Subj: Lieberman says he's "more right than ever" -- LoL Dear BuzzFlash, I guess Joe just doesn't see the irony in this quote for those of us who believe the Democratic Party is for those whose views are Left and Center Left:
A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: The California Mess Buzz, With due thought I believe that the only real way to end this mess is for the Democrats to announce now that if a Republican wins the election, they (the Dems) will begin an immediate recall petition as the Repub was not elected by a majority. Only a scorched earth policy will stop this nonsense. Michael Subj: Bush Speaks, Media Fawns Bush called the persons responsible for the bombing in Baghdad "enemies of the civilized world." Guess that proves once and for all the truth of the old saying "takes one to know one." And what can one say about the media? Bush calls this an act of terrorism, and the media acts as if he has made a perceptive, intelligent observation. The ABC report repeated the phrase "president calls it terrorism" no less than seventy-nine times. What a shock! Terrorism in Baghdad. What, pray tell, should he have thought it was -- another First Energy faux pas? A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: CNN spinning the UN bombing? when the news first broke, the reporting by cnn commentators was that it was believed that visiting congressmen/women were actually visiting the un building at the time of the bombing. they even interviewed by phone at least 2 -- one of whom was kay bailey hutchinson of texas. now, 2 hours later, they [cnn] are completely disregarding that info [after the reps bugged out of baghdad, scurrying for the safety of kuwait], and now appear to be so puzzled that the un, who is there to help - they overemphasize, would be the target....which adds to the aura of how even more evil the al quaida and other terrorists are. why be puzzled: if the US has indeed declared war on terror, why not acknowledge that perhaps the likely targets were US congresspersons, and that the UN were just so much collateral damage. it makes more common sense. terrorists are bad enough without having to appear "puzzled" by their behavior -- therefore demonizing them further -- and giving a unspoken nod of approval to bush's insane war on terror. a buzzflash reader Subj: commentary on rancher "bush" BuzzFlash, I remember when Shrub was running for governor he went Dove hunting and shot a Killdeer. Anybody who has grown up on or around a ranch in west texas knows the difference. We always laughed when the city slickers join us at the watering hole with their 4x4's, camo and expensive shotguns. To the city slickers a bird is a bird. As my memory serves me he was fined for killing a killdeer and this story was in all the local papers. Henry Noel Subj: $50 billion for energy infrastructure upgrade and current events BuzzFlash, You have to admire the audacity of the politicians and the energy companies. First, the energy monopolies (franchises) get to distribute to all of us. You can't buy energy from your neighbor, even if his price is much more favorable. Is there something wrong here? You already know it's a loaded question. Here's the status quo. Big energy companies distribute their product to us, collect taxes for their partner (government), and charge us all that the traffic will bear. This is big energy, with big (physically) production facilities, like coal, nuke, natural gas, fuel oil, etc. Actually, big and expensive. That makes them a nice investment for big money, or the status quo. Centralized distribution means centralized collection including the taxes. The taxes being the reason the government likes it. Now the top moron in the White House says the distribution lines to continue the monopolized distribution need about $50 billion of upgrade. This White House thinks the public should pay for that. Let's look at the other side of the coin. Put the $50 billion in renewable/alternative energy projects that drops the money in the communities that will be using the energy. This makes lots of jobs doing all this small wind, solar, hydro, etc., because these are all local initiatives done by local craftsmen. Since the projects are renewable/alternative energy projects, the 75% of the energy that is wasted as lost heat in the status quo system will be eliminated to the advantage of the world environment. The money not drained from the local economies by the status quo system will be spent within the local economies. Building the renewable/alternative systems will make local jobs all over the country. Maintenance of the systems will create more jobs. Who suffers from such a proposal? That would be the status quo of big energy, who also happen to own many of your favorite politicians. One more look at the question. Would you rather invest $50 billion in the status quo of fat cats, or invest $50 billion in local economies all over the country? Is this about paradigms or greed? Is the resistance to change in our energy system about the fat cats buying our decision-makers? What about the pollution benefits? What about being the first to develop, and then selling our systems to the world? Where are all the morons? Answer to last question is mostly Crawford, Texas and Washington, D. C. Dave Fagan Subj: Ann Coulter The best thing to do in regards to Ms. Coulter is to IGNORE HER! As soon as she stops getting a response every time she trips one of our hot buttons, she will dry up and blow away like the wilted imitation of a human that she really is. Regards, Bill Subj: I let them have it! Dear BuzzFlash, I let Faux News have it. This morning, on the early news, the newscaster gave a detailed report on Bush coming to Michigan to fund raise. Then she gave the number to call to make a donation. That is unmitigated gall!! In the morning report there was not one word about the photographer killed in Iraq. By now the US soldiers should be able to tell the difference between a rocket launcher and a shoulder video camera. But, you see, if these things don't get reported on here, they don't have to worry about asking any questions about these happenings . I mentioned these things in my e-mail to Faux News. And, while I am at it....Bush won't be investigated because his party owns congress, the courts, the media and the hearts of a tremendous number of numbskulls. I am with the furniture guy....Bush has to be a one-termer. Stephanie Subj: Excerpts from Altercation
