Daily BuzzFlash Minute
A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. August 20, 2004 Bullies always find a skirt or a pant leg to hide behind, and George Bush is no exception! This time it's the pant legs of the not-so-swiftboatvets! Sooner or later though he's gonna get caught -- bullies always do, it's the American way! Let's hope it won't be too late for our nation! * * * Every generation has a Benedict Arnold and Zell Miller fits the description. The truth is, he's really just another Repuglican hack, in a sea of hacks, vying for a microphone to deliver his sleazy rhetoric. The only distinction is his "claim" to be a Democrat. But, Zell left the party long ago in order to promote a personal agenda and stroke his own ego. In essence, he's a nobody with a feigned southern accent trying to be noticed. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" where he speaks, what he has to say, and when he says it. * * * Doctors are supposed to be different. Their first obligation is supposed to always be the patient, but, as we've seen, that is not always the case with the Docs in the U.S. Military. Apparently, they are willing to cover up for those who lie and commit acts of abuse! Just ask Dr. Louis Letson, the Doc who claims he treated John Kerry in Vietnam, but didn't sign the chart and ask the Docs who signed the "death by natural causes" certificates at Abu Ghraib! * * * August 19, 2004 I'm beginning to wonder if the not-so-Swiftvets have a guilty conscience? Their anger with John Kerry seems to be more with his anti-war activism. Even though their ad already lacks truth, the not-so-Swiftvets don't even specify the so-called "lies" they say John Kerry told the Senate. They seem to be angry because they had difficulty "getting on with their lives." Is John Kerry responsible for that? What could possibly have been so traumatic for them? Could their actions in Vietnam be more than they care to admit? I've heard war brings out the worst, as well as the best in men, and that is why we must find a better way! * * * I wonder if anyone ever witnessed Bush flying a plane? I wonder how may Guardsmen saw him take off and land? How many flights did he really make along the Texas coast? Did he ever learn to do more than dress up in flight gear? Just wondering! * * * My God, I didn't think it possible, but here we have a Repuglican who can admit mistakes, who is willing to tell the truth, and who isn't afraid to say the Bush administration was WRONG. My hat's off to you and a big Thank you, Rep. Doug Bereuter. * * * It is my opinion that mainstream media continues to report a tight race in the upcoming presidential election because they don't want the "masses" to question a win for Dumbya. It would be just like the 2000 election when no one questioned FOX News for declaring Bush the winner in too-close-to-call Florida. We now know that Gore won, but the Supreme Court had installed their boy Bush and the mainstream media failed to question their decision. * * * August 18, 2004 George Bush is the one who decided to draw attention to military records! When he dressed up in a flight suit to land on that aircraft carrier (20 miles off the coast of California), I suppose he believed his lemmings had done a better job of erasing the embarrassing parts of his National Guard records or that he could hide them. Getting to the "Mission Accomplished" press conference was a trip he could have easily made in a suit on the presidential helicopter, but, NO, he chose to arrive as a conquering hero and, subsequently, made a fool of himself. That's what happens when you have neither the vision nor the brains to see the possibilities of your actions or understand the complexities of governing! * * * One thing we can count on from the Repuglican Convention -- whatever they have to say, you can be sure they will be doing the opposite. They have become the party of "smoke and mirrors." This administration believes that the higher and deeper the pile of manure they dish to the public, the more likely the public will believe! The only bounce Dumbya should get from this convention is the one that will bounce him out of office! * * * Now they're blaming Hurricane Charley for the poor economic picture. God, does this administration accept responsibility for anything? First, everything was Clinton's fault, then it was the terrorists, then France, Germany, Russia, poor intelligence, the FBI, CIA, Chalabi, Saddam, looters, a few aberrant soldiers, Sadar's insurgents, and on and on. Now it's John Kerry, John Edwards, the Gay Community, a woman's right to choose, Democrats (in general), a mythical liberal mainstream media, protestors, and anyone who doesn't agree with this administration's flawed policies. Sooner or later the Sleeping Giant is going to awaken, and I pray it won't be too late to rid the Oval Office of an interloping, moronic, thief. We really need to elect a President who can do the job! * * * August 17, 2004 If George Bush is the best example of what an expensive private school education can do for America's youth, then puleeze, let's do all we can to support public education! Someone needs to tell Poppy and Barb they wasted their money. We know now that Laura certainly didn't marry him for his intellect and/or the stimulating conversation! It really is thigh-slapping humorous every time the Repugs tout Laura as having been a Librarian in her other life, because her former career has obviously not had any influence on her present circumstance. * * * If you truly are a patriotic American and believe in Democracy, then you will stand up to Bush and his administration. When a pre-emptive war was waged based on lies and innuendo, and resulted in the deaths of more than 900 American soldiers and countless of innocent Iraqi citizens, you have to know that this is not the America founded on truth and justice. Exposing this administration for the farce that it is, is the most patriotic thing we can do! It is time to regain our dignity, our integrity, our democracy, and our decency. It is time to send the frauds packing. It is time for a change and to vote for Kerry/Edwards! * * * Given the "evidence" Goss needs for an investigation, someone will have to wrap bin Laden in bright paper, tie him up with a red ribbon, and then send him to the United States via Air Mail with a tag that says, "TERRORIST, ATT. PORTER GOSS." With morons, err I mean, agents like this in charge, no wonder there are problems at the CIA. * * * Exactly how long would moms and dads across America allow their child to continue adverse unacceptable behavior that was detrimental to himself and others? How long would they encourage their child to continue such behavior, especially if they knew said child was out of control and blatantly lying to them? Not long, you say? Tough love, time out, no privileges, boot camp maybe? It's about time America does what Poppy and Barb never did: Tell George, "Enough already, we will no longer tolerate your unacceptable behavior." * * * August 16, 2004 Bush's flight to Nebraska on 9-11 is enough for me to know he's not the bold brave leader he claims! His march into Iraq, no matter the outcome, tells me he can't think beyond his own selfish desire. What some believe to be determination and strong conviction, I can only describe as being mule-headed stubbornness, a trait often seen in spoiled rich kids raised by indulgent parents! He wasn't qualified or experienced when the Supreme Court installed him in office, and 3 1/2 years later he's still not qualified. His lack of concern regarding the death and destruction caused by his war is certainly the best reason to send him back to Texas in November. * * * Now, I can understand one Repuglican supporting the other, but nothing could justify John McCain embracing George Bush for the whole world to see! It was a nauseatingly, disgusting sight! Every bit of respect I've ever had for McCain flew out the window after that hypocritical display of farce. One's self respect should be more valuable than party affiliation! * * * If Jeb Bush had put as much effort into Hurricane education and preparation as he's put into scaring the bejezzus out of black voters in Florida, then maybe Charley would not have been as devastating to Floridians as it's been! It's odd that officers from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, that reports to Gov. Jeb Bush, are going mainly into the homes of elderly black voters to investigate voter fraud in the State of Florida. Will scaring elderly black folk and voter supression be Jeb's latest method to guarantee the state for George? * * * |
