Subj: Tears Dear BuzzFlash, Is this still America???????????? I read almost all of BuzzFlash daily...I am still that little ole 75 year lady in Tucson. I feel such great sadness for this country and the people running it..their heads are parked up their asses. I read the article printed by Gore Vidal and have believed from that moment on that this administration welcomed 9/11 with open arms. I cannot for the life of me seeing taking a month off when you are pResident or a member of Congress...let alone trying to balance a budget on poor people's backs while all the fat cats get the tax breaks...incredulous and stupid w/all the unemployed. Common sense will tell you it is impossible. Thanks for letting me sound off thru my tears and fears for all Americans. Suzy in Tucson Subj: Governor Gang Bang Debates BuzzFlash, While the Grand Old Hypocrisy Party is busy emptying out America's values, symbols and institutions, its latest "youthfully indiscreet" puppet -- Governor Gang Bang -- has consented to "one debate." He demands questions one week in advance. Hasn't anyone advised Conan the Blockhead that the purpose of a debate is a formal contest of reasoning -- and excuse my howling -- articulating skills? Without available debate steroids to "pump his brain up" -- all bluster, no brains Arnauud just doesn't have the cerebral muscle to get out there and debate like a man. Of course this is the brainiac who graces us with such megawatt insights as, "I believe that gay marriage is between a man and a woman." Well, me too, Arnauud -- it's the gayest! And we should turn the world's fifth largest and highly complex economy over to this dimbulb? Suzanne, San Francisco Subj: More proof Bush lies [Article LINK 1] [Article LINK 2] In the first story we find plans to attack Iraq were on Bush's desk 8/2002, but in the second story we find that once again Bush lied and said there were no imminent plans on his desk. Once again Bush lied and gets a pass. Michael Subj: The UN is now Relevant to the Bush Administration Dear BuzzFlash, Isn't it incredible? All that chest thumping arrogance from this Bush administration; before this totally unnecessary war has gone, and in it's place we can see pleas to the UN and the rest of the world with begging bowls in hand. I don't see why the UN, after being called "irrelevant" and ignored by the Bush supporters, must step in now and clear up the bloody and costly mess made by this incompetent administration. What a great disaster this lot has caused in Iraq, the thousands of lives lost and disregarded, our troops dying on a daily basis, and thousands critically injured. I cannot believe that an administration could be so shortsighted in waging a war without even comprehending the financial burden of it. It looks like the taxpayers will be paying for generations for the colossal blunders made by this good for nothing administration. A BuzzFlash reader Subj: Thousands of non-combat wounded or mentally ill soldiers flown back from Iraq
A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Clinton Bashing It is about time the Democrats started to defend Clinton. His administration warned Condi Rice about terrorism when they left office and she ignored that warning. Look it up. R. R. Lombard, Col. Md [BuzzFlash Note: For more on this topic, check out the BuzzFlash Perspective page, President Clinton's Efforts to End Terrorism.] Subj: Roy Blunt Lies BuzzFlash, Majority whip Roy Blunt was asked on CNN this morning if the reason more countries aren't helping the US in Iraq was because the administration refused to give them any authority. His answer? "I know of no restrictions on any countries that want to help." Amazingly, the fact that even TV network news reported "restrictions" did not deter the lie. The question asked Joe McCarthy keeps ringing in my brain, "Have you no shame?" Does anyone in the ruling party have shame? Are they human? Larry, Maryland Subj: Weekly Standard's Slander Claim is BS. Dear BuzzFlash: Given that the standards for a slander claim are as follows: The statements made 1. were Oral, 2. made publicly, 3. were defamatory in nature and 4. caused material damages to the slandered party, I have a hard time believing that BuzzFlash actually slandered the Bush administration. You could maybe make the claim for 2 of the 4 elements. The statements weren't oral (a semi-educated accusation would claim libel...as a print medium, I congratulate the Weekly Standard on its impressive ignorance of this distinction) and I think you would have a hard time establishing that BuzzFlash caused the Bush cartel any real damages. I mean, these guys have a pretty hard time making a case for anything. Given that Bush is a public figure, the slandered party also bears the additional legal burden of proving the statements