Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. November 19, 2004 "Hout made this appeal: 'For the sake of all future elections involving electronic voting, someone needs to explain the statistical anomalies that we found in Florida. We're calling on officials in Florida to take up this task and to take action now.'" All I can say is, as long as Jeb Bush is governor in Florida, don't count on Florida taking up the task or taking action willingly. If you really want to know what went awry in Florida, all you have to do is take a long look at lil bro Jeb. That will tell you what's going on down south in the land of sunshine and crooked politicians. These guys will stop at nothing to promote their agenda, and it's all about the Bush dynasty. * * * Does anyone else feel as though we're living in a real live Matrix,
and its color is red? A world in which they (the Repugs) all look
and sound alike, strong arming anyone and everyone who gets in the way?
Using machines to program our lives, and making a whole lot of people
believe they're living the good life, when in fact they've stolen our
souls and our identity. Oh, Oracle, where is Neo when
we really need him???
* * * Somewhere I read George Bush is related to Queen Elizabeth---so I must assume he believes in royalty ruling, or maybe it's just plain old familial envy, either way we can all see he would prefer to be a king and do what the founding fathers came to this country to overcome, SUPREMELY RULE THIS NATION. It's time to send him packing and resume the democratic foundation the founding fathers envisioned. * * * Again President Bill Clinton showed the world what a magnanimous leader he is---even in the rain! Surrounded by presidents past and poachers present, beloved Clinton opened his Library. Neither Barbara Bush's glum expression nor the rain could keep them away---rock stars, celebrities, politicians, and everyday people attended the event, and once again patriotic Americans knew what it really means to be proud! * * * November 18, 2004 I was born in Volusia County Florida---my father once ran for City Commissioner in a small town within the county. He did so because a large number of neighbors signed a petition requesting his representation. He did not campaign, as he was busy on his job which kept him out of town a lot. He lost the election, but at the post- election party, he was told had the "machine" not promised the commissioner's slot to the other guy, and had they known he was interested, he could have had the job! So I know first hand how it works way down there in Volusia County. My dad was subsequently appointed to the City Planning Board and served admirably for 2 years...one of the few honest politicians ever in that small town. * * * When Repuglicans change the rules to protect Congressional Representatives who are being investigated for committing crimes, it doesn't say a whole lot for moral values. The same guys who feign piety and claim ownership of moral principals are whitewashing the deeds of one of their own, while trashing the reputation of the lawman who brought the charges. Face it, this Repuglican-dominated Congress has been taken over by money grubbing exterminators and their buddies who don't give a damn about morals. * * * And Bush said he wasn't going to institute a draft! Recalling
former G.I.'s, older men who "haven't
trained, held a gun, worn a uniform, or even gone for a jog in
years," to fill in the gaps, is a DRAFT. When the Bush
administration runs out of these old grunts to recall, our sons
and daughters are not far behind!
* * * Condi Rice, the woman behind the president who will keep him safe from prying eyes and investigations, no matter what! She's proven to be a formidable adversary when and if the American people want the truth, so why not put her in a position to protect George from the rest of the world as well? So much for democracy when a dictator wannabee has the protection of a woman with determination. * * * Our soldiers and innocent Iraqis are dying in Iraq, so what does mainstream media serve up for news 24/7---a risqué commercial on TV! There's something twisted in the psyches of those who judge what is important to America when bull-shit trumps reality. What was the real reason Michael Powell and the radical right found this particular ad to be so offensive???? * * * Too bad Colin isn't taking his son with him into obscurity! Censorship has returned, and its name is Michael Powell. It leaves one wondering what's next? They're already censoring the daily news brought to you by mainstream media. Maybe book burning will be up for grabs. * * * Hang on to your sons and daughters who are draft age and run for the
hills, the stage is being set for an expansion of Bush's war on terra-firma
and it
looks like Iran is the next little piece of sand he intends to pre-empt!
And you thought we were safer, silly you!
