Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. December 1 , 2005 * * * If there isn’t an August the 6th PDB around to ignore, then you do the best you can with what you have--at least this is what I presume the Bushies had in mind when they decided to allow “sharp objects” on planes again! Whodathunk a “box-cutter” would be the weapon of choice for terrorists pre 9-11? Whoda suspected smelly tennis shoes could be used as a Weapon of Mass Destruction? Is this administration looking for another 9-11 in hopes of saving George Bush’s ratings in the polls? You have to know things are really bad, if and when a question like this becomes pertinent for our safety and security! * * * And some thought Rumsfeld’s Office of Disinformation” had been disbanded! In a detailed revelation on how the “US Military Covertly Pays to Run Stories in Iraqi Press,” we find “the process for placing the stories (articles, written by U.S. military ‘information operations’ troops) begins when soldiers write ‘story boards’ of events in Iraq, such as a joint U.S.-Iraqi raid on a suspected insurgent hide out.” In Bush’s speech yesterday, he had this to say: “... in Tal Afar … the assault was primarily led by Iraqi security forces.” My God, you don’t suppose that George Bush is reading something besides “My Pet Goat,” and as a result believes his own propaganda? * * * George Bush is finding out that when Pandora’s Box is opened, the most horrific things come pouring out! Not only has Iraq become a quagmire for the U.S., a war of insurgency, and a haven for bin Laden terrorists; it is now a breeding ground for genocide! I wonder if some of Bush’s supporters here in America can see that having a “regular guy” for a president wasn’t such a good idea after all! An irresponsible, spoiled, frat-boy, rich kid bully, accustomed to having his own way, with repressed issues of being a better man than his father has most certainly caused more death and destruction, more chaos and confusion, more crimes against humanity than any “evil-doer” could conceive! * * * If they’ll use U.S. military “information operations” troops to write articles and pose as independent journalists in Iraq, what makes you think they aren’t feeding mainstream corporate media the same propaganda here at home? If indeed things are going well in Iraq, then why the hell do they need to embellish and/or falsify the good news messages? This entire ordeal is pure bull, written and produced to create a false image, just like that farce of a presidency called George W. Bush! I cringe at the thought that these lunatics are in control of our safety and security! * * * “… as part of a psychological operations campaign that has intensified over the last year, the task force also had purchased an Iraqi newspaper and taken control of a radio station, and was using them to channel pro-American messages to the Iraqi public. ... The official would not disclose which newspaper and radio station are under U.S. control, saying that naming them would put their employees at risk of insurgent attacks.” So now every newspaper and radio station is at risk in Iraq! * * * Exactly who does George Bush think he’s conning here? There was no strategic plan laid out in this the latest “major” speech! All we heard was the same old, same old, empty rhetorical phrases wrapped up in red, white, and blue, in other words a “pep talk” such as a coach in little league would give to his players as the team was about to face the menacing champs from last year! It’s a sorry state of affairs when the leadership has taken this country into battle on manipulated intelligence, costing the lives of thousands of innocent people as well as over 2100 American troops, and all he’s got to offer the American people is a cheerleader’s rah, rah, rah! And frankly those crocodile tears he managed to conjure up at the end of this waste of time were indicative of his fear over losing his personal political battle, and not over the diabolical death and destruction he himself created! * * * "He did not say that the terrorists now in Iraq had anything to do with the 2001 terror attacks in the United States, but he powerfully linked the two, saying they 'share the same ideology.'" Of course he neglected to tell us that the terrorists now in Iraq who share the same ideology are there because he left the war in Afghanistan, allowing bin Laden to go free, and waged a war in Iraq which allowed the terrorists access to Iraq! Face it, George Bush screwed up big time, and we will certainly be paying the price with those we hold most dear--our children--because this maniacal bunch of chicken-hawks surely won’t be sending their loved ones to fight this war they started in Iraq! * * * Ah, how soon we forget--“protest zones,” people who drive cars with a negative Bush bumper sticker arrested, people with negative Bush messages on their T-shirts thrown out, senior citizens with negative banners thrown to the ground and arrested while attempting to attend a Bush rally in a stadium in Tampa. Come on, Bush has avoided contact with “regular” citizens since the get go! It would be nice to think he’s only just begun this bizarre practice, but he’s been doing it ever since he stole the office. Invited-only audiences with applause monitors have been a part of every so-called “public,” “grass-roots” appearance he’s made since the Supreme Court anointed him as president! * * *
