Subj: Bush Approved Multi-Billion Dollar Rip Off! Dear BuzzFlash: I wonder when some enterprising person in the press will finally have the gumption to point out that all of the companies involved in this multi-billion dollar fraud (see below), were all top Bush contributors (source: Common Cause)? I also wonder, if they'll point out that this theft precipitated the entire nation's slide into recession, thereby causing hundreds of billions more in losses. And finally, I wonder if someone in the Congress will demand an independent investigation into the relationship by and between Bush/Cheney, and these companies? The Bush junta is responsible for this nation's economic catastrophe. They were asked early on to step in and stop the energy companies' assault on California, but they refused to act, preferring to let their largest contributors rape CA (that's us) for billions. This was a criminal act, not only on the part of the energy companies, but also Bush/Cheney. Bush/Cheney are jointly guilty of collusion, conspiracy, and fraud, and should be impeached, but of course, Bush's plan for perpetual wars will probably preclude trying to impeach a "war time" president........How convenient.
Subj: An all too telling profile of the conservative talk radio listener ...and why it is tough for liberal talk radio to succeed (we just aren't like them!).
A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Where Are The Democrats? Dear BuzzFlash: I check your site often for news. When I am able to - down the road - I WILL $upport your efforts! In the meantime, day after day passes without a headline on your site which indicates a strong front from the Democratic leadership against the Bush Monarchy. That's because there IS no news of this sort for you to highlight. I hope you choose to headline THAT.... WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS!? There's no denying the obvious any longer: With precious few exceptions the Democrats are ALLOWING Bush to get away with his false war - because of their silence! This makes them worse than accomplices - for they are supposed to be the loyal opposition, because THEY KNOW BETTER, and because they are betraying our trust in them to represent our needs and wishes. Carolyn Gray Subj: Col. Jack Jacobs Congressional medal of honor winner retired Col. Jack Jacobs is a military analyst for MSNBC. On Monday, March 3 at about 10:40 est he was on discussing the Turkey decision to disallow US troops. The colonel characterized this as a disaster and said that were he asked to send troops in to Iraq via alternates, he'd instead "quit if I had the guts." If a transcript would be available somewhere, this is pretty noteworthy. A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: A New Second Front Dear Folks-- Senator John Burton, the President Pro Tem of California's State Senate, wrote to President Bush last week, suggesting that for a deal equivalent to that offered Turkey, California would be willing to open a second front in the war against Iraq. For a mere $5 billion in cash and a bunch of loan guarantees, California, which faces a budget deficit of somewhere between $25 and $35 million over the next 18 months, could take in all of the troops and military paraphernalia presently stuck out in the ocean. We'd have to store the stuff somewhere, true, but the Bay Area currently has a 20% vacancy rate in commercial rentals. Two problems solved. And the unemployed dot-com techies and laid-off chefs could be rapidly put to work maintaining the computer systems for the equipment housed in our vacant Class A space and preparing meals for the troops. Those without those skills could be put to work spotting for incoming missiles and providing early warning of an invasion by Iraqi ground forces. Yet another problem solved. And it would be most unlikely that anyone would be killed at all, thus sparing both Iraqi and American families the grief that comes with having loved ones bombed or shot, as frequently happens when the second front is located near the battle zone. Seems like a pretty good idea all ' round. Alison Brennan Subj: Bush on Recounting? In Florida 2000, we wanted to limit the recounts. In Turkey, we ask them to vote and keep voting until we get the result we want. http://www.dw-world.de/english/0,3367,1430_A_791764_1_A,00.html A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Election.com Red Flag Dear BuzzFlash: BuzzFlash carried the Newsday story about a controlling interest in Election.com being sold to the well-heeled investment group, Osan Ltd. which has ties to Saudi nationals. Out of curiosity, I visited the Election.com website, http://www.election.com/. One of the company's highlights was that Jack Kemp was elected to the board of directors. Election.com does not disclose who the other directors are but Newsday reported that Charles Smith, a representative of Osan, is a director. Election.com should be visited by everyone interested in the preserving the nation's democracy. Why? Read about the service it offers:
Election.com will be providing absentee voting online in 2004. The site actually has a contact page if you are interested in ordering an election! Election.com currently even offers voter registration services but not online. You can just bet that's next. Oddly, the company only has two US offices, one in Garden City, New York and the other in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It has offices in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and surprise! France. I live near the Garden City NY corporate office which is in Al D'Amato territory so I'm thinking seriously that I should stop in and find out about the characters running this company. When the story about ESS (Election Systems and Software, Inc.) being owned by Senator Chuck Hagel and a Nebraskan newspaper came out, I thought the alarm bells would sound across the nation. If Election.com doesn't do it, we are in big trouble come 2004. Regards, J. Peppard Subj: Graham his 9-11 outrage Bob Graham is one of my Senators. He didn't speak out in November and December of 2000 when the Republicans attacked our democracy. He didn't speak out when the Senate failed to back Representatives protesting the electoral count. Now he has taken to hinting at things he would like us to know about 9-11 but that are classified so he can't disclose them. He has been quoted as saying it may be 20 to 30 years before they will come out. Of course he blames it on Bush who obviously doesn't want anything to come out about 9-11. Yet he was in charge of the 9-11 investigation and chose not to investigate certain aspects. Who chose not to place blame. Who chose not to hold extensive open hearings where some facts could have been brought out even if partially censored. And when the 9-11 Commission was appointed he did not protest that it was not going to investigate what happened and who was to blame. That it to was going to do a cover up, just like he did. Graham is playing a game. Bush is running wild and leading us into one war after another, perhaps even into WWIII. If Graham knows something that should be disclosed but is being blocked by Bush then he should stand up and say what it is and to hell with it being "classified " by the gangsters in the White House. This is just one more betrayal of the American people. Graham is playing the patriot who is going to save the country by running for President. Bullshit. If he wants to save the country then let him speak out now about what he knows. Let him put his career on the line. In fairness the same can be said of Shelby, Porter Goss and the others on the committee. They have not served us and our democracy well. Goss from the beginning, ex CIA loyalist that he is, did not want any investigation. Shelby, as with Graham likes to hint at things. None of this is doing the victims and the survivors of 9-11 any good. It is a cruel betrayal. As we prepare to send our troops into battle, we betray those troops at the Pentagon who were the first victims of the war on terrorism. If Graham knows why they died and who was responsible then let him say so. If he lacks the courage to do so then spare us a run for the presidency. We already have a coward in the White House. We don't need another one to run against him. Robert E. Reynolds, Orange Park Fl Hi Buzzers. First, I think we are falling into a trap when we advocate for a response to N. Korea...since the response we all would like would involve diplomacy, treaties, and promises kept. The current barbarians in DC will probably respond with a Bambi Meets Godzilla move, if you remember that animated short. And secondly, here is something from the fine print in some junk mail I received this week from my HMO, Kaiser Permanente:
I wonder about who these authorized officials are going to be, and who the dignitaries are, and what use they will make of the knowledge of this persistent rash I get from reading about my dystopian, totalitarian government... Love, Cass Martinez in Portland (Little Beirut), Oregon RE: Stop Taking the Newspapers Buzz, Two years ago when I first found your site I stopped taking the paper. I mailed a check to you covering what I had been paying. I have never missed the paper because it was so biased and I could find out the TRUTH from you. Keep up the good work and I recommend everyone stop taking the paper and send the money they save to support your great site. A BuzzFlash
