Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. May 17, 2006 * * * And I thought the Repuglicans were completely against cloning, silly me---given current events and eyes that don’t lie, I’d swear that Karl Rove and General Hayden’s DNA were intertwined! Then to top it off, looking at and listening to Orrin Hatch, one would have to wonder if he is also related in some way. Strange what modern technology can do, or is it modern politics, either way, these “faith-based” Repuglicans are all joined at the hip and they all believe they alone are supremely above the law! * * * It’s amazing how readily some Americans accept “the war on terrah” and the fear factor that has been generated by the very guys who ignored the August 6th PDB that actually resulted in the horror of 9-11! It is difficult to trust the words of the very people who by hook or crook disregarded the “intelligence” that preceded 9-11 and went on a vacation! It is frightening to see what this same group of Repuglican poachers has done in the name of all that’s unholy to crush American democracy! * * * Lest we all forget---just over a year ago George Bush scrapped a plan to add 9,790 border patrol guards to secure America’s southern borders. Now that he finds himself in a “disapproval” free-fall, he’s looking for a bungee cord to save his behind and wallah, he thinks he found it, The National Guard! They saved his rear end in Iraq, so why not here at home? Besides it’s a temporary band-aid to repair what may have been a severe laceration with his base and another form of “cheap labor,” since they were being paid anyway for regularly scheduled 2 weeks of training! And the coup-de-gras, given the short attention span of the American public, in a year give or take a couple of months, it will all be forgotten and the Border Patrol can remain under-funded, and under-manned, leaving the borders open as a source of cheap labor for big business. * * * “... why do you think the American people are beginning to lose confidence in your husband?” “Well, I don't think they are, and I don't really believe those polls. I travel around the country. I see people. I see their response to my husband. I see their response to me.” So says Laura Bush. What she neglected to say: “I see ‘invited only’ people”! * * * Given the fact he’s sold his soul for “votes,” one would have to wonder, if elected as president, in times of stress, what would John McCain do as Commander in Chief? Hugging and kissing those who have vehemently denounced you and your family are not positive character traits. It does not show strength. Is he in fact just another George Bush willing to do whatever it takes to survive and live for another day in politics? * * * A friend once told me a story about a bunch of men sitting around talking cars and gas mileage way back in the ‘60’s. This was back in the days of big engine, 8-cylinder gas guzzling automobiles. One of the “guys” had recently purchased a brand new top of the line model and of course the question arose, how many MPG’s do you get? His answer would shock this nation, because it was a well known American made luxury sedan---he said, “well I was getting 35 miles to the gallon, and because that was so unusual I took the car back to the dealer and asked if there was something wrong, after an hour and a half of checking it over, they brought my car around and told me, that there had been a mistake, and my new car had had an experimental carburetor installed, they assured me they had taken care of it by removing said carburetor, my new car now gets 9 miles to the gallon!” The technology for better gas mileage has been around for a long time, but then so have the big oil guys who made a deal with the auto industry to maintain the status quo, in order to guarantee profits! The Bush boys have been bilking the American public for a long time, both in business and in government! * * * The only “security of the Diebold’s touch screen machines” is to know they already have secured and they will continue to secure the vote for the Repuglican Party, no matter what! Come on people, do you really want to see Jeb Bush in the White House come 2008? Some states are lining up behind Diebold because they don’t want to admit to their taxpayers they spent millions of dollars on machines that are rigged and do democracy no favors! “As secure as a Wells-Fargo truck,” ha, only if you want one-party control for America, only if you want to see a forced Armageddon, only if you want a Nazi fashioned government with a neo-Hitler at the helm, only if spying on you and your neighbors is acceptable governmental policy, only if preemptive war that kills thousands of innocent people is okay in your book of rules, only if torture and abuse are an up to standard practice for you, etc., etc., etc.! As for me, I’m fed up, and I truly believe if you aren’t with us in fighting for democracy, you’re against us! If you harbor a fascist government, support a fascist government, and vote for a fascist government, then you are definitely a fascist! * * * Whenever I hear that “we are winning the war on terror because we haven't been attacked since 9/11” argument, all I can think of is: We haven’t been attacked because Osama bin Laden knows George Bush is doing the job for him, why waste the time, energy, and funds, when the moron is managing to restrict all the freedoms and liberties Americans think they have! And the extra added bonus happens to be watching Bush bankrupt America with humongous deficits. * * * |
