Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. May 3, 2006 * * * And some thought the “born again” religious fanaticism at the Air Force Academy was just a passing phase! Ha! It’s just another integral part of the grand PNAC plan for world domination and the Bushies don’t plan to stop now! The Bush administration has adopted the bin Laden strategy of harnessing the zealotry of fanatics in order to use them as a fighting force to attain your own selfish goals! We have become our own worst enemy when, as noted in "a one-paragraph item ... in The New York Times (Feb. 10,[2005] p.17): 'Air Force Revises Religion Rules – The Air Force released new guidelines for religious expression, dropping a requirement for chaplains to respect others' rights to their own beliefs and no longer cautioning top officers about promoting their personal religious views.'" * * * Did you really think an oilman Repuglican prezNUT would admit that billions of dollars in profits at the gas pumps was “price-gouging”? Did you for one minute believe this so called “investigation into oil company price gouging” would be “fair and balanced”? Honestly folks, did you really think some rich kid spoiled brat of a one time oil tycoon would tell us peons his Poppy and friends were bleeding us dry? * * * For God’s sake what have we become and uhh, exactly what kind of message does this send to the enemy? “DUBUQUE, Iowa - A grandmother in eastern Iowa is getting one last call to duty. Janet Grass, 52, had planned to retire from the military in about 10 months after spending 19 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Instead, she has been ordered to leave her job as a special-education teacher in Cascade to do security work in the Middle East.” The U.S. is now having to deploy grandmothers to fortify the armed forces??? Osama probably thinks Nirvana has arrived, now that Bush is sending grandmothers to fight his battles! So much for all those glowing “things are going well in Iraq” reports! Come on America, do you want the question to be, “where is your grandmother tonight?” and the answer, “Ohh, she’s over in Iraq fighting insurgents”! * * * What is it with these Repuglicans, buying and selling undervalued real estate for a premium, way over value prices? First Duke Cunningham, and now, ?Karl Rove?! So many houses, so much profit, makes politics priceless! * * * "Bush in ‘ceaseless push for power'"---Hmm, have the fawning, sleeping masses of Repuglicans awakened? Are they actually seeing the handwriting on the wall? Have they finally realized that a “dictatorship” means having absolute authority over all citizens and George Bush intends to rule absolutely? * * * "Another [top aide] said that 'the president was visibly angered by the sharp lines that kept coming.' 'I've been there before, and I can see that he is [angry],' said a former top aide.' 'He's got that look that he's ready to blow.'" And just why do you think they keep him, Bush, on such a tight leash, why does he speak only to invited audiences and staunch supporters? Because his temper has a short fuse, that’s why! They know he can’t control his anger when the going gets tough, like when he’s criticized! HOORAY AGAIN FOR STEPHEN COLBERT, I can’t say thank you enough! His performance as Jon Stewart so aptly said was of course “balls-alicious”! * * * My heroes, it just goes to show, you can instill fear in some of the people some of the time, but you can’t scare all the people all the time! Most of the people will see through the scam---“Mehlman replied by acknowledging that Iraq was a ‘challenge,’ but claimed it’s ‘less of a challenge than when Saddam Hussein was in power.’ The room filled with boos and hisses.” * * * To Steny Hoyer, Democrat, Maryland, I say, it was “in bad taste” and horrific to ignore an August 6th PDB that resulted in the horror of 9-11, it was “in bad taste” and horrific to wage a preemptive unnecessary war based on lies, it was “in bad taste” and horrific not to properly equip the army sent to war, it was “in bad taste” and horrific to rain “shock and awe” down on innocent people, it was “in bad taste” and horrific to ignore the Geneva Conventions and torture and abuse prisoners, it was “in bad taste” and horrific for our government to ignore the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and allow such devastating consequences happen to American citizens on American soil, it is “in bad taste” and horrific to ignore the Constitution and spy on Americans, it is “in bad taste” and horrific to allow big oil to gouge Americans for humongous profits. I could go on but I will close in saying, Steny Hoyer, your claim to being a Democrat is “in bad taste”! * * * |
