FAQ

A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons.

First he abandoned the majority vote in America, then his own party members in Congress, then his obligation to protect the American people. He also abandoned firefighters, policemen, and first responders nationwide, Americans with debilitating disease, school children through out America, senior citizens who have to decide on food or medicine, those who cannot afford healthcare, the gay community, and civil rights and liberties. Now, he's abandoning all those who believed they could count on Social Security. Don't you think it's about time we abandoned George Bush? Don't you think it's about time he return to the mediocrity he called his life before he ravaged America?

Don't Americans realize we are borrowing against our children's future to make George Bush and friends rich today? Have we become so used to living on credit that referring our debt, in order to benefit the already filthy rich, has become an acceptable practice? George and Auuhnuld aren't worried, because their children will be the ones to inherit the sweat on your children's backs! For God's sake America, if ever there was a time the sleeping giant should awaken, it's now!

Does anyone else see the irony in all the publicity over a man who died over 2000 years ago when we aren't hearing anything about the soldiers who are dying today in Iraq? Mainstream media and fundamentalists really do have their priorities mixed up! We're told Jesus died for us -- well, excuse me, what do you think our troops in Iraq are doing? This war without reason, waged in our names, should be front and center on every news channel using public airwaves. Honor Guards, Respect, and Public Notice should be granted for those who willingly gave their lives to save America!

To all those seniors who thought Social Security was protected -- thanks to George Bush and the Repuglicans in this country, your benefits are about to go south. And he said he was compassionate! He's a blow hard spoiled brat who never worked a day in his life. Like all the rest of the useless parasites, he wants all his inheritance from Poppy to be tax-free, yet he makes every effort to see that you barely have what it takes to eke out an existence!

Walter Cronkite outshines most of those who consider themselves journalists! He is a man of the people, for the people, and revered by the people. The criticism of him personifies the junk journalism currently practiced by the tabloid mainstream media! At 87, the man can still run rings around modern day, so-called legitimate news anchors.

Whenever I hear Bush or anyone from his administration say we should wait until CIA weapons inspectors in Iraq complete their work, before assuming there are no WMD's, it makes me believe they just haven't had enough time to plant their garden. If there had been an imminent threat, if there had been WMD's, then they would have been found! The delay in finding them is because they don't exist. The only WMD's they'll find now are going to be those imported by the administration in an attempt to save their behinds from the disaster they created!

As I watch George Bush wrap himself in that pompous self-righteous cloak of religiosity and gay marriage condemnation, I have to wonder why he isn't condemning, say adultery, or stealing, or calling upon God's name in vain to justify an unnecessary war that results in death and destruction. Or, how about bearing false witness or coveting thy neighbors goods, all things that the Bible says goes against the Ten Commandments. Maybe, this is another case of the arrogant prig telling the rest of the world do as I say and not as I do?

When AIDS first besieged humanity with it's deadly diagnosis, the religious right was out condemning the gay community and proclaiming God's retribution on Gays. They soon found out AIDS was a disease to be feared by all. Funny, isn't it, how God can come back to bite you in the ass when you misrepresent Him and use His Name in Vain! Today we find ourselves faced with a war in which God's innocent children are being killed with man's bombs and bullets. However, this same group of self-righteous zealots seized upon an issue designed to distract your attention from the death and destruction occurring in Iraq and are again proclaiming God's intentions by condemning Gay marriage. Wonder how God will handle it this time?

Reading Jimmy Breslin's column, "Haunted by a Soldier's Face," and listening to CNN's American Morning in the background (all the giggling and small talk about inane subjects interesting only to those who are flapping their tongues), I am reminded how far removed mainstream media is from the realities of the war in Iraq and how it affects us all here in America. Mainstream media has abandoned their responsibility to the American people by not providing us with the truth about Bush's war. You sometimes hear it in the guarded statements, what's really happening, from the correspondents in Iraq, but sometimes I think they too must be afraid of losing their jobs. Christiane Amanpour had the courage to tell us exactly what was happening. Maybe that's why we don't see or hear from her anymore on CNN!

Some things that people say defy apology! Rod Paige, Secretary of Education, who supposedly represents the best interets of the children of America, called the teacher's union "a terrorist organization." Apologies are not enough! Not only were his remarks inappropriate, they were dangerous to the health and well being of children nationwide. We have been so completely bombarded with rhetoric about the "war on terrorism" and how "we will hunt them down where ever they hide and kill them," that children will easily make the connection between Bush's war and their teacher. How do you suppose these kids feel sitting in a room in which the person standing before them is considered a terrorist by members of this administration?

How in the world can George Bush stand before us and say his first duty is to protect the American people, when he refuses to see the handwriting on the wall? If he doesn't admit his error, his environmental policies will be the death of us all! An excerpt from a leaked Pentagon report, requested by influential defense adviser Andrew Marshall, says "an imminent scenario of catastrophic climate change is 'plausible and would challenge United States national security in ways that should be considered immediately.'" Of course, that won't happen, because positively addressing the problem would cause the defense industry to lose bullet and bomb profits they were promised in return for their support of Bush's candidacy!

Billy Tauzin is following the tried, true, and very lucrative business model of The Carlyle Group -- while "serving" the people, use your position to create legislation favorable to corporations, then profit from that legislation when you join the private sector! This has worked well for most of the members of The Carlyle Group. In fact, it has made them multi-millionaires.

If George Bush put as much energy into solving the Israeli/Palestinian crisis in the Middle East, as he put into invading Iraq and "gettin'" Saddam Hussein, there could have been peace in the Middle East. If, as has been implicated, creating democracy in Iraq was the solution for protecting Israel and creating an atmosphere for democratic governments, then this administration has fallen far short of that goal. Instead, they have created a hub for more terrorism, a quagmire of death and destruction! Ignoring the Israeli/Palestinian problem and expecting them to solve their problems without outside mediation is an example of the overwhelming ineptness and ignorance of this administration. The Bush administration bears the responsibility for all who have died, both Israeli and Palestinian, in the last three and a half years.

Ed Gillespie stated, "It's only February, and they have made clear they intend to run the dirtiest campaign in modern presidential politics." It takes one to know one Ed, and you guys perfected dirty politics. Worse, you get others to do some of that dirty work for you so you can appear above the fray. Democrats are beginning to realize that we don't have to roll over and say kick me again. Kick me once and I will bite you is becoming the mantra of Dems nationwide. We believe in fighting fire with fire, thanks to the nasty rules of engagement introduced to Americans by the Repuglican party.

All the rhetoric regarding how much this administration cares about our troops in Iraq is just that -- RHETORIC! When those wounded in combat are "treated like dogs, in sub-standard living conditions, waiting for weeks or months before receiving the medical care they need," it is deplorable and shows us just how much this administration really cares! When the numbers of combat wounded are not reported to the public for political reasons, you know this administration cares more for themselves than they do for the troops. The Bush administration is one big farce and American troops, dead and wounded, are the resulting REALITY!
