplain may face minor charges in (bogus) spy case What did I tell you? This was trumped-up and probably intended to chill anybody attempting to get word out to the families and public about what occurs inside America's Concentration Camp. [LINK] Rosamond Nothing on front page. Who needs a Pulitzer anyway. ;-) Uncanny. M
Subj: Watch Letterman Leno has said in the not-too-distant past that people would be "surprised" at his political leanings. Unless you thought he was a Liberal and/or a Democrat, I rather doubt it. Check out this photo to verify exactly where Leno's lips are right now--keeping in mind his hosting of gov.-elect Pervert's party last night: [LINK] BTW: NBC has announced that it is looking forward to Maria's return. Please, let's add ANY show she is on to the list of those we boycott--of course, inform NBC that we will not watch a sex offender's enabler. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Limbaugh describes Arnold's sexual assaults as "flirting" I swear, I just heard on the Limbaugh show, Thursday October 09, 2003, about 30 minutes into the show, Rush Limbaugh describe Arnold's alleged sexual assaults as something to the effect of "basically he was just flirting". Incredible. You should see if you can get a transcript. Brian [BuzzFlash Note: One wonders what he calls a "prescription drug addiction"?] Subj: Kaal's Dirty Plot I've figured out Karl Rove's dirty plot. First, convince Issa he can become governor if he is willing to pay California mob-"democracy" operatives to collect the signatures. After Issa has spent his money, call him up and tell him it's C. T. Barbarian's turn and you should hold off and run for Senate. Once Barbarian takes office, shower California with federal assistance. It's all meant to help Rove's client, the Unelected Fraud. Barry Schwartz Subj: Something to remember about Arnold and Governing Democrats have gleefully said, "well, now, Arnold will have to govern and it's not going to be easy". Ummm, what was hard was Davis governing with the federal govt (ie, Bushies) trying to undercut him every step of the way. That is not going to happen once Arnold takes the reigns. The Bushies know how to take care of their friends, and folks, Arnold is definitely their friend. We will suddenly be seeing a landmark shift in the way the feds deal with California's problems. Need some help from FERC, Ca? Sure thing now that there's a R in charge. Need some fed govt support to dig Ca out of a hole -- well, of course, good buddy -- we always help our friends. The Bushies know how to make sure their friends get reelected and that's one reason the red states tend to stay red -- the populace knows they have to vote R to make sure the freebies and payoffs keep coming their state's way. Let's not forget that fact when we're talking about how hard it will be for Arnold to govern. Arnold is not going to have to solve Ca's problems while being undercut by the feds, and he knows it. Dems better wake up and realize what they are going to be facing. While the poor and working class will doubtless suffer under Arnold, I wouldn't count on that happening to the upper middle and upper class -- and especially all those liberal Hollywood types will fair exceptionally well under Arnold. And those people are exactly who Dems count on to fund campaigns. Wake up Dems. Bush is after Ca in 2004 and he's going to make sure the feds help Arnold achieve that goal, even if that means reversing all of the positions he took which drove Ca into the hole in the first place. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Bush Selection Practices Please please tell the American people that bush is going to "catch" Hussein OR Osama JUST BEFORE ELECTION. The hunt for both these men is a pretense. Our military is watching the movements of both of them, and saving their capture for the election cycle, to drum up support for a failing residency. Why else is there so much secrecy regarding the activities of our troops? There is NOBODY in the field to speak for the truth. IF SOMEONE WOULD BRING UP THIS SCENARIO IN PUBLIC OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, WE CAN THWART THIS PRETENTIOUS PRACTICE (THIS TIME). Bush uses Osama AND Hussein as "election insurance". BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Optimism, Arnold and Dean I just sent this message to the writers of ABC's "The Note": I think it's interesting that you NOTE and apparently agree with the spin that Arnold's victory was in part a triumph of Optimism over Pessimism. That leaves me asking, however-- did anyone notice that Arnold's campaign song was "We're not gonna take it"? That he continually spoke about California's sorry state of affairs, how the state had gone downhill since he'd arrived? How most pundits attributed his victory to the ANGER of Californians? This doesn't sound a whole lot like an optimistic message