false... Hah hah! Ahem. Well, I'm sure they could cook up SOMETHING... So anyway, sorry Weekly Standard, and Ann Coulter while I'm at it: this is one BuzzFlash Reader and future progressive lawyer who is not going to stand by while the word "slander" is translated from its legal meaning to something resembling "criticizing neo-conservative fanatics." Only Antonin Scalia would support this reading of the word...and I think even he might wince. Maybe. Just setting the record straight. Keep on Buzzin, I count on it. -David M. Hendricks Subj: Bush and Pentagon lies on Iraq Buzz, The following article is interesting [LINK]. It claims that the DOD was ill-prepared to conduct searches for weapons of mass destruction. This is really amazing considering THE ONLY RATIONALE WE HAD FOR CONDUCTING A WAR OF AGGRESSION AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF IRAQ WAS THEIR POSSESSION OF WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. In fact we were led to believe that Iraq not only possessed these weapons but that they were represented a clear and overwhelming danger to the United States. In fact the danger was so great that we had to invade a sovereign country and slaughter thousands of innocent people to protect ourselves from this clear and present danger. We now find out that the Pentagon was really ill prepared to conduct a serious search for these weapons. This means first that either the Pentagon is criminally inept or the WMD gambit was bullshit all along. In either case we need regime change in Washington. Tom Subj: Karl Rove Not the Genius BuzzFlash, If Karl Rove was a genius, a never to be beaten guy, then the Iraq situation would not be playing out as it is. The first political lesson any honest politician figures out is the worst possible scenario. I learned this as a city council person on the Pismo Beach City Council. You figure out the worse that could happen, and then figure out how to counter it before it actually happens. You are doubly thankful when the worse does not happen, and all your preparation is for naught. Is it not obvious that Karl Rove did not do this. He is not invincible. Rove apparently did not ask, and did not listen to the dissenting voices. Shame! Shame! The deaths and injured service people are his and this administrations burden to bear. But even worse, the world must bear the unintended consequences of these prideful, arrogant, and obvious ideological inflexible selected leaders. As the postscript, that means the health care for millions of people here in the United States and the world will suffer, and lead to their unnecessary deaths. Karen Boerboom Subj: Frank Drebbin Dear BuzzFlash, Now, I can at least have a laugh about the sadness (with apologies to Leslie Nielson)... I saw every Police Story...and laughed at every one...his driving, knocking over fire hydrants, jumping out of the car as if he meant to do that...and the Airplane one where he said to someone, "Surely you can't be serious"? And the other guy said, "Sir, I am serious, and don't call me Shirley!" I must rent them all...a more slapstick crew of people I have never seen, now all of a sudden, I am grinning! Those of us who are helpless right now...need a grin...for anyone out there, if you have not seen these nutty movies...."Police Story" the series that ran for a long time...and the movie "Airplane" look at them, and wonder how someone who resembles them so closely, got to be president! Before this administration, likely Gerald Ford would have been the most imitated president ever...but now bush, is the scariest president ever...and he also cannot speak a word or a sentence right. Someone the other day, said, he and Arnold should debate, they could try to teach each other the english language. I am still grinning....I need to grin... Thank you, whomever reminded us of dear old Frank Drebbin!!!! Shirley....St. Louis PS...the difference is...Drebbin was an innocent who did not even know that he was dumb....the president is a dictator who knows that no matter what he says, his followers (the rich of america) will excuse anything he does, be it dumb or not!!!!!!!! Subj: Werewolves and Rumsfeld Rumsfeld is slowly losing his mind! Go to google, key in "Rumsfeld werewolves" and click on any page. You should be kicking this issue through the uprights, but I don't even see it on your page. Keep up the good work, I check your page frequently during the day. Duncan Rowland Subj: More Outrages Dumbya continues his war on the poor by restricting the access of uninsured people to hospital emergency services. I call this the "exterminate the uninsured rule." This from an alleged Christian. I don't recall Jesus ever asking the sick for their insurance card before treating them. What would Jesus say about the hard hearted