In the past I have been highly critical of CNN and its reporters, but today I want to give some praise where praise is due. On American Morning yesterday, Miles O'Brien questioned Haley Barbour regarding the Federal Governments response to Hurricane Katrina. Barbour was immediately incensed and responded with an accusation of unfairness. Mr. O'Brien calmly continued to make his point in a fair and just manner. For this, I thank Miles O'Brien! Then, last night Anderson Cooper, in an interview on Larry King Live, gave a moving and quite accurate synopsis of what is really happening in New Orleans and up and down the Gulf Coast. Again, thanks go out to those whose job it is to report the news and who do not attempt "to make the news" on CNN!

As I listened to Haley Barbour mimicking George Bush’s "we're making progress," and I wondered what's a Repuglican to do if the phrase, "we're making progress" was banned from use? "Progress" is a word designed to give a positive connotation. Yet, I am reminded of something my grandmother used to say: "the hurrieder I go, the behinder I get." That, folks, sums up George Bush and the rest of the Repuglican party in a nutshell!

While Hurricane Katrina may have been a "natural" disaster, the aftermath is a "Bush" disaster! By cutting the Federal funds necessary to shore up the levees surrounding New Orleans, the aftermath belongs to Bush! If one goes back just a few days ago (seems more like eons), right after the storm, the reports were "Katrina’s damage not as extensive as feared in New Orleans." Then the levees were breached and all hell broke loose! The city was flooded, more lives were lost, and tens of thousands of people are now homeless! Because of Bush's inaction, there is now a swath of destruction as has never before been endured in these United States. Sadly this latest horror is another disaster directly related to his incompetence!

Americans would do well to heed the warnings about where you send your donations for the victims of "Katrina." Be sure your donations are going to help the victims of the hurricane! It seems pretty weird to me that the very man, Pat Robertson, who said, "God allowed September 11 to happen" and "what we need is for somebody to place a small nuke at Foggy Bottom," would be at the top of FEMA'S list of suggested charitable organizations, hiding under the name of "Operation Blessing"!

"...when he and other hungry refugees broke into the kitchen of the convention centre and tried to prepare food, the National Guard chased them away. 'They pulled guns and told us we had to leave that kitchen or they would blow our damn brains out.'" And some wonder why there's lawlessness in New Orleans!