* * * November 17, 2004 The new rules at the CIA are reminiscent of "how the Nazis came to power" pre-WWII. Everyone is required to march lock step with the Fuehrer and nothing less is acceptable for the newest Lieutenant in Bush's SS, Porter Goss! And if this analogy is unacceptable, ask any German who lived through Nazi occupation how it all began! * * * Poppy and Barb obviously don't have any more influence with their boy George today than they did during that period better known as "sowing his drunken wild oats." This non-influence is evidenced by his march on Iraq when all Poppy's men were out and about negating the reasons to go to war, and currently the obvious disapproval of Condi for Secretary of State by some in Bush#1's administration. Do Poppy and Barb know something the rest of us don't? Could it be, the adoring Condi who uttered that Freudian slip about her "husb---", "excuse me, as I was telling president Bush..." at a dinner party in New York, has something to do with it all? Just wondering???? * * * For one who claims loyalty is the most important "virtue," Bush certainly doesn't practice what he preaches. Once he's used and abused someone, he has no qualms about tossing them in the garbage with veiled praise. So with a peck on the cheek, Bush welcomed his new choice for Secretary of State in order to proceed unencumbered in his march on the world. Sorry, Colin, you've lost your usefulness, your integrity, and your dignity--you've become a thorn in the side of a wannabee dictator. George has crowned Condi keeper of state secrets in this Little White House of Horrors. * * * Laughably funny, when crime and punishment loses its importance depending on who's committing the crime! Now that Tom DeLay's the one perpetrating alleged lies and the meaning of "is," suddenly it's not all that important to the Repuglican side of the aisle. Seems truth, justice, and the American way takes a back seat when it's a Repuglican lying, cheating, intimidating, and manipulating! * * * As I listened yesterday to those Christian Conservatives calling for their "pound of flesh" because they believe they alone put George Bush and a majority of the Congress into office, I can't help but recall, it was this same "pound of flesh" that prompted targeting doctors and their families who performed abortions. It should give one pause to remember, when they put their finger on the vote button. Nothing matches the fervor of a religious battle to get the fighting juices flowing, and there is nothing more dangerous than this fight for God! * * * I REPEAT: "LIBERAL means generous---Conservative means stingy" and I cannot say it enough! If and when Americans begin to realize it, then and only then can America redeem its moral values! * * * The difference between the '60's and now---"Where have all the patriots gone?" Why they've been outsourced of course! * * * November 16, 2004 "JONATHAN TURLEY: "I was surprised on the morning after the election. I was legal analyst with CBS News for the election and we did not go off the air until 6 a.m. At that time, due to the reports and my conversation with Kerry attorneys, I expected a challenge. Kerry's statement the day after the election that there were not enough provisional ballots to have any chance to alter the result of the election may have been true, but it was a bit misleading since provisional ballots are only part of the story. There were also absentee ballots, there were reports of substantial pockets of election problems, and allegations of over-voting and machine malfunction. In addition, over 70 percent of Ohio's votes were done with punch cards. We know that when you do a challenge to those, they tend to turn over. So there is room to challenge Ohio and other states. This is not to say that a recount is likely to change the result of the election, but it is not an impossibility." If John Kerry and the Democrats thought this was a strategic move, I'm here to tell them, NOT a smart move! We the electorate deserve the same energy we gave, we deserve better representation than a meek concession, Democracy demands better than it's gotten, and there must be a challenge to the obvious problems surrounding the vote in Ohio, and Florida! Let the chips then fall where they may! * * * You just have to know he is doing a lousy job when PNAC chooses to criticize their boy Bush. Was this critique a slap on the wrist to bring him into line, or has he already gone too far to be reined in and it's all to no avail?? * * * It's a labor born of love but not necessarily for one's country!
Condi
Rice to replace Colin Powell in body, but certainly not in stature!
Bush and Rove finally have all their YES men in place, and America
stands to be the loser.
