Subj: Keep the List Dear BuzzFlash, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! Make the listing of those who did and didn't serve our country a PERMANENT fixture on your site. This is the repugs soft spot and it needs to be brought up as MUCH as possible and used over and over in the Rush Limburger style. Can this be sent to as many outlets as possible??? Please do so. This is priceless. I'm sure most of the sheep who blindly follow this war have no idea that these are the facts. And BTW same goes for that UNBELIEVABLE little quote from that old cow barbara bush. This entire family is a bunch of despicable worms. Any wonder why little georgie is a headcase with a bloated view of his own importance?? Thanks and please keep up the good work, you keep me sane. Phil Rowland Dear Buzz, In "Yesterday's Emergency Has Been Cancelled Due to Political Inconvenience," P.M. Carpenter makes the point that the administration of Governor Bush has opted to erase history by means of an after-the-fact bait and switch about why we've embarked upon on unprovoked invasion (excuse me, I mean "regime change") of Iraq -- it's no longer weapons of mass destruction; now it's Liberation. This calls to mind the writings of noted conservative scholar Thomas Sowell, who said that a People's Republic is a place where yesterday's weather can be changed by decree, and that a National Liberation Front is a group that attempts to impose a People's Republic. Who would have ever thought of our United States of America as a People's Republic? Or the Bush Administration as a (Rich) People's Liberation Front? Jon Krampner Open Letter to KERRY: Stand Firm on "Regime Change" Last week MSNBC's Keith OLBERMANN blasted Senator KERRY for his "regime change" statement, saying among many bashing things that "Regime change is for czars, not for Commander in Chief." This week, Thomas OLIPHANT, similarly presumably giving the word the connotation of "tyranny," castigated the Senator for calling the BUSH Administration a "regime." From Webster's-----regime: "Mode of rule or management; the prevailing governmental or social system." That's all. Perhaps the Senator might have just said, "change of Administration," instead of confusing everybody with a dreaded French word. It is clear that the GORE-ing of Senator KERRY has started and will go into fever pitch once this little war and the ones following are mopped up. The media agenda is full for now, what with the tipping of all those Saddam statues, then the endless interviews of Private LYNCH to come, but SOON right after those items, Senator KERRY can expect the full MOABs to be detonated all just for little old him. It would be the most effective of all for Senator KERRY to FACE DOWN the pettiness by reading, to the first available media wingnut, the dictionary definition of "regime". But it needs to be SOON, before the dictionaries broaden the usage, the way "new-kew-lar" is now acceptable. John Garza Dear Buzz, This is how ridiculous the hawks at MSNBC (specially the whore David Kay): They are calling the 13 cans of whatever they found WMD. So let me get this straight, Saddam is going to be obliterated for 13 cans he never used? These people are unreal. Sincerely, Jon Sebastian Subj: Overtime Law Dear Buzzers, Please call your senator and tell him/her that you are against the proposed change in the overtime laws. The House just passed a measure, behind Americans backs, as they were glued to the back of couches during televised war coverage, that employers can ask you to work over 40 hours a week for free. If the employer wants you to work 95 hours a week and pay for 40, he or she can force you to do that and tell you that if you don't you will be fired. Call your senator at www.senate.gov and tell them this had better not pass in the Senate. We are paying their salaries with our taxes and if necessary, they had better filibuster this thing. If you are too busy to call, then you will be lots busier at work and you will be working for free. What a way to stifle democracy. Working mothers, who depended on overtime, for example, will now find they are working longer hours under threat of termination, and they will be working for lower take home pay. Call your senator now and oppose this change in the 40 hour work week please. mev Subj: Where is the Hugger in Chief? Well, our first brave soldiers, killed in action, arrived in their coffins this weekend. One of the first funeral services for the young Marines from So Ca. was held today. There were many family members present, and all needed "a hug". So where was the hugger in chief? Ireland. With Tony Blair. Maybe Blair needed a hug