Ari's Calculated Lie and Retraction March 1, 2002 Of
course, the biggest story of February 28th was the calculated Ari Fleischer
accusation and quick retraction that Clinton is responsible for the violence
in the Middle East. Remember, Ari is kept on a short leash and doesn't
freelance. So why would Karl Rove send Ari out to make an accusation so
brutally preposterous that Rove surely had Ari's apology ready to send
out even before he made the inexcusable, unconscionable charge? Well,
it so happens that the senior enforcement officer in the EPA resigned
on Thursday. The gentleman did not go out quietly. In his resignation
letter, he accused the Bush administration of undermining, undercutting,
and emasculating the EPA. Now this conscientious objector was no "left
wing pinko." In fact, he was appointed by Papa Bush and had nothing
but praise for Mr "Read My Lips." So, Karl Rove had to come up with another of the ongoing Bush Incorporated diversionary tactics. They've started to take some heat for repeatedly trotting out John Ashcroft with diversionary security alerts. So, presto, trot out "the blame Bill Clinton strategy, but make it big." Indeed,
they made it very big. The use of the White House spokesperson to blame
a previous President for the Middle East turmoil, when Bush has sat on
his butt regarding the conflict, is beyond belief. It is coarse, crude
and a defiling of the White House, a betrayal of the honor and dignity
that our nation's leader is supposed to represent. Of course, the Bush administration operatives only know one mode: protect Junior at all costs, even if it means disgracing the White House in the process. A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL |
