Dear BuzzFlash Readers,

Joshua Micah Marshall's Washington Monthly article, "Practice to Deceive," reflects a growing speculation that chaos in the Middle East is a custom-tailored crisis brought to you by the neocons at PNAC. Assuming that this theory is true, do you think that it may be possible that the Bush Administration has deliberately bombed this hornet's nest with the intention of invoking terror attacks on American soil?

Before you dismiss my question as crazy (which I pray it is!!) please take into consideration the fact that FEMA, an organization created "to assure the survivability of the United States government in the event of a nuclear attack on this nation," also has the ability to assume Executive Authority and suspend the Constitution in the event of "domestic disasters." If a disaster (such as a major terror attack) occurred during a critical time for the Bush Administration (for example, just prior to the 2004 election) this could be quite politically advantageous for the Administration that disenfranchised 60,000 African American voters during the 2000 presidential election and aggressively attacks our Constitution on a daily basis.

I am not asking you entertain my theory, only to read more about the powers of FEMA (my personal favorite being Executive Order 110000 which "allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision"). If you are as alarmed by this information as I am, please encourage others to educate themselves and continue this dialogue.

Subj: DIXIE CHICKS--"More Love"

Dear Buzz,

"Just look out around us People fighten' their wars
They think they'll be happy
When they've settled their scores
Let's lay down our weapons
That hold us apart
Be still for just a minute
Try to open our hearts..."

"...If there's ever an answer
It's more love..."

Part of the lyrics of the song "More Love" on the DIXIE CHICKS most recent album, "Home".

Buy it, it's great!

Subj: Pinstripes

Dear BuzzFlash,

Yes oh Yes, I have noticed the pinstripes. I have personally attributed it to the "follow the leader" retardation of the right wingnuts. But. . . . I hadn't (yet) attributed it to the gangsterism symbolism. I would call your observation right on!

Beware, though, that this type of conversation is JUST WHAT THEY WANT. We spin our wheels talking about their clothes and fashions while they make another run at our treasury. The supplemental open check bill before Congress today is a much better story.

Many thanks to Senator Byrd for calling it as he sees it on the floor of the Senate. I only wish more senators were like him: BRAVE AND PROTECTIVE OF OUR CONSTITUTION.

Subj: Something else about the USA Article

When reading the "Strain of Iraq war showing on Bush, those who know him say" article, one phrase in particle jumped out at me.

He's frustrated when armchair generals or members of his own team express doubts about U.S. military strategy. At the same time, some of his usual supporters are concerned by his insistence on sticking with the original war plan.

Does this reflect the mind of the author or the subject?

Someone who never served (just because he forced his way into the National Guard doesn't mean he "served") complains about armchair generals?

Did I miss the Rod Serling introduction somewhere?

Michael

Subj: Proper Word Usage

Buzz,

I have seen the word "embedded" used in connection with the journalists covering the invasion of Iraq. Given the controlled, compliant nature of the lap-dog bitch media as they grovel before the Bush junta, the proper verbiage should be "in bed," not "embed."

Also, I have seen references to the "Washington Press Corps." Wrong again. The proper word is "corpse," NOT "corps."

Proper utilization of the correct words is important in order the counter the Bush junta spin masters.

Subj: Dixie Chicks

Hi BuzzFlash:

I really haven't paid much attention to what my grandchildren listen to in music. Rightly so, I didn't know the Dixie Chicks. I knew they were pretty, but when all this petty stuff came out about what was said, and the boycott of their CD, I took note.

I read the almost apology, and loved every bit of it. Pretty and smart, also.

This Grandmother went and bought her first Dixie Chicks CD. This is my protest against the boycott, which is also a protest against Bush's insanity war.

Thank you Dixie Chicks. You made this Grandmother proud of the younger generation of women, who have brains as well as talent, and know how to use them.

Subj: PFC Lynch Rescue

NPR reported that her rescuers "fought their way in and out". The BBC reported the hospital staff where Ms Lynch was being held took special forces unit to her bedside. What are we supposed to make of this?

