Subj: Epiphany

Dear BuzzFlash:

I had an epiphany today and suddenly everything that the Bush regime said made sense. If every time they uttered those well worn words "Freedom" and "Liberty" if you add on the subtext "for the rich and powerful" it all becomes immediately clear.

Keep up the fine work,

Don

Subj: Connect the Dots

Dear BuzzFlash:

Have you seen: [LINK]

Doesn't it seem plausible that some of the Saudi 9/11 co-conspirators might have been on the first flight out of the country ... the flights approved by the Bush administration and admitted to recently by Colin P?

If so, it is not surprising that we have yet to figure out who helped Atta & others.

Re: "A firefighter speaks out"

Dear BuzzFlash,

I just finished reading the letter from the firefighter that wonders if the country has gone mad given the way 911 has been spun as a campaign ad for Bush over the past two years.

No, Mr firefighter, you are NOT the only one that wonders just how much more you can take of the insipid crap, that top goon and company have flung the public's way over the last 730 days.

I have been having a very similar reaction to the pro-Bush spin centered around tomorrow's "911 anniversary"

If I see one more building painted like a flag for advertising purposes, or another banner or composite of a tacky airbrushed eagle crying in front of the twin towers... Well, I may very well take up the use of recreational drugs (STRONG ones!)

September 11th, 2001 was a crime and a tragedy of epic proportions...

What the so called "September the 11th anniversary" is NOT, is a reason for celebration of any kind.

There is no reason to celebrate the fact that Bush failed so miserably in the weeks before 911 to heed the warnings of the impending attacks, that it cost over 3000 people their lives. (God forbid should he have cut his vacation short when he was briefed on August 6th regarding Al Queda's plans)

There is also no reason to celebrate the fact that we have a President who is either so inept, or so stupid (or let's call it like it is... there are a few who would argue that he's just plain evil) as to continue to sit and read a book about a goat to first graders for nearly 20 minutes AFTER he was told the United States was definitely under attack, as people burned to death or jumped from a 1300 foot building.

There is no reason to celebrate the fact that while planes carrying organs for transplants to dying patients were grounded on September 13th, Bush Corp was busy flying their cronies from Saudi Arabia around the Country to meetup points "for their safety" (some of whom allegedly had a hand in the funding of 911)

There is no reason to celebrate the fact that the perpetrator of the attacks has not only "bin-forgotten" but in addition he has gotten exactly what he wanted to begin with...a withdrawal of United States troops out of Saudi Arabia. (Someone should tell Mr Bush that blackmailers will always demand more.)

No, Mr Firefighter you are NOT alone...because from where I am sitting the "911 anniversary" is the Bush Administration's national shame and no amount of singing "God Bless America" is going to cover up just how much blood bush and his cohorts have on their hands.

Subj: weakness/hatred

rumsfeld said in his speech that terrorism is invited by the perception of weakness. well then why are the terrorist attacking us? the most powerful nation in the world and not denmark? perhaps because what he said is just stupid. we took baghdad like taking candy from a baby. now they are killing our soldiers everyday. did we look weak? i think it is more likely terrorism is brought on by hatred in which bush has increased substantially around the world.

Subj: that's what bullies do!

GEORGE BUSH SAYS THE UN SHOULD NOT DWELL ON PAST DIFFERENCES. :):):) THEY SHOULD HELP HIM OUT, IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. BIG BULLY BEATS UP THE LITTLE BOY EVERYDAY. THEN ONE DAY THE BIG BULLY FALLS INTO THE POND. OOPS, BIG BULLY CAN'T SWIM, THE WATER IS OVER HIS HEAD! THE LITTLE BOY HE HAS BEEN BEATING UP IS A STRONG SWIMMER. HE TELLS THE BOY HE SHOULD SAVE HIM. THE BOY DOES, THEN THE BULLY BEATS HIM UP AGAIN. WHY? BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT BULLIES DO!

Subj: An idea!

Hey Buzz!

I have an idea that may help increase traffic to your site, especially if we all did it. I went into my email settings tab and changed my signature to reflect my favorite website, BuzzFlash! This way, every time I send an email, someone somewhere will see it and if they don't know about it already, may click through to visit your site. Hopefully, they'll get their mind opened to the other side of things.

Just thought I'd let you know!

Subj: Away from the right and into the light!

Dear Buzz,

I have been wearing an Impeach Bush button for months. Where ever I go people respond positively and with enthusiasm when they see it.

