Subj: Davis Wants Criminal Investigation of Sexual Battery charges against Arnold Editors Note: While Davis's call for a criminal investigation has political overtones with the recall election less than 48 hours away, the issue will remain potent after the election regardless. Under California law any non-consensual sexual contact is unlawful. With 15 women now accusing Schwarzenegger of such acts the allegations would undoubtedly follow him to the Governor's mansion. For Republicans both in California and nationally this carries big potential risks. For the moment the game plan seams to be, 'gain power now, no matter what the cost.' How it will be possible for the Republican party to distance itself, in a national election year, from behavior that makes Bill Clinton look like a choir boy, remains to be seen. -- MakeThemAccountable.com * * *
Subj: Arnold and Sexual Assault So the latest defense for lawyers to use for their clients who are accused of sexual assault will be "bad behavior." As Arnold has admitted to a crime?, then where is the prosecutor for Arnold's crime(s), or is there a one year statue of limitations on this offense? Meanwhile, all those convicted of sexual assault who are spending time in Atascadero State Prison of this crime should be released as there is no penalty for just "bad behavior" using Arnold's logic? Karen Boerboom/Platteville, WI Subj: Bush jokes, "I EXPOSED YOU" Just heard on C-SPAN radio Bush with President Kibaki of Kenya taking questions from reporters, and he joked to a reporter, "I exposed you." I didn't hear many laughs. -Kent Bye Re: The Corleones in the White House It's bad enough having the Corleones in the White House. But could we at least have as Don the icily-competent Michael instead of the scatter-brained, out-of-control Sonny? Paul Breslin Subj: Novak on Keeping Government Secrets
A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: How much is a billion? A billion seconds ago -- it was 1959. A billion minutes ago -- Jesus was alive. A billion hours ago -- our ancestors were living in the Stone Age. A billion dollars ago -- with Bush's deficit spending-- was 8 hours and 20 minutes. Subj: WMD Analyst David Kay is Former SAIC VP, SAIC did Maryland Diebold Analysis
Well, this ties some interesting threads together. David Kay is former VP of SAIC. SAIC did the Maryland voting analysis, and now Kay is head apologist for the Bush Administration's virtually nonexistent WMD claims. So how independent should the SAIC analysis be considered? Best, Steve Subj: Inspector Kay Apparently, until just last October, Inspector Kay was vice-president of Science Applications International Corporation, an arms manufacturer and defense contractor which leads a $650 million contract for military services and support in Iraq. Can we honestly expect an objective evaluation of Iraq's WMDs from this guy? A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Saturday Night Live! Dear BuzzFlash, For the first time in ages I was home at 10:30 on a Saturday night, so I tuned into SNL for its season premiere. It was pretty funny, so I stuck around AND TAPED FOR REPEAT VIEWING one Ms. Tina Fey saying that Bush couldn't find his own ass with two hands and a flashlight!!! It was electrifying!!! But the odd thing was, as if this was 1958 Leningrad or whatever, I actually whispered aloud: "CAN THEY SAY THAT ON TELEVISION?" I guess they can, and I salute head-writer Tina Fey for the courage she shows in these contentious times. Sincerely, Michael G. Subj: One BIG Coincidence [On the night of Sept. 10, 2001, Hussayen stayed at a Herndon hotel that also housed three of the Saudi hijackers who would slam an aircraft into the Pentagon the next day, though there is no evidence that he had contact with them.] 4th para from [LINK], "Spreading Saudi Fundamentalism in U.S." How many hotels in Herndon and so just how big a coincidence that Hussayen stayed at same hotel as hijackers? Next, what kind of evidence could there be of contact with he and the 3? Having worked at a number of hotels in Orlando, they have phone records of calls made from room as well as copies of food and beverage bills which could be tied to either specific rooms if charged to them or tied to individual credit cards. Phone records could tie the 4 together as well f&b bills could indicate whether Hussayen had dinner guests. Heck, many hotels keep logs of messages including the old fashion ones that create carbon copies and which are generally saved. Although adhering generally to Occam's razor that the most simple explanation is most likely true and thus generally eschew conspiracy theories, this is 1 hell of a big coincidence. Dan Subj: All About the Oil Why can't the American people see through the fraudulent war perpetrated on us by the Bush White House was simple about the oil? Iraq was never a threat and it was all about corporate greed and Bush reelection campaign. The monies that the American tax payers are paying to the Bush selected companies rebuilding Iraq will be returning to his campaign coffers. I am sure that the media is aware of this and report nothing. 