Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. March 7, 2006 * * * Oh, the fairy tales painted by the radicals to make their boy George look good, they’re as pathetic as those painted by Bush himself. Trading “nukes for mangoes” may have been a delightful respite for George Bush, but it’s a stretch to think it’s an equal trade for America. “In New Delhi today, President Bush signed a deal giving India access to sensitive U.S. nuclear technology. The deal is being hailed as a very important arrangement between the United States and India. The U.S. will receive access, by the way, as a result of turning over that high nuclear technology to India, the United States will be receiving Indian mangoes.” * * * Parallels can be amazing---and taking one’s own advice would be of benefit to the United States Military! "When you're forming a government, you can't form it with any kind of sectarian element," said Major General J.D. Thurman, commander of the 4th Infantry Division, charged with controlling Baghdad. "That's got to be put aside, particularly with military forces." Go tell that to the Repuglican party and the leadership in the military who are determined to claim Repuglican ownership of the United States Military right here in America!!! * * * I have a dream---seeing Katherine Harris “frogmarched” in handcuffs off to jail, do not pass Go, do not collect any more money, go to jail, go directly to jail! She was one of those radical Repuglicans who aided and abetted the theft of a presidency, she enabled the moron’s rise to power, and justice should be her only reward! Off to a prison boot camp for her! And, by the by, the prosecutor would do well to expand his investigation to include that gorilla in the family, Jeb Bush and his Florida “favors.” * * * While Tony Blair may be in lock-step with George W. Bush, the people of the British Isles certainly are not! Mixing religion and politics is not a good thing, even if some in America think it is! We have survived as a nation for over 200 years by separating church and state, and from the very bleak look of a future under George W. Bush, I’m not so sure we’ll survive another 10 or 20! * * * Hmm, Jeb Bush's office is refusing to turn over documents related to a $400,000 tax credit for MZM, Inc., whose former chief executive pleaded guilty last week to bribery and illegal campaign contributions. A connection to federal contracts amounting to some $236 million, yes that’s million, for a Florida cruise ship line to sit half empty post Hurricane Katrina. (Just think what Habitat for Humanity could have done with that $236 million dollars in providing homes for those victims of the hurricane who lost everything). And Jeb Bush’s spokesman is kept really busy denying “impropriety”! * * * Talk about Wolf Blitzer’s softballs---in an attempt to paint a warm and fuzzy picture for the Dubai Ports deal, Blitzer took a trip to Dubai, and his descriptions definitely do not reflect “previous terrorist involvement” or “two of the 9-11 hijackers were from Dubai” or “terrorist money was laundered through Dubai”---no we heard about “Disneyworld,” “Miami,” and at one point “Vegas.” If you listened to Blitzer, you’d think the Ports deal was being negotiated by Walt Disney’s reincarnate, or maybe some company wanting to invest in vacation packages that would include tours of fantasy lands. Blitzer’s pro Bush efforts have become so blatantly transparent; one has to wonder whatever happened to objective reporting! Blitzer even gave the audience a bird’s eye view helicopter tour for all to see the wonders of this Middle-Eastern Nirvana. In advertising I believe it’s called the “hook”! "BLITZER: I'll take you on an extraordinary ride over this futuristic metropolis of the Persian Gulf …. That deal means a lot to this city, which is a mix of Miami and Disneyworld, with towering skyscrapers. I flew over the area earlier today. The view is simply extraordinary." * * * Semantics can be a useful tool when making up excuses, but to a drowning person, does it really make any difference what caused the flood? For God’s sake, people, George Bush had been informed there would be big problems with the levees in a Class 4 or 5 Hurricane, Katrina was both, New Orleans was flooded, people were sitting on roof tops, the lucky ones who were able to make it to the roof, the others died drowning in a sea of foul water and due to a lack of response by those who claimed to be prepared! There is no benefit of doubt here, the immature son of privilege acting as president continued on his vacation schedule, of photo-ops, birthday celebrations, and guitar lessons while American citizens were literally drowning, he did nothing to save their lives when saving their lives may have been possible! His devil may care attitude will be the death of us all if allowed to continue! This is the same moron who ignored an August 6th PDB, he lied about WMDs, he ignored warnings about the levees---what’s next and who will be the victims of his intentional incompetence in the future, because to do nothing and allow him to stay in office most certainly guarantees another devastating, catastrophic event! Impeachment is the only answer, and that must include this whole bunch of corrupt, war mongering, wannabee dictators who stole the hearts and souls of American Democracy! * * * If Bush goes down in a blaze of scandal, then what’s left for the GOP presidential 2008 hopefuls? These guys know their chances of getting elected are nil---and that is why they are doing everything they can to cover up the criminal acts of governance committed by the current administration! And besides, it’s pretty damn convenient to have the NSA spying on the political competition, so that is why they’re pushing for the warrantless surveillance by the NSA! Terrorism comes in many forms, and don’t be surprised if it springs up in places you’d least expect, and in ways you never thought could happen! The only lesson the GOP learned from Watergate, is how to do it better! * * * "Bob instills confidence -- a man of his experience, there's something comforting about that," says CBS President Les Moonves.” What Mr. Moonves neglected to tell you, is Bob Schieffer also has a brother who is a former Texas Ranger business partner of G.W. and was appointed by Bush to be Ambassador to Australia. And did I mention the Schieffers are also “golfing buddies” of G.W. Bush? So much for confidence and comfort! The only one who can actually claim confidence and find comfort in this relationship is G.W. Bush! * * * |
