Dear BuzzFlash,

I guess this is another example of the "liberal-dominated media." Hell's bells, Savage is not even sane. "Where a range of voices have their say." Yeah, right. As long as they range only from far right to right.

MSNBC gives Bay talk jock own show
Michael Savage gets an hour on Saturdays
Peter Hartlaub, Chronicle Staff Writer
Thursday, February 13, 2003
3 San Francisco Chronicle | Feedback

Conservatives who aren't getting enough of San Francisco's Michael Savage through his radio show, books and compact disc will soon be able to catch their hero on television.

The love-him-or-hate-him host of KSFO's "The Savage Nation" will be seen every Saturday on MSNBC starting some time next month, network officials announced Wednesday. The hourlong show, also called "The Savage Nation," will air at 2 p.m.

Savage said MSNBC executives had called him "out of nowhere" last month and taken just a few weeks to cut a deal. After having conversations with the network president, Savage said he was assured that the cable news network didn't want him to reinvent his format.

Subj: Duct Tape

Dear BuzzFlash,

The use of Duct Tape over the mouth's and rear ends of the Republican war hawks would stop their double barreled frenzied war efforts. It would save millions of rolls duct tape. I wonder how many plastics companies contributed to commercial extravaganza.

Subj: Hail Caesar -- U.S. General to Run Iraq

Hi Buzz:

Will Mrs. Tommy Franks be co-ruler of Iraq? Our so called liberal media has let just another interesting story fall off their little radar screen.

About a week ago, it was brought out that Mrs. Frank had sat in on top secret meetings, used military personal as her 24/7 maid service and questions were asked about illegal travel expenses, etc., charged to the military. One brave reporter asked Mr. Rumsfeld about this and Rummy stated "I stand by my man" He never bothered to try to disclaim the charges or even talk about them. I stand by my man was sufficient. End of story....he spoke and again to use your words, Hail Caesar.

How can one not wonder about the integrity, brains or honesty of a man like General Tommy Franks if these charge are true? Unfortunately for our Country we will never know because yet again, voices have been silenced. Will be ever wake up from this worsening nightmare?

Subj: A Modest Counterpunch

Subject: Yahoo! News Story - Some U.S. lawmakers want to ban French water, wine and move troops from Germany

O.K. then. What if the French, in turn, banned Coke Cola, fat-ass, American cars and SUV's, our sub-cretinous TV programs, our fat-dripping, artery-clogging fast food chains, our sweat-shop manufactured clothing.... As a matter of fact why don't those Europeans who despise American foreign policy began to boycott American goods. I just bet: the corporations that own and run this country would bounce Bush Inc. faster than you can say "Kenny Boy."

Phil Rockstroh

Dear Bush,

Is the Orange Alert merely a ploy to minimize the impact of the protests this weekend, or are you planning to actually allow another attack on Americans so that you can get your godless crusade on?

Also, Please note that the ImClone stock that Martha Stewart sold represented three one hundreths of one percent of her income. That's 0.0003% of her billion dollar empire. Her story was that she was liquidating all her stock holdings because it was a relative waste of time to pay attention to them. It's not hard to believe her, and the case against her will be ridiculously hard to prove (it essentially requires investigators to read her mind). So why isn't anyone investigating Bush's Harken sale which was made while he was on the board, which has an incriminating paper trail, and which ended up funding practically 100% of his fortune?

One last thing. On Kiss FM in New York City, they talk about politics and what is going on in this country on Sunday mornings. It's actually quite jarring to hear the truth on the radio. I'm sure Clear Channel will try to shut the program down ASAP.

Subj: The Race Card, Wingnut Style

Dear Buzz,

Let's be fair, all ideologies use Orwellian double-speak. But it's the wingnuts who are in power, so theirs is the one to watch for now.

