Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. August 12 , 2005 * * * Frankly, to all the mothers in America, if you don't want your children caught up in a nuclear war, giving their lives for the insanity of an administration run amuck, then we all better start paying attention to Cindy Sheehan and her message!!! * * * Donald Rumsfeld's latest undertaking really is a slap in the face for the families of the victims of 9-11, and America as a whole! To plan a PARTY to commemorate 9-11 shows the whole world just how insane the upper echelon in today's government really has been since day one! The callousness of partying on the anniversary of the greatest tragedy ever happening within the borders of the United States is without a doubt the dumbest thing I've ever heard. But then this is the Bush administration, and what, other than callous, lack of empathy, remorse, shame, or guilt, shallow emotional, inconsiderate, impulsive need for stimulation, could one expect??? * * * Was firing the general a preemptive measure taken by the Bush administration? After the mess they made of "Plame Game" and all that negative publicity, did the Bushies decide to preemptively nip this truth in the bud before it actually becomes an op-ed piece in the NYT? Is nuclear war really in our future? Do we have a bunch of lunatics running the country? Are they really ready to blast us all into oblivion? If the Bush administration continues to follow the patterns already set in bombs and bullets, the answers are YES, YES, and YES!!! * * * If you take a long look at history, Democratic Presidents have had to clean up the messes that Repuglican presidents have made of America and then the radical right-wing elements who have become overwhelmingly involved in politics try their best to blame it all on the Democrat!! Sooner or later, though, truth will out, and this time it's going to take a mighty strong Democrat to fix the wrongs of George Bush. * * * All this flack over the latest Rolling Stones album boils down to, "If the shoe fits George, wear it." Try as they may, Mick Jagger's been around a long time, and it's my belief Jagger will continue to draw crowds, long after George Bush and the "Sweet Neo-Con" jokers over at FOX NEWS are GONE! The only difference I have with Jagger, I believe, ALL NEO-CONS ARE FULL OF S**T! * * * In visiting a friend who lived in a Christian community made up of "born agains" in Southern California some years ago, I was interested in exactly what it all meant and what did they stand for in the grand scheme of things. I asked several people in this rather tight but very affluent community, exactly what did "born again" mean to them? The answer I got, which was overwhelmingly repeated by all who gladly participated in this conversation and in answering the question I posed, was "The day I became born again, my sins past, present, and future, were forgiven." Needless to say, I was flabbergasted, because this was not what I learned in religious classes. In pursuing it further, I said could you pass that by me again---again "forgiven my sins past, present, and future." I naively plunged in further with, "do you mean to tell me that because you were born again 2 years ago, if you committed murder 5 years from now, you've already been forgiven?" The answer---"if that happens, then that is what God put me here to do, and yes, I am already forgiven." Now this may have been one isolated group with some rather twisted interpretations, but given what I see occurring in Bush's America, I'm truly wondering if this perverted view of Christianity has overtaken a large portion of the radical right populace involved in today's world? And it scares the hell out of me!!! * * * After Wolf Blitzer repeatedly tried to get Bill Clinton to say "the war in Iraq was a mistake," Clinton told Blitzer, "You're trying to get me to make news, and I'm trying to educate people." Then in an attempt at one-upsmanship on Bill Clinton, Blitzer came back with, "That's my job. I'm a newsman. That's what I try to do, is make news. And you try to avoid news. That's your job." Before you start back clapping Mr. Blitzer, I have always been of the opinion, it's a newsman's job to REPORT THE NEWS, NOT MAKE THE NEWS, and if Wolf Blitzer and CNN are now in the business of "MAKING NEWS" it's time for someone to get fired! * * * |