Fan Subj: Impeach boy-bush Hey Buzz, Just a reminder - lying about war is an impeachable offense. Everyone should call their federal legislators NOW and insist they begin impeachment proceedings against Bush. Rama Schneider Subj: Hummer/GM correspondence Dear Buzz, And the beat goes on. A go-round with Hummer (sponsor of O'Reilly) as suggested by a fellow Buzzer. Also waiting for two other sponsors to reply to my email. Discover Card has notified me that they have sent my email on to another department for review. No response from Morgan Stanley yet. _______________________________________ To Hummer/GM ad buyers: I am very disappointed in Hummer sponsoring the Bill O'Reilly show. I'm from the old school that says don't sponsor a show that conflicts with company culture. O'Reilly continually steps over the line with his commentary. His comment, all those who disagree with the war on Iraq will be considered enemies of the state, is a slap in the face to Americans who believe in the US constitution and bill of rights. And for O'Reilly to sneeringly threaten those from the entertainment industry by saying they will be closely watched is mindful of the Old Soviet Union. If Hummer agrees with controversial statements made by O'Reilly, by all means, continue to support the program. But if O'Reilly's statements are counter to the corporate culture of Hummer, perhaps you should put your advertising dollars elsewhere. Try to remember, there is a lot of credence to the cliché, "You are known by the company you keep." Regards, Cathy _______________________________________ Dear Cathy, Thank you for contacting the HUMMER Marketing Support Center. General Motors pursues the opportunity to advertise HUMMER products on television programming that resonates with our target customers. However, that does not mean the views shared in the programs are those of HUMMER, or General Motors. If you should need to contact us in the future, please e-mail us again or call our HUMMER Marketing Support Center at 800-REAL4WD. Customer Relationship Managers are available seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Sincerely, Nick Dorsey _______________________________________ Dear Mr. Dorsey, Thank you for the PR Standby statement. Targeting customers needs to gel with a corporation's culture. In essence, your reply says, as long as we hit the consumer target, we don't care what the program is about or what its content advocates. Your reply indicates that Hummer would likely sponsor any offensive programming as long as it resulted in customer sales. Is this what your corporate culture advocates? Advertisers "sponsor" television shows. Of course, the word sponsor means a person or organization who is responsible for someone or something. Considering that your company partly "sponsors" the O'Reilly show, the definition of the word "sponsor" indicates that Hummer is partly responsible for O'Reilly's offensive and ludicrous statements. Are you certain that offensiveness is what Hummer wants to project? I doubt that, but you have to admit it is surely something to seriously ponder. No need to reply. I've gotten your reply. Even though I disagree with your response, it is quite a revelation and very sad that Hummer will sponsor garbage as long as there is a target. Regards, Cathy Subj: Question on Ellsberg Special Hey Buzz, I was wondering if you know anything about the Special on Daniel Ellsberg's pentagon papers special coming up on FX network on the 9th of March. If its gonna be worth watching perhaps you should help advertise its showing on your site so BuzzFlash fans won't miss it. Thanks, Victor Saldivar Subj: 1st annual LEBON peace prize harvard has its "hasty pudding awards". this is a tad less tongue-in-cheek. soliciting assistance/sponsorship for :::::: --- Important preface: I voted for G.W. Bush, as well as his father, for president. Nonetheless, in light of circumstances, I feel compelled in proposing the institution of the LEBON PEACE PRIZE. The Lebon Peace Prize is the OPPOSITE of the Nobel Peace Prize which (quoting from Alfred Nobel's last will -- November 27, 1895) reads in part "...and one part to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses." My first nominee for -- & the inspiration behind -- the 1st annual LEBON Peace Prize is.................(drum roll please)................................... George W. Bush. Other Lebon
nominees (deceased & living) include: honorary