9/11 was the greatest thing that happened to this administration and they are milking it for all its worth. This country is so riled with fear that they are willing to let this president do anything it wants in the name of national security. Do the average person realize that their chances of being injured or killed in an automobile accident are many times more than by terrorist. We all want a nation free of terrorism, domestically and internationally, we also want a world free of diseases, but we are not going to have it that way so we have to continue to do the best we can without abusing the rights of others. James Epperson Subj: Karl Rove's Wife Hey Buzz, If, as Karl Rove has reportedly said, the courageous and patriotic wife of Joseph Wilson is fair game, doesn't that mean that Rove's wife is fair game, too? Just wondering... A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Drudge Edits Arnold's Comments I have just revisited the DRUDGE REPORT to see that derogatory comments he made about women and hispanics has been deleted from an exclusive DRUDGE report. FROM THE ORIGINAL report of an email by the producer of ARNOLD"S latest COLLATERA DAMAGE :
The line appeared in the original Drudge exclusive. This was quoted from an email sent by the producer of COLLATORAL DAMAGE to others in top studio circles. The line above was removed from the report on DRUDGE when I revisited a few hours later. Better not let anybody know what Arnold really said Jay Finnegan Subj: Hatch tries to amend the Constitution to allow Arnold to be President (please excuse me while I barf) Dear BuzzFlash, This is very interesting. Senator 'Patriot Act' Hatch wants to amend the Constitution to allow non-US-born citizens to become President of the United States. [LINK] What do you want to bet that as soon as Arnie is elected, he'll try to do away with the recall provision so it isn't used for 'TOTAL RECALL II' against him? On second thought, that probably won't happen, because Arnie doesn't really give a hoot about California or the Governorship. He just sees it as a stepping stone to the Presidency. He doesn't plan to be more than a one termer as Governor if the republicans can ram a Constitutional amendment through giving him a run at the White House. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Welcome back from the Dark Side, SNL... Tina Fey: "As of yesterday, the Bush administration still hadn't found the source of the White House leak that outed a woman as a CIA operative. To recap, here are the things President Bush can't find: The source of the leak, weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, Saddam Hussein, Osama bin laden, the link between Saddam and Osama bin laden, the guy who sent the anthrax through the mail, and his butt with two hands and a flash light." A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: How Low Will They Go I wake up most mornings with a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, thinking that the Republicans cannot sink lower than they already have, ethically speaking. However, I am continually surprised by how low they will go. Now, on two fronts, they have sunk to that time-worn tactic of scoundrels: blaming the victims. First, we have Joseph Wilson's integrity and credibility questioned because he now supports Democrats. We are supposed to dismiss the fact that he exposed the lie about the Iraq/Niger connection that Bush used to sell the nation on war. The bottom line is that Wilson told the truth and Bush lied. I have also heard that he should have expected that his wife would be outed as a CIA operative if he went up against the White House. So he brought all of this on himself. Somehow revealing the identity of a CIA employee is okay in this case because Joe Wilson has given $2000 to John Kerry's campaign. With the Republicans, truth is unimportant. A war predicated upon a mountain of lies which began to unravel with Wilson's op-ed expose must be supported and the messenger slain. And if you go against that line, then it's your fault if you or your family is hurt in the process. Blame the victim - not