Subj: CBS Poll hey buzz, from your posting of MSNBC's story on Kerry:
this is the scariest news i've read yet...BuchCorp's media control is working or 66% of americans are indeed idiots... tom coombs Subj: Outsourcing Republicans had best beware that having foreigners involved in our political campaigning could spell BACKLASH! The Republicans don't get it yet, but they will in November 2004, if they keep up their present agenda! They don't even know their own party members very well, do they? It is unbelievable! Americans are still for America. However, more and more are asking, "who else is?" This administration certainly doesn't appear to be! An Angry New Jersey Republican! WE DEFINITELY NEED TO RESTORE HONESTY AND DIGNITY BACK TO THE WHITE HOUSE. GEORGE BUSH AND HIS ADMINISTRATION CREDIBILITY HAS GONE BY THE WAY SIDE. THEIR AGENDA IS VERY TRANSPARENT. BILL CLINTON LIED ABOUT SEX. IN COMPARISON, WHAT BUSH AND HIS ADMINISTRATION ARE DOING TO OUR COUNTRY NOW IS BEYOND IMPEACHABLE. PEOPLE ARE HURTING INSIDE AND THE FUTURE LOOKS VERY DIM FOR THE UNITED STATES WITH THE NUMBER OFJOBS BEING LOST, YOUNG SOLIDERS DYING EVERYDAY AND SPENDING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS THAT WE DON'T HAVE REBUILDING IRAQ. BUSH SHOULD BE THROWN OUT OF OFFICE TODAY. A BUZZFLASH READER Subj: Bush's Labor Day Speech Buzz, Did you hear this moron? "There are some who say the recession that began in 2001 should have been deeper. It disturbs me when I hear people say that. Because that means more people would have been out of work." WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE???? ARE THERE REALLY SUCH PEOPLE???? WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS IDIOTIC CLAIM???? H. Modell, NY (keep up the great work) Subj: Behind Closed Doors Why do I get the feeling when VP Cheney meets with energy executives behind closed doors to get "unvarnished" information, the rest of us are getting "shellacked"?? Is he so stupid to think reasonable folks are dumb enough to believe that convoluted logic? If what they talk about can't stand the light of day, the only logical conclusion is they're up to no good. Truly, the pump don't work cuz the vandals took the handles! Chris Johnson Subj: All the President's Men? Dear BuzzFlash: Here's a rhetorical question for you. If "All the President's Men" chronicled the criminal activity in the Nixon Administration wouldn't a book titled "All the President's Mendacity" be appropriate for George W. Bush? Also, last week I heard Wesley Clark say in an interview that he speaks regularly to Howard Dean and later in the week I heard Dean say that he and Clark speak often. Now I'm hearing speculation that the two may team up as a ticket with Clark as VP. So now I'm thinking, wouldn't it be great if Dean and Clark teamed up from the get go and give Democrats a ticket prior to the convention? What an attention grabber, what a break from tradition, what a terrific idea. I don't think there is a precedent for this, If there is perhaps BuzzFlash or one of the BuzzFlash readers could let us know. DEAN and CLARK, God that sounds good!!!!!!!! A devoted Reader who's decided to become a contributor. Power to the People!!!! Carolyn Ball Subj: Fox News mourns Republican murderer's career BuzzFlash, If you read the story about Bill Janklow's manslaughter indictment on Fox News' website, you might notice the touching obituary they've compiled. Not for the motorcyclist who was killed by Janklow's reckless driving (dismissively described as a 55-year-old Harley rider), mind you, but for the career of the leadfooted congressman (about halfway through the story):
Gee, since he's such a great guy, maybe we should just let this one slide. I feel privileged to read such fair and balanced Republican propaganda. Lisa Cech Subj: Repub hypocrisy--hot story Dear BuzzFlash, I haven't seen you or any other national blog pick this up, but the Right-wing Repub "family values" gov. Bill Owens of Colorado has announced his separation from his wife of 28 years. It's the lead story in the Denver Post this morning, in print and on the web: [LINK]. Remember, Colorado is the home of Marilyn Musgrave (R-4th District), a close ally of Owens, who's the brainchild of the scheme to amend the U.S. Constitution to prohibit gay marriage. I wonder what the Owens family has to say now about the real "threats to the family" now? Ann M. Little Subj: Dubya Revenge?
