Subj: Chemical Ali Dear Folks: Worth noting in Yahoo News this morning is that Chemical Ali apparently has come back from the dead in order to be captured. Very thoughtful of him, really. Robert Crawford Subj: Original Chalabi warning article. Dear groovy buzz. I can't believe I didn't save it! When I first read that link the ap reported a much more exited Chalabi talking about warning of coming hit on soft targets. More interesting though was a statement by a UN person that they had asked for extra US protection the week before and had been turned down. Do you have a copy of this original statement, now erased from history it seems. As the deal cutting proceeds. If you do, can I pls have a copy. If you don't, got any ideas on how I can track it down? [LINK] Thanks, Paula Subj: Bully Bush Bush wants the UN to do their fighting for them, while bush keeps the oil fields. I hope the UN sees thru the liars and demands economic control of iraq. The US needs to leave and let the UN reconstruct iraq. But bush would have to give up the stolen oil fields of iraq, and then why invade in the first place? Juan Subj: Outside the Box I was listening to NPR on my way in to work this morning. They had several "knowledgeable" people on (two military, one former ambassador) discussing what to do in Iraq. All of them pretty much agreed what was needed were more US boots on the ground, a two to ten year commitment, and then the situation will be under control. I could not help but think back to dozens of similar rosy scenarios described about Vietnam: If only Lyndon Johnson hadn't tried to micro manage the war, if we had only put an overwhelming force on the ground, if only we had not lost public support, if, if...if. Twelve years ago I was preparing to shoot some aerial cinematography from a helicopter in Miami. I listened to the chopper pilot, a Huey vet from Nam, tell me," if only we had had choppers like this (slaps Bell copter door) in Nam we would have won that damn war." Of course I did not disagree, my life soon to be in his capable hands. This administration has made its bed in Iraq and is destined to sleep, and die in it. I can only hope with a new election, clearer minds will prevail, and that by then we have not earned the mistrust of every Muslim around the world. Maybe it is already too late for that and we will have to relearn a hard lesson in Iraq. But I would also like to think someone could still step forward and propose a solution that is outside the box of traditional thought. Maybe someone like this Lieutenant General John Abizaid who speaks Arabic could go on Al Jazeera television and speak to the Iraqi people. Maybe he could level with them about the future of their country, tell them we understand their suspicion of our intentions in their country so this is what we're going to do to show our good faith: 1. We sincerely apologize for the mistakes we have made that have resulted in the deaths of so many innocent Iraqis and compensation, though far from a replacement for loved ones lost, will be forthcoming. 2. We ask that a special session of the UN Security Council be immediately convened, one that also includes all appropriate members of the Arab League. 3. An immediate election, imperfect as it might be, of a temporary government chosen directly by the Iraqi people themselves and organized by this special UN body, with a more permanent election scheduled a year from that time. 4. A replacement force of UN peace keepers be inserted over the next year into Iraq, the composition to be determined by the UN and the Iraqi people. 5. The gradual draw down of US forces, some contingent of which will be withdrawn to Kuwaiti bases and/or Iraqi bases as a security measure against resurgence of Saddam loyalists. 6. The immediate reinstatement of the Iraqi regular army to full strength, rank and back pay under the temporary command of the UN. 7. The cooperation of all peaceful Iraqi citizens in taking their country back from insurgents against this UN led effort to help stabilize all parts of Iraqi society. 8. The grassroots participation of the people of Iraq in the rebuilding of their country with the help of outside contractors approved by the temporary Iraqi government, all pervious contracts will be open for negotiation. I would really like to see something like that happen. But then again maybe I'm just slapping that copter door and dreaming, too. Mike BuzzFlash, $6 BILLION tax breaks to Jeb's friends, and now he can't afford smaller class sizes in Florida. Our schools are suffering. View the story at: [LINK] Kate Buzz, Re: Ann Coulter: Slander and Treason All in One Fell Swoop Her comments about Gray Davis and Al Gore being fodder for "friendly fire" is more than punditry, it is inciting hatred. Exchange the words "Gore/Davis presidential ticket" for a "Jewish/Black presidential ticket" and watch the fur fly. Marguerite The way I see it Are