Bush for his lies. And then we have Ah-nold. The man has been a sexual predator for thirty years now. His sexual harassment is exposed in a detailed and well-researched news article. And who's at fault? According to the Republicans, it's the LA Times for exposing the truth and the women who didn't come forward sooner. For telling the truth, the Times is supposedly engaging in "trash" or "puke" politics. And if only those women had told Ah-nold that groping breast and buttocks and trying to remove their clothing was wrong, why he would have stopped. But it was just "playful behavior" and he's not really a lout and boor. And if the women were really offended, then they should have come forward sooner. The man is an adult who wants to govern the fifth largest economy and he has to be told what sexual harassment is and that it is criminal? Are there people who must be told that grabbing strangers' breasts and buttocks is wrong? And he thinks he's smart enough to govern California? Again, blame the victims - not Arnold and his sexual harassment. The pattern is to deflect the focus away from Bush's lies and Arnold's crimes. I shudder to think how much lower the Republicans will sink tomorrow. When asked whether he regretted putting Valerie Plame’s name to print, Novak said he did not regret it because it was a “throw away line”which was 6 paragraphs deep in the article. Besides, the CIA was incompetent for not stopping me. What? So: He doesn’t regret jeopardizing the life of a true American patriot working to protect all of us in order to discredit her husband, another true American patriot! He doesn’t regret jeopardizing her work and the work of the CIA in stopping terrorists from acquiring WMD! He doesn’t regret jeopardizing her contacts throughout the world! He doesn’t regret protecting a known treasonous traitor in the White House! Novak is a vile, despicable excuse for a human being. He is a liar, a traitor and right-wing hack. This f-stick belongs in jail. No wonder his nickname is the “Prince of Darkness.” BTW, what is the likelihood GWB actually read David Kay’s Report on WMD? Now if it was a story about a goat ... Turk Subj: CALIFORNIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is very important....to all that are not numb with Republican power. If this man gets to be your governor....he has already had meetings with Ken Lay...Bustamante had suits filed against them to repay the 9 billion that they overcharged them during the energy crisis....yes, folks we all know that is what happened! So, if the Groping Idiot Austrian gets in there...that will go by the wayside as fast as he can...'cause this man is not gonna be there long...but perhaps just long enough to screw things up even worse!!! The thing that worries me more than anything...does anyone doubt that the reason they are electing an idiot...a puppet...is for the 54 electoral votes...That state has never, ever gone Republican...and they fixed Texas, and have Florida...they know they will never get New York....but Kaleefornia...yes, if the Puppet Schwarzenegger gets in there.. This is the mentality of republicans who are actually embarrassed by Arnie! My brother, a dyed in the wool republican, has this to say..."Isn't it sad that the Democrats cannot come up with someone who can beat that idiot!?" The onus as always is back on us...it is like the Repugs who told me, that Florida would not have been a factor in the 2000 election...had Gore carried his own state....see what I mean?....It is all the Dems fault...'cause we cannot stop them!!!! What high class mentality!!! (Hopefully, the first thing that happens when he gets in is a lawsuit.) If does no good to remind them...the only debate that was put on...no one talked but the idiot, austrian! He talked over everyone...so how could you even know if anyone else was any good!? Please California.....Vote NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the recall!!!!!! Shirley St. Louis Subj: "Dude, Where's My Country?" Hi Buzz, Thanks for this link!! Michael Moore for President!!! Sorry, could not resist. but he's such a brave man. When so many people gather around a Dear Leader in love it simply starts to be a risky to open your mouth and i guess, that's the reason, why the guardian seems to like him so much, called him the capped crusader. "Moore has no such tradition to fall back on" - this guy is the new Robin Hood, fighting for the poor and weak and occupied he now has money, but does not stop to fight: he's a shiny exception to the rule, that power/money corrupts, using this money not only to grab and grab more and more, but to