Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. September 9, 2005 The latest bit of irony coming from George Bush---"Bush Sends Vice President to New Orleans." ... "He'll work with Secretary Chertoff and others to make sure that we remove any obstacles, bureaucratic obstacles that may be preventing us from achieving our goals. In other words, bureaucracy is not going to stand in the way of getting the job done for the people." The biggest bureaucrat in the world is sent to remove bureaucratic obstacles that may be preventing success. Now that’s the biggest hoot of all! Again the question, “Incompetence or Intention” has got to be asked! * * * One has to wonder if this story, “UN Raises Alarm on Death Squads and Torture in Iraq,” will receive the same amount of attention that the “Oil for Food Scandal” has attracted by mainstream corporate media in America. Now that Karen Hughes is “embedded” in her new office as Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy, I hardly think Americans will be granted an opportunity to get the truth! * * * It doesn’t take a lot of “intelligence” to figure out “what went wrong”! It all started with the theft of an election in the year 2000, and rapidly progressed to an ignored August 6th PDB, which led to the horrific tragedy of 9-11, and quickly deteriorated into a preemptive, “fixed the facts” war in Iraq, looking for WMD’s and “mushroom clouds” that weren’t there, resulting in the increased spread of terrorism world wide. And while all this was happening low and behold you, George Bush, ignored your number one duty to the people of the United States of America, you did not provide for their protection against any and all assaults, you cut funding which was of vital importance to the safety and security of the people of New Orleans which resulted in the worst disaster to happen on American soil! And that, you incompetent piece of human excrement, you are what went wrong!!!! * * * "I think all of those remarks are disgusting, to be perfectly frank, because of course President Bush cares about everyone in our country," the first lady said... And I know that...I'm the person who lives with him, I know what he's like and I know what he thinks and I know how he cares about people." Too bad for all those who died in New Orleans and up and down the Gulf Coast, that Laura didn’t know him well enough to get him off his duff to do something before those people died. Too bad she didn’t know him well enough to encourage him to heed the warnings regarding the damage that would happen if a Category 4 or 5 Hurricane hit New Orleans. Too bad for all those “underprivileged” souls who are now displaced, driven from their homes, because George was busy “caring about people” while riding bicycles down on the ranch and strumming guitars in California! * * * The plight of the victims of Hurricane Katrina has just become another conduit for George Bush’s cronyism and corruption. Imagine giving $50 billion dollars to Michael Brown, the man who “didn’t know their were people at the Convention Center in New Orleans.” Imagine giving a man whose qualifications include “political hack” all that money to reconstruct New Orleans. First he breaks it then he gets the money to “fix” it—I don’t think so! This $50 billion will go the same way as the billions unaccounted for in Iraq. The only difference being, instead of putting it on the back of pick-up trucks to be dumped off, it will go into boats, for distribution to whichever group of cronies needs their palms greased! * * * “On Monday, there was nothing dramatic when the levee failed, no sound of an explosion or a crash.” From an article in the NY Times, and then in a post on dailykos under “Christ I feel sick” there was:“They lived near the 17th St. Canal, and their whole neighborhood heard two explosions that they swear was dynamite on Monday night. Perhaps it was the sound of levees collapsing, but the people there are convinced that the levee was blown.” Incompetence or intention, we’ll never know without an honest investigation. * * * “The station aired footage of Bush laboring to ascend steps up to Air Force One, aided by his wife, Laura. A newscaster commented on the President's wavering gait and noted that it was unusual for him not to pause to shake hands with well-wishers at the airport. The broadcast led to local speculation that the President may have encountered a medical problem.” Kinda sorta begs the question is he ailing from that old disease from way back when he was sowing his wild oats? Could it be that there has been an exacerbation of that dreaded “alcoholism”??? Hmm, I wonder. * * * |