Lebon nominees/recipients: Many of the so-called leaders (of peoples of the world) do not have the hope, desire, spirit, imagination, sense, energy, values, intellect, wisdom, scruples, integrity, and/or proper motivation to aspire to (or recognize) Nobel standards. The Lebon award is partially inspired to appeal to the megalomania of those "leaders". It is recognized that although they might not recognize, and, therefore, are not driven to do, what is right, they just might possess enough sense/ego to yet be properly motivated to at least try to AVOID the inauspiciousness/infamy with which the Lebon prize would surely crown them. Ie, if they don't care, historically, to be remembered for doing what's right maybe they'll care enough to not be remembered for doing what's wrong. Ie, even though they're not motivated to do right by others, perhaps their self-absorbed self-interest will inspire them to not do wrong by others. (It would not be inappropriate to refer to the Lebon award by either of the following: Le Bonehead (rhymes with "the bone head") award or the Lebonhead (rhymes with "lemonhead") award.) Tom Brooks Subj: Bush's Legacy in Texas Dear BuzzFlash, Say guys. Keep up the great work. I think I spread your website around to about 50 folks every day. I'd jump off a bridge if it weren't for the hope your links and commentaries provide. Anyhoo, I am a former Senate (Rodney Ellis) and Texas Democratic Party staffer in Austin and just wanted you to get a nice view of what Bush's legacy down here is. Check out this link and look at what we are having to do to balance the budget. These cuts are just in Health and Human Services programs. Overall, we have a $15 billion budget deficit. Check out page 4 to get a sense of the human costs of Bush-o-nomics and what we have to look forward to in federal programs if Bush and his GOP get there way. When you consider Texas is already 2nd from the bottom in per capita spending, these cuts mean we are nuking Texas back to the stone age when it comes to social policy. Gov. Perry said "thank god for Mississippi" a few weeks back. IF these cuts take place, we'll be saying "thank god for Haiti." http://www.cppp.org/products/testimony/testimony/78th/tstHHS0405-budget.pdf BTW, the CPPP has a pristine reputation when it comes to budget numbers. Even the Republicans call up their budget expert to get to the bottom of issues. This group's numbers are unassailable. We're working on ways to fight these bastards through people power and the handful of Democrats left willing to go to the gates. F. Jeremy Warren Subj: International Denial and THE PLAN Dear BuzzFlash, The "Plan" for God's sake has been published!! Zbigniew Brzezinski outlined the coming conflict in Iraq 4 years ago in his book, THE GRAND CHESSBOARD - American Primacy And It's Geostrategic Imperatives. He shows how a democracy can not be relied upon to drive the engines of world domination; how central Asia is the key to any strategy of a world dominated by force. How an event similar to Pearl Harbor is the only way to truly galvanize our population. The "Plan" was uncovered again September 15th in the Sunday Herald, Bush Planned Iraq 'Regime Change' Before Becoming President. "The United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein." The September 10th Boston Globe, Iraq War Hawks Have Plans to Reshape Entire Mideast. ''The goal is not just a new regime in Iraq. The goal is a new Middle East,'' Here's another link to the plan in another form - on the web - that you can download. http://www.newamericancentury.org/RebuildingAmericasDefenses.pdf These stories are not from far fetched conspiracy sources but are readily available to anyone willing to read. My question, "Why hasn't anyone read them?" It's the only explanation I can come up with that allows the world to deny the truth in front of their faces. FACT - We have an administration run by folks who think controlling the world, and its resources by force, is an option. NOT my opinion. It is part of a very careful plan, that you can read about. First Iraq, then Iran and finally China and Southeast Asia with a little space domination thrown in for good measure. I believe that would be your Star Wars justification. I mean how are you gonna rule Space without a solid Star Wars Program to shoot down the missiles that only we possess? Again, simply the plan, not a wild rumor. So there you have it, the reason our country wants to invade Iraq is to begin implementing a years old plan to dominate the world through the use of the largest military known to man. What do you think? OK by you? Ok by the U.N.? What is that you said, "You didn't know?" Well now you do. What are you going to do about it? Ignore it? Deny the existence of "The Plan"? So far that has been the best policy. Simply look the other way and think that no one would do such a thing in this modern