publish questions, so many ask in America, who never will be heard. But this book will be read all over the world - despite Fox, CNN or whateverdoesntmatter BTW: who says that books are dead?? thank you, buzz Bevier Subj: How much more conflicted can you get, John? Karl Rove worked on three John Ashcroft campaigns, including the one where Ashcroft lost to a dead guy (nice job, Karl...hope you cut him a deal on your rates) AND A guy who was the director of Ashcroft's senate campaign and later worked as his deputy chief of staff is now the deputy finance chairman of George Bush's 2004 re-election campaign. OH, AND I FORGOT George Bush appointed Ashcroft Attorney General of the United States after he lost an election to the aforementioned dead guy. And yet there's no conflict with Ashcroft's DOJ heading the investigation of Karl Rove and George Bush? These same Republicans screamed blood murder if it was even intimidated that, at any time in their life, anyone involved in the investigation of Bill Clinton had actually had sex. After all, they were investigating what might have been a consensual sexual act. An obvious conflict of interest. They're driving me nuts! Lynne Keeley Subj: Novak, in 2001, revealed confidential source Hi Buzz, I followed this link from Take Back The Media. It would be interesting to see this worm squirm in defense of exposing his source in 2001, in relation to why he won't do it now ... or will he??? http://www.townhall.com/columnists/robertnovak/rn20010712.shtml Regards, Elaine Subj: DOJ Whitewash or blame it on the State Department? Dear Buzz, As David Corn mentioned in your interview, judging from the reckless spin the White House appears desperate! After searching about the major news networks where I only found one article regarding the leak at each network, among several about Arnuld, I was able to discern a possible underlying theme. It appears that the Pug media is attempting to prepare the American People for the DOJ "whitewash" to come AND if you really read between the lines one might find some indication that the State Department might be the prime target for blame! If it wasn't for the awful thought in the back of my mind that the Bushies might get away with this one too, I would find all of their desperate attempts to Bushit the American People very amusing! I've compiled some examples for you below. Fair warning: a barf bag for those with weak stomachs might be necessary! " Criminal leak investigations are notoriously futile, and the identity of the administration officials who illegally blew the cover of CIA operative Valerie Plame may never be known" --Salon.com 10/3/03 (This one is very good. This statement is the first sentence in the article, obviously designed to make most of us lose interest from the very start! Why bother investigating if most investigations are notoriously futile?) " The current Justice investigation stems from a routine, mandated probe of all CIA leaks..." --Novak 10/1/03 " Any leak of classified information is routinely passed by the Agency to Justice, averaging one a week" --Novak 10/1/03 (Novak started it all..again) " The [DOJ] source said it was a routine request in the early stages of gathering potential evidence". --CNN.com 10/3/03 " Leak probe put on the fast track" --MSNBC.com headline 10/3/03 (Let's hurry and get this "routine" investigation over with before the Democrats and the American People demand an independent investigation OR before more damaging information leaks! After all, its already been three months since Novak leaked!) " If somebody sends me a blue dress and some DNA, I will have an investigation." --Rep. Porter Goss, R-Fla. (This one is my favorite! The private sex life of President Clinton was something worthy of investigation, this possible act of treason does not rise to the occasion! Goss says there is no evidence.) The letters are routinely used in a national security investigation to prevent destruction of any information a government agency could have. --Fox News.com 10/3/03 (This type of "form" letter is routinely used in national security investigations...like these investigations happen all of the time!) Secretary of State Colin Powell is not sure of "what they are looking for." --Fox News.com 10/3/03 (Most likely Colin, your Neo-Con associates are looking for something they can use to blame it on YOU! Have you read this Colin? Dangerous Diplomacy: How the State Department Threatens America's Security by Joel Mowbray ) "When it comes to the media, there are a lot of safeguards built into the system," FBI spokeswoman Susan Whitson said. Attorney General