Subj: The "W" word editorial

Thank you for a well-written response to the Neville Chamberlain fan club that calls itself the DLC. It is definitely time for the center of America to quit worrying about being labeled as "liberal" (which to my way of thinking is about as threatening as being labeled"healthy" or "normal") It is time to label these loudmouthed cowards back, as the lazy sons of over-privileged unearned wealth that they are, and to let the DLC go ahead and fulfill their lifelong quivering longing to join the Republican party. We won't need the likes of them when tens of millions of Americans start voting again because they can see an actual choice between real candidates who dare to have differing opinions!

Thanks again for the shot in the arm, and please add a byline to the editorial so we can thank the writer(s) for speaking truth to power in an eloquent way.

Sincerely,

James M. Reaume Jr. MD

Subj: Tucker Carlson and Hillary Clinton's book

Hey, I just heard on CNN that today Tucker Carlson is going to be eating his shoes on today's Crossfire!

Sounds like must-see TV.

Subj: OUTRAGE! CNN Leads with old, discredited Iraq-9/11 Ties!

BuzzFlash,

I was shocked to see the CNN website leading with the following story:

They captured the Iraqi intelligence officer who at one time was suspected of meeting with Mohammed Atta in Prague - although widely reported in the days following 9/11, it was quickly retracted and concluded that this meeting never occurred.

Now it's being resurrected to justify the war!

This is almost as bad as the Nigerian uranium trick they tried to pull.

Subj: A solution to the 9-11 Commission Problem with minders

"Mr. Kean and Mr. Hamilton suggested that the Justice Department was behind a directive barring intelligence officials from being interviewed by the panel without the presence of agency colleagues........"We would rather interview these people without minders or without agency people there," he said.

The obvious solution is to demand that the US government allow these people to be interviewed in Cyprus and that they be allowed to bring their families with them. Those fearing retaliation could be offered asylum in a third country.

The testimony of those bringing tape recorders should be considered suspect.

The President should urge his subordinates to give full and honest testimony without fear of reprisal.

Since the President is known to be mean and vindictive many of those testifying might seek asylum or refuse to testify without the presence of minders or tape recorders.

Subj: Bush pens black people like animals

Dear BuzzFlash,

Please, please, please give this your strongest headline. Call him for the racist coward he is!

Subject: On Goree Island, Bush Visit Sparks Anger

GOREE ISLAND, Senegal (Reuters) - bush made an eloquent speech but did not win many friends during his brief visit to Goree Island off Senegal on Tuesday.

"We are very angry. We didn't even see him," said Fatou N'diaye, a necklace seller watching dignitaries file past to return to the mainland at the end of bush's tour.

N'diaye and other residents of Goree, site of a famous slave trading station, said they had been taken to a football ground on the other side of the quaint island at 6 a.m. and told to wait there until bush had departed, around midday.

bush came to Goree to tour the red-brick Slave House, where Africans were kept in shackles before being shipped across a perilous sea to a lifetime of servitude.

He then gave an eloquent speech about the horrors of slavery, standing at a podium under a sizzling sun near a red-stone museum, topped by cannon pointing out to the sea.

The cooped-up residents were not impressed.

"It's slavery all over again," fumed one father-of-four, who did not want to give his name. "It's humiliating. The island was deserted."

"We never want to see him come here again," said N'diaye, hiking her loose gown onto her shoulders with a frown.

As the sun rose over Goree before bush's arrival, the only people to be seen on the main beach were U.S. officials and secret service agents. Frogmen swam through the shallows and hoisted themselves up to peer into brightly painted pirogues.

Normally, the island teems with tourists, Senegal's ubiquitous traders, hawkers of cheap African art, photographers offering to take pictures and all the expected trappings of a tourist hot-spot in one of the world's poorest countries.

On Tuesday, shutters on the yellow and red colonial-style houses remained shut. The cafes were closed and the narrow pier deserted, apart from security agents manning a metal detector, near the sandy beach. A gunship patrolled offshore.

"We understand that you have to have security measures, since September 11, but to dump us in another place...? We had to leave at 6 a.m. I didn't have time to bathe, and the bread did not arrive," the father-of-four said.

"We were shut up like sheep," said 15-year-old Mamadou.