world. It's simply not possible that our best interests are not the first consideration. Wait, there's liberty and freedom and all that other stuff. It still sounds so good to hear the words. Maybe "The Plan" has been exaggerated. Yeah that's it, it's a conspiracy nut thing. And oh yeah, we're the United Nations after all and we go in for all that freedom and human rights stuff too. Can't be a plan like that. We'll consider our options. Well let's see...you mean you are now the only ones with weapons of mass destruction? Oh, then I am sure you will be benevolent and get us some more of that freedom you were talking about. What was the price again? So we go on as little children, hoping our powerful protector will take care of everything and destroy evil and let us know when that liberty stuff has been achieved. We naively ponder the daily distractions of silly U.N. resolutions and Weapons of Mass Whatever and the evil that lurks darned near everywhere, all the while ignoring the writing that is not only on the walls, but IN BOOKS! And we wait. We wait for the world to wake up. We wait for the world to begin questioning the contrived answers and the purposes that change daily. And we wait for the world to pull its head out of its collective rear end and smell "The Plan". Larry Hawes
Subj: Copy of My Letter to the CEO of Hearst Corp. Fw: Thanks a Million for Helen Thomas! Dear BuzzFlash, I decided to do an end run around the right wingers jamming up Helen Thomas's mailbox. I wrote to the new CEO of Hearst Corp., Victor Ganzi, http://www.hearstcorp.com/about/ and told him that his star reporter was tops with me. (I guessed at his email address but so far my letter has not been returned.)(I signed my full name and address to the original. )

Re: White House Offers "Rough" Medicare Blueprint Dear BuzzFlash, The Bush Medicare plan will be just another privatization ploy, to drive seniors into private plans and HMOs, both of which will wind up costing seniors more for less. HMOs and private plans associated with Medicare have abandoned seniors in the past, because Medicare didn't pay enough. In future, when all of the tax cuts to the wealthy, unprecedented defense spending, etc., increase the huge deficits, seniors will be hurting when it comes to Medicare and Social Security. A BuzzFlash Reader White House Offers Medicare Blueprint WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush offered a rough blueprint Monday for adding drug benefits to Medicare, proposing that the government use sweetened benefits to entice seniors into HMOs and private plans, and renewing his call for a discount drug card. The White House promised ``comprehensive'' benefits for those who moved into such plans. But officials refused to say whether or how the drug subsidies would be more generous than those in traditional Medicare, insisting that Congress will iron out the details. Subj: Few show up for "Patriots' Rally for America" Dear Buzz, Fewer than 100 people turned out Saturday for a "Patriots' Rally for America" sponsored by the DC chapter of FreeRepublic.com. The main speaker was Robert Dornan, former ultra-rightwing conservative congressman from California. C-SPAN covered the entire event on nationwide television. See the photo at http://w-04.com/Rally4America4/pages/DSCN1095.htm A BuzzFlash Reader Dear BuzzFlash, On Easter Sunday, 1967 I attended the very first "LOVE IN" at Elysian Park in Los Angeles. There was a war going on even though they didn't call it that. There were 53,000 American brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers and children who died in that "unwar". Not to mention over 1 million Vietnamese people. My older brother fought in that war and made it back. Many other people we knew didn't. In the days of the love ins, people were made more aware of the war when the tv pictures began showing the body bags holding the remains of our sons and daughters. Many people were faced with the task of making a number of moral decisions about issues that we had never considered before. Are there right and wrong reasons to go to war? If in a war, is it right to kill some innocent civilians if you take out a missile installation as well? Is it ok to invade a country that hasn't attacked us, just because we think they might attack sometime in the future? That's what happened in Vietnam. Today is February 15, 2003. Today could be the day that you make some important moral decisions that will shape your future. The actions that anti-war protesters took in the 60's and 70's, stopped a war in progress. Many who protested then have not changed their moral values. Many who fought that war are joining in protest against the