Once upon a time, the term "race card" meant a Minority member accusing somebody else of discrimination on the basis of race. The wingnuts initiated their era of power when they hit upon their Clarence THOMAS strategy of sponsoring for key positions Minority specimens who "happen" to be outrageously Wingnut in ideology, or rather, who will toe the line as scratched by the Wingnut honchos. Everybody knows it's a wink-wink phenomenon, like when they Alan KEYES play in their primaries and always talked-up what a FABULOUS speaker he was, while all the wingnuts in the universe knew they would never-EVER actually *VOTE* for him, DUH.

The Minority-Wingnut du jour is one Miguel ESTRADA. Senator Orrin HATCH has been doing the yak circuit, doing his Shirley TEMPLE impression of purity and innocence, saying to one and all, sweetly, "I just don't underSTAND the Democrats. Here is a well qualified Minority and they are against him. Hispanics will be watching the Democrats VERY closely."

Uh, notice how ----clumsily, actually----he attempts to place the race card on the Democrats, claiming that this nomination is NOT about race it's about QUALIFICATIONS, but at the same time if you oppose his ideology then you're oppressing a Minority. No, Senator HATCH, Hispanics don't let Hispanics vote blind. And how many Blacks have been won over by the imposition of Clarence THOMAS into that post? (For the record... : ) ZILCH. What Senator HATCH conVEEniently overlooks is that the Minority Wingnuts are JUST wingnuts in the end, their aim is to dismantle programs and attitudes friendly to their OWN Minority group, -----so WHY would the larger of their group even THINK about supporting such persons? Senator HATCH is suggesting that Minorities ought to vote based on ethnicity-----a very quota kind of thought.

My guess is that Dubya has gotten excited about going to war, even enthusiastic about it! It's as if someone (perhaps his "daddy") promised him that he could "play" war and he's mad because some folk are trying to take his toy soldiers and war machines away. We need help in Georgia. Never mind about the Confederate flag issue and a red-neck governor named " Sonny". None of that will matter if World War III begins. The Atlanta Journal/Constitution seems to be receiving an abundance of pro-war letters to the editor. I'm told that they print letters in proportion to the number of those received....so if 20 pro-war letters are received and only 5 anti-war letters, then perhaps 6 pro-war letters will be printed and only 1 or 2 anti-war ones. We are left to believe that metro-Atlantans are overwhelmingly for Bush's folly. I don't believe this. I think that the freepers and ditto-heads are up to their usual tricks. It would be nice if some of the writers to the BuzzFlash mailbag would send some of your wonderful letters to the paper. The email address is: letters@ajc.com.

ABCNEWS.com : Alert Partly Based on Lies

They are playing so many games you do not know what to believe. I think this little scare tactic backfired on them. If anything would cause Americans to fear war, it is if it brought to their doorstep. And Bush is bringing it here and women, in particular, do not like it. I think they tried to scare us into going into war and the feelings of Americans was exactly the reverse. What bastards!

CIA 'sabotaged inspections and hid weapons details'
By Andrew Buncombe in Washington
14 February 2003

Senior democrats have accused the CIA of sabotaging weapons inspections in Iraq by refusing to co-operate fully with the UN and withholding crucial information about Saddam Hussein's arsenal.

Led by Senator Carl Levin, the Democrats accused the CIA of making an assessment that the inspections were unlikely to be a success and then ensuring they would not be. They have accused the CIA director of lying about what information on the suspected location of weapons of mass destruction had been passed on.

Subj: MSNBC, Michael Weiner, and "The Savage Nation"

Hello BuzzFlash,

This is a correspondence that I sent to Mr. Erik Sorenson of MSNBC, who recently hired Michael Weiner, a.k.a. Michael Savage, of "The Savage Nation". It was suggested by Mike Malloy that we all let Mr. Sorenson know our views. I encourage all to contact Mr. Sorenson and express your displeasure.

His e-mail address is erik.sorenson@msnbc.com.

If you prefer to call, the phone number at MSNBC is (201) 583--5000.

* * *

Mr. Sorenson,

I understand that your network has hired Michael "Savage", whose real name is actually Michael Weiner, to host a weekly hour-long program on your network. With all due respect . . . . are you serious?!?

