Just wanted to say that I think Bernie Ward of KGO (810 AM) radio 7-10 pm weekdays in San Francisco Bay area is someone who should be heard nationally. He is truly informative as well as entertaining, and boy can he rip Bush and his policies to pieces. Not by bashing, but by arguing specifics. He has also been a guest on several tv shows such as Crossfire, etc. He could easily be the liberal Rush Limbaugh. Please check him out if you haven't already (can be heard on internet also).
In fact it was Bernie Ward who turned me on to BuzzFlash.com and Media Whores Online by mentioning them on his show.

These headlines tell a very interesting story. We've about to go to war with the wrong country. The conflict between the US and North Korea is worse than the Bush Cartel wants us to believe. The Cartel tries to put a little more fear into the American public with a hoax. Which also goes to show we need to replace the FBI with an organization that works. Bush is about to give his buddies another tax break. And we're sending troops to start a war with a country that he has failed to prove is a danger to us, and will drive the country even further into debt. And the main-stream media continues to sit on their collective dumb-asses and do nothing. Which goes to show that something I heard on a re-run of Saturday Night Live is true: Bush could snort a line of coke off the Loc Ness Monster's ass, and the media would just ignore it.

I did read the GAO report -- in its entirety -- when it came out last year; perhaps you overlooked the sections I quoted (and there are indeed more of similar nature) in my letter.

It is interesting that you sent me a link to the GAO report via the "Counter Clinton Library" site. There must be some kind of hit recorder on that site that returns fabulous prizes to those who send them visitors. What sort of prize, I wonder? Maybe something shaped like a male sex organ.
Anyway, the GAO report basically comes to the conclusion that the White house was not left in the kind of "criminally trashed" condition proclaimed and disseminated by the domineering right-wing media cheerleaders. The report reveals little real evidence of wrongdoing: Bush people said this, Clinton people said that. Interestingly, if one looks at the 1993 transition (From GHW Bush to Clinton) one finds that the Bush I staff is reported to have left behind damaged furniture, rotten food in the fridge, disconnected phones, missing computer hard drives, prankish notes, and, well...you get the idea: "If it's a Republican, Praise Them; if it's a Democrat, Destroy Them." (Just like the pardon issue: Bush I pardons his own criminally-minded former employees who sought to destroy our democracy; Bush gets a pass from the media. Clinton pardons an inconsequential [in the great scheme of things] fugitive, and the media declare that Clinton must be destroyed.) Bill Clinton had the unimaginably difficult job of running the most powerful executive office in the world right up until the last moment of his tenure, and he ran it admirably, despite the unceasing right-wing jihad against him.
If the Clintons had burned down the White House and flown Air Force One into the Pentagon, such actions would have been considered historically equivalent to the Bush theft of the presidency. A few misplaced pieces of equipment, some bags of trash, and a couple of pried-off "W" keyboard keys cannot compete in seriousness with the dismantling of our democracy. You seem like an educated man--you should understand this.

Thanks for including the Peter Bronson, Cinti. Enquirer article I sent you.
His article on the trashing of the White House was the last straw. I've watched him trash the Clintons over and over. But hey, what else would a spineless journalist do in the cradle of republicanism (Cinti.) Folks in this town love to read anything anti-Clinton.
I received a reply to my email to Bronson. Now get this... he said I should read the GAO report. Incredibly, he provided a link to the Anti-Clinton Library/GAO! The gall of this idiot! Well, this student of the BuzzFlash School of Higher Learning went directly to the Official GAO Government site. It was a long read, but I read every word. Every allegation by the Bush White House was either explained by Clinton managers, personnel, or White House repair/support employees. And the counter-comments were directly under the allegations. Anyone with a brain could clearly see that a lot of what happened in the White House offices was traditional pranks in a presidential transition. There was also repair/support service records showing service on much of the same broken office furniture and equipment during the Clinton administration.
When I saw the Bush expense sheet, I lost it. They included the replacement cost of the keyboards with the W's missing! BuzzFlash linked us to an article back then that said Office Max replaced the keyboards AT NO EXPENSE.
Needless to say, I fired off another email and made the following points:
- The GAO said, after investigations, concluded that much of it was prankish and no worse than any other White House transition, including Bush Senior.
- Office Max replacing the keyboards in question, free of charge, but Bush people including them in their cost account to the GAO without reference to Office Max
- Telling Bronson that I was surprised that he based his article around a republican generated anti-Clinton rag... The Anti-Clinton Lie-brary
- Told him I read every word of the Official GAO government report and questioned what report he read. He sure couldn't have read the official report
- Mentioned that many journalists across the country and in newspapers much larger than the Enquirer, set the record straight, calling the whole episode an attempt to discredit the Clinton administration (I had included those articles in my first email, Kansas City newspaper and Boston Globe)
I won't bore you with the rest, but you've got to understand that this guy is the Fred Flintstone of journalism. I can't wait for a new response from him. Naturally, I expect another Flintstone response which will be as intelligent as Ya-ba-dab-a-doooooo!
Now you might see why I asked you to expose Bronson through BuzzFlash. I certainly hope more readers respond to this "Freddie" and call his card.