anti Bush Huggers Anti American? I don't think so. California's energy crunch hit Californians hard, people were wanting an end to the Brown outs, He then asked Mr. Bush for help, Bush said And I quote "you are on your own" and refused aid to a State in peril. So the Governor paid high energy costs to take care of the Brown outs, and later found that it was Enron that shut down Generators "For maintenance" Now the shameless Republicans are Blaming the Governor for the finance problems and want a Recall. The problem started With Bush's refusal for aid. (California never voted for him) Now let us turn our attention to Florida and the Bush "Selection" Bush lost the popular vote and when the final votes were counted By the consortium It shows that Gore actually won the election. So what America needs now is a Recall ALA republican style and have Bush recalled and Legally! Simply because He lost Florida's Recount. When are the Democrats going to wake up? Why are they turning their backs on the people that elected them and the perfect opportunity To solve their Problem? Stude022 Subj: Surprise, MATTHEWS Single-handedly 17% Anti-GORE BuzzFlash, Any Democratic partisan observing Chris MATTHEWS knows the obvious, that it is a travesty for him to continue calling himself a Registered Democrat. But it was satisfying to find concrete, quantified documentation of this, as follows: from "The CLINTON Wars" by Sidney BLUMENTHAL, p. 723 *********QUOTE****** "In July 2000, the Project for Excellence in Journalism and the Committee of Concerned Journalists issued an unusual study of the 'character issue' as it had been reported thus far by the media. .... The study found that 80 percent of the coverage of Gore concerned the manufactured issues either of his lack of truthfulness (34 percent) or of his being tainted with scandal (46 percent). Only 2 percent of the Gore-as-liar stories bothered to include an opposing point of view. Also, 'fully 17% of the statements about Gore's ties to scandal came from just one prime-time talk program, Hardball with Chris Matthews on CNBC.' Meanwhile, more than half of all Americans, 51 percent, told the Pew Research Center for People and the Press that Gore's experience would make them more likely to vote for him." **************UNQUOTE***** John Garza Subj: Chemical Ali How do the people in command get away with this? In April, they were sure they got him in a bombing mission....per: Rumsfeld??? Now, all of a sudden, he is killed again??? Just for my own peace of mind...How did Cong. Henry Gonzalez die??? Shirley St. Louis Subj: Dying for an honorable peace in a dishonorable war - ugh! Some thoughts after finding this quote, "They're measuring us. They're watching us," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican. "Do we have the resolve to take casualties and spend money? The Answer is yes." How many of those responsible for prolonging the Vietnam War asked the very same questions? How many of those who are saying this actually are in the Vietnam Cowards Hall of Shame? I think the better questions are, "Why? To whose benefit are we willing to take casualties?" Certainly not the masses of Iraqi people. Certainly not the teenagers giving their lives for -- wait a moment, what was it for? Most of the reasons given by the administration turn out to be delusional. Of course, the US can't just disappear now that we have compounded the tragedy in Iraq, but it is time to bring the UN and the real civilized world in, and too darn bad about Halliburton's profits on no-bid contracts. How can one set up a puppet government and dare to say we gave you democracy? The lies and the hypocrisy just do not stop. A BuzzFlash Reader Dear BuzzFlash, re: As seen on BuzzFlash Headline page Did Ann Coulter Chicken Out of Facing Off With Joe Conason on Television? Sure Looks Like It. (Scroll Down Column) 8/22 Maybe Annie just finally collapsed and ran out of hot air. Will we miss her? Yeah, just like a migraine! Thanks for everything BuzzFlash, pissed off patricia Subj: Rep. Bill Janklow Three times today I heard CNN just happen to neglect to mention that Rep. Bill Janklow (Republican) 'ran' a Stop sign before they reported that he killed a motorcyclist while going at least 20 miles over the speed limit. Do you think it was an honest mistake? Funny other newscasts got it right. Gail Powers Subj: California Recall So what is keeping Californians that don't want to vote for the Ahhhnold from submitting their own recall ballot if the Austrian Groper is selected in the recall vote? How about a recall of Ahhhnold to make this really ridiculous? I mean, they only need a few signatures in comparison...how about collecting those signatures at the polling places on October 7? If there is 38% of Davis voters out there, that ought to make plenty of signatures to force Ahhnold to face a recall election, and it could be done nearly immediately... Marc L.