If you are looking to salvage your outlet's credibility as a viable news network, you are making an enormous mistake.

You are quoted as describing his him as "brash", "passionate" and "smart" . . . . have you ever listened to Mr. Weiners' "Savage Nation" program? Racist, vile, insulting, and vitriolic are more accurate descriptions. Among his "pearls" of wisdom are describing those less fortunate as living in "Turd World Nations", and labeling those with Liberal views "Red Diaper Doper Babies." Your network is about to dump Phil Donahue, who clearly is compassionate, intellectual and articulate, not to mention "passionate" and "smart", yet you hire a disgusting promoter of outrageous Right Wing rhetoric. Are the ratings THAT important to you and your network that you need to appeal to the worst elements of our society? Have you hired Weiner because there is not enough Right Wing hatred and filth on the airwaves? Limbaugh, Hannity and Coulter listeners and their sponsors are clamoring for more, so you comply ?!?

You may want to dismiss Phil Donahue because his Liberal views, and his intellectual and compassionate style, do not appeal to your sponsors' interests (and ultimately your paycheck). But please spare what few remaining listeners you have the insult of adding Weiner and his bombastic, hateful rhetorical spew to your line-up.

This is not a matter of Liberal vs. Conservative. Most of us who care enough to become better informed prefer meaningful discussion and debate, regardless of political persuasion. It is a matter of intellectual integrity. At the very least provide us an authentic personality, not a fictitious radio clone who has to hide his real name in order to project a phony image.

The reputation of your network is at stake, and your viewers deserve far better.

Sincerely,

A BuzzFlash Reader

Buzz,

I am concerned about a couple of things that we would likely never hear about if not for this website.

#1 I have been watching some of the Estrada hearings, as much as possible with my schedule...and it is above and beyond my reasoning as to why a man would expect to be appointed to a job for life..and can remember nothing..has no thoughts on anything, cannot remember how he voted on anything and has no real opinions about serious situations in life. He has no opinion about the abortion issue, is neither for nor against...he has no opinion on civil rights..neither for or against...he cannot remember what opinions he even agreed on that other judges had!! Is he a real person with thoughts.?..If ever in my life I, with my limited brain, have seen a setup this is it. His experience, is that he is so far to the right that we will never have another right in our lives!!

#2 I am so sure that the "High Alert" status right now is to hinder all the peace marches...wait and see folks, it will be over after the threat of a large peace march ends in New York..Mayor Bloom(whatever) made his dutiful speech then ran right to Florida...what else??

#3 Lastly, the "Patriots for Peace" movement is so beautiful...I have been trying to download and print one of the posters all night...and cannot, my printer will not take it. Please tell me if there is somewhere I can order by snail mail!

Thanks in advance....Love you all...........Shirley St.Louis

PS: I did make my important call for the filibuster to Daschle...right after I read today's mail!

Dear BuzzFlash,

While yesterday's papers heralded the news that every hardware store in our county was sold out of duct tape, my daughter pointed out something that should have been painfully obvious to even the dim bulbs currently running this country... if you "seal" yourself into a room with plastic and tape to keep OUT the air full of bad germs and chemicals, you will also seal out the OXYGEN--you know, the stuff we breathe?? This led to a lively discussion of all the ways one might better employ duct tape to make us more secure. The attached jpeg visualizes our unanimous conclusion.

Subj: War on Iraq or Recruiting for al qaeda

Dear Mr Kristof,

Hope all is well with you.

You wrote:

> Whatever one thinks of the coming war, its aim of eliminating weapons of mass
> destruction is a worthy one. Who could have imagined that the hawks would find

Do you really believe it's purpose is the elimination of weapons? Think about that.

First consider: of any ten statements made by Bush can you find two that turned out to be true? Remember, right before the scuba diving al-Qaida were coming to get us, Bush had lied about why he didn't file his stock sale. When that lie became transparent, he blamed someone else. When that lie became transparent, he said he was thoroughly investigated, but it turns out one agent from his father's administration asked him "did you do anything crooked" and he lied to him. Review the Harken incident and you find more lies, like he didn't know it was wrong to sell his stock when he did, and it turned out his lawyer informed him in writing not to sell the stock. Like he knew nothing about setting up the off-shore tax dodges, when he's there in the minutes participating in the decision to do this...