callousness towards the least among us exhibited by the wannabe King George? Perchance he would call him a wolf in sheep's clothing. [LINK] Dan DeLisio WELL THAT'S INTERESTING. :):) ARNOLD WILL ONLY DO THE ONE DEBATE IN WHICH THE QUESTIONS WILL BE GIVEN TO THE CANDIDATES BEFORE HAND. NO PROB. SOMEONE CAN WRITE HIS SCRIPT FOR HIM AND HE CAN MEMORIZE IT FOR THE FAKE DEBATE. :):):) WHAT IS IT WITH ALL THESE REPUBLICANS WHO HAVE TO HAVE PEOPLE WRITE OUT WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO SAY? THEY ARE TERRFIED OF ANSWERING QUESTIONS. KATIE Subj: Clown Outfit Will someone please give President Bushie a Clown Outfit. He wears pilots outfits, union hats, cowboy boots, etc. etc. He says our economy is doing well and his tax cuts are behind the good things that are happening! Just received a letter from Florida Medicaid and I would like to share two paragraphs of the letter with you:
Let's see now, we are spending 4 BILLION a month in Iraq (Yeah, I bet) and our politicians just received a pay raise and cost of living raises. Like I said, Get Him A CLOWN OUTFIT as that is what he is, A CLOWN! Walter Subj: Trickle-Down Theory The real name of the 'trickle-down theory' is the urinal theory: it may relieve the rich, but it leaves the poor in very bad odour. Sixteen years of this corrupt economic theory being experimented with in New Zealand has proved unequivocally that it's a vicious hoax. Has anyone noticed that the theory has now morphed into a twisted form of democracy; if the electorate waits just a little bit longer then, maybe, just maybe, their wishes will be heard. But only after the neo-cons have fulfilled all their own. Regards, Dave. Subj: Paying for War Instead of war bonds, perhaps Bush should sell Freedom fries to pay for the war. Let all the flag waving "boot in their ass" armchair dittohead Faux fans pay for their cable news reality tv war by buying Freedom Fries. I for one hold no grudge at the UN or the French for not wanting to help---what do you expect. Bush and his neocon wingnuts need to be taught a lesson in humility---If they really care about our troops and the Iraqi people they will do whatever begging and groveling necessary to bring in the UN. But Halliburton probably won't let this happen. stevie g Subj: My take BuzzFlash and the liberals just don't get it!!! Don't they understand how lucky we are to have a President with such a grasp of international and domestic issues? Let's start with Iraq. So what if George W. Bush used hyperbole, exaggeration, and false intelligence reports to gain support for our invasion? We won, didn't we??? And who needs the support and good will of those damn "old Europeans"? How can anyone doubt the credential of a brave American who used his Daddy to make sure that he could spend the Vietnam War keeping our skies safe over Texas. (You didn't see any Viet Cong invading from south of the border did you??) And domestically, how is our President handling the fact that during his tenure there has been a loss of jobs not seen since the last great Republican President, Herbert Hoover? Well, he instituted a tax cut that goes to the upper 5% of the wealthiest Americans. Give it time. When we see more spending on Hummer vehicles, DeBeers diamonds, and Burning Tree Country Club memberships, surely we will see a resurgent economy. And how is Bush's dividend tax cut so unethical? Am I wrong in thinking that America's ultra-poor own just as many stocks as the top contributors to the Bush campaign? Oh, I know, the $455 Billion deficit this year and the projected $480 Billion deficit next year will have to be paid by our children and grandchildren, but so what? They've been such a drag on us, what with college tuition and the like. And so what if Karl Rove and Tom Ridge use fear to manipulate the American public into coherence, with amazingly brilliant ideas such as the colorized terror alert system? In fact, I don't know how I lived my life before my daily dose of paranoia delivered to me by the fine patriots at Fox News Channel. What would a morning be without a good cup of coffee and an update on how close I am to being murdered by them darned evildoers! And of course, we don't want to entrust our daughters and granddaughters with the right to make fundamental reproductive choices. The President has the good sense to stack the Federal judgeships and hopefully the Supreme Court with right wing fundamentalists who know best what is good for our kids! And the environment? The President knows best. Let's not impede industry in any way. If you have the money, you can find some piece of paradise. If you don't, tough luck, that's the Republican way. In summary, we certainly should feel a sense of relief that a recent poll revealed that two thirds of the American people could not name a single Democratic candidate for President. The last thing George W. Bush and the Republicans want is an informed electorate - that is, as long as they are kept up-to-date on the terror alert level. Your Heart In '04 VOTE ABB* *Anyone But Bush Ron Weinert Subj: Something Fishy is Going On BuzzFlash, Something fishy is going on. There are two books out blaming Clinton for 9/11 and apparently both authors are using the same talking points. Posner and Minitar have been all over Faux and MSNBC and both are using the same exact stories. Both are rehashing the phony Clinton was offered Osama, and they both are saying Clinton ignored that paragon of truthfulness Woolsey. One however let it slip that one of his main sources was none other than Woolsey himself. It looks as if Woolsey is trying to cover his ass in this whole PNAC Iraq fiasco by diverting attention to Clinton and 9/11. I find it troubling that the Media is giving these two "authors" face time. I also cannot figure out why Woolsey is given credibility---I have been led to believe that a telltale sign of deceptiveness is shifty eyes and no one has crazier eye movement than Woolsey, he even out does Linda tick, I mean, Tripp in facial distortions. Someone should go over the transcripts of all the Posner and Minitar appearances and document similar talking points. How can 2 separate authors have exactly the same talking points, unless they are working in tandem stevie g Sent to: Jay.Inslee@mail.house.gov <Jay.Inslee@mail.house.gov>; Maria_Cantwell@cantwell.senate.gov <Maria_Cantwell@cantwell.senate.gov>; senator_murray@murray.senate.gov <senator_murray@murray.senate.gov>: Subj: Unraveling of America continues on more fronts than one can cope with Hello, Representative Inslee and Senators. The assault on social contracts, protection of the environment and attempts to run domestic protection on the cheap continue. The Seattle P-I today has several articles in the same news section highlighting the maladroit behavior of the administration that passes for thinking. To name a few: 1. An idea to develop 5,000 Sky Marshall equivalents by training Customs Agents who may be pulled in from their normal day jobs in the event we all get temporarily more scared than usual. My question: how is it we can afford 150,000 people on the ground in Iraq at a cost of $1 billion a week, but can't afford to keep 5,000 Sky Marshalls in place to a) protect our own population and b) help American airlines recover and regain strength (plus buy some Washington State made airplanes)? 2. Weakening requirements that hospital emergency centers provide necessary treatments to people, regardless of ability to pay. Although this fits a pattern of toadying to large HMO and insurance companies, it sounds like death in the street for the Poor, with removal of blame from those who are otherwise ethically and legally bound to save their lives. 3. The EPA is removing the long-standing bar on sale of PCB contaminated land. For the main part, such lands are owned by the power and industrial companies who are large Bush supporters. These types of polluters have already been rewarded by removal of special taxation to support Super Fund site cleanup efforts (passing this cost off to the taxpayers). My question is: what tortured reasoning supports this action? I enjoy the Orwellian exercises in wordcraft intended to make us believe jackals are actually gazelles. What is sickening is that these three items are only the tip of the iceberg. During one of Jay Inslee's Hall Meetings, some poor liberal soul asked why we couldn't just dump the "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance, since it was added during the McCarthy era as a counter to "Godless communism". Jay's answer was that in the current hostile climate, one needed to choose a few issues to fight on, and that one probably didn't raise itself to a critical level. Considering the number of abuses of Constitutional freedoms, the rape and pillage of public resources, sellout of the environment, abandonment of treaties and international obligations, violations of international law, bankrupting of our children by running a credit card government, etc., this is logically true. The core problem is that the ideologically driven Right, and the greedy persons who do not even share the sincerely held beliefs of the Right know what they want, and are simply taking it without the participation and consent of Congress, or scrutiny of the Press. When they have gobbled up what they want from an inventory of "things not rising to the level of fighting about" they move on the next meal from what is left, being careful to stay below the radar of items "worth fighting for". The inventory is shrinking. Here's a clue (or opinion): It is ALL worth fighting for. Regards, John F.