John Ashcroft would have to personally approve any subpoenas for reporters' notes or telephone records". --Fox News.com 10/3/03 (But NO safeguards for female, Left leaning reporters from Texas who won't reveal their sources...we put them in jail. Why not put Novak in jail until he reveals his source? Or as someone else said, send him to GITMO!) Nancy Lynn Nagy (TN) Subj: Robert Novak Names a CIA Operative The naming of CIA operative Valerie Plame, Joseph Wilson’s wife, was done by Robert Novak in a column date July 14, 2003 (see LINK). Mr. Novak posted a follow-up column today (see LINK). I’ve just read both columns and find Mr. Novak’s attempts to justify and explain himself to be contradicted by his own words. Notably absent from his follow-up October 1 column is Ms. Plame’s name. In his July 14 column, Mr. Novak named Ms. Plame as a “CIA operative on weapons of mass destruction”. Mr. Novak writes on October 1 that the “CIA official designated to talk to me”...”asked me not use her name”. Furthermore, Mr. Novak writes that the official indicated Ms. Plame had previously been involved in foreign assignments, and “that exposure of her name might cause ‘difficulties’if she travels abroad.” In spite of having this information, Mr. Novak blames the CIA official for use of Ms. Plame’s name. He writes on October 1 that the CIA official “never suggested to me that Wilson's wife or anybody else would be endangered. If he had, I would not have used her name.” I guess knowing she was an CIA WMD operative, being asked not to divulge her name by the agency, and being informed that the use of Ms. Plame’s name could cause problems wasn’t enough for Mr. Novak. Mr. Novak must have realized how weak his initial excuse was, so in his October 1 column he further tries to rationalize his use of Ms. Plame’s name by suggesting everyone knew she worked for the CIA. He writes, “It was well known around Washington that Wilson's wife worked for the CIA.”He attributes this information to Mr. Clifford D. May, who wrote a piece on September 29, 2003 for the National Review (see LINK). Mr. Novak writes that Mr. May “had been told of her identity by a non-government source ...”. However, Mr. May actually wrote that he had “learned it from someone who formerly worked in the government”and was led to “infer it was something that insiders were well aware of.“ Although neither Mr. Novak or Mr. May explain what’s meant by “insiders”, it appears that Mr. Novak manipulated Mr. May’s words in order to support his argument. Still uncomfortable with his position, Mr. Novak calls into question Ms. Plame’s role in the agency. He writes that, “While the CIA refuses to publicly define her status, the official contact says she is "covered" -- working under the guise of another agency. However, an unofficial source at the Agency says she has been an analyst, not in covert operations. “ Well, to be honest I don’t know what he intended to communicate in these two sentences, but the fact that the CIA would not define Ms. Plame’s status “publicly”should tell Mr. Novak something. After reading Mr. Novak’s columns and Mr. May’s piece, one can only conclude that, contrary to the explicit request made by a CIA official, Mr. Novak publicly named an agency operative involved in weapons of mass destruction. In these insecure times, what Mr. Novak has done is inexcusable and can’t be glossed over and/or ignored. His indiscretion will have (or has had) unknown consequences. He should not be able to use the pulpit of the media to “explain away”what was done. At a minimum Mr. Novak should be fired and his column dropped from all media sources, that is if he’s not prosecuted for his involvement by the Department of Justice. Thanks for considering my opinions. David Buteo Subj: Governor Groper! Dear BuzzFlash, As always you and your team are doing a great job. Keep up the good work! Frankly I am stunned to think that Arnold Knucklehead could become the new Governor of California! Are these people mad? Davis can't be blamed for all of California's financial woes. What about the the national economy? If you take the economic situation in California you could say Davis has a degree of accountability for maybe about 20% of what goes on. As for the other 80%, well you'd have to talk to George and his team of financial 'wizz kids' about that! The whole recall thing seems ludicrous to me anyway. If you don't like the guy - vote him out next election time! Isn't that how it's meant to work? But what would I know? I don't even live there! D.M.Reid (NZ) P.S. If things don't work out for George next year, I definitely think he