That's a "drop"? How the heck did that dog end up nearly two feet away from the person who "dropped" him? Perhaps it was more of a "drop kick"--payment for the dog's rooting for the pretzel? Perhaps this Barney's theme song goes like this: I hate you, you hate me...we're a dysfunctional family... Liz hellooooooooooo! if schwarzenegger were a democrat the right wing would have crucified him over refusing to debate! the media would be all over it! the media is acting like oh well that's just arnie. da Subj: Heresy: How Ann Coulter Hates Christians and God BuzzFlash, Thought your readers might enjoy a Labor Day laugh. Excerpt:
Perhaps Gary Bauer could explain to this lost ewe that Christian women don't dress like Jezebel and act like Salome. It's at http://www.therightchristians.org/BlogWeek16.htm#sep1. Allen Brill Subj: mailbag(Frustration two) Dear BuzzFlash, What is it in the right wing pundits, and politicians...that think just because we are distracted by a vile, crooked president..doing unheard of things to this country that they can all do much worse with their private lives and get away without an eye on them??? It never stops...first Joe Scarborough's mysterious fiasco..now he is an arrogant smart-ass on his own talk show. Then, Arnie the Rep. gov-to-be...says anything that he wants...they dig up all kinds of dirt on him..(never mind that it is 20 years ago...Clinton's was 30 yrs. ago) and he just grins and goes on, and the pundits excuse it...just because he is republican! And, Guiliani is a hero, untopped, yet, he lived in the mayor's mansion with ...his wife (estranged), his girlfriend..and his two kids..until a Judge made him stop that...But, to the rightwingnuts he was still a hero..never as bad as Hillary Clinton, who, so far as anyone can tell me, has never done anything wrong in her life at least as bad as the aforementioned. And, this does not even take into account the inane silly things said by Neil Bush, upon his separation from his wife...and the separation of the Gov. of Colo. and his wife..nor, Tim Hutchinson's dalliance with his aide and divorce from a wife of years and years to marry said aide! He voted to impeach President Clinton...during this time...as did Newt Gingrich! You know, of course, that we could go on and on...but, these questions will never be answered..beleive me, I have tried and they just stare at you, like you are some kind of outer worldly person...who should just be ignored! This world we live in now...is the most frustrating thing I have ever gone through in my life. It is not like we don't win, either. Franken kicked the crap out of Roger Ailes and O'Reilly....Hillary's book, except for one week, has topped Ann Coulter's every time. The only time Annie went ahead, it was one place and only one week (nyt.bestsellers). Did Michael Moore suffer at all from his boo challenging remarks at the Oscars?? Hell no...he has made millions more since then! Even the Dixie Chicks opened the door for more protest songs about this war...Johnny Mellencamp (so what if Wal-Mart hides it in the back), it will be heard!!...And Merle Haggard (who wrote an anti..anti protest song during Viet Nam...has now written the most anti...Iraq song ever!...Now, for sure these artists and their music will be not heard in the town that Bill Frist owns, but there is another world out there waiting to hear...and they will! I suppose the answer is to just keep plugging away....and hope that Nov. 2004 will bring us something better.... It just has to! Shirley............St. Louis Subj: The Scaredy-Cat Terminator Buzz, Schwarzenegger refused to answer reporter questions about his profligate life portrayed in Oui magazine. Supposedly, "He came out there prepared to talk about what he was going to do in Fresno, prepared to talk about the (agricultural) economy," What a hoot! [or should I say, Hooter?] This is the same guy who says he won’t give his position on issues until After the election. The same guy, of all the major candidates, who refuses to join in the September 3rd debate. [Per a rival aide, "the Terminator actor is a 'scaredy cat'".] But when confronted with his extremely seamy side, suddenly he’s "prepared to talk about the economy." Excuse me while I laugh out loud and really really hard. T Quigly Subj: The Unelected Fraud Has No Shame... Dear BuzzFlash, The Unelected Fraud lauded the construction workers at Ground Zero on today, Labor Day:
The Court-Appointed Dunce has no shame! Never mind the fact that the Dubyah continues to pimp the 9-11 tragedy for his own political gain. These construction workers that the Unelected Fraud lauded today sucked in toxic air at Ground Zero because Bu$h's EPA engaged in a politically motivated cover-up of the hazardous air-quality at Ground Zero! No shame. No shame at all! A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Why does the GOP get away with sleazy behavior? Buzz, As a Christian, I have always wanted to know why Arnold S. of the GOP can get away with such outrageous sexual behavior? The Democrats are scrutinized for their every move if they are serving in public office or if they aspire to do so. Why not the GOP? MV Subj: Gore-Clark BuzzFlash, Gore-Clark would be unbeatable. By attacking the Bush economy and Bush's lies leading to the quagmire in Iraq, the Democrats would win the White House, Clark would be given 8 years of on-the-job training and then be elected president in 2012. Think about it... John Rafferty buzzflash, bushco admits they flat-out failed to anticipate what might happen in a post-war iraq. in fact, they didn't even plan for anything other than a grateful populace greeting our troops with open arms: [LINK]