Quilp

[BuzzFlash Note: Maybe, in true White House spin/Hollywood fashion, they fought their way to the front doors, where a throng of large-breasted, blond Iraqi nurses welcomed the gritty, sweaty, war-ravaged soldiers with refreshing drink (a Coke, perhaps?) and song, while simultaneously leading them through the glimmering, over-lit halls to an angelic-choir-filled room where the wounded, yet still Midwest-sweet Lynch-nymph awaited their marketing and PR needs. Hey, anyone have a contact at William Morris?]

Subj: Peter Arnett

An Open Letter to Senator Jim Brunning

Try Arnett for treason, senator

Dear Sen. Brunning,

I was stunned to read that you said Peter Arnett should be tried for treason, if he should set foot back in the US. What Mr. Arnett said and did, he has since apologized for. What he said was true, he just probably should have given second thoughts to saying it on Iraqi tv. It is certainly not a treasonable offense, by any stretch of the imagination. You have put yourself on the level of ignorance of Bill O'Reilly, who said Peter Arnett should be shot.

The real danger to this country are people like you, Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and other right wing wackos. You would like nothing better than to deny freedom of speech to anyone in this country that disagrees with you or this administration. You dress yourself up in the flag and sound all of this patriotic blather, when in fact, you are the farthest thing from what patriotism is all about. You don't have a clue what real patriotism is. You are part of an element that is so dangerous to our society that it frightens me. I recognize you for what you are. The sad part is that there are many in this country that don't --- not yet, that is.

Subj: Jessica Lynch's "rescue"?

Dear Buzz,

I'm reading the story of the "heroic rescue" of POW(?) J. Lynch and scratching my head. She was in a hospital with broken limbs! She was not imprisoned - was she? There is no mention of imprisonment, or the hospital being turned into a prison, or any suggestion that she was mistreated by the bad Iraqis. What am I missing in this feel-good story?

If anything, it seems that Iraqis saved her life and kept her out of harms way by placing her under medical care - until our heroes bravely "rescued" her and moved her to another hospital, this time in Germany. I'm sure Lynch is better off in a German hospital and I admit the story is a good propagandist photo-op, but somehow both the dangers and the heroism seem overblown a bit.

A perplexed reader.

Subj: Fundamentalists & The War

Dear BuzzFlash,

Thanks for the story on the "Christianizing" planned for Iraq. I'm sure the people we've been bombing will appreciate the gesture offered by Franklin Graham, etc.

I noticed on the WorldNetDaily.com site an advertisement for the new Pat Robertson book, while TownHall.Conservatives is advertising the latest "Left Behind" book about the End Times. Is the X-tian right now running the country? Before you laugh, consider the number of international television networks these kooks run (CBN, etc.), and the fact that W is one of them. Now they are selling their wares on conservative websites, meeting with Israeli officials and planning to convert Muslims once we've crushed them and taken over their country.

This is like a nightmare we can't wake up from, so continue to do what you can to see that the truth gets out there, and continue to pay attention to Robertson, Graham, LeHay, et. al., since they seem to be major players in all this, and THEY ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE END OF THE WORLD!

Dear Buzz,

I don't think you linked this yet, but now we're naming Iraqi babies:

There were moments of humanity, as well, in the 2-week-old war. In Nasiriyah, American snipers summoned help for an Iraqi woman in labor in a pickup truck. Navy Hospitalman 1st Class Kyle Morris delivered a healthy baby and named her "America."

Subj: An interesting tie

Regarding BuzzFlash reader commentary "Profiles in Prophecy: Which Armageddon Angle Is Right For You?" (3/7/03)....

The author mentioned "Phoenix Rising" as one source of prophecy, and specifically mentioned the terrorist attacks. I searched for keywords "phoenix rising" on google, and this Washington Post article surfaced. The article is entitled "Phoenix Rising", and it details the rebuilding of the Pentagon after 9/11. Hey, I was amused.

A BuzzFlash Reader

Dear BuzzFlash,

I perfectly agree with BuzzFlash's analysis of the current political situation in your editorial. When you say the Democratic leaders don't have a clue, I would say it is an understatement.