Lippincott Subj: Rolling Truth Dear Buzz, Not too long ago Rumsfeld was heard to say (paraphrase) "Facts change". Today Colin Powell said (paraphrase) "The UN is vital." Last fall, the administration of the 43rd Reich (!) took many opportunities to state that the UN "would become irrelevant (if it did not approve of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld Iraq attack)." I'll be doggoned!!! The UN has went from irrely-vent to vy-tul. The truth IS a-changin. Kind of like them thar blackouts that ken change. Ya know....them rollin' ones. Pamela of the Poconos JIM IS CORRECT. THE CORPORITE CROOKS HAVE STOLEN OUR COUNTRY. BUSH STOLE THE ELECTION FROM AL GORE, AND NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO DO THE SAME THING IN CALIFORNIA. THEY SHOULD BE IMPEACHED FOR THE LIES HE TOLD THAT GOT US INTO THIS EXPENSIVE AND DANGEROUS WAR. Subj: A suggestion for a great guest Dear Mr. O'Reilly, I am such a big fan! Your show makes me laugh! I hope you will consider the following suggestion: You should have Joe Conason on your show, if you really want to be "fair and balanced" (am I allowed to say that?). After that thing with Franken, it's starting to look like you're actually SCARED of articulate liberals -- you wouldn't want that perception getting around! Shut up! Shut up! (oops, did you trademark that? sorry.) Surely with all your expertise and insight you wouldn't be worried about a mere journalist . . . would you? I say, Bring 'em on . . . (can I say that? or did Bush trademark it?) Shut up! Shut up! (TM) Jeanette Castillo Subj: Who is Judge Stephen Wilson? Davis recall delay rejected: Judge Stephen V. Wilson is a Reagan appointee. Somehow, I figured that! http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/comment-steinberg081803.asp A BuzzFlash Reader Sent to: reliable sources <reliable@cnn.com>; Howie Kurtz <kurtzh@washpost.com>; crossfire <crossfire@cnn.com> Last night Ann Coulter pulled out of an MSNBC appearance with Joe Conason and apparently Fox has either refused to or hasn't replied to requests to have him on. Will you comment on the fact that Fox has yet to book Joe Conason on to discuss his book. I have read that O'Reilly refuses outright to have him on. Maybe conservatives need a rigged debate and guys like Alan Colmes are the Washington Generals. Why are Conservatives afraid of fair and honest debate? How can Fox with a straight face say they are "fair & balanced" and do you think Al Franken should counter sue Fox for false advertising and call Conason as a witness? Will you start a new non-partisan media service which makes public all pundits, liberal or conservative, who refuse to appear with certain other pundits from the other side? I find it especially troubling that a conservative like Coulter who has previously stated that liberals should be killed, and that it was too bad the terrorists didn't fly into the NYT building would be fearful of a real debate. Maybe the Conservative media is propping up a bunch of loudmouth cowards who can dish it out, but can't take it. I have always felt that conservatives like Coulter, O'Reilly, Rush, & Hannity needed a rigged debate and whither in the presence of a real Liberal opponent. Thank god for crossfire with real Liberals who come prepared to shoot down the lies of the right. thank you, stevie
gardiner Subj: Chicago's Playing At the White House BuzzFlash, I saw Chicago at the theatre and couldn't wait for it to come out on video so my hubby could see it. The manipulation of the press is more than a little like the Bush administration. The scene where Billy Flint is controlling the press like they are marionettes is just like the Bushies. Razzle Dazzle 'um while turning the law into a 3 ring circus is perfect. All flash and no substance or truthfulness involved. I have felt like Ms Cellophane since 2001 when Bush took office. Poor Amos says, "they look right through me, walk right passed me like I'm not there". Roxy uses him to get what she wants and then ditches him. And in the end the criminals become celebrities. Karen Webb, Moore, Ok. Subj: Question Uh...would that be Rumsfeld or Bush? Sari Re: "Chemical Ali" Rises From the Dead! Dear BuzzFlash, Okay, let me explain this to "ya'll". Saddam, OBL, VII's (Very Important Iraqi's as dubbed by the matrix) are only to be captured between the hours of 9:00-4:30 p.m. EST These people are to never be captured on a saturday, a sunday or in the evening. They are only to be captured when the stock market is tumbling (which is what happened today) and/or the pre market stock futures are negative (as was the case yesterday, I forget which one it was yesterday, only about the 150th time one of those two been caught) and/or negative economic