bought by voters who buy into rosy scenarios. Frankly, to me it looks like Arnold kinda stole a bit from Howard Dean's playbook. Wonder why now everyone seems to be saying that Dean's anger, and the anger of the Democrats, will work against them? Do you mean to say that anger against Democrats and Davis will work, while anger against Republicans and Bush won't? A little bit contradictory, don't you think? Thanks for listening. Claire Plume Subj: Unsettling Suspicion Dear Buzz: I have a very bad feeling. Soon after we invaded Iraq, Bush turned his attention to Syria. He kept trying to light a fire in every way he could think of (the Syrians were sheltering Iraqi leaders; the Syrians were supplying weapons and soldiers to Iraq; the Syrians were hiding Iraq's purported WMD, etc.). Now the three guys arrested at Guantanamo Bay all seem to have Syrian connections: the chaplain (who, by all accounts except the Pentagon's, seems like a patriotic and peaceful U.S. service member) has a Syrian wife; one of the translators is Syrian; and I forget the third guy's connection. The facts surrounding the cases against each are being tightly controlled and classified (my theory is the accused, if anything, were simply trying to get word to captives' families that they were all right—maybe I'm naive). Now Israel has bombed Syria, and the U.S. refuses to join the U.N. in condemning the action. I have this terrible feeling Bush & Co. have a despicable plan to hold up the three GB guys as Syrian spies/terrorists in combination with a call to defend Israel against Syrian retaliation. That way Bush can take us into yet another war against the country that's next on his oily to-do list. A BuzzFlash Reader I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF MR. SCHWARZENEGGER UNDERSTANDS THAT CALIFORNIA IS NOT THE ONLY STATE SUFFERING? A LOT OF STATES ARE DESPERATE FOR HELP. WHY SHOULD HE GET FEDERAL TAX DOLLARS AS OTHERS SUFFER. WHY SHOULD WE PAY TO HELP CALIFORNIA WHEN OUR OWN STATES ARE SUFFERING? RANDI K. PS. WHAT ABOUT THE LEAK STORY AND THE BUGGING STORY? Subj: The Darkest October Words can hardly tell how I fear for my country after all the Republican steamrolling I see. I am sure Bush will use our money to make Arnold looks good and say, "See how great it all turned out? We knew Arnie could turn things around." Looks like the sheeple of Ca. will buy right into it. So now, we have Florida, California and Texas (after the re-districting) and now we find the repugnants are working on Pa. (I refer to the FBI bugging of the Dem. Mayor's office.) Sounds like we are doomed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every dirty trick works because the Democrats in Congress are playing dead. I am disgusted with the whole Washington Cabal. Yes, it was Lincoln who said, "Most people get the kind of government they deserve." I believe we have an uneducated populace who spend most of their time watching reality tv (with the exception of sites like BuzzFlash, Bushwatch and Smirking Chimp.) I hope Lincoln's other quote that you can not fool all the people all the time is also true. God help us it he's wrong. Sandra Subj: Set Up I read the commentary about O'Reilly on Fresh Air and was surprised that no one picked up that it was a set up from the beginning. He obviously went on the show to use the interview as an excuse to bash publicly funded NPR and get a juicy piece of liberal meat for his own show. Listeners will remember his rant against NPR during the final minutes. I was a little disappointed with Terry when she acknowledged that she wasn't as "tough" on Al Franken during his interview, saying it was a "different kind of interview" She wasn't as hard on Al Franken because the whole interview was a lot of fun and Al was in a good mood throughout. O'Reilly made me tense up the minute I heard his voice. He had an agenda, and he accomplished it. Sad, but true... the right wing has TOTAL control of radio. Pam Finkelman Subj: Limbaugh Here is some idle speculation regarding Rush. Remember when the Right was so intensively seeking the full medical disclosure of Bill Clinton's examination. The speculation was that he had some drug dependency issues. Now Rush went to work for ESPN (part of the Disney Corp.) He insisted that he was correct in his analysis of McNabb controversy and that he would hold to his guns. Well, he quit while the second story of drug abuse was being released. I am confident that Disney has a drug policy that probably calls for drug testing of employees, either randomly and/or upon suspicion. Do you think Rush quit because they requested a drug test? Do you think that his own company has a drug policy? I know this is mere speculation, but maybe BuzzFlash can request that he submit to hair or urine testing just like many of his dittoheads. You can keep a running count of the days that pass since he refused your