[Cathy note: the first email retort refers me to the Counter-Clinton Library site. The second email says that he didn't rely on the anti-Clinton website. What?!!!!!! Then why on God's earth did he try to link me to it?!!!!!!!!! Secondly, he accuses me of reading the GAO report the same way I read his column (the implication being that I am biased toward Clinton.) How is it then that many journalists across the country read the report the same way I did and concluded that the episode an attempt to discredit the Clinton administration?]
It's tough living in a pro-republican town and this kind of crap goes on all the time. Quick, if you have any stinging suggestions in retort to his last email, please send them ASAP! I'm on a crusade now. And after all... I'm a student of the BuzzFlash School of Higher Learning, not the professor. I also wonder about complaining to the editors of the Enquirer and including Bronson retort emails which suggest that he based his article on a republican-generated rag. In the meantime, please encourage your readers to respond to the Bronson article. This guy deserves some real grief from Buzzers!

It has come to my attention on this and other websites that some people are upset that the Repugs are already demonizing Kerry and Edwards. Well, what did you expect? Did you agree with the DNC that with Gore out of the way, criticism would end and there would be a clean race for the White House with discussion of the important issues of the day?
Kerry and Edwards are on their own as far as I am concerned. They didn't stand up for Gore. They didn't come to his defense. They thought that he did a wonderful deed by dropping out of the race so that they could run.
After Gore announced his withdrawal from the race, I heard Dukakis make an amazing statement. He said that he was for his former Lieutenant Governor because he was a great candidate. He said that there was no way that Bush could criticize Kerry. I thought to myself, "Well, no wonder Dukakis lost so badly."
The democratic candidates will have to run against each other in the primaries. They will provide Bu$h with ammunition against his opponent. Gore has already been through the mill. People can only stand to hear about the Buddhist Temple so many times. The democrats have made a major mistake in dumping Gore.

How about these magazine headlines:

IN each of the above covers, and many dozens of articles besides, the corporate media has been crassly shilling for bush tax cuts for corporations and the super-wealthy. And all along the way, the tax cuts have been promoted as "economic STIMULUS."
And all along the way, they have had the OPPOSITE affect on the national economy: recession, retrenchment, cutbacks, layoffs, and a reduced stock market.
A big part of the Bush-GOP formula is propaganda terms that leave citizens and voters completely befuddled. Foremost among these terms is "STIMULUS PACKAGE." A close second is jeb bush's mastery of propaganda terms, including "ONE FLORIDA" to euphemise dismantling affirmative action, and whatever-the-hell name was given to the program whereby the Florida University board of regents was abolished and instead leadership of Florida's universities and secondary education was seconded to jeb's donor-corporate cronies.
Here's hoping that Democrats and moderates don't let Bush, the GOP, and the corporate media muddy the waters with "STIMULUS PACKAGE" indefinitely, even if it is asking a lot.