as the chatterbox (salon.com) just pointed out, this is exactly what rumsfeld said about afghanistan back in 2002:
uh, yeah. i'm not sure which is more galling--that these guys truly failed to anticipate any of this or that they expect us to believe them, and thus accept this as a "tolerable" outcome. in my opinion, a junior-level intelligence wonk could spend a couple of days brushing up on the history of either iraq or pakistan, dust off a few internal reports these agencies churn out by the ream, and conclude that military action was the equivalent of sticking a sharp, pointy explosive object into a giant wasps' nest. with respect to the afghan-pakistan border region, i'm sure american intelligence agencies had access to and, one hopes, bothered to read declassified soviet documents about islamic fundamentalism in central asia, including afghanistan and pakistan as well as several then-soviet republics. these documents, distilled from KGB efforts at infiltrating and influencing extremist groups during the 70s and early-80s, became available during the late-90s and were the subject of a thorough expose in the economist magazine. the KGB's conclusions? don't even bother. the region was awash in anti-soviet and anti-western sentiment and most islamic groups, certain militant sufi brotherhoods in particular, were far too entrenched and secretive to successfully infiltrate, let alone influence. monitor them but otherwise steer clear. certainly, this reality only got worse after the soviet invasion of afghanistan and has grown downright virulent on account of america's military adventures. in other words, it is pure bunk to say it was impossible to predict that taliban and al qaeda forces would blend into the countryside and across the border. the same holds true for iraq. returning to the washington post article, paul wolfowitz says, "it was difficult to imagine before the war that the criminal gang of sadists and gangsters who have run Iraq for 35 years would continue fighting, fighting what has been called a guerrilla war." what, precisely, is difficult to imagine about this scenario? iraq was under severe sanctions for a decade, suffering shortages and privation, and so there developed numerous smuggling syndicates, and it is likely that many of these were at least monitored, if not directed by saddam's people. there is also the networks that developed in defiance of hussein, in particular the shiia south and kurdish north. now that the overarching structure of iraq has been hamstrung, those networks mean survival, a game as old as history itself. so, when deputy secretary of state richard armitage says, the Bush administration 'underestimated' two developments, 'the first is that 35 years of Saddam Hussein's reign instilled into the hearts and into the souls of the Iraqi people a greater degree of terror than we understood. the second was the nature or the extent to which Iraq had become full of criminal enterprise,' he's insulting our intelligence. the upshot, i'm afraid, is that we can expect to see ongoing terrorist and guerilla activity as a, if not THE, campaign issue. the argument will be "stay the course," and i've already heard bush say it. the strategy is transparent; we didn't see this coming, now we're on the ground, and america needs decisive, experienced leadership to finish the job. (plus, we have all those - ahem - ties to privatized military operations: [LINK]). if you haven't read it yet, get your paws on the september issue of harper's and read "where the taliban roam" by eliza griswold. it's an excellent account of a trek deep into waziristan, part of pakistan's tribal territories. she writes: "during the soviet invasion of afghanistan in the 1980s, waziristan became home to at least ninety madrasas (islamic schools), many preaching the radical deobandi strain of islam for which the taliban are known. now, according to informers paid by the united states, at least 800 al qaeda and ex-taliban soldiers are hiding in the tribal land, reportedly traveling in pickup trucks with local guides." x Subj: Questions Dear BuzzFlash, Perhaps some of your readers can answer these questions: How can Newt Gingrich, who committed adultery, have his second marriage annulled and then be married in the Catholic Church? What about his first marriage? Shades of Frank Sinatra and Sonny Bono! For Paul Begala: Why is Arnold's private life off-limits? The Republicans sure did a hatchet job on your former boss. If Bush is so popular with the American people, why does he appear only before invited audiences? Is anyone recording Bush's speeches? Has anyone noticed how every speech, for the past two years, contains many of the same phrases again and again? For Ann Coulter: In a recent newspaper article you stated," Before the war, they (liberals) said Saddam Hussein was not a threat to America's interests in the region..." When were we told that we were going to war with Iraq to protect America's interests in the region? Whose interests? oil companies'? Halliburton's? Back to Ahnold: Why is it necessary to have split screens on CNN, Fox and MSNBC always showing Arnold when discussing anything about the California recall? How much is it costing American taxpayers for Bush to go on his fund-raising trips? Finally, why don't we just move some of the homeless people into the White House? Bush certainly doesn't spend much time there. Bert Subj: Dubya Drops Dog Did everybody see that picture of Dubya dropping the poor dog on its head? No wonder Dubya's dogs didn't show any concern for him when he got drunk, uh, I mean, choked on the pretzel, and passed out. I hope this head injury won't permanently affect the pup's intelligence -- but it probably could lose several IQ points and still be smarter than Dubya. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: I just sent this to Target