A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Bush horse fear and ranch I went into the BuzzFlash mailbag -- first time I have done that -- and found some wonderful letters there. There was a letter there from a R. Talley, San Antonio, Texas, regarding the Bush ranch and his fear of horses. I found it fascinating. I wish you would send me a copy of the letter so I can forward it to all my e-mail friends. It was wonderful. I also want you to know that I am busy sending out the Bush Lied cards, as well as the others, to all I can. They are great. I sure hope many others are doing the same so that they are circulated worldwide. Ruth D BuzzFlash, Just out of curiosity I went and looked up information about Sergio Vieira de Mello (the head of the UN that was just blown up in Baghdad) and I typed scandals and Sergio Vierira de Mello in the search engine and low and behold I received the answers I wanted. He has gotten into trouble with the Bush Administration by let's say, not upholding their pristine (ha-ha) values. One article said "in March (he) made headlines when he scolded America for keeping some 650 alleged Taliban and Al Qaeda members at Guantánamo Bay in a "legal black hole," without "formal charges." If you keep reading, he doesn't support U.S. policies. Isn't it just convenient that he is blown up? They just keep getting scarier and scarier. Just some information to follow-up on. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: FRUSTRATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dear BuzzFlash, I just got home from work...we are still working...two people in their sixties...me part time...paying taxes, and got my home heating and cooking gas bill! We are on the budgeted version..and, during the nineties, it went down to $40 monthly... the one I got today was $104! I am afraid to call and find that that is what we will be paying every month from now on. I do not cook...we find with just the two of us, it is cheaper to go out and eat...and I do not have any misconceptions of being lesser of a woman if I do not cook....we wash clothes twice a week..(gas water heater) same as always...we take showers once a day (gas water heater)...this has been going on this way all the way through the Clinton Administration...what the hell has happened to natural gas?? Do Bush and Cheney own all gas...even natural gas! I am having unpure thoughts about the both of them right now...should just leave it alone. Last fall, I got my first big surprise....my homeowners insurance doubled...can you imagine? So, since I was not going to pay that...we started to pare it down, what we thought we did not need, until it was an affordable rate...now, this year that has gone up $100............It will not end, folks, until this man is impeached! You start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shirley...............St.Louis Ps...it is 95 degrees here....no home heating at this time...what is this?????????? Subj: Bombing of UN building in Iraq The AP was reporting that several members of the U.S. Congress were in Baghdad touring military sites when the explosion happened - and were scheduled to tour the U.N. facility sometime later in the day. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) was scheduled to meet with Sergio Vieira de Mello, the chief U.N. official in Iraq, who was killed in the attack. Her spokeswoman, Charla Neuman, said first that the meeting was supposed to be at the U.N. facility, but later was unclear where the meeting was supposed to happen. So, when CNN’s “Inside Politics”interviewed a member of this delegation at their retreat in Kuwait, who did they choose? Why that reliable hawk, John McCain (R-AZ), of course. Did John King ask McCain about the delegation’s destination when they were in Iraq? What ever for? The Compromised News Network is in the business of pitching the Bush administration line. The story of the day was whoever planned this bombing knew who was going to be there. If Cantwell hadn’t been late, would she have been in the UN building with de Mello? A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: "Bush never goes into town (Crawford)....just Fort Hood." And Clinton... Dear BuzzFlash, I used to live in Santa Barbara and then San Francisco near the Fairmont. Clinton would go into "The Nugget," a really cool hangout in Summerland, just one mile south of Santa Barbara. He'd play the Sax...shoot the breeze with everyone. Go for a jog on the beach..talk with the volleyball players. Sign autographs. People loved him. He was really cool. At the Nugget they keep a designated "Clinton" booth with a Sax over it and the Clinton T-Shirts are big sellers. San Francisco, same thing. I could tell when Clinton was in town because could hear the helicopters right over top of Nob Hill, and see the