The link to the Yahoo! story about the UN/WHO estimate of 500,000 injured/killed/affected in the first part of the inevitable Iraq war fascinated me.
Why? Not because of the huge numbers. No. Because I check my email on Yahoo! about three or four times a day and ALWAYS look at the news headlines. I never saw this headline. I suspect that Yahoo! had that story on for about five minutes, yet they keep the story of Bush's economic plan in their headlines all day (and will continue to do so tomorrow). Yep, anything that is in any way critical of Bush isn't given much air time. Anything that promotes the war or his agenda is on their news headlines for days.
You guys do good work.

This evening on C-SPAN, Dems gave a very effective argument against Bush's economic plan, showing facts and figures how once again it mainly helps Wall Street and the wealthy. How it does nothing to produce any new jobs for the unemployed, and giving nothing to Medicaid and other social programs, or to help the states. Even Sen. McCain on Chris Matthews show stated he felt the removal of tax on dividends wouldn't help the middle class and the needy, where is was most needed. Bush is also nominating Pickering again in spite of his record on civil rights!

It astounds me that a regularly published columnist in a major daily newspaper could write such clap-trap. I understand that columnists are paid for their opinions, but the public interest would be much better served were those opinions not seasoned liberally with lies.
Clinton-haters like yourself have to go to the same well over and over, pulling out lies like the 'White House trashing' every few months, throwing moldy hay to the ignorant sheep who want desperately to believe that Mr. Clinton is the source of all problems everywhere. The truth, as you SHOULD be aware, is that the GAO determined that the state of the White House when Mr. Clinton left office was consistent with normal occupancy by an eight-year tenant. And you probably are aware that the same state of disarray was encountered by the Clinton team when they took over in 1992, but they just rolled up their sleeves and got to work bringing back the economy, raising American status around the world, fighting back the Contract on America, etc.
And while we are on the subject of sleazy administrations, why is it that the most investigated and ethical administration in decades gets lied about when there are perfectly good stories to tell about Bush 41's Christmas Eve pardons? If Mr. Clinton's attempts to keep his personal life private by lying about his affair with Ms. Lewinsky are so heinous, what does that say about Bush 43's employment of convicted liars like John Poindexter and Elliot Abrams?
Sorry, Charlie, you're a hypocritical scumbag. You should be ashamed of yourself. It's media hacks like you, refusing to do your job, that has helped plunge this country into its most abysmal state ever. Ten years of Clinton-bashing. Get over it and start doing what you are paid to do: inform the public.

I did look at the report and note that it states that "we were unable to conclude whether the 2001 transition was worse than previous ones", most specifically referring to the 1993 transition when departing Bush staffers carved initials and dates into furniture, among other things.
Perhaps the regrettable things done by both departing staffs were the result of the stress of seeing the boss put out to pasture, in Mr. Bush's case, by the lawful vote of the citizens of the United States; in Mr. Clinton's case, in favor of a military deserter who won his election 5-4. Some anger might be expected. Nonetheless, I do hope that 43's staff has an opportunity to show what a really classy departure looks like in 2005.
I would love to assist you in your return to journalistic respectability. Feel free to address my more important concern, that Mr. Clinton's term of office was such a triumph that the mind boggles wondering what would have happened if fanatical Constitution-burners like Kenny-boy Starr hadn't tried so hard to pull him down (hint: they only got his pants). I observe you quote the website's reference to the Clinton administration's "anti-family, anti-military" policies. The first accusation sounds like gay-bashing to me, and, for the second, the military was so badly depleted when Mr. Clinton left office that Donald Rumsfeld says it can fight two wars.

at 8:57 this morning i turned on cnbc and maria bartolomo was talking about how the bush stimulus plan is especially good for the pharmaceutical companies! i did not hear anything like that yesterday. she went on to say how the plan was good for people who want to invest their money in the pharmaceutical companies. i am not surprized! jesus god! how do these bush people sleep at night?

I am tired of hearing the double taxation argument regarding Bush's proposal to eliminate taxes on dividends. A company that pays no taxes can still pay dividends. CSX is a perfect example. I can't find any article that mentions this fact. I hope someone does something to expose the double taxation myth.

"My money is in a blind trust ..... so I don't know if I've got any dividends", Bush told reporters. Forbes reports that Bush earned $43,805 in dividends in 2001. How can Bush possibly be this uninformed? Does this moron not look at his prepared income tax statement before he signs it and sends it to I.R.S.?