Now thinking a little ahead, I would say, only way to save the country is to remove the Bush cartel from power in 2004 election. Now the question is, is there anybody out there who can bring this about? Only hope I see is Gov Howard Dean. He is the only one who is bold enough to take the bully in the White House and bring back freedom and constitutional government back in our country. I only hope Dean understand's the formidable task he is facing, least of which is getting the majority vote for him. Some of the tactics Bush Cartel may use are the following:

1. Severely intimidate and physically restrain or remove minority voters so that minorities will not able to vote at all. "Hey we need to have security and of course stop voter fraud".

2. Tamper with the electronic voting machines as it has been allegedly happened in the last mid term. So it won't matter the majority of the Americans voted Democratic, the machines will still show a Republican majority.

3. Bring about another "War" mania and bogus "Patriotism" fever. Remember there is still Iran, Syria and North Korea to be taken care of. In fact the Bush Cartel has already started thinking about a war with N Korea. What are these Democratic fatheads going to do if Bush Cartel starts a war with Korea. Nobody will be able to say anything because everybody has already said we need to go war with N Korea but not with Iraq. "Ok so now we are going to war with N Korea, just like you guys said; Nobody got any objection, right ?" And what other better time to start this than in next summer or fall?

4. I am not going to say anything about the "liberal media", which effectively defeated Al Gore in 2000 even before the vote count was finished.

5. Last but not least, there is the Supreme Court. So even if you are voted out of power, you can always expect help from Scalia and the gang. I wouldn't be surprised by a judgement (mostly 5 to 4) like, "We hereby award the election to G W Bush, because he is more God fearing than the other candidate."

6. And finally his "favorite philosopher" may come to help him. I am talking about Jesus Christ. For some people, it does not matter that Christ taught "Love your enemies", "Help the poor and homeless", "Give away all your wealth and follow me". For them it does not matter this so called God loving guy in the White House has caused the deaths of many innocents, taken away money from the poor, sided with the richest of the rich, amassed immense wealth through questionable means and most of time has told plain lies. For these self serving pretenders the God is always with Mr Bush.

I don't know how Dean plans to overcome all these. Looking at him Dean is natural, charismatic and bold. In any fair election he has more than a good chance of winning. I only hope he takes into account the above known and some yet to discovered tactics.

BALL OF CONFUSION (THAT'S WHAT THE WORLD IS TODAY)

The Temptations - 1970

People moving out,
People moving in.
why, because of the color of their skin
run, run, run but you sho' can't hide

An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,
vote for me and I'll set you free
rap on, brother, rap on

The only person talking about love thy brother is the preacher
and it seems nobody's interested in learning but the teacher

segregation, determination, demonstration, intergration,
Aggravation, humiliation, obligation to our nation

Ball of confusion, oh yeah
That's what the world is today, hey

The sale of pills are at an all time high
young folks walking round with their heads in the sky
the cities ablaze in the summertime, and oh
the beat goes on

evolution, revolution, gun control, sound of soul
shooting rockets to the moon
kids growing up too soon
politicians say more taxes, will solve everything
and the band played on

So, round and around and around we go
where the world's headed, nobody knows

Oh, Great Googamooga, can't you hear me talking to you
just a ball of confusion, oh yeah
that's what the world is today, hey

Fear in the air, tension everywhere
unemployment rising fast, the Beatles new record's a gas
and the only safe place to live, is on an indian reservation
and the band played on

Eve of destruction, tax deduction
city inspectors, bill collectors
mod clothes in demand,
population out of hand,
suicide, too many bills
hippies moving to the hills
people all over the world are shouting end the war
and the band played on

Oh, Great Googamooga, can't you hear me talking to you
just a ball of confusion,
that's what the world is today, hey

Subj: Mischief

I have half a mind to play a prank, but one that has a point. I am considering circulating a petition to send to oh, say, Canada or ... France, asking them to preemptively invade America to liberate Democrats.

Think it might take the edge off those Right Wingers' appetite for 'liberating' other countries? Nah. They won't even get the point. But I might do it anyway, just because it amuses me. And because Democrats have been choked off.

Subj: Speedy Pilots

Hi BuzzFlash -

Ms. Munro-Leighton stated: "We are left to wonder if the American pilot will be disciplined for his actions."

