Barbara's
Daily BuzzFlash Minute |

A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons. January 30, 2003 Have they all lost their minds, are they all as dim as Dumbya? Scott Ritter has been telling us from the very beginning that Iraq had no Weapons of Mass Destruction, Joe Wilson has told us the Bush administration had been advised the "Niger yellowcake" story was bogus, and various members of the CIA have said there was no concrete evidence that Iraq had WMD's! It also has been determined that those "mobile labs" were used for weather balloons. For God's sake, how much proof do you need to realize our country preemptively invaded another country, without provocation, based on lies concocted by this administration? We had the bejeezus scared out of us so these so-called experienced guys could wage a war that has killed thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens, including children, and over 500 American soldiers! Wake up America before it's too late. * * * While I'm am an undecided on which Democratic presidential candidate would be the best possible choice to run against George Bush, I am suspect when mainstream media begins to trash one candidate and tout another. Having been in-bedded with Bush since day one, that mainstream media is but a steno-bull horn for Karl Rove. I would question their motives for trashing Howard Dean. Is Karl afraid that Dean will do what has thus far been impossible? Could Dean really get out the vote? Just wondering. * * * January 29, 2003 So, there are a few things Bush's trusted aides forgot to "brief" him on? Uhh, someone forgot to tell him that Weapons Inspectors were in Iraq conducting intense searches for WMD's and Saddam had "let them in." Evidently, someone got a little mixed up on the words "imminent" and "threat." Maybe, just maybe, it would be a good idea for Bush to read the newspapers on occasion -- especially when he's planning a war! * * * The Bush administration says war and domestic spending created the deficits, when actually his tax cuts for the very wealthy and the cash he gives to big business are the culprits! Face it folks, he needs a repressed public to fulfill his dream of becoming a dictator. The Weapon of Mass Destruction he's using on us is the almighty dollar -- he intends to wipe out all that benefits the people and see to it we can barely eke out a living. * * * While the mainstream media and the Repuglican party continue to try and frame the Democratic candidates as negative, I can't help but think it really must be a thorn in their side to know that any one of the candidates is, by far, a better man for the job. Every time I hear a criticism of these men I find myself pausing to think, "How in God's name can they say that, when Bush himself is the epitome of everything negative they are saying?" We all know that Bush has "misunderestimated" his ignorance and the country is in the mess it's in because of it! * * * January 28, 2003 If using Weapons of Mass Destruction against innocent people is reason enough to prosecute those who use them, please explain why the numbers of innocents Saddam killed are important and the numbers of innocents who were "shock(ed) and awe(d)" to death are not! War without provocation is not justifiable. Pre-emptive war based entirely on lies is intolerable. * * * "Experience should teach us to be most on our guard to protect liberty when the Government's purposes are beneficent. Men born to freedom are naturally alert to repel invasion of their liberty by evil-minded rulers. The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding," said Justice Louis D. Brandeis. This quote should remind us that history can often repeat itself if we are not vigilant to its lessons. When we see parallels we should be mindful and alert to our security and democracy. * * * Even though NO WMD's were found, the Bush administration is attempting to justify invading Iraq on the basis that Saddam had WMD's a long time ago and used them on his people. It seems to me that if this is their justification, then those who supplied those weapons, condoned their use, and shook Saddam's hand should also be prosecuted. * * * January 27, 2003 Wonder how many people, especially those right wing fanatics, in the United States know that "China is a primary source of funding the U.S. fiscal and current account deficits"? China holds the IOU's that Bush has passed on to our children! * * * Hans Blix has got to be feeling vindicated. The man has class and thus far we haven't heard any "I told you so," even though he would be within his rights to shout it from the rooftops. * * * Hear the wind? It's Dennis Miller sucking up to the right wing fanatics in an attempt to pump some interest into his failing career. The Coulterization of his image won't help his muckraking anymore than it has helped her in recent years. Even the most die hard right wing whackos recognize bad press when it's so poorly presented. * * * January 26, 2003 Oh my goodness, could it be, the Bush administration decided on military tribunals for the Al Qaeda detainees because they don't want you to hear what the detainees can tell us? Do you suppose the testimony would be revealing and embarrass this administration? If the detainees were allowed legal representation, in an open court for the public to observe, just who would be implicated? You don't suppose that this administration ignored warnings regarding 9-11 in order to garner support to go to war? You don't think they would allow over 3000 people to die on American soil, do you? Do you think this administration really promised Afghanistan a "carpet of bombs" vs. "a carpet of gold" or that Bush wanted to "get Saddam, because he tried to kill Poppy"? Hmm! * * * Exactly how long are Americans going to believe the bull we've been fed by the moron? "WMDs" morphed into "programs" and has now become "program activities." Over 500 American soldiers dead, thousands of innocent Iraqis dead, probable civil war on the horizon with American soldiers in the crossfire, no democracy, and a possible theocracy. All of this due to "program activity"! My God, what has happened to critical thinking? |