request. Patrick Cleary Subj: Outrage Overload Dear BuzzFlash, Well, I cried when it was announced that ahnold won, I cried when the supreme court appointed baby bush pResident. Of course, I cried on Sept. 11th, and still cry for those families just trying to get some answers. I cry every day when I see the young men and women who have been killed in Iraq. My brother has his orders for Iraq on Oct. 19th. (since I don't watch cable TV- Are any other news programs showing the men and women individually who have been killed, besides The News Hour with Jim Leher?) Thanks to PBS, the News Hour and also Bill Moyers. At least I am getting some real news, but then I get angry. I am feeling a lot of outrage overload these days. I refer to Tom Tomorrow's The Modern World on his 2-11-03 comic strip. Tom has a gift for using illustrations and humor to capture the madness of bush and thug's actions. I also want to thank BuzzFlash and the writers to the mailbag for helping keep me sane in these crazy times. BuzzFlashers are intelligent, insightful, and thoughtful. I appreciate the links that are provided and I like it when these letters go to folks beyond the mailbag. Preaching to the choir is good for support, but we need to get these well written letters out to the broader audience. (local, national newspapers, or places where the main audience needs some education and of course to our reps.) Like some others, I feel that ahnold may be on his way to be baby bush's running mate. (why else would Hatch try to change the rules) I can see them stooping that low. But as long as democrats focus on the people and not the issues the gop spin doctors will turn it against us. Everyone should have focused on the undermining of democracy by- how the recall was initiated in the first place. It wasn't a peoples' recall -it was a republican bullshit politics. ( You know recall, redistrict, re-write rules) Now if the democrats work with ahnold he's a hero- if they don't, he will blame them for not allowing him to fix California. (but he does need them since he doesn't know the first thing about how to govern) Its win-win for him seeking to destroy the democrats in time for 04. His smugness about winning beforehand really made me ill. It was the same smug look that bush just had when he said regarding the leak "if anyone has any solid evidence -bring it forward." He knows- but he's a liar -so what do we expect. I do believe there is hope despite the rape of California because what goes around comes around. Peace, love, and perseverance to all of the true patriots of our time. Sdawn -San Marcos, Tx Subj: My email to CNN Hi Buzz, Here's my email to CNN about Robert Novak:
Judith Foster, You can tell how desperate W is by how often he talks to military audiences, an audience that is literally ordered to respect him. Let's have him speak at a peace convention and see how much applause he gets... Marc L.
Lippincott Subj: 2004 Elections The Democrats have some very good candidates to run for president. Hell, I thought Al Gore was a good man. It didn't make any difference then, and it won't make any difference in '04. Take a look at what has happened since Dumbya took the helm. It has been a daily barrage of pure corporate crime running amok. Each corporation seems to be in a competition to see who can be the most fraudulent. Under a normal administration there would have been hundreds, maybe thousands of arrests and/or inquiries. And the corporate community and the administration know this. They will do anything they feel necessary to prevent this from occurring. A lot of things can happen between now and the next election. It has already been demonstrated that this administration will resort to treasonous acts in it's efforts to further the corporatist agenda. Treasongate and the subsequent cover-up, the 9/11 air traffic grid outage, the intelligence reports that were ignored, the administration assisted flight of bin Laden's family from the US on 9/12/01, are some examples. This amoral administration only need ignore one more intelligence report to allow another disaster to occur. Then they would regretfully be "forced" to "postpone temporarily" the elections, and of course the republican held legislative branch would "reluctantly" concur. They could pull the same caper as last time and simply "alter" the voting by refusing blacks, Hispanics or anybody who looks "suspicious". One fact should remain clear; that there a lot of wealthy white boys from the corporations and the republican party who could be called to account for their nefarious actions if a democratic regime is allowed to ascend to power. These traitors are quite satisfied with the present situation. The opposition would be well advised to address the probability that the present administration will never concede defeat. Michael
