Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. March 1 , 2006 * * * A regular guy works hard all his life, contributes to his retirement fund looking forward to the day when grandchildren, fishing, and volunteering are the joys that will fill his waking hours, then along comes corruption wipes it all out, and leaves him looking for a job just to survive. Now, if you are the Vice President of the United States and believe that political influence drives the bottom line and the delivery of no bid contracts, you can make sure your retirement fund and then some, your beer drinking and hunting days are guaranteed by the American taxpayer regular guy who lost it all! Yessirree bobtail, life under a Repuglican regime, they make sure you owe your “soul to the company store” so they can retire to a life of luxury. * * * This one just takes the cake, after bombing them, killing them, torturing and abusing them, how like the radicals in America to expect gratitude and a heart felt "Thank You" from the Iraqi people! Iraq is not the equivalent of a one-armed-bandit with high hopes of winning a lot of money after being played---or IS IT? “Should national unity prevail, Iraq's chances of becoming a stable democracy will improve dramatically. I'd like to see one other thing in Iraq, an outbreak of gratitude for the greatest act of benevolence one country has ever done for another. A grateful Iraqi heart would be a sign of a new Iraqi attitude and a signal of sure success” (Fred Barnes, April, 2004). * * * Whatever happened to that age old, tried and true principle of fighting fire with fire? For over 5 years now the Democrats have been playing nice with the Repuglicans and exactly where has that gotten us? Nowhere Land, that’s where! Polite and nice ended for me when the vote was stolen from the people and the election given to the biggest loser of all time, and all the while, Al Gore, though he was a fighter, in the end a polite gentleman who “reasonably” conceded the election. Then in 2002, when the Repuglicans destroyed Max Cleland, again the Democrats were polite conversationalists, while the Repuglicans had the audacity to trash a triple amputee, who left 3 limbs in Viet Nam while defending his country, by accusing him of being unpatriotic, and those same Repugs never, I repeat NEVER, served a day in uniform defending these United States. Along comes 2004, questionable voting practices, voter disenfranchisement, secret vote tallies, Repuglican dominated poll workers and dirty tricks galore, again the Democrats made nice and John Kerry conceded another election to his Skull and Bones Frat brother, giving us the chaos we find the world in today. I cannot find one nice thing to say about this bunch of arrogant crooks in the White House or this bunch of corrupt Repuglicans in Congress. I find their politics appalling, their methods horrendous, their actions inexcusable, and I, for one, will not play nice regarding the things they’ve done to undermine and destroy freedom and democracy in America. I find the BuzzFlash link lead ins, sometimes humorous, sometimes exact, and sometimes a reflection of precisely what I am feeling on any given day regarding the Repuglicans and the Bush administration! As a matter of fact, I question the authenticity of those who think that attack dog, snarky Repuglicans deserve even a scrap of verbal civility! As long as there is a Constitution in America, I will not bend; I will not bow, to anyone, who would be a dictator in these United States. * * * George Bush, the immature bully boy who cried wolf so often, he is finally hoisted with his own petard! He has generated a fog of fear so far and wide that “trust me” is pathetic! His policies are so dangerous that “trust me” assures more peril and danger! His lies and subterfuges are so blatant that “trust me” is impossible! * * * It’s really an unfair and unbalanced budget Bush has proposed for regular Americans! Giving to the very rich while taking from the poor is not an equitable proposition. Trickle down does absolutely nothing in a poor man’s uphill battle for survival. Breaking promises to those who risk life and limb in defense of their country is an unbelievable act of coldhearted callousness that could only be committed by a classless sociopath. Compassion is definitely NOT a reflection of this radical conservative. Greedy rich guy moron is a more apt description! * * * How’s this for “trust me”??? “Joseph King, who headed the customs agency's anti-terrorism efforts under the Treasury Department and the new Department of Homeland Security, said national security fears are well grounded. He said a company the size of Dubai Ports World would be able to get hundreds of visas to relocate managers and other employees to the United States. Using appeals to Muslim solidarity or threats of violence, al-Qaeda operatives could force low-level managers to provide some of those visas to al-Qaeda sympathizers, said King, who for years tracked similar efforts by organized crime to infiltrate ports in New York and New Jersey. Those sympathizers could obtain legitimate driver's licenses, work permits and mortgages that could then be used by terrorist operatives. Dubai Ports World could also offer a simple conduit for wire transfers to terrorist operatives in the Middle East. Large wire transfers from individuals would quickly attract federal scrutiny, but such transfers, buried in the dozens of wire transfers a day from Dubai Ports World's operations in the United States to the Middle East would go undetected, King said.” * * * |
