Here we are, three and a half years later, and the reality of events on the ground, over 2400 American soldiers dead, civil war in Iraq, and the Taliban returning to fight in Afghanistan wouldn’t you think that “Mission Accomplished” banner was just a bit premature and the only thing Bush has accomplished is “provoking terrorism” and “not making the world safer”?

One can only imagine what the records from all those non-investigations conducted by the Repuglicans in Congress would reveal if indeed they were open to scrutiny!  No wonder Frist and Hastert are worried about this breach in separation of powers!  Then of course there’s another side of this debate, if indeed the Congress were conducting legitimate in depth investigations into the how, when, and where regarding 9-11 and every other questionable action and/or non-action taken by this administration, and George Bush really had the power to confiscate those records via Alberto Gonzales and the FBI, what would happen then???  Can anyone say “shredder”?  Perhaps a real debate on legality is called for; perhaps there are advantages and disadvantages to this dilemma.

Harnessing the press was the beginning of Hitler’s worldwide terror!  Are we really going to tolerate Hitler’s strategies in this, the 21st Century?  Has history taught us nothing at all?  Are we really going to swallow the propaganda hook, line, and sinker---with the emphasis on SINKER!

Well now, it seems the water has flooded Bush’s shed!  Amnesty International says Bush’s “war on terror is provoking more terror” and “the world is not safer today”!  So much for George Bush, his assertions of progress, and his speeches designed to change perception, because reality tells us it’s all going in the wrong direction!  Lies, words, and flowery speeches do not change the truth and the horrific reality!

What’s Pat Buchanan gonna do now that Jack Bauer has brought a corrupt president to justice?  Is Buchanan still asking the question, “What Would Jack Bauer Do?” Does Buchanan still claim “conservative” ownership of Jack Bauer?  When talking about “censure” or “impeachment” for a president who claims his illegal actions and his lies are for the “good of the country” and “to protect the American people,” at this point it would behoove the Democrats to ask that same question, “What would Jack Bauer do?”  And we all know now that he would bring the ne’er do well, the sorry sack, the crook to justice, that’s what he would do!!!

Poor George, he can’t even recognize a peaceful rebellion when it’s parading with placards right before him!  He simply believes “there’s an unease in America over the war in Iraq.”  Sorry, George, Americans are fed up with the war and all the lies you told that have resulted in the deaths of over 2400 American soldiers and the deaths of thousands of innocents.   Americans are fed up with the probability that you intend to expand that war and increase the number of caskets coming home and the number of graves abroad!

This administration and their affiliates are imposing more rules and regulations on communication than we’ve ever been subjected to before. Today’s bone of contention lays with Jeb Bush and the Repuglicans in Florida who would restrict academic access to Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria. “Although the law pertains to research in a small number of nations, it would affect academics who study a variety of issues -- from architecture [and agriculture] in Cuba to public health in Syria.” This is one instance where “ignorance is NOT bliss” and rules and regulations are not warranted.  Whatever happened to that adage, one must know the enemy, if one is to defeat the enemy?

If indeed the Almighty is as unhappy with us as we’ve been led to believe and has so often been implied by Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, I don’t believe it’s for the reasons they’ve given!  I hardly think that suddenly God is seeking a day of reckoning on the basis of a woman’s choice and same sex marriage.  If, in fact, God is “unhappy,” and since it has been clearly stated in that book of knowledge, so often referred to as the Bible, that “the love of money is the root of all evil,” I am more inclined to believe that the source of dissatisfaction is that the “bottom-line” has taken precedence here in America over the well being of God’s children! I also believe that when the lives of innocent children become so unimportant as to be considered “collateral damage” that somewhere, somehow, in someway this is not acceptable to their Creator.  So if you’re really concerned about what makes for anger in the heavens, follow the money to see who is really profiting from this war, and look to those whose decisions are ultimately responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people!