I have been particularly impressed by the reactions of young people who have never voted before. Ordinary kids working in gas stations and convenience stores. Without exception they agree with the message and vow to vote to remove the Bush cabal from office. (This in conservative New Hampshire)

I think these young people will help to fulfill our hope in 2004 to take our country back from the bloodthirsty, violence addicted men who currently control it.

But get this...... My parents have both been lifelong registered Republicans. For sixty years they have voted Republican. Very conservative, and religious as well. Voted for Bush in 2000.

Well, last week they both went to city hall, and registered as Independents! They intend to vote in the Democratic primary! They are disgusted with what George Bush has done to our country and are determined that he not be re-elected!!

The Great Turning is taking place. There is hope for America.

Keep up the good work!

Subj: Washington Post Editorial regarding European heat wave...

Dear BuzzFlash,

I just read your editorial regarding the Washington Post ridiculing the European heat wave. In the tasteless and cruel editorial they compared the weather of the swamp that is Washington DC and the perpetually hazy and smoggy Houston to northern European cities. Perhaps the editorial's author (we know its you Karl) at the Post is simply geographically (latitudinally) ignorant. Perhaps not.

Either the Post's editors didn't bother looking at a world map to see that most European capitals such as Paris and Berlin are further north than Nova Scotia (you know, our traitorous Canadian neighbors) or they did and depended on their fellow neoconservatives not to care, or more likely, not to know.

Ironically enough, this behavior is best characterized by the German word, schadenfreude, a malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others. Pro-Bush, anti-everyone, nationalistically-driven arrogance and ignorance is common among the ill-educated and the dark of heart. So which is it? Dumb or Evil?

Sincerely,

Subj: Tell Congress NO

Dear Buzz,

Here’s a letter I sent to all my representatives in Congress after Bush’s speech:

-----------------------

Dear Sir:

I am one of your constituents.

I am appalled that Bush has the audacity to ask us to cough up another $87 billion to pay for his misadventures in Iraq. I ask you NOT to support this spending.

This additional $87 billion will only legitimize the dangerous doctrine of pre-emptive war; it will encourage future military misadventures around the globe; it will encourage, not discourage, an increase in terrorism; and it is very unlikely to actually fix the problem we have now created in the quicksand of Iraq-- not to mention what else we could have done with the money, which by the way, apparently we don’t have.

We need to admit that as a country we made a terrible blunder. We need to turn over authority immediately to the UN (if they feel so inclined to bail us out after the shameful way our administration treated them earlier this year), get our forces OUT of Iraq immediately, and cancel all oil and reconstruction contracts so there can be no semblance of conflict-of-interest. Only then will there be a chance for a true Iraqi solution to Iraq.

I DO NOT SUPPORT the administration’s spending request, and as one of my elected representatives in government, I ask you not to support it on my behalf.

Thank you.

-----------------------

Buzz, I doubt if our Congress will ever develop enough of a spine to say ‘no’to Bush’s spending request, but I’m sending this to them every day anyway. Maybe if others would send letters to their representatives, our message will eventually get heard. Wishful thinking perhaps, but I felt like I had to do something.

re: Ted Nugent, dead beat dad (among other things)

Tell me it ain't so, Ted! A high-class, straight arrow (pun intended), lauded by the right guy like Ted fooling around with a woman whose address is ""74 Pollyann Trailer Park"? Who would have believed it?

Here is something from the icon's own site:

http://tednugent.com/tnbio/index.shtml

" The future of the shooting sports in this country is in the hands of tomorrow's Outdoorsmen and women. The youth of America must be educated to the Wholesome and valued world of hunting and conservation. Because rock 'n roll plays such a pivotal role in a young person's life, I will share my wonderful lifestyle and experiences with them."

By the way, according to his bio at his site Nugent has four children by his wife--not two, as stated in the article. Father of the year, indeed!

Subj: Bush the Sore Loser

Buzz,

Well, well, I guess Bushie didn't like it that the Democrats and six Republicans stood up for worker's rights and told him to go stuff it when he tried to take away overtime pay. So, what does our mature fearless leader do? What he always does. He went and had a tantrum and threatens to veto all the Democratic spending bills. How mature.

Q: "Are other people having these same feelings and reactions? Please tell me I'm not alone in this."

Dear BuzzFlash,

On the eve of the second anniversary of 9-11, on The Lehrer Report, Rumsf... actually said that 9-11 was a "blessing in disguise".