J. Fowler Subj: A quote This is from a speech by the current occupant of the White House in Milwaukee, Wis., on Oct. 3, 2003
So we are left to ponder: "Either the United States did NOT attack Iraq, or the United States ... Hmmm. jb Subj: When Arnie Opens the Books Dear Buzz, Three questions: 1. When The Groper opens the books to the people of California is he going to show them the part where Enron ripped them off? 2. Isn't Federal money used to make Arnie look like a hero and to set up a political machine to elect GW Bush to office in 2004 the same thing as "government handouts"? You know according to the self-righteous Repuglicans, giving Federal money in the form of Welfare, Medicare/Medicaid, and Unemployment Benefits to poor children, single women and the working poor is considered "handouts" and not acceptable in their view. Pull yourself up by the bootstraps they say! Well, isn't Arnie asking for "a lot, a lot of, favors from pResident Bush" the same as begging for government handouts? Why doesn't Arnie and HIS California have to pull themselves up by the bootstraps? 3. Why in the hell did the people of California vote for Arrnuld??????!!! Still disgusted and baffled. I feel like I did after the 2002 $election; ready to give up. Maybe I'm the one who just doesn't get it! Nancy Lynn Nagy (TN) [BuzzFlash Note: The neo-Republican philosophy is built on greed and exclusion, and it is as flawed as the people who pursue it. Leno hosted the Arnold victory party so now it is time for us to pay him back. We can whine about the loss in California or we can act. I choose to be a Democrat who acts against a Republican actor. We need to get together to beat President Bush, who can now employ the robot governor in his Evil Weasel cause. Start with this one simple act....change the channel, show a result. Turn off Jay Leno, Turn on David Letterman. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Arnold and the Watermelon Doll Dear Editors: I found it very distressing to read the quote from the article link below:
I'm a Jamaican-born American citizen and I have never seen such a doll being sold in Jamaica. I have contacted friends, family and official agencies and no one can recall seeing such a doll. I strongly doubt he bought it in Jamaica. However, more important than where he bought this doll, is why would Arnold Schwarzenegger send such a noxious image of racism--Black doll with watermelon--as a gift to anyone. Put this together with all the allegations--the serial groping, two black former bodybuilders claiming he used the "N" word liberally, the Hitler and Waldheim stories--and we get an extremely disturbing picture of the elected governor. Unfortunately, due to the short run up to the election and the sheepish mainstream press, Californians may have elected a pig in a poke (or a puss in a bag, the Jamaican equivalent). Pauline
Binder Subj: After the Recall Now that Schwarzenegger has been elected, Californian's must hold their new governor's feet to the fire on three vitally important issues. Repeat these lines to yourself like a mantra: 1. No energy settlement. 2. Stop the retaliation against the women who came forward. 3. Require a paper trail for all future electronic voting. 1. STOP THE RETALIATION AGAINST THE WOMEN WHO CAME FORWARD - The Schwarzenegger camp is engaged in intimidation tactics against the alleged victims of criminal sexual battery who came forward under pressure of the recall election. " Brown shirts" have repeatedly called the women at home; Schwarzenegger and company have warned the women to get lawyers now. Please see the 1990 Columbia Journalism Review for a detailed account of Schwarzenegger's penchant for bullying victims of his misconduct, stay tuned to http://www.codepinkalert.org/ for more information, and follow the links in this article for a history of Schwarzenegger's humiliation tactics and sexual misconduct http://www.thenation.com/outrage/index.mhtml?bid=6&pid=987 2. NO ENERGY SETTLEMENT - This is indeed a scandal. In 2001, Schwarzenegger met with Ken Lay and Mike Milken in Los Angeles to cook up the plan, whereby a conservative California governor would agree to a pennies-on-the-dollar settlement in order to sabotage the Davis-Bustamante private lawsuit filed under Civil Code provision 17200 to force Enron and other power companies pay back the stolen $9 billion in illicit profits. This under-reported intent behind the recall election, a scheme cooked up by Bush commissioners two years ago, must be brought to public attention now. Schwarzenegger must be held to account and moved to act in the interests of California, to NOT pander disastrously to special interests at a cost of $9 billion to the people. More info http://gregpalast.com/detail.cfm?artid=283&row=0 3. REQUIRE A PAPER TRAIL FOR ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEMS - Another intent behind this recall is to move California to the Diebold touch-screen