Daily BuzzFlash Minute
A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. May 28, 2004 It's an interesting dance we, the American people, are being subjected to these days! As Bush's miserable failures in the Iraq war come to the surface, each separate faction in this whole cabal is jockeying for position. The intricacies of denial are carefully constructed so as not to thwart the original goal, and to cast doubt on who constructed the whole debacle. Sooner or later, we will come to realize they're all guilty, and no matter their motives, they have created a disaster that will be suffered for years to come. * * * "Poll Shows Voters Prefer Bush at Barbecue." NOT IN MY BACKYARD! Frankly, I don't want the man responsible for the deaths of 800 American soldiers, and countless innocent Iraqi men, women, and children, anywhere near my house. I don't want to break bread or flip burgers with a man who mocked a convicted woman just before she was executed. I don't want to rub shoulders with a man who ran some political campaign for a GOP loser when he should have been serving his country in the National Guard. I don't want to share drinks and jokes with a man who professes faith, while seeking torture and abuse for the vulnerable. No, folks, this is not a "regular guy," he's nothing more than an image produced by some of the most diabolical political minds in the history of this country! * * * It's a divide and conquer the public scheme. Confuse the issue and create a public incident that will take the attention off the prize! Yes, my friends, this administration knows full well how to create chaos, so don't tell me that yesterday's announcements weren't planned exactly the way they occurred. Befuddling the masses has become a way of life for Bush and the gang! * * * THIS IS MY COUNTRY! I don't like what Bush is doing; his compassionless conservatism; his eternal war; abuse and torture; robbing the poor to give to the rich; his illiterate incompetence; the death and destruction done in my name; blurring the line between church and state; an administration made up of murderers, liars, cheats, and thieves; and most of all, I don't like Bush. It's time for him to leave the office he stole! * * * May 27, 2004 We Americans find ourselves in a real life version of "Survivor"! And I'd say it's time to kick out the guy responsible for the chaos and confusion, the death and destruction! Unfortunately, this is not a scripted and produced fantasy with a happy ending. This is real life and real people have died, real reputations have been compromised, and we, the American people, are in real danger if we continue to "stay the course" of this maniacal lunatic. We may not have the opportunity to tune in next week. * * * The Bush administration has moved into the realm of "actionable deniability": things are "great" in Iraq; not a single solitary soul knew that prisoners were being tortured in Abu Ghraib; all this negative press will go away if it's just ignored; and the whole mess can be wiped off the slate with another warning about terrorist attacks, only this time, the color alert will not be elevated! Yep, the Bushies must be thinking, "if we just pretend we didn't know anything about anything and scare the bejeezus out of them, then it will all just go away!" * * * Anyone with a single intelligent brain cell in their head would know there is no choice between Kerry and Bush. Of course, there are those in America whose intelligence quotient is equal to or, God forbid, even lower than that of Bush, so a certain percentage of people will vote for him again. But, that's democracy at it's worst! Thank God it's a minority. Now, if the dunderheads on the Supreme Court can keep their opinions out of our Democracy, maybe this country can begin to return to patriotic sanity and become again the once great nation we have been so proud of! * * * May 26, 2004 Excuse me, but didn't God grant to human beings the right of "free will"? Aren't politicians and their supporters only following the edicts of God by supporting a "woman's right to chose"? Now, if I had to make an observation, I would think Catholic Bishops would better serve their "flock" by recommending that whomever supports and votes for George Bush should be denied communion. As the Pope said, "When war, like the one now in Iraq, threatens the fate of humanity, it is even more urgent for us to proclaim, with a firm and decisive voice, that only peace is the way of building a more just and caring society." * * * I can't help but wonder, if there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction, and obviously no "imminent threat," exactly what can prisoners at Abu Ghraib be legally charged with having done? The United States invaded their country. If they were fighting us, wouldn't that, in a court of law, be considered defending their country? * * * We can only hope that the mainstream media has finally awakened to George Bush's shortfalls. Until just a short time ago, all Bush had to do was pontificate on a subject and the press fell all over themselves proclaiming the second coming! Now, the fact that his mistakes have become so egregious that they cannot be overlooked, the media is beginning to report the truth. It's just too bad they weren't as cognizant before all the death and destruction of innocent people. It's unfortunate they remained silent when the first wisps of truth appeared about his lack of concern for the terrorist warnings before 9-11. Thank God for the families of the victims of 9-11. They would not let it rest. Thank God they insisted on the truth. No matter what the Commission finds, at least the rest of us now know for sure that George Bush was derelict in his duty to protect the citizens of these United States! We are aware of his incompetence and that he should no longer continue down his chosen path of destruction. * * * May 25, 2004 Somewhere, I remember hearing the words, "WMD's," "mushroom clouds," "yellow cake from Niger," "nuclear threat," "Al Qaeda connection," and "an imminent threat," not "....I sent American troops to Iraq to make its people free....," which is an excerpt from Bush's speech! Odd, isn't it, how motives change after the fact? * * * Oh, if only rhetoric and wire canoes could save us! Speeches, speeches and more speeches are not going to shore up the mistake that George made when he unnecessarily waged war on Iraq! Constantly changing motives for aggression does not justify the resulting death and destruction. Pitiful incompetence will do nothing to rally the public's favor when that incompetence is responsible for the quagmire called Iraq! * * * Frankly, I find it disgusting, that we are subjected to the moron wrapped in the American Flag, day in and day out, while we are forbidden from seeing the coffins draped in the American Flag returning home with our family members! It is ironic that mainstream media finds the respect of an honor guard demeaning, yet they believe it patriotic to glorify the man who sent them to their deaths in an unnecessary war! Somewhere, somehow, since the Repuglicans have wrested power, the ideals, the morals and the values that were once representative of America have been lost! * * * May 24, 2004 Facial abrasions, body bruises, and wacky explanations are warning flags of possible alcohol abuse in emergency rooms all across America! Hmmm, I wonder? * * * When seeking a place to lay blame, Iraq becomes very complicated! The neocons incompetently believed conquering Iraq would stabilize the Middle-East and protect Israel. Others in this administration wanted to control the oil fields, enrich their bank accounts and provide all the energy needs back here at home. There were also those who wanted a theater to show the world the overwhelming military power of the United States. Lastly, there was one in particular who saw the an opportunity to try to prove himself a better man than his father. When considered separately, we can see the foolishness, but together they became the impetus for the biggest mess ever faced by the people of these United States! * * * Mr. Rumsfeld, denial is not an option. The photographs are proof that Americans were involved in prisoner abuse and torture at Abu Ghraib and it could not have happened without approval from the highest offices of this land. For the first time in my life, I am ashamed -- no matter how far removed -- to be even remotely involved in this behavior, this blight done in the name of America. You, George Bush, and all the others set the tone and the circumstance for these atrocities to occur. You (I cannot bring myself to call you sir) are responsible. I don't care how much legal mumbo jumbo you have arranged to save your asses, how much indignation you profess, or how many times you deny culpability, this administration is responsible for the most heinous of acts committed on vulnerable human beings. And, I say to you, that the God you so profess to honor, knows what you have done. He knows that you have treated human beings with less compassion than you would treat a cur on the street. You should resign. George Bush, Dick Cheney and this whole stinking Repuglican administration should be impeached! |