more than the mourning family members? A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Norm Coleman Dear BuzzFlash Could you please do those of us in Minnesota a favor and get on Norm Coleman for the following statement: "To be very blunt and God watch over Paul's soul, I am a 99 percent improvement over Paul Wellstone," Coleman said. "Just about on every issue." It's from Roll Call. http://www.rollcall.com/issues/48_79/news/1172-1.html He's so disgusting he makes me want to puke. Perhaps you'd have something more constructive to say? Thanks, Javier Morillo Subj: Dennis said this on Saturday! Buzz: I considered it a REAL honor to meet our Next President, Dennis Kucinich, last Saturday. He spoke to an overflowing crown at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. One fact he brought out blew my mind. Dennis said that Bush has decided to impose a SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE SYSTEM in our soon to be "Commonwealth of Iraq". Buzz, I'm curious...If a SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE SYSTEM is GOOD ENOUGH for our newest "commonwealth", why isn't it good enough for the rest of the USA? Buzz, that $ure ha$ me ¢uriou$! JOE BACON Subj: Rebuilding The United States says it is taking precautions to avoid civilian casualties, but Baghdad's hospitals are packed to overflowing with wounded residents of the capital. One of them is Ali Ismaeel Abbas, 12, who was fast asleep when a missile obliterated his home and most of his family, leaving him orphaned, badly burned and missing both his arms. "Can you help get my arms back? Do you think the doctors can get me another pair of hands?" Abbas asked. "If I don't get a pair of hands I will commit suicide," he said with tears spilling down his cheeks. So Bush, can you help him get a new pair of hands? Blair? Aznar? Karimov? Can Halliburton "rebuild" his arms? Anyone? Helen Subj: Give 'em Hell, Kerry I like the term "Give em hell, Kerry". It is about time a Democrat took those manipulative, conniving, lying Republicans and stood up to them. Too often, Democrats shrink every time Cheney Barks or Bush snorts. They always apologize and go on campaigning for the GOP. Well, not John Kerry. Your voice is refreshing, Senator Kerry. You stick to your principles. Never compliment Bush on anything he does. Everything he does is bad for the American people. Go Kerry go. Ask Bush and Cheney where they were during Vietnam, while you went over there risking your life for their sorry useless chickenhawk posteriors? Make a long list of his failures and attack those failures, but you must drive that point home DAILY. Every day you must hammer away at Bush's mistakes. You must attack his weaknesses relentlessly. We are tired of nice guy Democrats. We are sick of Gephardt and Lieberman, cheerleaders for Bush. Go get em Kerry! mev Subj: Finally, something to smile about Dear Buzz, Man, I am turning into one sick puppy - grinning from ear to ear. Between Babs Bush and soon-to-be-divorced Neil "family values" Bush, W. must really be having a bad day. But the thing that has me cracking up is---the Great Pesticide Caper. Yes, those barrels in Iraq that made the guards sick turned out to be pesticide, although I just saw CNN headline News say that "it could still turn out to be some kind of nerve gas". Well, yes, pesticides will do that, but I doubt that is what Shrub was hoping for. To his credit, and I hate to say it, I did hear Mr. Rumsfeld earlier today state that we should calm down about those barrels- the testing hadn't been completed and there have been other false positives before. One other thing to smile about- there is a House hearing on C-Span right now and the Democrats are hitting the Republican budget cuts to Veterans health care with both barrels. Now some Repug is on, screaming about how wonderful W. is and how he is protecting the world. (From what- pesticide?) Ooh, he just said something about the Dream Team- Bush and Cheney. I think he is going to have a stroke any minute now- someone must have thrown some actual facts at him. Oh God, now he is talking about tearing up, and Jessica Lynch, and, and, oh man, there goes my smile. May need a barf bag soon. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Smoking Gun Anyone notice that Yahoo ran the smoking gun headline today? Then they had the retraction that said that the barrels of "sarin" were actually pesticide. Then, the pesticide story disappeared and they continued to run the original story about finding barrels of sarin. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Making Our "Allies" Look Like Idiots Hi BuzzFlash. I love your website. It's my new favorite and I'm telling everyone I know about it. I'm an American living in Copenhagen, Denmark and I just thought I'd tip you guys off to the most LUDICROUS story in case you don't already know about it. You know how Denmark is part of the coalition of the willing? What a joke. P.M. Rasmussen has gone WAY out on a political limb by supporting the U.S. in the face of mass skepticism and suspicion of America on the homefront. I mean, people are generally vehemently opposed to this war. So anyways, Denmark has had this Iraqi named Nizar al-Khazraji on house arrest forever now on suspicion of being a war criminal because of his military leadership position when the Kurds were gassed. He is supposed to be tried as a war criminal soon. But it's been reported in the international press in the past year that the U.S. wants this guy to possibly head up a new Iraqi government despite his shady past. So of course, you'll never guess what. Low and behold, this guy goes for a walk to smoke a cigarette one day and never comes back. His disappearance has the citizens of Denmark in an absolute uproar. People are screaming for an MP Lena Espersen to resign and demanding answers as to where this guy went. This whole thing is causing major problems for the Prime Minister and his ruling government coalition. I have naturally suspected all along that the Avatars of Shade, aka the CIA were responsible but the American Embassy has been steadily denying all knowledge of the incident in response to inquiries made by the Danish government. Yet, suddenly yesterday a classified CIA document is leaked to the Danish press and everyone finds out that America has naturally screwed over its own ally. Denmark is a small country and people here are very prickly about that fact. There is widespread outrage over this revelation. I cut and pasted a little excerpt about the incident from the Copenhagen Post in case you're interested.
A BuzzFlash Reader Copy of letter to Editor NY Times Editor: What the hell do you mean by your headline "Public Seems to Tolerate War's Death Toll" (4/8/03)? Considering whether we "tolerate the war's death toll" is as idiotic as the question "do you support the war"? The answer to both questions is "Do we have a choice"? If I could not support the war, by not paying federal income tax, you bet I would not support it. By the way, Enron did not pay federal income tax the last several years they were in business. Enron, some of whose executives are close associates of the appointed president, therefore does not support the war. Shame on them. For the record, New York Times, people I know are NOT tolerating the war's death toll, either US deaths or Iraqi deaths. How about reporting that? Dennis Henize Subj: Are we crazy for knowing that Bush "sold" this war to the public? Buzz: I have a young friend at Ft. Stewart in Georgia and we are praying that she won't be sent to the Gulf. She is in the reserves and when she attempted to get out last year, she couldn't because "King" George had put a freeze on those who wanted out (I suppose his buddies were knee deep in planning this war and knew that they would need all able bodies). Her mother tells me that the barracks are so decrepit that the troops have to go to a different barrack to shower! Also, recently one of the young women was raped one evening while going to shower. If the Bush administration is so concerned about "caring" for the people of Iraq, why don't they show the same concern for our troops? The media is so "embedded" with this attack on Iraq and with Dubya that they are readily "selling" this war. And sadly, the American people....if the polls are to be believed...have "bought" all of the lies that are being sold!! If there is a light at the end of this gruesome tunnel, would somebody please let me know? Is this insane or are we the crazies for seeing through Dubya's schemes? Dee Turner Dear BuzzFlash, The following is a copy of what I just sent to Mr. Marc Racicot, Chair of the Republican National Committee [via http://www.rnc.org/contact/contact.htm] concerning his opinion -- http://www.rnc.org/Newsroom/Releases/April03/Racicot040303.htm -- of Sen. John Kerry's recent remarks about President Bush. While I personally believe Sen. Kerry "sold out" last October with his affirmative vote on the Iraq resolution, I do agree with the Senator's remarks about domestic regime change. Might I suggest you consider sending Mr. Racicot your own views. Dana Briggs