data and/or negative info on a bellwether company (cult favorite stock of fund managers and wall street used to fleece sheeple, ex: Intel, Cisco). More often than not, the financial news outlets report these captures before everyone else. Why? Because the NYSE trading floor is where this info starts. Have to keep stocks propped up so the "preferred" customers can distribute (sell) there stocks to the suckers, uh, meant investors. Watch for yourself. See if any of these people are ever captured when the DOW is up 100 points or Nasdaq up 30 points. It NEVER happens. Of course this is just one of the ways wall street pumps and dumps stocks. They don't want to be the bag holders. just my opinion, but I suspect many of these "so called" most wanted Iraqi's whereabouts are known because they were bribed, oops, meant to say, paid a salary/reward for info and are living a life better than most americans. Every so often, one is brought out of the freezer for the reason noted above doug in denver Subj: "War words and images are a public trust" BuzzFlash, "Americans are dogs" the funeral crowd of 3,000 chanted. Very handsome and very brave Mazen Dana, the 41 year old Reuters cameraman killed at close range by US GIs in Baghdad, was a hero to everyone who knew him. Especially his wife and four children. Senior management from Reuters attended his burial in Palestine. His brother fainted. And said that Mr. Dana knew the locations of mass graves of Iraqis--US dug graves--and that's why he was killed. In 11/2001 Mr. Dana was one of four in the world who received an International Press Freedom Award for courage and independence in news reporting. Reuters management said that he was, "simply the best of his generation." At the awards ceremony Mr. Dana said: "...in the quest for truth against those who seek to stifle it...to be a journalist and cameraman...requires great sacrifices. Gunfire, humiliation, beatings...the destruction of journalists' equipment are just some of the hardships...Words and images are a public trust...for this reason I will continue with my work." Cheney was the chief instigator of stifling press controls in both Iraqi Wars. There's a lot at stake. Halliburton, from which its former CEO Cheney still receives $1 million a year, was granted big time, no-bid, sweetheart deals in both wars. In 2002 Halliburton lost $498 million. In the second quarter of 2003 Halliburton (Iraq was attacked on 3/17/03) had a profit of $26 million. And Bush Inc. is just ramping up. As Rumsfeld's special assistant Lawrence Di Rita said: "We've always thought of post-hostilities as a phase. The future of war is that these things are going to be much more of a continuum...This is the future for the world...We'll get better as we do it more often." This is Bush War & Oil Inc's chilling vision for the future of the world. The entire planet is watching the hell-on-earth Bush's oil-lust has created for innocent Iraqis. The entire world sees heroes, humanitarians, innocents, and children being placed in early graves to profit obscenely rapacious madmen. Suzanne, San Francisco Subj: BuzzFlash reader...to shirley(gas jump) Thank you so much....I have gotten enormous amounts of help from this website, just the discourse back and forth..and especially from someone who knows...the person who used to work for a gas co. I am saving it, to use when I am able to, to get to Lacede Gas co...here..and since they are all monopolies...they can set anything they want! But, I will do it! I can't hop right now...fractured spine in two places...but the doctor has treated me with some pain killers and other antibiotic prescriptions. Other than that....it seems the war in Iraq will be neverending...nothing that surprises me! Love you all for all you do... Shirley.............St. Louis Subj: Ashcroft "Life & Liberty" website BuzzFlash, Did you see the website created to defend the Patriot Act (part of Ashcroft's promotion tour)? If not, you MUST look at it at http://www.lifeandliberty.gov. At the top, there's a quote from the Declaration of Independence as follows:
Here's what comes after "Governments are instituted..." as penned by Thomas Jefferson:
Sickening in its irony, no? P.S. -- when I start my new job next month, I'm sending some financial support. People like me would have little knowledge about what's really going on without sites like BuzzFlash. Sincerely, Cathy Vance BuzzFlash, Chalabi is usually not recognized as a reliable source. But if this startling piece of information is true, it means two things: 1) The Americans in Iraq knew about an attack, and did nothing to try to prevent it. 2) The UN itself didn't know anything about it, according to Fred Eckhard, spokesman for secretary general Kofi Annan: "To my knowledge, that information was not relayed to the United Nations." The frightening possibility that Chalabi knew it, the Americans knew it, the UN didn't and the Americans did nothing to improve security at the UN headquarters will only benefit one player: the Pentagon, according to which Iraq is now the central battle in the "war against terrorism". And right on cue, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and US Central Command chief General John Abizaid, in a joint briefing, declared Iraq now to be a sort of terrorist Woodstock. From : vgdesign Read This News :: http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/EH23Ak01.html Subj: the honorable George W. What's the deal with holding back info that connects your family with the Saudis in the 9/11 investigation? 3. How dare you flaunt a flight suit after being AWOL. (how come you didn't do time for that?) 4. I have the solution for health insurance.. give us the same benefits YOU have! makes sense eh? Throw Dick Cheney in jail and the rest of the TEXAS energy crooks.. what about all your buddies that drained the stock market and our treasury in the last 2.5 years? why don't ya have Mr Ashcroft go after them? See you at the polls in 2004. Sincerely Mike McKinley P.S. how come none of your children are fighting in the OIL wars in the mid-east? (perhaps they are next in line to for a cushy job at ENRON or HALLIBURTON) Subj: Wonder what's brewing Dear BuzzFlash It makes me very nervous when I think that George "Whopper" Bush will be coming out of Crawford and all that fund raising very soon. Last time he went to Crawford for his vacation, his dishonest administration concocted the reasons to start a disastrous war against Iraq, which still rages on, and our troops are still in danger and being killed everyday. I wonder what what evil plans are being hatched by Karl "Rasputin" Rove, and what we americans have in store this year, after all it will be election year very soon, and the way this administration has functioned, they have nothing really to boast about as their policies are failing, and people are getting wiser by the day. So fellow americans I would advice you to be prepared for more devious plots and schemes that will come out of the white house after labor day. The possibilities are endless........! A BuzzFlash reader Subj: Postcards Dear BuzzFlash: Just want you to know that I am having fun mailing the Bush Lied our Soldiers Died postcards all over the place and sending them to the Texas Democrats also as well as the Texas Repuglicans. Bert Re: "Bush Does Not Rule Out Corporate Tax Cuts" In 1776, we revolted against taxation without representation. Now, thanks to the Grand Old Hypocrites, corporations have representation without taxation. That's progress? Revolution, anyone? William Subj: Schwarzenegger's fictions Hello BuzzFlash staff, I wanted to thank you for your site and drop a line re: something mildly interesting I heard on NPR's Morning Edition this morning (8-22). It was a letter from a listener disputing the following story told by Arnold Schwarzenegger (and apparently taken from his own published PR material) about how he became a Republican. Here it is as told in the Newsweek article "Building Arnold", of last week:
This same story was included in a feature on candidate Arnold (which I didn't hear). But according to the listener, who served on Hubert Humphrey's press staff (his press secretary? I regret not catching the name or the position), said debates never took place, and were entirely fictitious. Two things to note here, neither shocking: A) I heard this story repeated in two different contexts, and neither time was this story checked out (how hard could it be to find out if two presidential candidates ever debated?) Another black mark for our press... B) A Republican lied, and got a pass. Keep up the good work Brandon Subj: Emails will be turned to spam because of my suggesting www.BuzzFlash.com Hello! I thought you might like to know that yesterday a person who has been emailing me articles/URLs about the California recall to which I had been replying with articles/URLs from you, www.BuzzFlash.com, has decided to add my email address to her spam list and has told me that all emails from me will be sent to her spam list and will not be read. (Sorry for the long sentence!) Just thought you might like to know a person who had her email address added to a spam list because she likes your web site! Keep up the good work! Love, Peace, Aimee L.

Call it cut-and-paste cronyism. But newspaper editors should just love this feature. It makes it that much easier for them to be bootlicking bush sycophants! Keep up the great work! I love BuzzFlash!!! Nancy |