Subj: Son of Patriot

Dear BuzzFlash,

It's the eve of 9/11, a day of horror that no politician, certainly no patriotic Bushite, would use for political advantage. That is why our Leader used the occasion to avoid media commentary (meek as it might have been) and the radar of the public's common sense and began the relentless push for Patriot Act II. It is now likewise clear that the point of John Ashcroft's whirlwind tour was to make sure that all heads of various "security" forces (formerly known as "Gauleiter") were told to get with the Party's program, or else.

Our effective and beloved Dept. of Homeland Security also used the occasion to send up a trial balloon to propose their green/yellow/red system for preventing American citizens from traveling by air unless some dark computer and some even darker bureaucratic power allow it. With a projected 2% of passengers to be labeled red, that means a mere 30,000 people a day would be prevented from traveling. And then the 8% of yellows (nice word!) could be held in sweat boxes for a few hours, a tactic guaranteed to discourage further travel.

It was clear to me as early as last February that if the Iraq invasion did not go as planned (and more than likely, even if it improbably had), that the screws would be tightened on all of us. Well, ouch! See you all next summer at O'Hare in some holding tank for the soon-to-be "disappeared."

Subj: BuzzFlash letter from the 9/11 Firefighter

To the 9/11 Firefighter who wrote BuzzFlash yesterday [LINK]:

You wonder if others are as disgusted with Bush's handling of the post 9/11 world as you? You bet! Hell, I can't believe two years have past and the families of the victims are still fighting to get answers to basic questions about what the government knew before the attacks and why it failed on multiple levels to put up any sort of defense whatsoever, despite weeks of warnings. That really disgusts we--making the those who suffered the most suffer even more with justified suspicions that their government, usurped by the neocons (read neofascists) may have let it happen so that they could reorder the world to their liking. Ask your pro-Bush friend why in God's name is the White house still stonewalling these families and the rest of us. WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY HIDING?

I run into plenty of people who think the same way you do. BuzzFlash readers are only the tip of the iceberg. But unfortunately, their are still plenty in who still don't get it; while 80% of Americans now realize that Bush lied to get us embroiled in Iraq (the wrong country to go after) polls continue to show they think Bush is doing a good job on terrorism. It's okay to lie to get us into a costly war with wrong country?!? Until more people demand that the press stop protecting the idiot, his numbers will hover in the satisfactory range. But I think I see that finally changing. Finally!

More than a year ago, I wrote a contribution to BuzzFlash entitled "Supreme Irony." (BuzzFlash.com/contributors/2002/05/24_supreme.html) I wrote it after we learned that the administration lied about not having any warnings. I would like, on this second anniversary of that nightmare, for people to read it again. I think it makes it pretty clear that not only has Bush grossly mishandled the post-9/11 world, he is in large measure responsible for the complete failure of our government to take any defensive actions prior to and on that horrible day.

Subj: Howard and Wesley 9-11-02

Dear BuzzFlash,

Please scream the news from the rooftops....it may be in every major paper in this country...but, it sure is in the St. Louis Post Dispatch...page A4, not a big article, but HOWARD DEAN AND WESLEY CLARK HAVE BEEN TALKING...DEAN IS ASKING HIM TO COME ON BOARD HIS CAMPAIGN...AS A RUNNING MATE.

I almost screamed...how wonderful...can anyone think of anyone who could beat these two? I can't. The last time I read anything about Clark...they discussed gun control in this country...for all you people who think that WMDS should be kept off the streets of this country....Mr. Clark said.. "there will be no ak-47s nor M-16 rifles on the streets...and the NRA can take that and smoke it in there corn cob pipes!"

On this sad day...I have something to celebrate! I am praying for this!

BuzzFlash,

Just one day after little bush asks for $87 BILLION to rebuild Iraq's roads, bridges, schools, highways and other contracts to Halliburton, 16 schools in Missouri, with an enrollment of 42,000 children, were forced to close because they didn't have enough money to stay open. It also cost 1,400 people their jobs.

Please tell the fireman that I feel just as he does. I live in a rage every day. I know it is not the right way to live, and it will probably make me sick, but there is some new provocation from the Bush administration each day, and I get fired up again.

Subj: Terrorist Kept in Iraq?