Dear BuzzFlash, Jeez was this an interesting one! I am going to try to answer some of these brilliant writers . . . they are all so good! 1. Scream and yell, John Kerry..but do not let up, do not let them get to you ..we need leaders more than anything right now...democrats who will be democrats! 2. Betty...thank you so much for the "Let freedom ring" picture of the greatest President we have had in my time...It was worth this awful day! 3. Tom Koop...Norm Coleman does not have the brains to understand what you were even saying. 4. CAH: I love it. Repub bird! Yellow backed, awol, draft dodging, chicken s***, chicken hawks...what a great start...every one get on the wagon! 5. Total bullshit awareness, Tony thanks for the long list of Chickenhawks. Speaking of: dirtbag Sean Hannity actually had the nerve to have the young man on his show tonight who is the conscientious objector...would not go to this war! Sean was just crucifying him..and the young man was not at all shaken by it...I just wish this kid had known the record...and could have come back at him with it! 6. Mark Racicot is a doofus ninny nut...pay him no mind. His is on the payroll of the chickenhawks. 7. Randi: obviously, Limbaugh has a brain problem...he sits on it!!! 8. And once again...Mr. Westermann, thank you for your brilliant, ironic input...I love your thought process...let us hear from you often. 9. And finally, thank you Robert E. Olson...the picture was horrid, but worth it! Love you all...........Shirley...........St.Louis Subj: Speaking Out! BuzzFlash, I admire the courage of Kelly C. [Ed. from yesterday's Mailbag] to speak out about the Iraq war at work. There are many people I know that are afraid to make waves. And I can understand that. There is a real danger of alienating your co-workers and even getting fired. It has to be a personal decision. But on how to handle the response she mentioned: I would start by printing out a few articles from major newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Washington Post, Business Week, and New Yorker. The statement by Hans Blix on the forged document or the speech by senator Byrd might be good starting points for discussion. What I think is so great about BuzzFlash is that it provides links to all these respected news sources. During the Vietnam war I spoke out frequently at work. Then you really had to dig to find out the facts. What is incredible to me now is that the truth is so easily available in printed media and yet people are turned into zombies by television. Freedom of the press can't work if nobody reads. Larry Re: time to bust the GOP's ass about Kerry I posted the following on this site. I'm going to send the comment site (http://www.gop.com/sendyourthoughts/) around to everyone including Move-on with suggestion that to ask everyone of the members to visit this site and screed them back! Americans, elected officials or private citizens have an obligation to speak their minds and publicly address matters of the public record with which they disagree. Regardless of the GOP's truly un-American efforts to paint any dissent with the Presidents policies or statements as un-American, dissent in our great land will not be quelled. Democratic leaders such as Daschle, Gephardt and Kerry must represent their constituents, many of who strongly disagree with the presidents domestic policies. The idea that it is un-American to criticize the president because we are at war is absurd. War is not a blanket authorization for the president to demand unwavering support for any policy; domestic, foreign or military. It should not be necessary for me to remind you that the Declaration of Independence states that:
It is dissent that is only gleaned from the vigilant study of the facts and actions of an un-just president that consistently acts against interests of vast the majority of the nation he claims to love and represent, that is truly pro-American. In summation, the Democratic leaders are constitutionally obligated, protected and thoroughly right in their exhortations against a president whose actions and agenda are questioned by a great many of their constituents. It is not un-American in any form for them to do so. It is entirely un-American to suggest otherwise. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Corrupt Norm Coleman thinks he's 99% improvement over Wellstone! Web site contact form for the vermin of Minn. That scumbag is not good enough to be a door mat for Paul Wellstone. http://coleman.senate.gov/contact/index.cfm
Personally, I am shocked and saddened by this comment. Please pass it on and if you feel like you want to do something about it, you can call Coleman's office and leave a comment. His number is (202) 224-5641. The entire article may be viewed at http://www.rollcall.com/pub/48_79/news/1172-1.html Washington,