Many residents compared bush's hour-long visit unfavorably to the island tour by former President Bill Clinton in 1998.

"When Clinton came, he shook hands, people danced," said former Mayor Urbain Alexandre Diagne.

Subj: Hyper-man

Dear Buzz,

The reason for the outcome of the election of 2000 was hyped (false)

The reason for the war was hyped (false)

The details of Jessica Lynch's rescue was hyped (false)

The details about why bush had to fly to the aircraft carrier were hyped (false)

The promises of how the tax cuts would help the economy were hyped (false)

So much hyping going on during this administration's watch that perhaps, in the future, we should just refer to bush as Hyper-man!

Subj: Today's Editorial

Dear BuzzFlash,

Finally, a progressive organization (don't use the "L" word around I don't own a limo and I never sent my kids to private school and I'm not part of some elite group) that breathes fire and brimstone. We're dealing with nothing than the vanguard of a neo-fascist cabal that takes no prisoners. You can't reason with these people, if you come as a calm reasoned individual they'll take that for a sense of weakness. They remind me of the playground bullies that we all had to deal with as kids. What usually happened if you confronted them by smashing them in the mouth, you got their attention and maybe struck up a nice friendship, but you first had to get their attention, that's key. So kudos to you guys, it's about time, us working class progressives are going to vote this year and next and it won't be for a DLC sponsored candidate, I'd rather see Bush reelected again than see that happen.

Dan.

Subj: Thanks for spotlighting the "slave" island

Dear Buzz,

There are so many outrages, it's hard to know where to peak, but that one remained tops with me for 2 days (even with Florida bubbling over in news!!). Elsewhere online I had rightwingers flee when I posted the penning up of the island people. They could neither praise nor denounce the racism, but like cowards they fled the quintessential portrait of their lamest of the lame "leader." Especially in contrast to Clinton's visit there!

I hope Aaron MacGruder picks this one up and runs it to the ground. I'd write to him, but I've tried and failed to get his contact info.

Subj: Louisville Kentucky Says "We Want the Truth!"

Greetings to BuzzFlash, 7/8/03

I am sending you a message about Louisville's We Want the Truth Weekend. Can you put this information on BuzzFlash as an example of how all Americans can make their voices heard at this crucial time. We know that timing is everything. Plans are coming together for this weekend's protests, just as we read that Bush finally admitted the information in his State of the Union address was bogus. Off to war we went, following a foolish arrogant president to war, based on a boatload of lies. In Louisville, we are not going to sit around and passively watch Bush and his cronies inflict their agenda on America and the world. All weekend, we will call for THE TRUTH. We want the truth and we deserve the truth. Our actions in Louisville can be a model for others as they translate their anger, frustration, and shame into collective action that will expose the Bush administration as liars who recklessly started an unprovoked war -- based on a series of lies -- against Iraq and its people.

We Want the Truth Weekend
Louisville, Kentucky
June 9-13, 2003

This weekend in Louisville, we say loud & clear--We Want the Truth. We will be visible all over the city holding up signs and banners asking, “Where are the WMDs?”and “We Want the Truth.”There is more news everyday about discrepancies in the story told by the Bush

to them about our concerns.

mental outlook”and reduces depression, anxiety, and stress. So find a friend and get out in the streets this weekend!

Subj: MAN of honor, and integrity

Dear BuzzFlash,

We are presently sitting on our collective butts and watching the Fox investigate the hen house, in regard to the 9/11 tragedy, and the Iraq disaster. Most people with half a brain know that these investigations -- even though the Committees will contain a few of the timid Democrats, who will be hiding under there desks to avoid any controversy -- that Bush and his cronies, will come out smelling like a rose. To avoid this, why not demand an independent investigation, headed by a Man that is recognized through out the world for his Honesty integrity, and dedication to the salvation of the human race? His name is JIMMY CARTER. Since he left office he is not all talk and no deeds, he has proven his Honor among men. What would it take to accomplish this? Let the Republicans try to diminish his character, or his honor -- nearly every one would acknowledge such an action as false.

Subj: Hillary is a Class Act!

How fun and refreshing to read that Hilary Clinton is gracious in her victory over the mean-spirited, immature and arrogant Tucker Carlson! [LINK] For her to provide a yummy cake in the shape of a shoe to give him a way out of having to eat an ACTUAL shoe as he bragged he would, just shows how classy she is. The Repugnants hate her and her husband, Our LAST ELECTED PRESIDENT, because she and he are beautiful, brilliant WINNERS, with class, style and truly compassionate hearts for middle Americans. Bush, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, is trailer trash compared to them.

EAT SHOES, you losers!!!!

Subj: The Terminator

Dear Buzz,

Huh? Repugs want to recall an elected governor who has born the brunt of the Bush economic policy to cut services whilst waging a grossly unpopular war and ruining our reputation far and wide and running up deficits that are record-breaking, to elect the Terminator to terminate more services?

The world has gone bonkers. A place where men get pregnant and cops run kindergartens and elections mean nothing.

Rgds,

Linda Deak

Subj: MORE MOLLY IVINS!

Please give us more Molly Ivins. She is addictive. I first saw her on the BuzzFlash C-Span Book Expo item. It was an inspired bit of genius to have Molly Ivins, Bill O'Reilly, and our favorite, Al Franken on the same panel - the good, the bad, and the not-so-ugly. I loved the part at the end where Molly politely shook the big BOR(e)'s - Bill O'Reilly's - hand (I bet she needed a very strong disinfectant to get rid of the stench) and then walked off (almost hand in hand) with Al Franken. Her level-headedness and verbosity has won over a whole new audience, myself included. I had never heard of her (ignoramus that I am), but now I can't get enough of her. I can hardly wait for her new book to come out. We need more of her kind of reporting, and BuzzFlash is the one to give it to us. Thank you, BuzzFlash, for helping us discover a true human soul who feels what we feel.

Marguerite

Subj: Git along lil' dowgie...

From your Molly Ivins interview...

"BuzzFlash: Well, let's look at the war and the use of fear prior to the war. All of a sudden, we don't seem to have terror alerts anymore. Before the war, they were like jolts of electricity coming at a rapid pace. And certainly, in retrospect, from our perspective, seemed to have been used in a manipulative fashion to evoke a constant state of fear in Americans."

Ever seen cattle-prods used to force the dumb beasts to the slaughter?

Subj: Official Lies

Dear BuzzFlash,

Joseph Wilson tells us that the document purporting Saddam trying to buy uranium from Nigeria was bogus and the CIA knew it a year before Bush used it in his state of the union address.

Then Wilson tells us he was dispatched to Africa in February. He was told Cheney made the order to make certain there were no uranium dealings between Nigeria and Iraq. Wilson wrote a report and delivered copies to the White House and a few other departments of government. That report said that dealings between the two countries was absurd.

Watch the lies pile up. A U.S. official said the report was just part of a "flood of paper" the White House gets daily. Good grief Charlie Brown, what if there is a report in a "flood of paper" indicating the US is about to be blown off the face of the earth? Hummmm, Bush and the White House may not get that information for a month?

But then of course the US official was just enacting the republican mantra, "Bush lies and we swear to it!"

~ Cathy

Subj: Faulty "Intelligence" at the White House

Hello BuzzFlash,

Have you all noticed the latest attempt to spin the phony Niger uranium document debacle?

Joseph Wilson, the former US ambassador, was sent by the CIA AT THE REQUEST OF CHENEY'S OFFICE to Niger last year to check the claims of Saddam purchasing uranium for WMD's. Mr. Wilson reported that the story was unfounded in February of 2002, NEARLY A YEAR prior to GeeDubya's State of the Union address in January, 2003.

The claims ended up in GeeDubya's address anyway.

The White House claimed to have never received the report.

Excuse ME ?!??

The White House specifically requests that an official investigate Iraqi Nuclear WMD claims, and decides to include these unsubstantiated claims in State of the Union address because they never received a response ?!??! The claim was not followed through by the White House nor by the CIA, so they decide to use it in the SOU speech anyway ?!? How possibly does this make sense? Isn't the SOU supposed to be the most vetted speech in history, especially when used as justification for a pre-emptive war?

C'mon . . . we ALL predicted there would be problems with "intelligence" at the White House if GeeDubya took over, but we didn't expect things would get THIS bad, did we ?!??

Warmest Regards,

GK, a Fervently Loyal, Devoted and Proud Liberal BuzzFlash Reader