PS- I love your site Subj: You keep on misspelling this word! It's not "Fox News". It's now known as "FAUX" News :) Malcolm Subj: Dubya Too Stupid to Get Out of the Rain? Dear BuzzFlash, Every mediawhore in Ohio is all atwitter about Dubya's visit on Labor Day. As one particularly dimwitted reporter phrased it, Dubya "braved" the rain in order to make an appearance in Cleveland. Well. Ain't it great to know there's at least one thing the wussy little twit isn't afraid of -- or perhaps not -- he was wearing enough clothing for three or four people. Maybe, like the wicked witch of the west, he melts if he gets wet. Anyway, you all will be glad to know he's finally noticed there are a few people out of work, so he promised he's a-gonna do something about it. I know that'll make everybody feel so much better. He promised some time ago to "leave no child behind," and that promise apparently meant cutting out funding for Head Start. So you have to wonder what he's got in mind to provide jobs -- maybe he's going to reinstate the draft. The Armed Forces fighting the war in Iraq are having to endure what basically amounts to involuntary servitude in behalf of the oil companies, and I'm pretty sure they could use a few more people to guard the pipelines and refineries. Marcy Kaptur, the Democratic Representative from Toledo, declined an invitation from Bush to join him in the festivities. I'm paraphrasing, but she pretty much said Bush had a lot of nerve coming to Ohio on Labor Day, considering the number of jobs this state has lost during his time in office, and she preferred to celebrate Labor Day in the company of working people in Toledo. BuzzFlash should take interest in the upcoming race in Kaptur's district. She has consistently opposed the war in Iraq, and one of her republican opponents has promised to make this a major issue in his campaign. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Arnold the Naked Dear California voters, If you do not want Bush re-installed in the White House in 2004, then don't vote for Arnold the Naked. Rove can use that airhead to give all 54 electoral votes to Bush in 2004. He knows nothing about a governorship and has 0 experience. Can you imagine the havoc he could wreak at presidential election time? Even a neocon Republican said he believes Arnold is leading and is going to GIVE 54 electoral votes to Bush. The Republicans know exactly what they are doing. Don't vote for the recall. Make Arnie go through an election process the same way anyone else does if that's what he is so wild about doing. And don't forget, Orrin Hatch is introducing an amendment to make it legal for foreign born to become president. Where did this come from all of a sudden out of the blue? President Naked? Full frontal pictures? mev Subj: Hey Buzz Hey BuzzFlash, In my standard way let me start by thanking you for the great news site - its great! On to my comment: the bushies haven't managed to erase every vestige of that " President Announces Combat Operations Have Ended." The White House link for this is [LINK] While the article referred to by the link "President Announces . . ." is indeed headlined "President Announces Major Combat Operations in Iraq Have Ended" bush's remarks start with "In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed." The great prevaricator prevaricates on and on and on and on and . . . . Everyone have a truly excellent day, GrrRadio.com & Rama
Schneider Subj: Recommended: "Even on stump, Schwarzenegger follows the script" [LINK] Hey -- From story: " In record time, Arnold has become the insider politician he promised everyone he would not become," says Larry Berg, a former longtime political scientist at the University of Southern California. "Instead of running a people's campaign with fresh insight from outside the system, he has surrounded himself completely with very good, seasoned political consultants who have spent their lives in California politics and are advising him accordingly." -- Jake Subj: new administration position for watching jobs go away OK, help me out here. Bush has the audacity to travel to Ohio for Labor Day (a holiday he and his family have no right to celebrate) and announces a new position within his administration that will monitor the exodus of jobs from this country to overseas locations. So what happened to all of those jobs that his magical tax cuts were supposed to create? Wasn't the whole idea to put more money into the hands of those who create jobs so that more jobs would be created? You remember the "trickle down" theory of job creation? Well, it sounds like this is essentially a formal recognition by the administration that job creation as a result of tax cuts is either a fantasy or a lie. I'm at a loss to determine which is which?