Let's not start with his military career (avoidance), the Texas Rangers, his odd delight and amusement about ordering executions, his first thought on 9/11 being "to get out of harm's way", promises to Pakistan on trade broken, Afghanistan left in Taliban-ripe-for-the-taking condition...

Instead think about the high alert we have this moment. From al-qaeda. Remember Bush was going to smoke bin Laden out of his hidey-hole? So we put 5 to 10,000 troops on the ground to get him, and we are taking 200 to 300,000 to get Saddam who may, someday, hurt us, while the group that did hurt us finds Bush CUTTING FUNDS for defending our land--our borders and ports sieves, major weak points no safer than 17 months ago. And if you read anything but the Corp-iet US Press, you'd know that al-qaeda has reinstituted training in....Pakistan. You know, Pakistan, supporter of the Taliban, with 30 nukes, who let al-qaeda stay in their nation, who foments terror in Kashmir, who deals with Korea, who will have six nukes in six months, who will sell these nukes to anyone..., even Iran, who has initiated their own nuclear program....

Do you really believe we are going into Iraq to stop weapons of mass destruction?

Do you think all of this is disconnected with Minister Ashcroft's proposed extension of the "Patriot Act" (better termed the "Surrender to Terror Act")? You know, someone in his office declares you a supporter of terrorism, strips you of citizenship, arrests you in secret, tries you in secret, and disposes of you in secret. To be proposed as law, presumably when the Anthrax attacker resurfaces to send mail to recalcitrant politicians, like with the original act.

And we have Powell, showing us al-qaeda camps, which for some reason have never been bombed. Just a photo op to "prove" that Iraq is connected. Why were they never bombed. Is it part of some policy to make sure bin Laden keeps functioning?

What about the spin being put on the bin Laden tape? Proof that Iraq and al-qaeda are linked. But if you read the transcript bin Laden says quite clearly that the Iraq socialist leadership, along with some Arab heads of state are apostates. This is different from infidels, who are merely ignorant of Islam. Apostates have left Islam, and consequently the next thing bin Laden says is "Shedding their blood is holy."

He calls for the murder of Saddam, even while he is willing to align with Iraqi socialists in fighting Americans immediately. Do you think calling for his blood escaped Saddam's notice? And so Saddam's going to give him weapons of mass destruction.

Well, in only one case, as our CIA and FBI have said. That one case is if he is backed into a corner, where he knows his end is nigh. Precisely the case Bush is creating right now.

Now we hear the French, Germans, and Russians are intransigent, their motive being their oil interests. But the current Maladministration, filled with oil men, are completely unaware that Iraq has between 10-20% of the world's oil reserves. And there are other issues of outright world domination by force of arms, which the Bush Gang has spelled out quite clearly if you look at the papers they've put out in the past decade. What outcome do you expect from clear madness, clear fraud? Besides our authorities being able to declare people non-citizens. Nuts who think God is guiding them and justifying them.

Please stop repeating the mindless propaganda being pushed on us, and try to address the very obvious corruption and bad intent of these people who imagine themselves leaders.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Jim Pittman

Subj: Do Unto Others

Dear Buzz,

The recent "chattering" exposed by U.S. information agencies, combined with our Homeland Security Department's dire warnings and TV's steady drumbeat of "what to do in case of an attack" has gotten us all jittery.

I think, however, that in these fearful times we can learn a valuable lesson.

If we are afraid of an attack, think of how the Iraqis feel right now. And ask yourself: of whom they are afraid?