sharpshooters all in black on top of all the buildings. He always stayed at the Fairmont. Again, Clinton was all waves, friendly, genuinely interested in people's lives, thoughts, questions. Here's a great story: A rich GOP Black-tied and bejeweled wedding party walking the half-block from Grace Cathedral to the Pacific Union Club for wedding supper...trailed by an accordionist playing a French tune. Brilliant blue summer evening. Colorful flags of every nation blowing from top of portico at Fairmont. All the doormen in their spiffy outfits, white gloves and caps. Well-dressed people strolling in the picturesque, postage stamp park, its gorgeous fountain splashing away. A pleasant homeless guy shuffling down the street, garnering a quarter here and there..admiring the view. Clinton's motorcade comes!!! First 50 motorcycle cops. Then the Limo with the presidential flags flying. Everyone stops, smiles, waves cheers!! The accordion player breaks out in a kind of fractured but perfect "Hail to the Chief." You just felt everything was perfect, safe, sane and under control with this smart, diligent, hard working and good-hearted, spiritually generous man in charge. It was an unforgettable, fantastic scene. How it's all changed....but...Wesley Clark!!! Anyone know how tall he is?!! Suzanne, San Francisco Subj: kids over there? Hi buzz, found this posting:
please tell me - is that true? Do you know another source? Did Bush really call the soldiers "kids, over there killing and being shot at"? and the reporters should "just ask the kids"? Bevier Subj: strange goings on! dear buzz-flashers, you know - i really don´t want to become overly suspicious concerning our regime in washington...but we saw this happen before, where warnings were not headed although the gov't knew that something was going to happen and pretty much in detail, could it be ... that last night's dreadful terror act involving the un in baghdad actually could have been stopped had the warnings been heeded? that the age-old grudge of the conservatives (i was one in the 60´s - "the un is run by commies!") against the un has peaked in the bombing of last night? the bush regime has gotten off scot-free with so many things already, i wouldn't put it past them to manipulate and instigate at whim ....they are not interested in the un scoring points ANYWHERE, and least in iraq, where our bushies experience only failure. perhaps an interesting thought? regards, kim in munich germany (u.s.citizen) [BuzzFlash Note: We did hear -- on the BBC Newsnight broadcast, we think -- that the U.S. was in charge of security at UN HQ in Iraq.] Subj: Townhall.com and Newsmax.com Buzz, I think I've discovered where all those bulk purchases of Ann Coulter's books are. Townhall.com and Newsmax.com will either give them to you or sell you 3 for $1.00. Included are many other right wingnuts writings, like Sean Hannity. Roberta Subj: This will make your day. I got this from my friend Cate in Houston. HCRP stands for Harris County Republican Party. I think I would be tempted to protest the party with signs that say, "GOP, best home demolishers on the planet. First they take your job and then your home." Karen > So
tell me - is anyone else pissed about this? How low will these Subj: Bush and the Press lie, while the rest of us die!
Dear Buzz, Terrorists in Iraq have been killing our Soldiers at a rate of one per day, successfully sabotaged key areas in oil pipelines and water facilities, and bombed the Jordanian Embassy and the UN Embassy killing several. Considering this, it doesn't take much to convince me that the United States is failing in its mission in Iraq! If this isn't failure, I don't know what is! Bush and the Press lie, while the rest of us die! Nancy Lynn Nagy (TN) Subj: Yes, BuzzFlash, "KGB" Ashcroft Is Heading To My Town BuzzFlash, Here's a headline from the August 20 Des Moines Register:
Bob Jewett Subj: GOP Ethics GOP mantra:
Sweet Marie Subj: Joe Scar on Ah-nold Dear BuzzFlash: The below link is just a taste of Joe Scar on Arnold. I get the Scarborough Country newsletters (shudder) and every one contains a rant against Arnold and how he's "not a conservative." BuzzFlash certainly nailed the goosestep campaign from the start. Just as they closed ranks against Lott, the good little Thug foot soldiers are now following orders to make Arnold appear an "outsider." http://www.msnbc.com/news/954487.asp A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS? Dear BuzzFlash: I really value your site and depend on it every day to keep up to date with the various fascist policies of the Bush administration. Thanks! Speaking of those policies - which are being rolled out every day - I want to know: WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS? Where are even moderate Republicans? I realize there is opposition from the Democrats, but no where near the level it should be. As one of your headlines suggests (quoting Ed Garvey) the Democrats SHOULD take drastic action, like shutting down Congress until they get some answers and cooperation from the Bush Administration. I'd like to see a headline on BuzzFlash that doesn't get removed until the Democrats in Congress take REAL ACTION that reads: "WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS?" (or "Where is the Loyal Opposition in Congress?") It's true that mainstream media, especially TV news, does not give the Democrats proper exposure - but that could be in part because the Democrats are too timid in demanding same. Bush can only get away with his fascist policies as long as "we the people" - and our representatives in Congress - allow it. Paz! Carolyn Gray |