Bush makes Reagan look like a Green Peace fanatic. Larry, Subj: What's the deal with the Paul Hill headline? Paul Hill "meets his maker"? BuzzFlash can do better than this (and usually does). The death penalty is a total lie and rip off - and just one more way the Bush brothers cheat the people - using death and fear and vengeance as weapons. I don't pretend to understand the Paul Hill's of the world - and certainly don't excuse their violent acts - but WE don't have to copy their act of killing. We have choices just like they do - and the death penalty is the most cowardly choice of all. Carolyn Subj: From Helen Thomas's piece on BuzzFlash last night Hi, Mark, Were the election returns from this race ever double-checked. I smelled a rat in the beginning and the smell just gets worse...I wish those votes could be gone over again. Cleland was so popular, it just doesn't figure right. Donna * * * << Sen. Max Cleland, D-Ga., voted against creation of the Homeland Security Department in that form as part of his efforts to preserve the workers' union rights. One of the most moving tributes to my fallen brothers is the Wall in Washington. What if some group started a wall now....didn't wait for the end of this insane mess Junior has created in Iraq. Start a wall now. Have it in Washington. Make it black or dark blue. Have it in a really prominent place. Engrave the name of each person we have lost since this mess started, as a tribute to their commitment. Let it stand as a testimony to their presence once in our midst, and the stupidity of the worst presidency in our nation's history. Keep engraving until they all come home. A White Feather [mine was a paper cut-out, but I didn't have one handy]. The White Feather is the ancient and most awe-inspiring symbol of cowardice. John Janks Subj: Asking the U.N. for help? BuzzFlash, No WMD's have been found. No links to Al Qaeda or the events of 9/11 have been found. Saddam has not been found. The Administration has been forced to admit that evidence used to justify the invasion of Iraq was forged and plagiarized. Our fine kids serving in the military still are being killed. The ones who return never will be the same. 37,000 Iraqi civilians, half of whom were children under the age of 16, have been killed. A billion of our tax dollars is being dumped into the 'reconstruction' per week but Iraq increasingly teeters on the brink of civil war. Yet we have the audacity to believe that it's time for the UN, which refused to participate in this unholy war, to 'step up to the plate'? Can Americans get any more dangerously, stupidly arrogant? Turn up the volume! Wake up! Pay attention! Bush lied & thousands died. Got oil? And may God forgive America. Laurie
Manis Subj: Disposable Democracy BuzzFlash, Woke up on the wrong side of the world this morning so allow me the opportunity to dispose of some disgust... We now live within a disposable economy that's creates massive quantities of disposable goods while it drains the raw materials and talent of the local community only to dispose of the workers when short term profits have been extracted and the ecology devastated. Our current selected leaders, in short time, disposed of our national budget surplus and in exchange they've created a deficit with no means of disposal for this and many generations to come. These same scoundrels fill the pockets of the profiteering international carpet baggers with taxes garnered from wages of decent, hard working, and honest citizens, in a misconceived occupation of a foreign nation or two while bleeding this country of its future generation with the creation of an army of disposable GIs. These brave soldiers, if they make it back home on the good side of a body bag, will face a disposable health care system and veterans administration gutted of most of its value not to mention diminishing hopes for a decent education as public assistance suffocates under political posturing and pretense. But wait that's not all. These same public servants would have us dispose of large swaths of the Bill of Rights in the name of securing our "civil" society while disposing of those who don't agree, don't belong, or don't believe, wringing every ounce of decency out of our newly disposable justice system. In this new disposable world disorder you must search long and hard for TRUTH. You can't get it from the Administration, George rarely speaks off the prewritten page if he dares to speak publicly at all, Dick's work is a secret, Ashcroft's assembles his truths outta wire taps, mining for electronic data and your library records but won't reveal any of it, not even to your attorney and Donald "Duck of Death" Rumsfeld has no use for it. In a public sector so lush with corruption and an absence of ethics that should have today's Woodwards and Bernsteins bleeding from their fingertips, typing furiously into the journals of record of the thieves and killers in high places, all we have is a disposable press corps that echoes, embellishes and amplifies layer upon filthy layer of lies, distortions and double speak. The challenge set forth for our generation in this beautiful experiment we call Democracy is to dispose ourselves of the burden of doubt and the depression she nurtures. Dispose of the doubt that our actions and words don't matter, they do. Dispose of the apathy of the defeated slaves that we've become. Rid your spirits of fear. Wake up, and with the very breath of life speak up. Speak truth to power and watch it crumble. Rise up and together we will dispose of the demagogues who would gladly dispose of our democracy. Then we will honor the hopes and dreams of good peoples across this land and our planet. Veteran,