war in Iraq. Many of them have changed their values, having seen the effects of war first hand. I too will protest today. I don't believe in violence as a solution to anything. I see this war as a war for oil. Oil, and the wealth it creates for the friends and family of the people running the country from the White House. The wealth that is created by massive increases in defense spending to companies owned in part by George H W Bush, for example. Yes, I'll be downtown protesting the possibility of war in Iraq along with many of my friends ranging in age from 18 to 56 (I'm the one who is 56). We will be the ones carrying the "NO BLOOD FOR OIL" posters that I designed and my son created on the computer. Now you all know where I stand. Its time for you to make some moral decisions. Will you be out at one of the protests taking place around the world or would you prefer to be on the front lines, fighting and killing for oil and the massive wealth it creates for a few greedy elites? Be careful, this decision could effect you and those you care about for the rest of your and their lives. beobewan Quote of the Day

Keep up the good work! A loyal BuzzFlash reader Subj: Message to BuzzFlash over message to Ralph Nader Sorry, but while the Democratic party only differs from the Republican party in that the former is an enabler/appeaser of the military industrial corporate complex while the latter is an eager enthusiastic booster, NADER IS MY GUY!!! Cory Hinman Subj: Heroin Comment Allowing the warlords in poppy-growing areas to grow and sell poppies was very probably part of negotiations (along with the infamous briefcases of $$) to get temporary war support, either active fighting or promises to remain uninvolved. Those agreements are probably still in place. Those figures are staggering (Afghanistan 3400 tons, #2 Burma 640 tons, a five-fold difference). Where are those "anti-drug" TV ads on this one? A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Bush "Reappointment" BuzzFlash, There's already much talk in the "media" about the " re-election" campaign for Bush the Pretender in '04. Dare we hope that the media could get at least one FACT correct: Bush was never elected -- he was appointed. Ergo, this is not and can never properly be termed a re-election campaign. The talking points from the RNC clearly indicate that whenever this FACT is raised by a Democratic supporter, folks like Tucker Carlson, Novak, Goldberg et al should just snort, guffaw, snicker and say "Get Over it" as if subverting the will of the people was a common joke. But the American people need to be alert -- because the Bushies with the help of people such as Miguel Estrada and Ted Olsen were successful in stealing the election once, they WILL try to do the same process again even if it means eliminating millions from the voter roles. Don't Re-appoint Bush in '04... Tony Mac Subj: Baltimore County SS ? Hey BuzzFlash, An email I sent to the County Executive of Baltimore County and the Baltimore County Police Department. Subj: Is God telling Bush to kill for peace? Dear BuzzFlash, You have a headliner posted saying Bush going to get his war on and put our soldiers in harm's way because God is telling him to kill for peace. Good headline! Could be, that Bush is hearing voices. Could also be, he is experiencing alcoholic tremors... little green men... rats crawling into his bed... voices whispering from everywhere guiding his actions. The question that needs to be clarified this: Is God helping to guide Bush -- is he experiencing alcoholic tremors -- or is he just a plain, common, everyday, low-life liar? ~ Cathy Subj: Questions about the FBI Why has Louis Freeh never been held accountable for FBI activity or lack thereof? Wasn't he head of FBI prior to September 1, 2001? A Loyal BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Grand Scheme Dear BuzzFlash, Bush is racking up a US deficit like no other. Could the grand scheme be to demolish the US as we have always known it? Could it be a power and money grab for the elites? Or could the scheme be to create such a deficit that no democrat president could eliminate it in 8-10 years? Pretty plausible when you think about it. If the democrats were to take over the presidency for 4-8 years and fail to bring down Bush's deficits all the way, plus repair untold damages the republicans have created, voters might look at them as failures. Enter a republican presidential nominee, telling voters that the democrat administration failed and he can succeed. Under that scenario, the republicans regain the presidency to pick up where they left off! Could we be witnessing a Rov-e-an long-range strategy, huh? ~ Cathy |