shows promise with his poetry. That "Lump in the Bed" thing was fantastic! It got a lot of coverage over here and I must say we were all suitably impressed! (I'll make some room beside my Kahlil Gibran just in case) Dear BuzzFlash: "...To qualify for the tax credits, the makers of this so-called synfuel don't have to prove that they are making a better kind of coal, one that burns more efficiently or offers any other benefit. "You can't believe what goes on," a government official long involved with the coal industry told TIME, ..." [LINK] Jim P Subj: Your lead story about Orrin Hatch Hi to BuzzFlash, Thanks for headlining the outrageous story from the Salt Lake Herald with Hatch's comments about Arnold. I just called Hatch's office in DC, using the free capitol line, 1-800-839-5276. I talked to a young man in his office who was not aware of the article, took down all info that I said, and will check into it. How about alerting your readers to call Hatch on the free line and bombard him with complaints about his comments and unquestioned support for the groper? Thanks for your hard work. Judy Munro-Leighton Subj: Chris Matthews The article in the Daily Howler about Chris Mathews helping the Gropernator was absolutely right. I did notice Mathews being extremely rude to Gloria Allred, and talking to her about Pres. Clinton with that sneer on his face. I think he has a personal hatred for Pres. Clinton and VP Gore, he cannot hide his dislike for them, and always has a smirk or sneer on his face when he refers to them. I have never seen that expression when he talks to that wailing banshee Coulter. I guess Mathews is star struck with the Gropernator, which is obvious, as he did not give equal tv time to Gov. Gray Davis. I think the pundits on the left should stop participating in Hardball as they are often ridiculed and sneered off their segments. A BuzzFlash reader Subj: Absentee Ballots Schwarzenegger's defenders are saying that the LA Times story was suspicious because of its timing. This is pretty ironic, since your story (Arnie's lead shrinks amid groping claims, but absentee ballots were cast before LA Times Story) shows that, if the LA Times was trying to "get" Schwarzenegger, its timing was terrible indeed. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Arnold's Storm Troops Your interview with Karen Pomer informatively leads to a compilation of harassments and assaults suffered by CodePink members who demonstrate against the Schwarzenegger candidacy. Schwarzenegger's repudiation of his past pro-Nazi leanings is now eclipsed by his campaign's evident sympathy for Nazi ways. The thuggery endured by the CodePink demonstrators, spurred by the demagoguery of right-wing talk radio, smacks of Hitler's brutal, rioting brownshirts (the Sturm Abteilung [SA]). Schwarzenegger can give all the bucks he likes to a Jewish tolerance cause like the Wiesenthal Center, but if he doesn't repudiate his supporters' attacks, his gestures are as phony as his movie scenery. I, for one, believe, that he is reveling in his troops of thugs. (And, speaking of fascists, what's more fascist than his cozy subversive ties with Rove and Lay?) Harriet Subj: Arnold dry humps Linda Hamilton's sister Linda Hamilton told the story of how Arnold dry humped her twin sister from behind on the set of Terminator (not knowing she had a twin, he thought it was Linda he was assaulting). I heard the story on TV - on the "So Graham Norton" program on BBC America. I know today's election day, but do you think it's too late to alert the media? Maybe they can get that clip and start airing it! -megan rosenberg Subj: Hmmmm! I wonder if lying about how Novak came about the information (like to Newsday or in his recent column…one of them is a lie) is not obstruction of justice? Perhaps not obstruction if he protects a confidential source, but it may not be protected to lie about how one obtained information to cover for those sources…maybe enough to at least put pressure on Novak to give enough clues to figure it out… I think Novak heard it from someone in the administration, probably Libby from Cheney's office (the VP being remarkably quiet through this ordeal), and it was confirmed prior to publication by Rove…that's my theory anyway…I also think Powell, who was pushed hard by Libby in prewar discussions, probably confirmed the story that the administration called six journalists to push the story. I think Powell knows he's on his way out anyway, and is getting some good revenge out the door. Keep watching this story, Buzz…it goes to the heart (or lack thereof) of this White House... Marc L.