voting systems run by a die-hard GOP donor who has vowed to deliver his state for Bush next year. The leading touch-screen proprietary product is so badly designed that votes easily can be changed. Damning internal memos have been obtained, and suspect elections have already occurred in two states. The ONLY way to detect and prevent vast election fraud is to file paper receipts for all votes registered on all electronic systems. Cheap, easy and right... yet quite suspiciously Diebold is fighting this simple solution tooth and nail. Do they have something to hide? One person, one vote is all we've got, folks, and we must protect it. More info http://www.blackboxvoting.com and http://www.salon.com/tech/feature/2003/09/23/bev_harris/index.html and http://www.thomhartman.com/commondreams.shtml If you are concerned too, please share this message with friend! Thank you. - Bill Dear BuzzFlash, Is this a nightmare or the reality? We have an illegal administration that has lied to take us to war; has totally destroyed our economy; has leaked the name of a CIA agent; has allowed the corporate corruption to go unpunished; has given tax breaks to the outrageously rich; has not find Osama but allowed his family to leave our country; is fleecing America giving no-bid contracts to his contributors; have tagged as un-patriotic, anti-American or traitor anyone who opposes their actions; has managed to destroy the respect other nations had for our beloved country; etc. Now a sex maniac has been "elected" governor and a republican senator wants to amend our constitution in order to have a foreigner the right to become President. The so called "liberal press" continues to pander the administration and their programs and publications are just deceiving the American people. The Democratic party, with the exception of a few lawmakers, have just been rubber stamping every wish the administration has without having the guts to demand independent investigations of all the wrongdoings. Please tell me that this is just a nightmare, and I will wake up to our real America, a country of hard working people, proud and peace loving. Jocelyn Subj: Hollywood Media Elite The hypocrisy is astonishing! I hope all the media outlets were well compensated for their support and coverage of Arnold. I also hope they realize that media for money is fueling the fire and pushing politics further into troubled waters on both sides of this country. Republicans attacked the character of Bill Clinton at every step of his career. His morality has been judged since the day he entered political life. There are stories of pot smoking, draft dodging, adultery, rape, incest, murder…you name it he has been accused of it by widespread accounts and assaults covered by the media. Many of the GOP’s finest have stepped forward to pronounce how he has ruined our youth my making sex casual and acceptable. Yet, when the avalanche of credible information questioning Arnold’s character begins to surface it is generally ignored of refuted. The media now takes a moral high road, and (what else) tries to compare it to Clinton’s behavior. Here are some examples of Arnold’s fine moral value system the GOP now supports:
I do hope they were all compensated nicely. It appears that the comments that the Hollywood Media Elite is indeed ruining this country. The media elite happen to be the very news authorities the average American counts on. The country will be picking up this bill (sorry, that is not a media popular attack on a Clinton) for a long time to come. He now says they are "old news." I guess that way of handling the issues really makes Orrin Hatch proud! Susan Lefler Subj: Rice: Saddam Never Disarmed Buzz, The title of the Yahoo article, 'Rice: Saddam Never Disarmed,' is misleading since she's saying he was never armed to begin with - he only had "the ambition" to do so. "Saddam Hussein had the ambition and ability to use weapons of mass destruction ... no weapons have been found. ... Kay uncover[ed] evidence of materials and equipment that could have been used to make weapons." "Ambition? Ability? Could have been used?" Is this their best shot? Is this what we killed [and are killing] thousands of innocent Iraqis for? Do these idiots listen to themselves, ever? Rice may have "the ambition" to be convincing, but if this is the best she's got, she's a flop. T Quigly I just saw a quote from the CNN Presidential debate that puts Clark ahead in my book. After being attacked by several of the other candidates he said: "I will not attack a fellow Democrat". A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: White House Whitewashing With Fear! Dear Buzz: Well, there they go again! Whenever trouble brews, the White House whitewashers cover it up with fear in the news. I was surfing cable news networks last night and found a few threats and warnings emerging on the news crawls. The