Look into what's happened in regard to the 4 Canadians killed in Afghanistan at the hands of two US pilots who were stoned on speed (amphetamines) provided by good old Uncle Sam. They are facing Court Marshall as it was found they had disobeyed a direct order. Who is to know what the outcome will be in this one. It would seem this pilot was " speeding" too.

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/2020/DailyNews/2020_pilotpills021220.html

Funny how I can't drive a truck while using these things, but they can fly fighter jets. Alrighty then.

As for DU use and it's legality, I question the weapons grade Anthrax that was used in the mail attacks post 9/11 and how it comes to be that the only labs in the world capable of producing the stuff are found in the USA. Strangely, it's been said that only a handful of people would have access to this stuff, and yet nobody has ever been charged.

Biological and chemical WMD are also illegal by UN agreement. But then sadly it seems, in the eyes of the US, the UN is irrelevant.

Best of luck to all.

Subj: Two Words That Go Hand in Hand. . .Hypocrisy-Republican

Buzz:

I wanted to send this to Mike Malloy, but he is on vacation and I know this would upset him, but this is so Republican/Bush that I think it needs protesting.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/Politics/foreignaffairs/story/0,11538,928576,00.html

It seems that Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite, the one who wanted to dig up the dead military men in France, now supports an award for Blair, along with Dole.

These people make me sick. If I had a child in this war, I think I would probably be serving a life sentence for something. I am not sure what. The word stupid just doesn't cover this Republican administration any more. People are dying everyday and these empty headed women, probably at the request of Bush and his henchmen, to come up with this award for Blair.

Instead of our military praying for Bush, why don't they pray for Blair and kneel to Bush while doing it. These Bastards just won't quit. They have no class. They have no feelings. They need to be impeached and go straight to jail.

Subj: 9/11 "Probe"

Dear BuzzFlash,

Wouldn't it be great if we - the American people - who really don't have a voice on how much money is being spent on the 9/11 Commission, or on who gets to do the investigating, could start our own investigation? As one of the "We the People of the U.S. that wants the truth about 9/11," I would vote that the REAL INVESTIGATION into 9/11 be headed up by Seymour Hersh and Jean Charles Brisard.

Seems the only person who strikes fear into the "hearts" of those in this administration is the distinguished Mr. Hersh. Under the power of his pen those that need to be exposed for what they truly are, are starting to howl and run away with their tails between their legs. I wish more would. No less distinguished in his craft, Mr. Brisard is investigating on the behalf of 9/11 survivors who are suing the Saudi's for recompense, and holds "list" of names of people paid to set up the 9/11 job. He also knows how to add things up. Check out his story on the US and its attempts to make deals with the Taliban for the Afghan pipeline.

In my mind these men would be quite capable of following the trail of crumbs that lead from the events of 9/11 right back big to the big White House that sits in Washington, D.C.

Subj: Who's fighting, and what for?

I read with dismay about Bush's feeling that he is the only one in the world defending freedom, or words to that effect, as reported in USA Today. Is he not aware that there are thousands of soldiers on the ground in Iraq, among other places, fighting and dying in defense of freedom, at least theoretically? Does he not realize that while he is resting at Camp David, or watching CNN in his private dining room, that there are people dying to defend his vision of freedom? What does he think those people are doing over there?

And to hear him decry "armchair generals" makes me ill. Isn't that what he is? Where did he and his cronies get their military experience? His arrogance is limitless.

Dear BuzzFlash,

"Every gun that is made, every warship that is launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed" --Dwight D. Eisenhower

I suggest that Senator Stevens and his cohorts give up their salaries in this time of war and deficit budgets. I'm sure that there is not a one of them who couldn't find a corporate sponsor more than happy to support them. We all know that they already get free health care and enough perks to support most of us. The gall of this man. As usual, we the worker bees are to make all of the sacrifices. We are to die for their war, pay for their tax cuts to the rich and now give up our just compensation for the work we do. I can't help but think that at some time in the future we may be crossing the borders of Mexico and Canada looking for work. They obviously aren't going to be happy until they eliminate every middle class job in this country and we are all living in the hovels they feel we deserve.
