Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. October 27, 2005 * * * BREAKING NEWS----HARRIET MIERS WITHDRAWS HER NOMINATION!!! BUSH RELUCTANTLY ACCEPTS!!! And so the extremists of the radical religious right seem to have won this fight! But I wonder if the “Hearings” may have been more revealing than this White House wanted in the public arena! So much for Bush being “brave and bold,” it is now as clear as a bell, George Bush will tuck tail and run when there’s the slightest hint of a fight! * * * I believe Harriet Miers resigned because the Senate hearings would eventually reveal a whole hell of a lot of George Bush’s lies, and they can’t afford the public knowing about all the lies that have been told. They can’t afford testimony from a Lawrence Littwin---a man who was fired from the Texas Lottery Commission in 1997. And the following, from a television channel in Texas, is just a hint revealing the dirty laundry they don’t want aired--- “Another lottery official has claimed Miers let a company keep its contract because one of its lobbyists helped President Bush get into the National Guard in the 1960's.” * * * As I listen to Ed Gillespie, former chairman of the RNC, and suggested Rove replacement, double talk about the reasons for Harriet Miers' resignation on CNN, I am even more convinced this administration decided they couldn’t afford the information that would come to the fore in her Senate hearings. Believe me, George Bush in a second illegitimate term with no need to ever be “elected,” isn’t worried about the objections from the rabid religious right. He’s worried about priority #1--- his ass! And that adds up to info that could impeach and frog-march him out of Washington! * * * It’s amazing how many “commentators” were primed and ready to talk about the Miers resignation! Sounds like “smoke and mirrors,”“Wag the Woman,” bull to deflect the attention from the real issue - that this White House lied to wage a preemptive, unnecessary war, and that things ain’t going too well in Iraq! * * * We can feel the wind blowing out of Washington as a whole lot of people in the Bush administration are sighing in relief over a short reprieve in the “news of the day”! Mainstream media will shift their focus now to the Harriet Miers resignation. Karl Rove, Scooter Libby, Dick Cheney, Tom DeLay, Bill Frist, et al. can side-step scrutiny for awhile. I can still hope, though, that this is the beginning of a mass EXODUS. * * * Is Tom DeLay hoping that something other than his court appearance will dominate the news of the day? Scooter Libby’s indictment? Or maybe Karl Rove “frog-marched” out of the White House in handcuffs? Perhaps Dick Cheney’s resignation? Or maybe just maybe some “source” will have the courage to reveal George Bush himself was in the thick of all this underhanded “political strategy” to cover-up the lies he told to wage a preemptive, unnecessary war resulting in the deaths of thousands of innocent people and over 2000 American soldiers! Frankly, Tom DeLay has nothing to hope for or smile about, because there’s nothing admirable in what they’ve done, no matter how they spin the horror they’ve all created! Perhaps we’re seeing the “progress” of their evil brought to a screeching halt! * * * Just as Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda hijacked Islam and turned it into a tool for terrorists, the Bush administration, the Repuglican party, and the radical right-wing religious fanatics have hijacked Christianity and turned it into a political tool! Extremism morphs goodness into evil and invalidates the original intent. We are witness to exactly how Good becomes Evil when used by man to achieve an immoral result. * * * “Payback is hell,” but certainly sweet, and no one deserves “payback” more than the arrogant moron perched in the White House! This from the former chief of staff to George H. W.: "We always made sure the President was hearing all the possibilities," John Sununu, who served as chief of staff to George H.W. Bush, said. "That's one of the differences between the first Bush Administration and this Bush Administration." * * * |