Erica Subj: Environmental Secrecy BuzzFlash, http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2003/36/ma_494_01.html Bush's environmental record will have a larger effect on future generations than the Gulf war, yet it is hardly reported on. The excellent Mother Jones article correctly states how secret and hypocritical Bush is even when compared to Ronald Reagan and James Watt. I have saved several front page articles written in main stream newspapers during the Reagan administration that expressed outrage at his anti-environment policies. Yet, the more devastating policies of Bush hardly make the back pages. I only disagree with one sentence in Mother Jones: "So why aren't more people aware that George W. Bush is compiling what is arguably the worst environmental record of any president in recent history?" should be changed to: "So why aren't more people aware that George W. Bush is compiling what is the worst environmental record of any human in recorded history?" Larry, Subj: My Letter to Al Gore Al Gore: Here's why you need to run Edited on Wed Sep-03-03 05:08 PM by Must_B_Free you said elections should be about the future, not the past. This 2004 election is about the past, Al. The past is the future, because we left the future behind when Bush took us back into the Dark Ages. We need to right the wrongs that were done. If we elect someone who will just move on, the damage is done. We need to go back to where got off the good road and get back on it. We can't let them get away with it anymore. All responsible for the election 2000 debacle and all of the other outrages since that time MUST have the light of truth shone on them. We simply can't gloss it over and hope for a better future, because if we do, that corruption we swept under the rug will come back to haunt us. The WRONG precedents have been set since election and they will tarnish the future if not corrected, mark my words. We need a purge of most if not all elected officials in America. This is becoming apparent to most. The checks and balances have failed us because the Democrats didn't do their job. We need to reign in corporate power and make the corporations serve US, not the other way around. I demand accountability and as an American, I deserve it. If we don't do it right and kill this beast now, it will put on a new mask and come back to destroy again. We need to place the importance of the individual above the power of the corporation. We are in the midst of impending disaster because the drive for "better figures" is devoid of humanity. Look at all the criminals from the Reagan Administration that came back to be hailed as "heroes". If we elect an "electable" candidate who just wants to "put all that ad stuff behind us", who is going to stop the criminals? THEY MUST PAY! It is TIME TO NAME NAMES and hand out REAL penalties, not white collar ones. We can't jump back to the right road without going back and correcting our errors. The laundry is not going to get cleaned by hiding it under the rug. Doesn't America mean enough to treat her right? And Al, your other reason for not running was that you didn't want to dredge up all that mud slinging again. At this point, I don't think that is a problem for you anymore. Bush has NO credibility left and people are seeing through even the cable news propaganda. If they accuse you of claiming you invented the internet, you say "At least I didn't get thousands of people killed for a lie. Which is more important?". Al, you have a responsibility to serve this country, in what could arguably be our greatest time of need. No one else is in so good a position as you. The voters are realizing that they made a mistake choosing Bush and they now must realize that you were the right choice. History is calling you, Al. It's time to repay a nation that has given you a wonderful life. Take the office and HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. Anthony Subj: VEEP and POTUS both on recording? Buzz, An article BuzzFlash recently pointed to [LINK] entitled "A top-secret conference call on September 11 could shed new light on the terrorist attacks" - concerning the airliner shoot - down order, mentions: "participants included Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and senior officials from the National Security Council (NSC), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). Pentagon officials familiar with the events say the conference call was broadcast over a loudspeaker inside the National Military Command Center at the Pentagon, which Rumsfeld and Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were using as an emergency command post." It goes on to say: "...It (the tape recording) was forwarded to the White House on August 6... so that administration officials could conduct an "executive-privilege review," required because of Cheney's participation in the call. However according to the 9/11 timeline published [LINK] (see after 8.46 a.m.): "An Air Threat Conference Call is initiated. At one time or another, Bush, Cheney, key military officers, leaders of the FAA and NORAD, the White House, and Air Force One are heard on the open line..." Now we know that at 9.03 a.m. on that fateful morning when the second plane hit the WTC, the POTUS was still fully "hooked on phonics" with the pet goat story at the Florida elementary school [LINK]. It seems that maybe both the VP and POTUS might need to hide behind this "executive-privilege" secrecy. A BuzzFlash reader. Just thought you might want to follow up. Sara JUST AN FYI-- Thought you might want to know this--I will check out NBC's site later to see if they have posted this video--I will send you a link if they do: I caught an interview this morning that Matt Lauer did with retired Army Gen. White. White quite bluntly blasted Cheney and Rumsfeld for their unrealistic assessment of what would happen in Iraq when coalition forces "liberated" the down-trodden masses (the proverbial "flowers for the troops" scenario) and for the inept assessment of post-invasion Iraq. I was truly stunned by the frank talk from Gen. White--I think Lauer was, too. It was not at all a difficult interview for Lauer to conduct--anything he asked of White, White answered. This included questions regarding "behind the door" meetings with cheney & rumsfeld. What immediately popped into my mind was "this whole thing is completely falling apart"--we knew this a long time ago but it is quite something else to see a former member of their team saying it.