* * * Statistically speaking, just how do the weapons caches confiscated in Falluja stack up to the 380 TONS of highly explosive materials stolen from Al QaQaa? How many more battles must be waged in order to secure the weaponry the Bush administration, due to ignorance, allowed to get away? Why did they ignore the advice of Army Chief of Staff, General Eric Shinseki, to have more troops on the ground to secure the peace? My God, people, wake up. George Bush is positioning himself to march on the rest of the world. And believe me we are not the safer because of it! * * * Moral values?? My royal behind! You can't convince me that this bunch who support pre-emptive wars and killing innocent people, are morally concerned! It's another smoke screen, mumbo jumbo, psy-ops bunch of bull, brought to you via mainstream media in order to justify their collusion with this same bunch of morally bankrupt people who call themselves the Bush administration. * * * November 15, 2004 "Collateral damage" is not exactly the freedom one would choose, but obviously its the George Bush method for a democratic Iraq. Wondering, though, when the bullets and the bombs stop, just who and how many will actually be left to vote in the January elections??? * * * Shades of Tuskegee, your government is at it again, only
this time they
are using poor children to conduct the experimentation. Moral values
my ass, this administration is composed of the most corrupt, unscrupulous,
contemptible bunch to ever come down the political pike. Children,
babies, and their parents get a so called "free" camcorder,
a Tee-shirt, and a Certificate of Appreciation for their participation,
my God what have we become, when our government is conducting poisonous
experiments on poor children? Did they tell these families this would
be called, "Free the environment of the poor from poisonous substances"?
Did they put some high fallutin name on an otherwise dirty deal, in
order to fool them into thinking they are doing something admirable?
This is one of the most unbelievable murderous ideas concocted by the
insane Bush administration to date! * * * If Alberto Gonzales believed it was O.K. to ignore the Geneva Conventions and torture "enemy combatants," just what the hell do you think he will say about an American's right to due process? Just where do they get off trying to us that Gonzales should be approved in Congress because "he's better than John Ashcroft"? Has voting for the lesser of two evils become the litmus test for Bush appointees? For God's sake we are living in the twilight zone pre WWII and half the country isn't even aware! The Congress should unite in a bipartisan effort to defeat this latest Bush appointee! * * * This from an interview Paula Zahn had with Bob Kerrey: "KERREY: Well, the 9/11 report says in chapter eight -- now that it's beyond the campaign, so the promise I had to keep this out of the campaign is over. The 9/11 report in chapter eight says that, in the summer of 2001, the government ignored repeated warnings by the CIA, ignored, and didn't do anything to harden our border security, didn't do anything to harden airport country, didn't do anything to engage local law enforcement, didn't do anything to round up INS and consular offices and say we have to shut this down, and didn't warn the American people. The famous presidential daily briefing on August 6, we say in the report that the briefing officers believed that there was a considerable sense of urgency and it was current. So there was a case to be made that wasn't made." Seemingly, the Democrats on the 9-11 Commission weren't any more interested in the truth than the Repugs. Had they been, promises wouldn't have been made and Americans would have been told the truth before the election--that the Bushies were looking for a motive to bring "a carpet of bombs" to Afghanistan and pre-emptive war to Iraq. Boy did they find it by doing nothing and allowing bin Laden to attack on 9-11! (Thanks to a letter in the BuzzFlash Mailbag for bringing this info to light!) * * * Only a self-absorbed sociopathic ego maniac would plan an elaborate inauguration during a time when the sons and daughters of America are dying on foreign soil in a pre-emptive war which was waged based on his lies. Only insanity could provoke a fiesta like atmosphere to justify a questionable election. * * * Americans can never again expect free and fair elections, unless and until there is a way to verify that the vote cast is the vote counted. Technology has taken over in America, favoring the Repuglican party, just like the casino slot machines thriving in the desert with their pre-programmed payoffs. As an electorate we must demand accountability and take responsibility for our future, we must demand the right to vote, the right to have that vote counted, and the right to expect that the candidate who actually received the most votes will win. * * * Porter Goss is not just reforming the CIA, he's destroying it in the most partisan manner he can conjure up. It's safe to assume they will leave nothing in place that could hold George Bush accountable for his actions and if you as an American citizen expected protection, forget it, the only protection here is self preservation for a bunch of organized criminals otherwise known as the Bush administration. * * * Every time I hear a pious Repuglican blowhard spewing his version of religiosity I am reminded that priests, bishops, archbishops, cardinals and the pope thought they were doing God's work during the Inquisition. Radical fundamentalism in any form is deleterious to one's well being, which is certainly why the wise founding fathers of America were careful to separate church and state. * * * Repuglicans are devouring their own these days. To Senator Specter I say, how many humiliations must you endure, how much humble pie do you have to eat before you say SHOVE IT? Let no man strip you of your dignity, especially those buffoons who have no integrity, but who feign statesmanship. They are reducing you to their level, and you are looking the fool! * * * |
