| Barbara's
Daily BuzzFlash Minute
A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. June 4, 2004 After George Bush waged an unnecessary preemptive war, responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent men, women, and children, a war in which "detainees" were subjected to the horrors of torture and abuse, such as we've seen from Abu Ghraib, it takes nothing less than a complete lack of common sense and sheer audacity that he gives The Presidential Medal of Freedom to the Pope. If one were to give George Bush credit for a single thing, it would be the senseless deeds he practices in an attempt to save his ass. * * * I wonder how the administration plans to pin on George Tenet the abuse and torture of prisoners at Abu Ghraib? Why do they believe that Tenet's resignation is an answer to all their problems? The intelligence community may have played a big part in Bush's error, but certainly not all of it! The ultimate solution to the problems plaguing the United States is to either impeach George Bush and his entire administration, including the members of the Supreme Court who appointed Bush over the will of the people, or to vote them out in November. Since touch screen voting is questionable for obtaining a legitimate election, I am of the opinion that impeachment is the only answer. * * * "Bush, who barred Chirac from his ranch in Texas last year, even indicated he was now ready to host the French leader. 'If he wants to come and see some cows, he is welcome. He can come and see some cows,' he said." Diplomacy is not one of George Bush's fortes. * * * June 3, 2004 If John McCain is as wise as many give him credit for being, then he would do well to remember that Bush has managed to bring down to his level the best of the Repuglican party. If ruining his own stellar reputation is something McCain really wants, then he could do no worse than running on the ticket with George Bush. My advice to Senator McCain would be to ride high in your current position, do not abandon your ethics or your values by teaming up with anyone less than yourself, and don't play second fiddle to the mad maestro. * * * To those wondering about George's senseless commentary -- it is my opinion, that when he looks down, appearing to have lost his train of thought, erring and ahhing, then very quickly garbles an answer, he has a bug in his ear and someone else is telling him what to say. He hasn't lost his train of thought, because he doesn't have a brain to have a thought. He's just repeating what he's been told to say, and to say it very quickly before he forgets. He's being cued on everything. Think back to that last press conference -- you know the one, where he said something like, "I don't know what to say, I wish I could think of something, I'm waiting here for something to pop into my head but nothing has." He looks down because he's listening, he "errs" and "ahhs" to let whomever is on the other end know he doesn't know what to say, and he needs the time for them to tell him the answer. Just watch his next "live" performance, then you'll see what I mean! * * * Whenever I hear Poppy Bush touting his sons virtues and how sad he is (replete with crocodile tears) over the treatment Georgie is suffering when the press prints the truth, I can't help but think, "It's too bad Poppy and Barb never heard of 'tough love.'" It might have helped us all had they practiced some of it. * * * From retired Grandpas and Grandmas in Tampa Fl., arrested at a rally in Florida, to Howard Stern and Larry Flynt, these are the people who have the courage to stand up and fight for the basic rights of all of America. Democracy can bring together some strange bedfellows, but we, the American people, must honor the efforts of those who believe in freedom enough to fight for it, be it on foreign soil or right here at home in the good ole US of A. My hat's off to them, my hands come together in wild applause, and my gratitude is all encompassing! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your courage in these times of war on all fronts. * * * June 2, 2004 What is it about conservatives that they'd rather have torture and murder continue than to admit the truth? It's the opposite of true Christian values, the opposite of what they profess to believe! Maybe they think "if I bury my head in the sand, pretend it's not happening, and refuse to view the facts, then I can continue living in this fantasy world I've created?" Is that really better than stopping these atrocities? Are we witnessing modern day Peters? Is denial really better than the truth? Exactly who benefits in the end, when one denies the existence of torture and abuse and allows it to continue? * * * Flipper the flip-flopping dolphin at rallies and "Reggie the Registration Rig." I can't help but wonder what immature, juvenile GOP bunch came up with that? Apparently they are unaware that today's young people are more sophisticated than this kind of pre-teen terminology. If this is a reflection of the mind set of the leadership in the GOP, then we are in a whole lot more trouble than we thought. For God's sake people, they are not playing around with a Game Boy, it's a real war, and real people are dying. * * * It saddens me to say, Judith Miller is not the only mainstream media reporter with blood on her hands! She's not the only one who supported George Bush's efforts to wage war in Iraq -- a sea of faces, all up front and personal, come to mind, including Brit Hume, Tony Snow, Sean Hannity, Dennis Miller, Paula Zahn, Wolf Blitzer, and journalists everywhere in this so-called liberal media. They've all had a hand in aiding and abetting George Bush. Ironic, isn't it, how they allowed the Bush administration to feed them a line of bull, then the Bushies used them to substantiate the bogus claims. Mainstream media has failed the public it was supposed to serve. * * * June 1, 2004 It just hit me like a ton of bricks. Did the Bush administration have that so-called chemical sarin weapon of mass destruction shell sent to the United States so that no one else could possibly test it and reveal it's point of origin? Have they again covered their tracks? Given the reports of possible smuggling of WMD's in the dead of night, it wouldn't surprise me if they don't want anyone to know where the shell came from, so they shipped it back under the guise of further investigation to cover up any real facts. * * * As
with all things Bush, say one thing, do another, and cover your ass!
If you think Iraq is to have sovereignty, then
think again. The plan
is to appoint only those who will cow-tow to Bush policy, pretend like
they are in control, and all the while allow the Bush Cartel to walk
away
with Iraqi's resources (as well as the American treasury). This administration
and its cohorts have no intention of giving up such a lucrative opportunity
as the riches in Iraq. |
