Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. September 22, 2005 * * * What manner of chicanery, bribery, and intimidation is George up to now? How many Senators are going to “cave” on the confirmation of John Roberts? As I listened to Patrick Leahy say he had to take Judge Roberts at his word and would vote to confirm him, the thought ran through my mind---how can you possibly take the word of a slick, smooth talking, snake-oil salesman when he’s doing his very best to screw you?? * * * Wouldn’t you think someone in corporate mainstream print media would realize that Joe Public can no longer abide the fact that the print news is nothing more than a reflection of the media’s obvious collaboration with the White House and the Office of Disinformation?? Wouldn’t you think the public has decided not to support those who support George Bush? We may not have control over one person, one vote in these United States since Repuglican fix-the-facts black-box voting machines have appeared on the scene, but by all that’s holy, we can still choose where to spend what little money we have left jingling around in our pockets and believe you me the richest one percent who benefited from George’s scam don’t spend their money in the Wal-Marts of America. The public is fed up with being fed the bulls*&t media has brought to us these last five and a half years. We want the news, we want to know what’s really happening in Iraq, we want to know why the Federal Government failed the people of New Orleans, we want to know why there are no jobs and what’s being done about it. We’re tired of hearing about George Bush “working hard” when he hasn’t done an honest day's work in his entire life, we’re tired of hearing about “progress” where there is nothing but disaster, we’re tired of “reporters” who would willingly cover for White House “sources” revealing CIA identities, we’re tired of intimidation, and bullies, we’re fed up with the Bush administration, and it’s time for the media to start talking about the solution to today’s problems in America. It’s time to IMPEACH GEORGE BUSH! * * * It doesn’t take a story in the Enquirer to know George Bush is tapping the sauce again. As a matter of fact, given his “affect,” one could ponder the notion: Did he ever really quit? His inability to think on his feet, his lack of knowledge, as well as his lack of interest in anything other than self, goes to supporting the fact that he’s been in a fog since day one! It’s been a heart wrenching, deliberate scam on the American public, making them believe what Karl et al. wanted them to believe; that a lackluster, “reformed” alcoholic, “reformed” drug addict, ne’er-do-well was just a “regular guy” deserving of the presidency simply because he claimed to have been “born again”! * * * When all is said and done, Brownie sure did do a "heckofa" job for George, only it was last year, further down south, in Florida. “Michael Brown, the embattled head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, approved payments in excess of $31 million in taxpayer money to thousands of Florida residents who were unaffected by Hurricane Frances and three other hurricanes last year in an effort to help President Bush win a majority of votes in that state during his reelection campaign, according to published reports. 'Some Homeland Security sources said FEMA's efforts to distribute funds quickly after Frances and three other hurricanes that hit the key political battleground state of Florida in a six-week period last fall were undertaken with a keen awareness of the looming presidential elections,' according to a May 19 Washington Post story. Homeland Security sources told the Post that after the hurricanes ... Brown 'and his allies [recommended] him to succeed Tom Ridge as Homeland Security secretary because of their claim that he helped deliver Florida to President Bush by efficiently responding to the Florida hurricanes.'" * * * Some fatherly advice from Poppy that should have been given to George before he preemptively invaded Iraq! But as usual for the Bush family in an effort to skinny out of any personal responsibility these words were used to smear Bill Clinton after the Somalia tragedy! "If you're going to put somebody else's son or daughter into harm's way, into battle, you've got to know the answer to three questions," Bush told the students. He said the president has to know what the mission is, "how they are going to do it," and "how they're going to get out of there." Several news reports noted that Bush's comments appeared to violate his earlier pledge not to publicly criticize Clinton during his first year in office. [The New York Times, 10/14/93; The Boston Globe, 10/23/93]” * * * What would you like to bet that when George Bush’s term comes to an end, he’ll never step foot outside the United States again as long as he lives! He won’t take any chances that somewhere in the world outside these borders, someone will hold him responsible for the unnecessary deaths of thousands of innocent people! Someone, somewhere, will recognize his culpability in ordering up torture and abuse on detainees! Someone, somewhere, will have some real compassion and realize the horror he created for the children, caught up in his act of personal revenge, cannot go unanswered. Someone, somewhere, in the world will know his was an effort to control the profits to be made from the oil in Iraq, and declare that his greed must be recognized and punished. Yessiree bobtail, he’ll never venture very far from his Texas stronghold down there in Crawford! He’ll live out his years in comfort behind those fortified walls on the ranch watching TV, not eating those damned pretzels. * * * “Wiesenthal once reflected: ‘Should history repeat itself, my example will repeat itself too…and not once, but fifty-fold.” As we watch the rebirth of fascism right before our very eyes and right here in America, one can only hope, those who would follow the lead of Simon Wiesenthal would have the courage to stop it before it goes any further. Justice would indeed be served by those who recognize the horrors that are evolving in this modern day Bush/Rove world of preemptive invasions, torture and abuse, censored media, erosion of civil rights and civil liberties, and the annihilation of freedom and democracy. Certainly the “Wiesenthals” of today should be smart enough to see the shadows of swastikas on the walls in this White House. * * * |
