Barbara's
Daily BuzzFlash Minute |

A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. February 13, 2004 I just hope that Americans realize Iraq was just the beginning to world domination by the Bush administration! They are following a plan published by Project For The New American Century, a conservative organization whose goal is to promote American global leadership! * * * Just wondering why the "documents" released by the White House have ARF at the top -- doesn't that stand for Air Reserve Force? Why does it not say Alabama National Guard? Had Bush been reclassified because he didn't show up for duty? So many questions surrounding this man's AWOL! * * * Just like those Repuglicans to find Janet Jackson's boobies offensive, yet allow our TV screens to be filled with nonstop commercials for four-hour erections. * * * While those in mainstream media seem befuddled about why Bush did not get a lasting boost from Saddam's capture, it hardly seemed a stellar achievement. If anyone saw the pictures, they certainly didn't reflect the image of an evil, vile, leader of armies that makes one shake with fear. Rather he appeared to be a beaten old man with questionable mental faculties. If anything, he looked as though he had been a patient in an institution who had been abused by his "keepers." Somehow, the man they found and the man we were told to fear did not appear to be the same. No picture enhancement media for Saddam. * * * February 12, 2004 If there wasn't trash to troll then no one would be fishing! If Bush had carried out his duties as an Airman in the Air National Guard, then there would be no reason to deny release of records! If there weren't embarrassing revelations in those records then he should be proud to release them. If he weren't sending our sons and daughters into war risking their lives, then there would be no reason to Troll his Trash! * * * Consider the audacity of a man who would release pictures of his teeth and expect people to believe that it is evidence for actively carrying out his duty to his country! His teeth no less! Scott McClellan and Dan Bartlett should understand that getting to the bottom of this is not "Trash trolling" as they have stated. Bush said on national television he would release "ALL" the records regarding his military service -- not just dental records. This is the man who lied to the American people about why we went to war. This military records issue speaks about the credibility of the man who is sending our sons and daughters into war, many of whom have died and many more who will. Right now I don't like what I'm seeing or hearing from him, because it's just more lies to cover the cover up. * * * I got this straight from the mouth of a retired military man's wife! The question is -- was Bush paid for duty in Alabama by the Texas Air National Guard and, if so, was it legal? Someone should look into this. * * * February 11, 2004 "I showed up in Alabama." Yeah, right! Bush said nothing about showing up in Alabama for National Guard Duty! He showed up for GOP campaign duty, but no one connected with the National Guard remembers seeing him. The only person denigrating the National Guard is the one who did not fulfill his military obligation. Whoever gave this man an honorable discharge slapped in the face every patriot who ever served their country and every soldier who wore the uniform of the United States of America! * * * After watching the most embarrassing display of ignorance on Meet The Press, I know why the rest of the world hates us! The man does not know what he's doing, he does not know the meaning of the word truth, nor can he call himself honorable. As I listened to him cast Washington D.C. in a negative light, I had to laugh, because HE is the epitome of negativity in Washington! He leads the beltway insiders, and believe me when I tell you there is no integrity here! Revenge, Retaliation, Retribution have become the buzz words of the day, thanks to George W. Bush! * * * It is my opinion that John McCain is a poor choice for the WMD Commission. While Senator McCain has been a thorn in the side of Bush when it is politically advantageous, I really don't think he can be objective -- if he does discover any wrongdoing, he knows the Repuglican Party will be TOAST! He will do everything he can to protect the party, but in doing so, he will be turning his back on his country! * * * February 10, 2004 The youth of America can only hope that the only thing they'll have to ante up for George Bush's wars are their taxes. If things continue as they are, it could also be their lives! A draft will become necessary as more and more volunteer soldiers opt out of reenlisting. It would do our young people well to observe history and question this administration's policy of "shock and awe." Wiser men have told us that diplomacy is the more lasting solution for peace and prosperity. * * * Now that Senator John McCain has been named to serve on the presidential commission investigating U.S. intelligence gathering, including assessments of intel on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, I hope his first loyalties will be to his country and not just to the man he considers the commander in chief. I can only hope he will be objective and honest in his investigation. I have to wonder though, because I did hear him in an interview, that even while criticizing Bush policies he says he would vote for him in November. I find it hard to believe any man of integrity, knowing what we know about Bush, could vote for him! * * * To all those who believe Sunday's Meet the Press was anything more than an Hour with George Bush, forget it! Tim Russert ain't about to jeopardize his big salary job and he's not about to rock the Bush boat. Haven't we heard before that "questions [were] submitted ahead of time"? I also wonder who was on the other end of the mic in Bush's ear. Was Condi or Karl standing by to feed George the answers he couldn't remember, while he oh'd, err'd, and ah'd to gain time? Come on people, that was a performance worthy of an award for the best comedy of the year! * * * February 9, 2004 When reality sinks in, sometimes it can be overwhelming! The reality is that a small group of men and women told us our country was in imminent danger and war was necessary for our security. THEY LIED! Their intent was to scare the hell out of us so the country would support their war! Now, with over 500 American soldier's lives lost and untold numbers of innocent Iraqi lives lost, this same group of men are telling us they went to war for noble reasons! There is nothing noble about an unnecessary war based on LIES! There is nothing noble about men who think the end justifies the means. There is nothing noble about men who would use a noble purpose to justify their greed! * * * As I listen to the mainstream media attempts to support four more years of the worst president this country has ever had to endure -- by touting a non-existent recovering economy for millions of Americans -- I pause to pray for those who would condone the deaths of over 500 American soldiers and thousands of Iraqi citizens, simply because their pocket-books are in better shape. Does the bottom-line -- money -- take precedence over the lives of the young men and women serving in our military? Ask their mothers and fathers, husbands or wives, sisters and brothers how they feel. Ask them if money can really replace a loved one. * * * Hmm, have they finally found someone to take the fall for the Valerie Plame outing? Will he be pardoned quietly sometime in the future after the heat dies down? If "like father, like son" has any relevance, we can fully expect sweeping pardons at the end of this administration, especially if there are any convictions that may implicate the "big-wigs." | |||||
