Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. June 20, 2006 * * * What happens when you don’t listen to dear old dad? The results in the end show the son was not smarter than Poppy!!! Poppy knew better than to invade Baghdad and unleash Hell, he knew that an occupation in Iraq would be disastrous, he knew that the opposing factions would have difficulty coming together, he knew the leadership in Iran was poised on the fringe to aid and abet their desire for another theocracy, he knew American occupation in an Arab land would destabilize the Middle East! Yessirree, it looks as though Poppy was Bush the Smarter after all!!! I can see the history books now. The father who was short on empathy but long on how not to create a catastrophe was millenniums ahead of the son who turned everything he touched into chaos!!! * * * Just another example of the Repuglican culture of corruption attempting to change the public’s perception! “… the groundwork is now being laid for pardoning Scooter Libby for his alleged crimes relating to the Plame case. How this usually works is a tasked quote-meister like GOP lawyer and uber-insider Joe DeGenova is sent out to give quote floating and legitimizing the idea, to normalize it and make it part of respectable debate.” Has Bush the Junior finally decided to emulate Poppy and follow his example, now that it’s Jr's. behind in a bind? One can only guess, but it looks as though he just might! “… other unnamed sources in the article tell Newsday that the president may feel it necessary to pardon Libby before he goes to trial because of how much adverse information could come out about him and I suspect, even more likely, about the vice president … the president's pardon would be mainly to prevent a trial which would certainly lead to the airing of highly embarrassing and morally incriminating evidence about senior members of his administration, perhaps including himself.” And just to refresh memory, Poppy pardoned Casper Weinberger to avoid culpability! * * * And the radical Repuglicans would have us believe mainstream corporate media in America is “liberal”! It’s all just a myth propagated by those who believe there is no truth, only what they can make you believe! “Karl Rove emerges from the CIA leak case with his reputation scuffed, his power slightly diminished, and Republicans counting on him, once again, to help rescue their House and Senate majorities.” Nothing liberal here, fair and balanced, I don’t think so, “reputation scuffed,” “power slightly diminished”??? For God’s sake the creep leaked the name of a covert CIA agent working on locating foreign development of WMD programs, in order to intimidate her husband and anyone else who dared to tell the American people the truth about the lies this administration was telling to wage a preemptive unnecessary war!!! Whining to a grand jury 5 times to skinny out of lying about who, what, how, when, and where doesn’t negate the fact he outed a CIA agent during a time of war and there is nothing he can do to restore a tarnished reputation!!! * * * Snow: "There Is Too Much Focus on Kidnapped U.S. Soldiers." My God, what is this country coming to when the press secretary for the White House has the audacity to say something as callous, thoughtless, and dismissing like that? These are the kind of statements that prove the Bush administration and their spokesman are the most incompetent fools to ever darken the halls of the White House!!! “Kidnapped U.S. soldiers” and their recovery should be the main focus for those who are responsible for putting our sons and daughters in harm’s way!!! And now we hear the report, “the bodies of Army Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston, and Army Pfc. Thomas Lowell Tucker, 25, of Madras, Ore., were found on a street near a power plant in the town of Youssifiyah, just south of Baghdad.” * * * If anyone ever wondered why we’re in the mess we’re in, just have a look at: “Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) released the first comprehensive assessment of federal contracting under the Bush Administration today in the House Government Reform Committee. The 65-page report “Dollars, Not Sense,” identifies the substantially high spending on contracts since 2000. Instead of shrinking government as promised, Bush has increased procurement spending by 86% to a whopping $377.5 billion annually.” What is it with this Repuglican culture of corruption that the answers always boil down to “follow the money”? * * * More proof Bush should have finished the job in Afghanistan before marching willy nilly into Iraq! “Even before fighting heated up this spring, Lt. Gen. Michael Maples, director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, warned Congress that the insurgents "represent a greater threat" to the pro-U.S. government of Afghan President Hamid Karzai "than at any point since late 2001." But this is Bush, and as has been proven so many times before, he never finishes the turmoil he starts before he’s off to create havoc some place else. It’s as though he thinks if he can make a bigger mess of something else, then no one will remember the previous disasters! Chaos here, chaos there, mayhem here, mayhem there and the pattern of one irresponsible, incompetent, rich kid continues!!! * * * |
