Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. March 6, 2006 * * * Call it what you will, “sectarian” boils down to two opposing forces willing to fight for domination, and last I knew when that happens within a given area its called civil war! * * * Our future will be short lived if George Bush is allowed to continue his march on world dominance and it will come as no surprise to many in these United States. No matter how you pronounce it, “nuclear” means annihilation and it won’t be limited to fighting them over there! * * * If Bush was completely engaged at all times, then exactly why did New Orleans suffer the death and destruction that resulted from Hurricane Katrina? “…presidential spokesman Trent Duffy said, ''He [Bush] received multiple briefings from multiple officials, and he was completely engaged at all times." The questions become, why the hell didn’t he do something above and beyond maintaining his vacation schedule, why didn’t he attend to the business of the people, why didn’t he fulfill his oath to protect the American people? Bush’s vacations always seem to end in disaster for the American people. It's way past time to fire the lot of them and get some competent leadership in the White House! If there is truly something to fear these days, it’s an immature, frat boy spoiled brat who thinks he’s more than he can ever be! * * * In watching the security arrangements for Bush’s visit to Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan, I am struck by the absurdity of his basic promotional phrase; you know, the one about spreading freedom and democracy! When your plans suddenly change to include an unannounced quick visit to a country that is supposedly secured and when it becomes necessary to sneak into a foreign country in the dead of night with a small army for protection you have to know, that “freedom” thing isn’t working very well. As a matter of fact, I didn’t see even one adoring thankful crowd aired in this the latest “building foreign relations” gig! "MALVEAUX, CNN WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT: Wolf, it really is amazing, the extraordinary security … taking place here -- of course, Air Force One landing under a veil of darkness, reporters asked to put down the shades of their windows. The lights on the aircraft were actually turned off. They landed the aircraft. And, then, of course, there was a decoy when President Bush landed. There was the long motorcade and then two Black Hawk helicopters, and then a bus that came through. You could not tell whether or not the president got into the limousine or aboard those choppers, both of them whisked away. And then we saw the motorcade, of course, speed off down the deserted roads to that fortified U.S. Embassy. That is where the president is staying overnight -- all of this extraordinary security measures that they're taking. At the same time, across the country, you see these anti-American protests that erupted, this one pictures from actually -- from Karachi, southern Pakistan. This comes, of course, simply a day after a -- two bombs went off in Karachi, Pakistan, killing, outside the U.S. Consulate, one U.S. diplomat and three others -- all of this, Wolf, in anticipation of meetings that are going to take place within just hours. The two leaders will sit side by side. We expect President Bush, of course, will praise Musharraf for being a close ally in the war on terror, but also telling him that he needs to do more -- Wolf. BLITZER: Suzanne, wherever the president goes, the security is incredibly tight. He can go to Cleveland or Chicago; the security is very tight. You have traveled with him all over the world. Do you notice different security precautions where you are in Islamabad right now? MALVEAUX: Well ... for the first time, we actually came on the press charter separate from the president, and we were, as well, asked to put down the shades of our windows, to make sure that our plane was not actually spotted coming into Islamabad. That was something very unique. And, of course, this is a ghost town. I mean, these streets are very, very quiet. You see security everywhere. It really is extraordinary, when you think about the measures that he's taking." * * * Wherever he goes, George Bush takes the fear of “terrah” with him! Not welcome here, is becoming the mat for this American president. I’m beginning to understand fully what it meant when FDR said “we have nothing to fear but FEAR itself”! Being the fearful coward he is, Bush has wrapped the cloak of fear around everything American. * * * At least there are some real Patriots in these United States--I’d venture a guess and I’m hoping that there are a whole lot more who would be willing to come forward in an effort to save this country! If only they weren’t afraid of losing their jobs, or even worse as we’ve seen the Repuglican smear machine [see "Idiotarian Prophet"] capable of doing thus far to those who would tell the truth. To borrow a phrase from Jesse Jackson---“Keep hope alive”---because right now hope is what we have! * * * What had once been the United States military has now become the Repuglican military and as such only Repuglicans should be inducted! If they are going to claim ownership, then let them send their own to fight their battles! Are we seeing a form of “sectarian” alignment right here at home? My nephew's words keep coming back to haunt----“I voted for Bush because I am career military, not because I wanted to”! The very thing that these guys are supposed to be defending---DEMOCRACY---is being undermined by the civilian and military leadership sitting in today’s Washington, D.C.! * * * Strange how things come back around to bite you in the behind!!! Without giving it a second thought the Repuglicans gleefully trashed the reputation of a true Viet Nam veteran hero, Democrat Max Cleland, in 2002 for political gain! All the while one of their own, Repuglican Viet Nam veteran, Duke Cunningham was taking bribes for favors. Patriots? I hardly think so! The Repuglicans are nothing more than a corrupt bunch of opportunists out to make a quick buck. The “war on terrah” was seen as an opportunity to make them all richer than they already are, the lives of our troops, for the Repuglicans, was simply a vehicle for wealth. * * * The web of corruption and deceit is interwoven to include every government agency in the United States when the Repuglicans boast power! To our peril, from the White House, through the Congress, down the line into every agency bearing the name of United States Government, we find Repuglican opportunists ever ready to make a quick buck off trusting Americans. * * * The audacity of a war monger visiting the memorial of an “icon pacifist” will not go unnoticed, especially when he brought the dogs along for his personal protection over objections of having sniffer dogs on sacred ground! It only goes to prove George Bush is not cognizant of cultural customs, and the fact he does not care is not my idea of how to win friends and influence people! “Raising the issue in the Rajya Sabha, Kirpa Parmar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the presence of sniffer dogs at a 'holy place' like Mahatma Gandhi's memorial was an 'assault on the dignity of the nation.'" * * * |