Subj: Letter from New Zealand - That Sinking Feeling

Dear BuzzFlash,

In about 12 hours from now I will be joining multitudes of like minded people. People who cannot stand-by and allow George Bush to wage a phony war without voicing opposition in the strongest possible way. But oh my, watching GW today, challenging the UN in a most arrogant way, left me with that horrible sinking feeling. You know the feeling... you watch, you listen, your mouth drops open, you close your eyes, you put your head in your hands...you sigh.

To sum it up, this is how I see things:

1. Least surprising event - George W. turning out to be as bad as we all knew he would.

2. "You've gotta be kidding!" event - Thousands of American's buying duct tape and water.

3. Safe bet - US invasion of Iraq will proceed as planned.

4. Biggest con - Saddam + bin Laden = 1 person.

5. Biggest disappointment - Colin Powell.

6. Biggest political loser - Tony Blair.

7. Biggest political winner - Osama bin Laden.

8. Worst fear - Bush winning 2004.

9. Saddest reality - Thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians will die. Thousands of young military personnel will have their lives ruined forever. The American people will not find the security they seek.

Subj: My Letter to Carl Levin

Dear BuzzFlash,

Thought you might like to see a letter I sent to Senator Levin this morning thanking him for holding the CIA's feet to the fire in regard to weapons inspections in Iraq. I hope others will also write to those on the Hill who are standing up to the powers that be even though they are not from their home states. Many Americans' opinions are unrepresented in Congress since many like those of us here in Texas that have Republican lock step folks in both houses who only represent what the administration says or the far right and don't bother with the rest of us.

Dear Senator Levin:

I am not a Michigan resident but live in Texas. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your courage in questioning George Tenet regarding the CIA and the weapons inspectors- I am a proud but dissenting American and appreciate your willingness to take on what appears to be sadly, the unrelenting efforts to actively seek war with Iraq. I live in a predominately Republican area here in N. Texas. Even so, among my friends, both R & D, there is little support for a war with Iraq without full UN support and I am hearing more and more questioning of what our real reason for our bellicose rush to war is. Thanks again- I know that you cannot respond since I am not a constituent from your state but with so many of our representatives from this area, bound and determined to pursue a course that few that they represent neither understand or desire, Sen Levin - we are all your constituents in the truest sense of the word, since you are one of the few asking the questions that we would like asked before our children, grandchildren and our country's economic foundation and future are put in harm's way. Again, thanks for standing up -

A BuzzFlash Reader

FYI:

The story below is an Associated Press German language story. In the last paragraph the story says that "up to 100,000 people are expected in New York" to protest the war. Only 100,000 people max? There AP goes again, crunching numbers down, down, down....

In the first paragraph, AP is a bit more circumspect, using the old trick of lowballing, but leaving the sky the limit. AP leads that "more than one million (eine Million) participants in the whole world are expected" to demonstrate. I guess that covers a turnout of 5 million? 10 million?

Sigh

Weltweit Proteste gegen drohenden Irak-Krieg Überblick Berlin/Melbourne (AP)

Subj: Re: The President Asks for Our Prayers for the Military

TO: PrayerTeam@PresidentialPrayerTeam.org

Thank you for encouraging me to pray for the president and our troops. I do pray for the president daily. I pray that he won't get this country in a war that we don't need. I pray that he will work as diligently to bring corporate criminals to trial as he does to promote this war against the Iraqi people. I pray that in his desire to protect us he doesn't dilute, reduce, or remove the very freedoms that make us a great democratic republic. I pray that he will apply the same standards to himself and his administrative staff, that he applies to the UN, to those of us who disagree with him, and to members of Congress. I pray that he will abandon his desire to pay back his wealthy patrons and teach America that this country is not about great individual wealth but about individual freedoms. I pray that through his actions, not his words, his inner feelings and attitudes are revealed. (Actually this last prayer has already been answered.)

We should look to our Ministers, our Priests, our Rabbis, and other religious leaders for our religious and spiritual guidance. We don't need the president to provide our religious leadership any more than we needed him to set our sexual mores. The position of president is a governmental one. George W. Bush is not a religious leader, at least not to most thinking Americans.

By copies to others I ask them to join me in these or similar prayers.

PEACE
