Freepers Attack Crossfire!

April 25, 2002

A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL

BuzzFlash readers. Hear Ye, Hear ye!

We hear the Freepers are attacking Begala and Carville and e-mailing CNN demanding they be removed from the show for being unfair. Talk about the Grand Hypocrisy Party at work!

In fact, the Grand Hypocrisy Party leaders have sent out marching orders to their troops to avoid "Crossfire" because Begala and Carville are "unfair." So the drooling jackals that hounded the Clintons for eight years turn out to be cowering whiners when confronted with the truth.

Here is what Paul Begala had to see on Crossfire in response to the Grand Hypocrisy Party/Freeper sniveling:

"The Washington Whispers column of 'U.S. News and World Report' this week has the following tidbit. 'The GOP whisper campaign to boycott CNN's Crossfire has become official policy. Top leaders have told members not to go on the show because they feel co-hosts James Carville and Paul Begala are unfair to them and their views.'

"Well, I have a message for the nameless, gutless whimperers out there. Quit whining. Unlike some other shows, we here at CROSSFIRE actually present both sides of the issue. Every single night, we welcome the leading lights of the Republican right on to battle against their ideological foes. Carville and I make no apologies for being tough, nor do Tucker and Bo. That's what makes this show different.

"Look, if you want namby-pamby one-sided arguments go to Fox. But if you're tough enough and you're smart enough to go toe-to-toe with people who actually know how to debate, welcome to CNN. Welcome to the new CROSSFIRE."

BuzzFlash doesn't normally initiate e-mail campaigns. The Roger Ailes e-mails, for instance, came to us unsolicited from our readers.

But, in this case, enough is enough.

E-mail CNN and tell them that Paul Begala and James Carville are what makes you turn on CNN. Let CNN know that you are watching CNN because of them.

[paragraph removed: see update below]

And be polite. There may be some thin-skinned people over at CNN, like Sue "Stenographer" Schmidt over at the Washington Post. We wouldn't want anyone's sensitive feelings to get hurt.

Hey Paul and James, keep up the good work! We need more Daniels in the lion's den.

UPDATE, 4/26/02, 10:40 AM

This morning, we received a phone call from CNN's Public Information Supervisor, Debbi Wynn. She said that they've received "several hundred" positive emails about Crossfire's new format. She also said that the email accounts of Crossfire's Executive, Sue Bunda, and Walter Isaacson have become overwhelmed. She politely requested that BuzzFlash Readers stop emailing Sue's and Walter's personal accounts (which she asked us to remove from this page) and send all email regarding this issue to crossfire.response@cnn.com. Ms. Wynn said, "We're the people who prepare the [consumer response] reports for senior managment." She assured BuzzFlash that your voices will be heard.
