Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. April 27, 2006 * * * Yale must cringe, knowing the whole world knows George Bush is an alumnus! 4 years at Yale, post graduate work at Harvard, and this “There was bombings today in Egypt.” is what you get! Not exactly a rousing recommendation for those halls of higher learning! * * * Has a cat got whiskers, is the Pope Catholic, does a bear s*#t in the woods, “Did Bush lie America into the Iraq War”? Yes, yes, yes, and a great big YES! * * * It has taken a lot of years and a whole lotta inane Repuglican policies, but Jimmy Carter has finally been vindicated! * * * How many chances is Rove going to get, to get it right? Seems to me a lie is a lie, no matter how many ways you tell it! And they’ve all most certainly lied, otherwise Scooter Libby wouldn’t be in the boiler pot now. Just think about it, had Bush/Cheney said they “declassified” the info way back when, then no one would have been about the business of lying to the Special Prosecutor! This whole administration is beyond redemption, and IMPEACHMENT is long overdue! * * * It’s ludicrous when Joe Q. Public has to pawn a wedding ring to buy a tank of gas while, “The retirement compensation package given by Exxon Mobil Corp. to outgoing Chairman Lee Raymond is said to total $400 million when all pension payoffs and stock options are included.” But then what can you expect when oilmen are privy to private meetings with the Vice President to map out an “energy” package? "For its part, the Bush Administration is dismissive of serious conservation. Vice President Cheney, who headed an Administration task force to devise an energy strategy -- a group whose work was carried out in secret and whose papers remain secret --expressed the attitude two years ago in a now infamous way: 'Conservation may be a sign of personal virtue, but it is not a sufficient basis for a sound, comprehensive energy policy.'" * * * “TUCKER: But there does seem to be at least one guy on the consumer side. Congressman Weldon is proposing that the federal excise tax be eliminated for one year. That would cut 18 cents a gallon off the price of gas immediately, and he's challenging the states to match that with the elimination of their state taxes. So, Lou, consumers could end up realizing a savings of perhaps as much as 40 cents a gallon right away.” Now this may ease the price of gas for consumers, but exactly what does it do about the exorbitant profits the oil industry is realizing? Absolutely NOTHING! Oh, these Repuglicans, they’ll do anything to protect their campaign donations. How about simply saying to the oilmen, billions in profits is ridiculous, cut the price of gas, period! * * * What is it with these Repuglicans, these self-proclaimed czars of morality, these pillars of radical religion, who are willing to tell a blatant, bald-faced lie at the drop of a hat? Moral, my behind, there isn’t a moral fiber in any one of them! “BENNETT: But I have got to tell you, what fascinates me is the degree of interest by all of the media in this case. We are talking about a -- the name of an agent that was not covert. There was no damage done to the CIA or classified information. And, yet, the whole world of the media is absolutely obsessed with it.” Just to bring Bennett up to date, Valerie Plame was a covert CIA agent before the White House so cavalierly revealed her identity for the purpose of intimidation! * * * Is this a joke??? Did the Senate really recommend abolishing FEMA a month before hurricane season begins? Sounds like just some more government mumbo-jumbo to me! Perhaps, FEMA would better serve the people of these United States if there were competent leadership directing the operations, perhaps we would be better served with leadership in the White House that cared more about the people than they do vacationing. Reshuffling, renaming, revamping, and plain old political gobbledygook isn’t enough! This nation deserves more and better than the shiftless, sleazy, bunch of corrupt ne’er do wells that walk the halls of Congress and the White House today! * * * Nero fiddled---Bush rides a bike! If they can’t even get a response to “natural disasters” under control, what do you think they’ll do in the event of that “dirty bomb” we’ve heard so much about? I can see it all now, someone whispers into George’s ear that there’s been an explosion, it's said, we believe it’s a dirty bomb, and he responds, get my bike ready I’m going for a ride, and make sure there’s a guitar handy, cause I have another lesson this afternoon! Frankly, the thought that the safety and security of my family is in the hands of such idiots goes beyond scary! May God help America! * * * Lest we all forget, thousands of innocent people including children are dead, more than 2300 American soldiers are dead because “Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.” * * *