I dunno, take your pick. Mick Subj: Deaths and Injuries in Iraq How can this administration get away with not reporting or not counting casualties as such from Iraq......bad enough they will not count Iraqi dead........but the amputations ....mental breakdowns and other catastrophic wounds recently reported in the Washington Post should be aired........wake up people.......bring our troops home. H Steinel Re: "Governor Gang Bang" - A BuzzFlash Editorial Maybe you've got already explored this angle,....but regarding your "gang bang" editorial, don't forget also that the republicans COMPLETELY ABUSED any hollywood figure who spoke out against the war. Pretty quick reversal of their views I'd say. Now a hollywood star is qualified to run the entire state of California. beth Subj: Whoopi's New Show
A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Bush Lied - Soldiers Died. Dear Buzz, I love your site. I have a copy of the quote "Bush Lied - Soldiers Died! Impeach Now!" which I printed in color beneath a picture of the American flag and taped in the window of my car. It is fading now, so I am replacing it, but with a more up-to-date phrase. The new phrase is "Bush is STILL lying and Soldiers are STILL DYING Impeach now. Since the lies are still coming hot and heavy, and there seems to be no let up in the dying, you may want to change your banner on your web site. Keep up the good work. Mike Chejlava Subj: New Postcards Hey folks, I purchased some of your postcards, "Bush Lied etc," and use them when mailing out my monthly bills. They are great. I sure would like to see another one that says something about Pres. Bush being the worst pres in the history of the country. Would love to use them also until the 2004 election. Thanks, Tom Farley. Subj: Bush Lies about Job Numbers Bushies are cooking the unemployment rate. Their sample numbers are in the range of +/- 156,000. We should consider it when they put out the expected "10,000 new jobs" number on Friday. Article here: http://www.nypost.com/business/4672.htm A BuzzFlash Reader it was a laugh out loud moment! :) we saw on the news that the only debate mr. schwarzenegger will participate in is the one he will be allowed to get the questions before the debate so someone can tell him what to say. :) who are the lame brains sponsoring that debate? by the way they need to look up the word debate. it does not mean answering questions with scripted answers to the audience. :):) is everything in california done by scripts? :):) diane a. Click Here: Check out "EU Business - Belgium stands firm over EU military HQ plans" George Bush needs to take his, "I'm a uniter, not a divider" slogan and stick it where the sun don't shine. This moron has done nothing but cause trouble, since the first day he set foot in Washington. Gigi Subj: The only way out of Iraq Dear Buzzers, Maybe the hard core inner core of the bush Brain Trust is smarter than we think. Trouble is that it's now too late for smarts. Reality has got them by the short hairs, now that they are losing the post-war in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Politically, they cannot just simply pull out and count their losses. This would probably lose about a half of their "Faithful" at the polls on election day. At this point, with all the givens of their Middle East "Roadmap," they have to stay there and send in still more troops. Maybe even reinstitute the draft. This means that there would have to be another "Threat" to peace and national safety. Even if it meant manufacturing a Terror event. They could stage a nuclear explosion somewhere, even if it would mean sacrificing American lives, and then BLAME SYRIA. They could then, with clear conscience, destroy Syria, colonize it, then rebuild it. One more America Welfare State in the Middle East. However, if this were to become a permanent format for saving face and bolstering the deception that we are under perpetual threat of terrorism, they'd eventually run out of Terrorist States. Until they smartened up and turned their Panzer Divisions in the direction of their true enemy -- Saudi Arabia. Of course if it got to this point, it would be too late to ward off attacks from the newest wave of terror; armed insurrection from revolutionaries at home, that is, the bankrupt American public. But then there's always the easier way out -- blame the Clintons and admit defeat. John Subj: 2 Georges George Washington: "I cannot tell a lie" George Bush: "The only thing I can do is lie" Times have sure changed! A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Colorado governor (Republican) marriage separation Bill Owens, the governor of Colorado, has announced that he and his wife, Frances, have decided on a trial separation. They are not saying what the reasons are for their decision. Republicans have made a big deal out of "family values" and hinting that Democrats do not practice "family values" too. So, Gov. Owens is not practicing what he has been preaching. More information can be located in ROCKYMOUNTAINNEWS.COM - 9/02/03 in Mike Littwin's column titled, "A family-values governor's marriage falls apart." A BuzzFlash reader Subj: Bush Hagiography Hey Buzz, Has anyone pointed out the discrepancy between the Bush/9-11 movie and the reality? I mean to actually compare the real footage of Bush in the classroom with the recreation? Maybe I'm hallucinating but I'm pretty sure that the kids in the real classroom were black Vs. the movie, where kids were white. Not sure that this matters, but Why? Why would the filmmakers make that kind of mistake? Was it a mistake? Just curious. Peace, Christ Vasiloff |