BuzzFlash,

Remember how baby bush has lately been saying that the war is keeping the terrorists in Iraq and out of this country. As I was watching the news this evening, they were playing what is supposed to be the newly released tape made by Bin Laden. The captions were in Arabic, but a translation was being read in English. I was struck by Bin Laden supposedly saying something to the effect that they were going to strike against the Americans, especially in Iraq. That makes me wonder if at least the audio has been cooked up by bush's people to make it seem as though he is correct in saying the war is keeping the terrorists out of this country.

Subj: Thanks for the postcards

Hey Buzzers,

One of the things my husband does is he takes those post cards we can get as a BuzzFlash premium, "BUSH LIED and OUR SOLDIERS DIED" and he puts them inside of newspapers and leaves the papers at a McDonald's where he knows everyone will read it. Everyone reads a free paper that is left on a table, and what do you think they see when they look inside! He also walks into a restaurant restroom and puts one on the wall or on a mirror. He says he is spreading the word. That is a great way that we can all spread the word. Get the "BUSH LIED and OUR SOLDIERS DIED" postcards from BuzzFlash today!

Subj: Why Not Prosecute And Bring Formal Charges In a Court Of Law Against Bushie?

BuzzFlash,

It seems unfathomable to me that our President, along with his more ardent policy makers have not been charged with any crimes as yet?

This CLOWN and his cohorts have just been responsible for the killing and injuring of thousands of AMERICAN SOLDIERS in the Iraq FIASO, HAVE THEY NOT?

So why have they not been prosecuted for their crimes?

The Bushie government has put 2 nuns in prison for pounding on a missile silo along with spreading their own blood on the missile silo and entering government property!

The Bushie government is presently prosecuting a women for going to Iraq and attempting to act as a Human Shield.

In Florida, the prosecutors office has put in jail a 14 year old who ACCIDENTLY shot his friend and also put in jail the father of this boy for leaving his weapon out under his bed and thus, in the prosecutors words, causing reckless endangerment!

Will someone please explain to me how our President and his gang members can create out of thin air with lies and mistruths a reason for invading Iraq?

If this invasion was based on lies and half-truths, thus causing the deaths and injuries of our brave men and women in the Armed Forces, wouldn't this be at least RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT?

I believe if any of the parents of our killed or injured soldiers were to bring charges against our President or any of his policy makers, the President then would have to be judged by a jury of his peers for his crimes.

Why couldn't they?

Walter

Subj: Photo Comparisons

The photo of bin Laden alone in your piece doesn't look like him to me -- yes, more youthful, but his lips also do not look as full, nor his head so long.

These differences could be products of camera angles and poor reproduction. Can you find anyone who can do enhanced analysis on this?

Yes, I think with BushCo anything is possible; but I also think al-Qaeda could produced forged videos with an imposter playing bin Laden.

Or, it really could be him, and his voice. It would be nice to have trustworthy analysis independent of government agencies.

Subj: Arnold Wants To Close, Militarize Border With Mexico

I've checked out the transcript and found these little gems: [LINK]

O'REILLY: OK. Now, one of the reasons you have that problem to begin with is the border is a sieve from San Diego right out to Imperial County. People can come into California. Are you going to do anything about the border? If so, what?

SCHWARZENEGGER: Well, the first thing I would like to do is, is when I become governor, work together with other governors of neighboring states and of states that are next to Mexico to really work on those problems and immigration problems, you know, I think including New York. Because I think if you talk to the federal government, we have to close the borders, make them tighter, especially...

O'REILLY: Would you be opposed to militarizing the border, putting the National Guard in California down there, to back up the border patrol? Would you be opposed to that?

SCHWARZENEGGER: Well, I'm not opposed to that, but I'd really have to check it out and really become much more an expert on how to protect the borders in order to make the -- to stop that from happening.

O'REILLY: OK. But it also needs courage, because you have to stop the flow, and to stop the flow, you have to take, as you know, you used the word before, you have to have discipline.

Now, you were dis-invited to a Mexican-American parade because you're not -- you know, you're telling them stuff they don't want to hear. No licenses. Tough border policy. How did you think about getting dis-invited to that Mexican-American parade?

SCHWARZENEGGER: Well, I think it hurt my feelings, that I was dis-invited. You know, it was -- politics got in the way of that. But you know what I did, I went the same day, a few miles away from that parade, I went to East Los Angeles and I worked on the inner-city games and after-school programs. I went to a softball game. I reached out to the Latino community and all that stuff, so it was no problem at all.
