Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. August 31, 2005 The horror of the aftermath of Katrina on the Gulf Coast is beginning to look and sound like the horror of the aftermath of the invasion in Iraq. Again, the Bush administration is not prepared! Thanks to George Bush, the National Guard, whose presence has been paramount in prevention during previous national disasters, is in Iraq, fighting foreign terrorists and not available for aide and assistance to America's victims of Katrina! It's no wonder he's cutting his vacation short; no wonder he's making promises after the fact. Again, unprepared; again, death and destruction of a magnitude that could have been prevented; again, a moron playing "catch-up" with rhetoric designed to divert attention from his utter incompetence. The senseless loss of life and limb is unfathomable. It's time for America to demand a whole new slate of leadership, one that can do the job required, not an empty suit who thinks speeches and bicycle rides are the only requirements needed for the job of the president! * * * I am utterly disgusted with all those right wing quacks who attempt to justify George Bush's offensive actions by blaming the victims! No where did I see a sign that read "Those Who Volunteer To Die sign up here"! To imply that the deaths of American soldiers is okay because they "volunteered" is ludicrous and it certainly does not absolve George Bush's "fixing the facts" to go to war preemptively. There is no absolution for offensive action taken by incompetent men just because they "thought" they should do so or, even worse, because they believe they can do whatever they want! * * * The dire effects of Katrina will not be limited to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The entire nation will be affected by the gross negligence of the Repuglican dominated Federal Government in preparing for domestic disaster. The Repuglicans have been flirting with disaster for years -- they have denied global warming, denied funding for those agencies that are designed to prevent the scope of this disaster, and denied domestic preparedness in order to expand military capability for foreign preemptive invasion. We, the citizens of the United States of America, are left without the protection of our government when it's needed the most. As usual, the Repuglicans are only capable of "window dressing," of "talking the talk," when, in fact, their actions reflect the opposite of their rhetoric. * * * Uhhh, Franklin Delano Roosevelt he's not! No matter how he tries to paint the picture, George Bush will never be an FDR! George Bush preemptively invaded a nation based on "fixed facts," making him responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people who had nothing to do with September 11, 2001! He is responsible for the deaths of the 1864+ and still counting American soldiers. His impudent attempt at comparison is as ridiculous as he is stupid! |