one I found most interesting is something I had never pondered before…AGROTERRORISM. There it was on FOX in all its beauty. The State Department warning that terrorists networks (who, well al Qaeda of course) is planning to attack our crops and our livestock. Naturally, there was no specific information on a specific threat available. Of course, it can be assumed that this beast would likely rear its ugly head once again at the Iowa Caucuses. After all, no one has done more to fight terrorism and make us feel safe and warm at home than President George Whistleass Bush. On another channel, I caught the end of a crawling message which stated there had been “attempted”missile attacks on commercial aircraft. When I checked back for the rest of the story, it was evident that this was but a subliminal method of scaring the populace. The story actual referred to flights at Baghdad Airport. I suppose the prime intent was to cover up the Administration’s failures to secure shoulder based rockets; and to rebuild Iraqi infrastructure. Or maybe, the airport remains closed to prevent uninvited guests from joining the party and reporting on what is really going on. All we really know now is the real reason for war was to prevent Saddam’s ambitions from becoming programs that could some day develop weapons of mass destruction, and the administration once again red-white-and-blue-washes us with fear. Barry Baker Subj: Dubya, Texas, and Schwarzenegger 10/9/03 I just read your BuzzFlash mailbag and one reader was complaining that Schwarzenegger said he would use dubya's Texas as a model for governance. I gave that a little thought and here is some of what I think you can expect: Social services? forget about it. Those that exist will be funded if they are "Christian faith based" (good luck finding one and don’t expect much) the rest will be starved. Crime? its going to rise. Infrastructure? it will rot. unless some politicos buddy needs a contract. then it will take years to be finished. Emergency room visits? nope. insured only need apply. the rest can die. Gerrymandering? for sure! Wages? well, Texas is a right to work state. translation: employers hire non-union workers so they can pay them peanuts or just not hire workers at all. Employers contract out work. This means you're out of work when the contract ends. Environment? in my part of the state many people can’t drink the water out of the tap. It stinks and tastes bad. Sometimes its brown. I know a guy who lost his leg after he caught and ate a fish down here. I don’t do stupid things like that. I live in Monsanto, BP, Phillips land (and they don’t give a damn!) There’s a neighborhood five miles from here that is off limits for the next thousand years. You think I’m joking don’t you? Well, lets see...I’ve touched on crime, social services, health, wages and environment. Oh, about government...have you ever heard of the Texas Mafia? they’re the government here. I’m not the most articulate guy in the world but the above should give you a clue as to what you can expect. Also, if you’re one of those people who think all of this will not affect you let me say that gated communities, a HEAVY police presence and immunizations are becoming increasingly popular among the affluent...down here. Mark Subj: Arnold is a Moderate? Arnold announced David Drier is the head of his transition team. Drier's record:
Rosamond Subj: ARNOLD -- 1 THING HERE NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT - I AM A CALIFORNIA VOTER 1 thing here that nobody is talking about: 45% - that is a High Number –of People Said NO ON THE RECALL. The “Yes”vote was only 55% -- this means that Arnold only got in by a mere 10% more votes. Ok -- let’s give the man 100 days of a “free pass”–Enough time for him to make a mistake. Wait and see – With the violent, physically aggressive ways that Arnold and his people do to other people Including physically attacking Georgy Russell, 1 of the 134 other candidates, With Arnold and Maria looking on –watching their people physically write on this woman’s shirt with PERMANENT markers and Attacking her, while they did nothing to stop their people, For more info, go to: http://www.georgyforgov.com/press14.php and read what happened. Just give him enough rope to hang himself –as soon as arnold makes a mistake, The other 45% of california that said “no”to the recall are still here –waiting for him to so much as slip on a banana peel –and we’ll Recall arnold, too. Ps…. You know the republican party has turned racist when a family like mine –going back to lincoln –has always been republican – And My mother for the first time ever says, “i am ashamed to be a republican and sick of bush and his thugs that have hijacked the republican party…how do i sign up to be a democrat?”And she voted against the recall and for bustamante – Something i’d never think i’d hear or see her do in a million years. Now if we can get more republicans like her to see the light and get bush out in 2004. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: New Iraq Campaign & $$ Is the Bush campaign paying for this dog & pony show to convince Americans he was right about Iraq??? This is clearly to spiff up his image. Tax payers should not have to pay for these lies twice. D. Ely Subj: Gropinator Voters Dear BuzzFlash, Don't blame me. I didn't vote for the recall. I didn't vote for the Gropinator. In fact, only 4,420,400 of California's 15,380,526 registered voters voted for the recall and only 3,747,446 voted for Ah-nold. Turnout was not as high as the corporate media would have you believe. Only 54.4% of registered voters cast ballots in this recall election. This was slightly more that the November 2002 turnout of 50.5% but considerably less than the November 2000 presidential election turnout of 71%. Furthermore, we voters of Los Angeles County rejected the recall (51% to 49%). So, dear BuzzFlash readers, please don't paint us Californians all with the same brush. So many of us Democrats here are gnashing our teeth over having to contend now with the Groping Gorilla in addition to the Smirking Chimp. A BuzzFlash Reader in Santa Monica Subj: They can't even find 2 senior administration official but.............. Hi BuzzFlash,
The Bushies can't even find 2 of their senior administration officials but the say they can protect 300 pounds of plutonium traveling across the country, from California to South Carolina & then they'll put it on a ship & send it to Freedom (formerly known as France). Of course they are insisting that this poses no threat. This is weapons grade plutonium - enough to make 50 nuclear bombs! Linda Subj: The Situation in Philadelphia Dear Buzz, I think we might want to keep an eye on what's happening in the Philadelphia Mayor's race. With just 1 month to go in the campaign, the FBI/Justice Dept. have bugged Democratic Mayor John Street's office and confiscated his Blackberry electronic scheduler. This totally smacks of pre-election dirty tricks meant to upset this close race in favor of the Repug candidate Sam Katz. (Katz is a slimeball who used to be a Democrat but flipped over to the dark side because he knew he couldn't compete in elections against other, stronger Dem contenders.) Here are some links: http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/6976800.htm http://fredericksburg.com/News/apmethods/apstory?urlfeed=D7U2J5C80.xml Of course, Philly is a big Democratic force in an otherwise Repug state, and there can be no doubt Bush that would love to be able to gloat about another " victory" in his column, especially after California. Keep up the great work, Patsy Devlish Buzz, Why does Bush keep calling Paul Bremer Jerry? I have heard him at least twice and tonight on frontline he did it he called him Jerry. Is Paul Bremer's name Jerry? Curious Subj: Twisted Logic Sean Hannity has repeatedly called for Iraq to repay us for "liberating" them through oil sales, rather than repealing the Bush tax cut. This is wrong on so many levels. Imagine if I was walking by someone's house and somehow sensed an immediate danger to myself. I then purchase an insane amount of weaponry, illegally enter that house, and start shooting away. When the smoke clears, a few family members are dead and the house is a mess. I happen to see a winning lottery ticket in the head resident's hand. In order to recoup my expenses, would I be justified in taking that lottery ticket? Vishal Subj: CBN.com Home Page Hi buzz, Robertson' Nuke Threat made in last statement. Isn't making a terrorist threat a crime? http://www.cbn.com/CBNNews/News/030630e.asp A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Bush Protest in Lexington KY 10/9/03 Greetings BuzzFlash, 10/9/03 We just returned from Lexington KY, where 1200-2000 protesters of all ages sent a strong message to George Bush. That's right. Lexington KY and up to 2000 people turned out with force, determination, and a lot of noise. The site was removed from Bush's speech and the crowd extended over several blocks, but it was big. This was the largest demonstration ever in Lexington. The signs and banners reflected the unparalleled frustration and anger of the people who took to the streets tonight. Please let your readers know that the conservative heartland of America is sick to death of George Bush and his lies. We're sick of his war and his phony PR campaign to promote the war to groups of American military personal. He doesn't have time or the ability to find the person who violated federal law by outing a CIA agent, but he has time to travel to New Hampshire and Kentucky today to hand out more of the same tired bogus lies. Everyone should know what happened in Lexington tonight. Please make sure this story is told. Thanks. Judy Munro-Leighton |
